you know, i think one of the most painful things for me about danny going back to rachel keeps being that it feels a little like he’s saying charlie is not important.
i mean, it’s implicit, but... he moved across the country, hating every single thing about that, just so he could see grace a few days a month. that’s our introduction to this man - that’s what his whole character is built on in this show. and then rachel lies to him and tells him that her son is not his, and he only discovers the truth years after the fact, and not even because she told him willingly, but because she was put in a corner by charlie’s illness. and then... what? danny is mad for a little while, and four years later he’s just... over it? he’s okay with the fact that rachel is very directly responsible for keeping him away from what she very well knew was his child for four years? that’s just something he’s found peace with now, to the point where he’s ready to accept her into his very inner circle as his life partner again, like nothing ever happened?
i just... don’t buy that. at all, unless there’s something else going on (danny is still chasing that ideal family and he’s deluding himself into thinking it will work this time by ignoring the anger he very much still carries towards rachel; danny has very specific amnesia; danny was snatched by aliens and replaced by an imperfect copy), but we never get to see anything else in canon, so we’re forced to assume that it’s just the way it looks - danny has forgiven rachel and they’re now happily back on their way to being a happy couple with two happy kids.
and danny doesn’t really care about missing out on half of charlie’s life, i guess.
