so i remember you saying that we dont talk about the hilda tie-in books, but im curious if you know if the information inside is canon at all? (like the dates or currencies used) i cant find a straight answer to this online so im wondering if you might know
(lmao I just said that because, even though I haven't read them myself, I've seen stuff about how the portrayals of all the characters are shitty and Jo, Frida, and David are just sorta straight-up abusive towards Hilda)
(I know there's a couple posts floating about detailing all of that but I don't think I've rb'd them and I'm a little too tired to go looking rn sorry)
Disregarding the editing of show canon (events/characters), I think you could consider worldbuilding info canon? Secondary canon, at least, when stuff in the tie-in novels doesn't contradict show canon (primary canon). I.e, if the tie-in novels call the currency kroner (which I think they do? Not sure on that) and the show doesn't contradict that, you can consider it canon, same as with dates.
In my opinion, until show canon states otherwise, you can consider official secondary canon (the tie-in novels as official publications) canon. HOWEVER, this is fandom and you can do whatever you want, so if you want to splice together primary canon and secondary canon, go for it!
