do people count writing fanfiction as part of a “media consumption hobby” or is it transformative enough to be viewed as its own artistic work? in the case of a cannon divergence with significant changes taking the whole thing in a new creative direction with new meaning clearly imparted by the author of the fic, is it fair to say that the act is consumptive?
