one thing about english translations of the iliad that puzzled me is that it seems like the translator always has to choose between name and patronymic which is rendered for instance as agamemnon or "atreus' son", achilles or "peleus' son". in french we've simply kept "atréide"/"atride" and "péléide"/"péléion" as words which seems more logical?
