First Impressions: RPDR S11 Queens (SPOILERS)
We have our rumoured RPDR S11 cast---we’ve all heard the spoilers. We all already have our top 4 picked. I just wanted to give my first impressions of all the queens (like i did last season on my main). Spoiler: I was very fucking wrong. Like, hilariously off course. Get hype for more of that.
This is solely from their Instagrams since they’re not technically “confirmed” or have a meet the queens video yet soooo here we go. Which means some of these queens might very well not be on the show. But it’s okay. Live in the moment.
A’keria Chanel Davenport: She’s gorgeous---she looks biologically related to Kennedy, not even joking. In and out of drag, she is just beautiful and radiant. I don’t know how she’ll do challenge-wise, but I have high hopes for her personality.
Ariel Versace: I don’t know! I’ve watched an Instagram live or two of hers and I find her quite adorable, but---is she fake? That’s the real question, kids. This bitch is gonna start some shit. IDK if I’m here for it or not. We’ll see.
Brooke Lynn Hytes: Canada, yes ma’am! I stan Kameron Michaels and they look almost exactly alike and they’re both in Nashville, so expect me to stan Miss Brooke too. I’m already mildly obsessed. Meant for more? Top 4.
Honey Davenport: The mother of miss Monet X Change. The queen we all need. Honestly I just get so much personality and so much love from all of these queens this season. I want them all to win. I want Honey Davenport to shake some shit up. Honey Davenport is absolutely glowing.
Kahanna Montrese: Out of drag, Jesus fucking Christ. Maybe the hottest man I’ve ever seen. In drag, this woman looks like the rich bitch who burned down the PTA building for the other kids mistreating her child. I fucking love it and I want her to kick ass.
Mercedes Iman Diamond: She looks way too cute and sweet to make it past episode 2. Like she’s just a cutie that everyone wants to love and hug and squeeze and she kind of busts under pressure. Poor baby, I want to hug her and give her all the money I have (which is like five bucks but still).
Nina West: We stan a legend. One of the only queens this season I’d heard of before the rumors started circulating. I’ve always been a fan of her, and this season shouldn’t be any different.
Plastique Tiara: I don’t get how she’s everyone’s favorite TBH. Sure, she’s Haus of Edwards, which qualifies her as a legend from the get go, but she’s another of those queens that looks like she gets by on looks alone. Then again, I said the same thing about Aquaria last season---oh well.
Ra’jah O’Hara: This bitch knows how to paint!!! And not just her face, but like actually paint!!! Her artwork skills make me very curious to see how she does in challenges. (Oh, and she can lip sync.)
Scarlet Envy: She’s Pearl’s friend and you can tell. Looks for days. I don’t think she’ll hold up to make it to the finale though. She seems like an early out. You cannot deny she’s stunning though.
Shuga Cain: Another queen I knew before the rumors!! She did Drag Babies with Bob the Drag Queen and Chi Chi and Peppermint, and---spoiler!---her drag baby won the show. Though she’s another queen just boiling over with personality and a perfect smile, I’m so scared she’s another early out.
Silky Ganache: My winner. I need a big girl to win RuPaul’s Drag Race, and I’m 100% sure that Silky can do it. Avenge Latrice, (season 5) Roxxxy, and Ginger, baby, because you have what it takes to be America’s Next Drag Superstar. I want her to slay the house down and not apologize.
Soju: I want her to be good!! I really do!! But I don’t have high hopes, sadly. I follow her on Insta and fall head over heels for all her looks, but I don’t have faith that she can turn it out.
Vanessa Vanjie Mateo: Yeah, she’s an old thing. I loved Miss Vanjie, and I don’t think she should’ve been booted first last season, but I also don’t think she should be back? The Miss Vanjie fame is gonna get to her head and she’s gonna be a bitch, and guess what, I am not here for it.
Yvie Oddly: fucking yes! That is all. Her drag is so weird, and no one’s ready for it. I’m not ready for it, but I want to be. Yvie.
TL;DR---I have high hopes for most of this cast. They’re all stunning.

hey guys, a new season of drag race has graced our screens (like, a week ago) and idk about you, but i’m feeling pretty sickening mawma YAAAAAAAAAAS GAGA WERK THE HOUSE DOWN BOOTS HENNY.
okay, so let’s start by ruviewing each contestant based on their entrance to the werk room.
peppermint: peppermint is the shows OG out and proud trans drag queen. she hails from NY and she is serving LEWKS. after her beautiful blue satin entrance, peppermint definitely left me with a sweet tooth.
next up, valentina, she is beauty, she is grace and she is slaying rupaul’s drag race. red is definitely her colour and the fact she has been doing drag for 10 months and can do THIS: sickens me, she’s such a gorgeous drag baby and puts every biological female’s beat to shame.
okay, i know each season tends to have it’s designated “big girl”, and all she ever talks about is her weight (looking at you, ginger minj) but this is one of the rare few times a big girl hasn’t made me roll my eyes. eureka is very witty, and also has enough good looks to make up for the times she mentions her weight
now it’s time for the oldest queen in drag herstory, the true face crack of the century, charlie hides. aka the one that lana del ray called an asshole that time. despite being an ancient relic, charlie is beautiful and also pulls off dressing like a 22 year old as opposed to a 52 year old. she has her own youtube channel, in which she showcases her comedic talent and also insane beauty, not to mention she was grown here in the UK, and i’m all for a UK drag queen snatching the crown
next up, the “courtney act” of the season (yawn), aka the fishy blonde – farrah moan. not only is this an ingenious pun (whether she realises this or not), but also she looks more like a woman than any woman i have ever met. and this is all i have to say:  on this:  am i wrong?
okay kittens, time for my personal favourite, the artsy, creative, sasha velour. she is dedicated to being “uniquely sasha”, and i’m in love with this bald headed dork. her lipsyncs are ART, and she is essentially herself, just art. her eyebrows will forever be better than yours, sorry ’bout it.
next to enter the werk room, alexis michelle, aka the one my best friend wants to fuck. she’s a gorgeous, curvy queen with the bluest contacts i’ve ever seen. she serves body on a platter and her hair colour is my literal dream. alexis is classy, versatile and just super cute all round. also, her painted tits are just goals.
shea couleé storms into the werk room next, wearing a sickening dress adorned with the face of fellow chicago queen, pearl liaison. shea’s drag style is so fierce, she will legitimately cut you. not to mention she has the best entrance line of the season, and one of the best in herstory.  she looks like she could fuck you up before breakfast.
it’s evidently clear that trinity taylor’s favourite colour is blue. it was her chosen colour for both her promo look, and her entrance look. everything about her is blue, her clothes, her hair, her earrings. all in slightly different, yet equally annoying shades of blue. she is a pageant queen, and a storyline mirroring that of coco and alyssa is in the works between trinity and eureka. trinity isn’t quite beautiful, but just like shea, will fight you, and i love it. also, she can’t tell the difference between a stigma and astigmatism.
kimora blac is the resident bitch of the season. despite her denial, there is no way that this bitch isn’t pumped with silicone. she’s going to be cunty, and no doubt we’re all going to gag over how cynical and mean she is. i do love a bitchy queen, and there’s no way kimora will disappoint, which will hopefully make up for the sub-par looks she’s been serving thus far
now, the comedy queen, hailing from milwaukee, winsconsin, jaymes mansfield. now, don’t get me wrong here, the voice is awful. but i honestly stan the shit out of jaymes, she’s funny, sweet and super adorable. her quirky style and humour are all part of this bright persona, but please let her lose the voice at some point
nina bo’nina banana fofana osama bin laden brown is one of the most creative queens to ever grace the werk room. her periscopes lull me to sleep, her voice is so soothing. she is talented and quirky, and also just the bomb.com.org.uk. and her entrance look was the best ever:
the penultimate queen is aja, from new york. she knows who i am and once told me that she loved me and that is all i have to say about this queen. that, and that i’m seeing this sickening queen in a couple of months and i’d like to join the haus of aja, pls n thank u xo
finally, we have ronnie from new york. she is brooklyn’s premiere lady gaga impersonator. i don’t know what else to say about her  i mean, she’s so good at it, right? look at her  you’d almost think she was lady gaga……………….. AND THAT’S BECAUSE IT IS
in possibly the best the twist in the history of rupaul’s drag race, lady gaga had everyone, especially the queens shook, these were their reactions:
and honestly i cannot blame them, my edges were officially SNATCHED.
thanks for reading this ruview of drag race, hope you enjoyed it!
lauren x
hey guys, pls check out my blog post (it's about ep 1 of drag race!!!!!!!!!) hey guys, a new season of drag race has graced our screens (like, a week ago) and idk about you, but i'm feeling pretty sickening mawma

Diahann Carroll in House of Flowers at the age of 19
Diahann Carroll, who died Friday at the age of 84, is best known as the first black woman to star on a TV series, “Julia” in 1968, but she was a barrier breaker on Broadway too. Born in the Bronx, she made her Broadway debut way back in 1954, at the age of 19, in Truman Capote and Harold Arlen’s “House of Flowers,” the only debutante in an illustrious company led by Pearl Bailey and Alvin Ailey. The famous Harlem photographer Carl Van Vechten captured her here in color.
Carroll was the first black woman to win the Tony Award for Best Actress for a musical, for “No Strings” in 1962.She returned to Broadway in 1982 to portray Doctor Martha Livingstone in “Agnes of God”
Diahann Carroll in No Strings with Richard Kiley
Diahann Carroll in Agnes of God with Geraldine Page
Her experiences on Broadway were in sharp contrast to her experience on television. As a black female” surrounded by white supremacists and chauvinists, she once said, “I had to learn how to tap dance around the situation”
Martin Scorsese’s  “The Irishman”, featuring an all-star cast including DeNiro and Pacino and Cannavale, will be presented at Broadway’s beautiful Belasco Theater from November 1 to December 1. It is not a play, but a film — the first movie screening in the theater’s 112-year-old history.  The film, about a mob hitman recalling his possible involvement with the slaying of Jimmy Hoffa, will then be shown on Netflix. The director had hoped to put the film in movie houses, but major movie chains balked at playing host to a Netflix film.
Though Netflix will be installing equipment to allow for state of the art screening,  it will maintain the normal schedule for productions at the Belasco  — eight screenings a week, including Mondays dark and matinees on the weekend.
The Week in New York Theater Reviews and Previews
Preview: Linda Vista on Broadway Ian Barford realizes that some audience members may view the 50-year-old divorcé he portrays in Tracy Letts’ Linda Vista as “despicable, a misanthrope, a narcissist and probably a nihilist.” He feels that way about him too. But the actor also sees his character, Dick Wheeler, as “incredibly articulate, and hilarious,” even “noble.” “He has so many dimensions and contradictions: He’s lovable and he’s hateable,” Barford says. “I’m scared many people will love to hate him — and I’m sure that many people will hate to love him.”
Heroes of the Fourth Turning
Conservatives don’t all think alike; some of them hate Trump; some don’t see Liberals as evil (some do.) Some are deeply weird.
It is a sure sign of the political divisiveness in America that these observations may well seem like revelations to some theatergoers attending  Will Arbury’s new play at Playwrights Horizons. “Heroes of the Fourth Turning” allows us to eavesdrop on what feel like astute and authentic conversations at a gathering of  former classmates at a conservative Catholic college in Wyoming.   Terrifically acted and intellectually stimulating,  “Heroes” is also eerie, at times confusing, too long and too dark. And I mean dark literally; it takes place during nighttime in the dimly lit backyard of Justin’s house.
  Chalk
“Chalk,” a 40-minute comedy in which silent comic Alex Curtis creates an entire world for the audience using little more than a piece of chalk, is exactly the sort of show I always hope for at the Fringe Festival — inventive, entertaining, and short.
Unmaking Toulouse-Lautrec
“Moulin Rouge” on Broadway has several things in common with Bated Breath Theater Company’s low-budget show about the same people, place and period, especially in my reaction to them both. As with “Moulin Rouge,” I found “Unmaking Toulouse-Lautrec” thrilling from the moment I entered the West Houston bar where it takes place…until a few minutes after it began. That’s because the environment on the second floor lounge of the Madame X bar is spot-on in look and feel….a show about the life and times of French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec that is at best inventive, at worst amateurish, and overall a mishmash.
