I’m not saying that the opportunity to be a dad would have fixed Rimmer but it absolutely would have Improved™️ him
#like there would have been some healing going on there#learning to be kind to his inner child bc these outer children are so fucking fragile and small#and he’d never want to see the hurt or betrayal or fear from his own childhood on their faces#and he’d definitely fall into some traps trying to groom them into what a ‘successful’ person should be#but the very first time Jim breaks down over failing an exam Rimmer’s like#wait a minute IS it really this important??#that’s my SON and he’s CRYING over this stupid test. it is stupid. it’s stupid#when compared to the health and happiness of my boys#and Lister of course in the room listening to this rant like#‘they just want ye to be proud of em man’#bc obv by the time the twins are taking exams these two are well past the ‘hold on they’re MY kids not OUR kids’ thing#they’re fully in starcrossed coparent mode by then in my mind#anyway.
