And they all know! Klaus knows Stefan and Caroline are up to something. Rebekah knows Stefan playing nice with her because he's got an agenda and that he wants the dagger. Kol knows the truce is a flimsy ploy and that the Gilberts are trying to kill him. It's not unjust paranoia they've spent a thousand years being hunted by their father and other supernaturals but the MFG think they can pull the wool over their eyes so they play along to some degree to see what they're up to before inevitably calling them out on it

Klaus keeping the sword with him while Stefan tries to steal it from him. Rebekah keeping the dagger with her while Matt tries to steal it from her. Kol keeping the stake with him while the Gilberts try to use it on him. Paranoia runs in the family but is it even paranoia when it's justified
