Another list! Of stuff I liked about Supergirl ep. 6x03, “Phantom Menaces”! AKA:
Spoilers!
WOW HEY WOW I LOVED THIS EPISODE.
BECAUSE EVERYONE IS HAVING FEELINGS.
(This is gonna be all over the place I can tell, apologies in advance for poor organization)
Okay, so! Right off the bat (‘ha ha’ but like, in a sad way) we learn that poor Silas has been Phantom’d. :C
We then get even MORE Phantom action back in the actual Phantom Zone--Kara’s plan to literally grab a ride doesn’t go over so well WHICH LEADS TO!
Kara making a Phantom Zone Friend! Yay! :D
Pretty much immediately on board with Nixly’s (I refuse to try and spell out her full name) chaotic energy. Brilliant. Amazing. 10/10, hope she’s not secretly evil.
Kara’s physical vulnerability bringin’ in those “Human for a Day” vibes, yes, good, yes.
Then we’re BACK AT THE TOWER and things aren’t looking great for Silas! J’onn is blocking out his emotions! Brainy is neck deep in his!
AND SPEAKING OF FEELINGS.
ALEX.
WITH THE CRYSTAL.
OOOOooOOooOOH NooOOOOOOOOOO
Side note: Love that Kara’s last will and testament is like, ‘Four for you, Eliza and Alex Danvers!’
‘Aaaaaand none for Jeremiah, okay bye.’
Puttin’ a pin in the Luthor stuff. We’ll get to it.
Back to the Tower! Alright, first and foremost, probably a silly thing but I’m glad the Super Friends are just...dressed casually.
I was concerned at the outset of this season that we’d see them all in their Super Suits™ most of the time because everyone’s a vigilante now, but fortunately that is not the case!
Appreciate that the Phantoms are actually a particular type of alien. As far as I know, ‘Zulian Maletarians’ are original to the show--no reference to preexisting DC stuff.
Something I noticed upon a re-watch--my suspension of disbelief allows for the physical phantom transformation...but they also all sprout matching dark robes???
Sure, Jan.
Anyways. Then WEAPONS GRADE ANGST, as Alex has like, combo PTSD/guilt trip reaction to Phantom’d Silas.
Just like. The frozen, helpless look?
NOW I’M HAVING FEELINGS, HOW DARE.
And the hits keep comin’, cause we’ve got a balcony talk between J’onn and Alex but it’s tense and sad and gosh I love it.
Back in Kara’s Phantom Zone Adventure, love her Wizard of Oz-esque gathering of companions on her way to see the Wizard find an escape.
This week it felt like there was a better handle on the close-ups? Like, they were pretty apparent in 6x02. Here, they’re a little less obvious. (Or maybe I’m just getting used to them IDK. XD)
Az-Rel is a deep Detective Comics Comics cut--a Kryptonian prisoner in the Phantom Zone who has pyrokinesis!
(tHEy DoNT ReSpECT tHe cOMicS!!! Except that they do, and y’all don’t even NOTICE.)
Glad that both Kelly and M’gann had plot stuff to do this week, instead of just offering emotional support to everyone else.
I forgot to mention it last week so I’ll just quickly mention that I like the glow-y purple lights in the Tower. Very nice touch, J’onn.
(But how is he affording this?)
(And for that matter...are Kara and Nia now the only members of the Super Friends with jobs?)
I’ll dispense with the linear approach because the back-and-forth between plotlines is getting to be a bit much, SO!
On the Kelly and M’gann note: Again, really liked that they’re not simply there to be cheerleaders for the other characters. M’gann still feels a little like she’s at the mercy of plot whims, but. Progress!
And then Kelly! I mentioned this last season--I like that they’ve built up her character such that her inclusion in like. Bad-guy fights makes sense, even though she’s maybe not as directly connected to the action as other members of the Super Friends, being more ‘team CatCo/Obsidian’ than ‘Tower’
(Spoiler-y info suggests that will change as the season progresses so we’ll see how that goes!)
I liked this Final Phantom Fight more than the one in 6x02--the direction/blocking felt a little less ‘everyone stand on your marks in a line and shoot up at the CGI stuff’.
I mean it was still essentially that, but. Just worked a bit better here, IMO.
And Alex can quick-change now! Love that it has the red glow of Martian shapeshifting.
Oliver Queen out there somewhere in the afterlife, seething with jealousy.
(Jumping back, just think it’s funny that, presumably, emergency services got a call about the Phantoms like, ‘911, what’s your emergency?’ ‘We’ve got hostile ghosts!’)
Alright, circling back to the Luthors!
Brainy and Lena are feeling their feelings, folks.
Loved all Brainy’s stuff. Particularly, his enraged, “I hate him! I hate him!” and then his quieter, broken, “I miss her.”
Just. So good.
(But man he is...2 for 3 on busted tech. Keyboard, tablet...fortunately the TV was spared but it was close!)
And Lena had some growth!
I’m just at the point where I’m never gonna like. Enjoy the character--too many years of fandom baggage unfortunately. But credit where it is due: NO MORE LITTLE BOXES, THANK GOODNESS.
She’s gone from Bowler Hat Guy to Elsa. Good for her.
The amount of Lex this week was about as much as I can handle anymore. Simmering in the background, antagonizing Lena...that’s where he belongs.
(But he can leave now, thanks.)
Okay so BACK TO KARA, b/c you know. I’m biased.
Her time in the Phantom Zone is a little less introspective than I expected, thus far. However! Still the good Kara content I crave.
Kara making friends and influencing others with her sheer determination and compassion?
Almost like...her real power lies in her ability to inspire others.
Gasp! A theme!
Also the mention of fractured memories...intriguing!
And will no-doubt dovetail into the upcoming time-travel/flashback episodes.
I am excited.
An aside: Kara’s gonna be so distressed that she missed out on all these big emotional milestones.
“J’onn and M’gann soul-bonded? Alex and Kelly moved in together? Lena and Brainy engaged in healthy coping mechanisms???”
She’s gonna have so many Hallmark cards to buy.
*Card with a cute smiley face on it* *opens it up* ‘Congrats on not murdering your brother!’
I’m sure there’s a bunch of other great stuff I’m missing but that’s all I can remember at the moment, so!
TL;DR - SO MANY FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELINGS! From everyone! It was great.
NEXT WEEK: Phantom Friends Fight to Find a Feasible Flight from the Frigid Fathomage of the Former Fort Rozz!

Today on P5S, we’re taking a nice relaxing dip in the hot sprin--
Fukuoka, Kyushu! The plan was to keep going straight through to Kyoto, but Makoto was hurting from all the driving, so we pulled over with the intention of spending the night in a proper hotel and having a good meal. Which, of course, means ramen, because we gotta try the local ramen in each place. ^_^
Even Morgana wanted to try, though he requested that Akira blow on it, first, because “feline tongues are sensitive.”
The plan was to stay in Fukuoka until Makoto was feeling better, but Zenkichi called and basically said we had to get to Kyoto right away. So after a night of sleep, we got up the next morning, and we finally learned why Haru hasn’t been driving, despite having her license.
My wife has a lead foot.
Apparently no one but Joker and Queen ever drove the Mona Bus, because everyone but Makoto seemed extremely surprised.
Supposedly it was eight hours to Kyoto. We were there by noon.
Anyway, this old bar is apparently Zenkichi’s safe house, if anything ever goes wrong on an investigation.
He’s tracked the list of names that we found in the lab back to a politician called Jyun Owada, who was apparently a Shido supporter. This guy would benefit from changes of heart, and one of his supporters is the CEO of Madicce, Mr. Akira Konoe. They determine that Owada wouldn’t have a Jail himself, but that he’s probably getting Konoe to influence people for him. Which means that, since Sophia sensed a Jail in Osaka (that we missed because we were all screaming at Haru’s driving), it’s most likely that Konoe is a Monarch.
So my dart hit the board, I just gotta see how close to the bullseye.
Zenkichi heads to Osaka for a meeting with Konoe to try to get his keyword, and convinces the kids to stay behind. They need to rest and recover so they can be at their best for the Jail. Plus, he’s put them up in the nicest hotel in Kyoto! Which means it’s time to go to the hot springs!
The boys are having a lovely time relaxing. Even Morgana’s chilling on a rock with his tail in the water, basking in the chance to really unwind.
.......Atlus. We need to have words.
Not only was this absolutely unnecessary...
It’s the exact same scenario as P3. We’re even in the same goddamn city. If I thought Gekkoukan would be willing to spend 40K per person a night, it might as well be the same hotel.
Apparently, the boys went in right before the time switched over, and didn’t realize. And now, once again, they’re up for an unjust execution. At least Yosuke and Teddie were actually peeping in P4.
Personally, I think a better plan would have been to start yelling, “Who’s there?” as soon as the girls came in. Sneaking just makes it look like you’re up to something nefarious. It was an honest mistake. And really, trying to get out without causing a scene isn’t a heinous crime.
We don’t see who knocked over the thing that got them caught, but they do get caught. There’s no gameplay here. Defeat is inevitable. And...
The girls jump immediately to accusing them of being perverts. Never mind that they’re wet because they just got out of the damn hot spring. And the boys try to explain. They try their best. They explain that they didn’t realize the time had switched. They explain that they’d gotten locked in without noticing, because the men’s side doors lock when it switches over. “It was an accident,” Akira says, plaintively.
And Makoto looks at these boys that she’s fought alongside for over a year. The ones who risked their lives to save her and everyone more than once. The teammates that she stood beside as they shot a god and saved the entire damn world. The ones who, on this very roadtrip, stepped in to defend Haru from Natsume being a harassing jackass... And she says...
She sounds actually angry.
And she beats them up.
For an honest mistake.
I know this is a trope, but in this particular instance, it’s stupid, and it feels incredibly out of character. None of the boys deserve this, but Akira least of all. He’s your goddamn leader; he’s done more for any of you than anyone else. He’s been falsely accused of shit over and over, and now he has to deal with it from his own teammates?
For shame, Atlus. Shitty writing, especially because this event is never going to be brought up again. Was this supposed to be funny? Because in this situation, it wasn’t at all.
...now that I’m done being cranky, let’s go check how Zenkichi’s meeting in Osaka is going.
Hm. Nowhere, apparently, because Konoe’s gone for the day. Weird. Zenkichi had an appointment and everything.
Now let’s check on... well fuck.
Commissioner Kaburagi, Zenkichi’s boss, is summoned by the commissioner general and the previously mentioned Owada. This asshole is claiming to have evidence that the Phantom Thieves are behind all the changes of heart. They hacked into EMMA!
You’ve got a lot of fucking nerve, when you’re the one behind this.
.......maybe this lady is better than I thought.
She says that there’s not enough proof, and that they need to look into things more. The commissioner general counters that the Thieves are going to be tried for murder. Because apparently they killed that poor man at the Okinawa facility after they learned how to get into EMMA.
Kaburagi knows this is bullshit and wants to investigate more, but they basically tell her to do it or else. And promise that she’ll be commissioner general one day. After the current commissioner general launches his political career with the capture of the Phantom Thieves, of course. And she’s just going to follow orders. Never mind. God. I didn’t misjudge her at all.
Konoe goes on TV and announces that they’re shutting down EMMA temporarily, because the Phantom Thieves hacked it and stole personal information. He also informs everyone that they murdered one of his employees. Zenkichi and I had the same reaction, which was “WHAT?!”
Look at this asshole.
Zenkichi realizes what’s going to happen and takes off for Kyoto. Cut to that night, where there’s an entire fucking squad of police outside of the hotel in riot gear. For seven teenagers. Zenkichi shows up and basically pleads with Kaburagi to stop and think, because the real mastermind is still out there.
Kaburagi snaps back with, “You mean like with your wife?” and Zenkichi shuts up. Low blow, lady. She also points out that he seems very attached to criminals.
Before Kaburagi can have the police storm the place, Zenkichi yells for the kids to run, and gets arrested for it. The kids make it to the safe house, but when they find out about the arrest, they want to go after him. They end up agreeing to let Makoto handle that, and then we get a look at King Asshole himself.
I hate how nice this man’s office is.
And I’m kind of afraid of EMMA.
Good luck with that, though. You’d have to break them first; you can’t change the heart of someone stable enough to have a persona. Not that this fuck would know that.
God, he’s like if Shido and Maruki had a fucked-up kid. He wants his own personal team capable of entering the metaverse and changing people, to make the world “better”. Holy fuck.
Somehow I don’t think you’re the one in the right, when you’re talking about making us a “sacrifice to bring about [your] new world order.”
So the next day, the Thieves get a text from Akane’s phone number, that basically says she’s been kidnapped. It’s clearly a trap, but they all agree that they have to go. According to the text, if they want her back, they need to come to Inari Taisha.
Also known as Fushimi Inari, the largest Inari Shrine in Japan. I’ve been there.
I have literally been right there. I have a picture:
And so the kids head into a Jail based on Fushimi Inari where the keyword is “Phantom Thieves”, and I try not to explode from sheer glee because oh boy I thought I’d have to wait a lot longer for this and also I didn’t expect it to be somewhere I know.
Eeeeeeeee~
They find Akane tied up and all go running towards her. Futaba trips, and before she can catch up, a huge cage snatches up the rest of them, because surprise, the Jail Monarch is Akane, and she’s absolutely ready to lord it over them.
Meanwhile, Zenkichi is getting beaten up in interrogation and taking it like a champ.
But it’s okay, because Makoto called in a favor. <3
Futaba managed to get back to the safe house, and Zenkichi met up with her there after Sae got him released.
So you know that bit in P5 where the phan-site poll hits 100% belief and we summoned a demon the size of a skyscraper? That’s Zenkichi right now, except he’s hitting Maximum Dad Energy and I’m pretty sure he’s going to summon his persona.
There’s a cool stealth sequence where you have to sneak by a bunch of shadows, because Zenkichi doesn’t have a persona. Futaba runs navigation for him, but it’s so funny because he... sneaks like a regular person. He doesn’t leap into cover with superhuman speeds.
It might have been cool to play Zenkichi With A Gun, but stealth mode was fun, too. XD
And then the confrontation with Akane. She gives the Thieves a choice of who wants their heart changed first, but before anyone can stupidly volunteer, Zenkichi shows up, and a few more things get revealed. Most importantly, the fact that Owada is the one who killed Zenkichi’s wife, and Zenkichi got death threats directed at Akane if he didn’t stop investigating. No fucking wonder he couldn’t solve the case. But Akane is too disillusioned to listen, because she doesn’t understand. And Zenkichi is forced to confront that at some point, he compromised his morals, telling himself he was doing it for Akane.
This line wasn’t sung, but I kind of wish it was, considering who his persona is. :P
Zenkichi admits that he might have been wrong. But he was doing it to protect the only family he had left.
“But at least I know what makes a person evil. Evil only cares about itself. It’s the mark of a man who would bring another to ruin and dare not show remorse.”
And his awakening was badass.
Shitty picture, but his literal shadow had glowing eyes while it was forming the contract. It was so cool. :D
Wolf is awesome. After beating up a whole hoard of shadows by himself, Akane got away, the Thieves were freed, and we all went back to the safe house to rest. And I swear, you take a nap for one hour, and cannot get any peace. XDDD
Thank you, darling. Now I gotta figure out what deck that’s from.
So that was today. Technically I only played for like...2 and a half hours?? But god, we hit the hot springs and everything just flung itself directly off a cliff and all I could do was hold on.
I have so many thoughts about things!!! But I need to see more first. But this has been fantastic overall.

2, 21, 27, F for Alec c:
Woo thanks again for my edgy goth son asks XD These are actually way less angsty then Pépin’s, again. Which I find kind of funny but Alec has a support network with Dragon’s Watch, the Pact and other OCs like Casey etc whereas Pépin has...no one basically.
2. How easy is it for your character to laugh?
It took Alec a few years to truly learn to laugh easily with Casey. He still doesn’t laugh much, just normally smiles at but sometimes if he does find something funny he’ll suprise himself by laughing, but he’s no longer scared of expressing himself if he feels safe and with people who he truly trusts (If that makes sense, I mean he basically wore a muzzle for 10 years and was probably not treated well by the adults at the orphanage). I think the first time he laughed in front of Marjory and Kasmeer they thought he’d been replaced.
21. Why do they get up in the morning?
This has changed a lot over his life;
When in the orphanage he was barely really existing, more of a shadow of a person.
Then with Casey there were some days he just couldn’t cope but she'd always be there to make sure he knew that they had each other through thick and thin which would help him get through the day.
While fighting Zhaitan and without Casey for support (She’s not dead she’s still at Divinty’s Reach!!) he actually started slipping back into being a shadow but Trahearne’s support actually really helped Alec and the Marshall’s sheer determination and charisma made Alec truly believe in the cause they were fighting for.
During the events in the Maguuma Jungle were very hard for Alec, to him it seemed no one else had the urgency to Rescue Trahearne or the rest of Destiny’s Edge and the constant fighting against Mordrem was hard, especially as they had once been allies he knew and fought alongside. He was very very close to giving up but he couldn’t until he knew what had happened to Trahearn and helped protect the egg.
AAaaanndd at the moment not sure as I’m currently playing the Living World story that happens after HoT!
27) What causes them to feel dread?
Not much can instill a deep unnerving dread in Alec anymore, but there are a couple of things;
Anything that can corrupt or twist another person, I’m pretty sure in the personal story you had to kill at least two allies/friends who had been corrupted, and considering a lot of the Mordrem where members of the Pact they were definitely your allies at one point. And when Trahearne had asked to be killed? Alec, well nearly completely lost himself to the dark magic inside himself (thus the missing arm). So yeah whenever there is magic that can twist people he tries to get them to stay away and he’ll deal with it himself.
He can’t kill any more of his friends he just can’t.
Another thing is Airships/Travel. You are literally in a helicopter crash when you have to fight the Stomach of Zhaitan, then you fight Zhaitain on a VERY bumpy ride on an airship, THEN the entire Pact Fleet is obliterated and you have to scavenge through it’s smoldering remains and realise almost everyone you’d fought with is probably dead and THEN THE NEXT TIME YOU GO ON AN AIRSHIP YOU ARE IN A WEIRD EXPLOSION OF BLOOD CRYSTALS.
Alec is absolutely terrified of flying now, like would probably cry if he has to get on one again.
Finally the idea of him becoming something himself that hurts the people he cares about, but he pushes this one deeeeep down and doesn’t think about it.
F) What do you feel when you think of your OC (pride, excitement, frustration, etc)?
A mix of stuff really! I really liked writing and working on ideas for Alec, especially with him being linked to the dragon’s evil magic but still being a good person. I was also really pleased when I was like, omg he can see tHROUGH HIS MINIONS EYES! And the reason he keeps the blindfold on because he finds the world too overwhelming but takes it off around those he trusts such as Trahearne and Casey (and a couple of others) is tenderness that ate a hole in my own heart. (If I do say so myself)
I do however get super frustrated at how Arena seems to write the Protag? You can’t argue with the unjust treatment of Canach, you can’t stand up for Taimi to her superiors who arses to her and you barely react after putting your friends out of their misery. I guess it’s so you CAN put your own emotions into it but in game Alec feels like a damn robot.
I also find it frustrating because I was like, this would be a good point for Alec’s life to improve- oh great the story has thrown him into a bloodstone airship explosion guess I am writing more angst into his story. But this isn’t a bad frustration more a, damn when will I be able to cheer this boy up >.<
Thanks again <3

SU rewatch- S1E10- Steven’s Lion
Lights up. A magical pink lion enters stage right.
And really, what a perfect fit for a magical boy who has- on multiple occasions- fulfilled many a Disney princess trope. Let’s make a count... He’s got a deceased parent, has broken into song while looking out at sea, possesses healing tears + other various powers, is essentially space royalty (although he doesn’t know that yet), and in this ep- gains an animal sidekick.
A rather docile sidekick, for a legit lion.
Y’know, Lion’s docile nature makes a lot more sense with more recent knowledge we’ve gained about Rose’s pink zombification power via the official Steven Universe podcast- namely, how both Lion and Lars don’t need to eat anymore. (And how food tastes completely bland to them now.) No wonder this big cat never makes any moves, he’s probably long since figured out that there’s no need to kill for food anymore.
It’s also probably why he likes Lion Lickers- he’s literally got bad taste ahahahah XD
This image is so sweet though, awww. Look at this boy cuddle up to this oversized house cat. I’m... admittedly concerned at how trusting it is, but at least we all have the foreknowledge that Lion poses no threat.
Steven: “Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl are coming! Quick, put my head in your mouth-”
Buddy. Buddy. Why are you like this. Steven. Why you wanna scare the bejesus outta your guardians. You’re gonna make them reform with grey hair, Steven. Gawdddd.
Steven: “Lion, I gotta go. I had a lot of fun. I think you really get me!”
I have to wonder if this statement runs a bit deeper than just... Steven’s typical M.O. of personifying and befriending anything/anyone. ‘Cause like, at this point in the show? He’s got a supportive dad and the Gems clearly adore and dote on him, and he’s a pretty extroverted kid, but... all the same, I kinda get some lonely vibes from him. After all, there’s a big difference in having a lot of people in your life and also feeling heard by those people. Feeling like a part of the group. Feeling understood.
Steven can count on his dad for a loooooot, Greg’s wonderful- but he’s also just human. He doesn’t always understand all the Gem stuff his son gets up to, and for that reason naturally won’t be able to relate with all of his problems. And the Gems all love him, but he’s often left out of activities. They’re just as bemused by many of his human activities as his dad is to Gem ones. He talks a lot with people in town, like Lars and Sadie, but much of it early on doesn’t seem to go far beyond the typical Steven-y small talk. He hasn’t gotten the chance to really connect with all of these people, and he hasn’t made a friend his age who really understands both sides of his life yet. Someone who gets him. (He’s not there with Connie yet, but he will be.)
I think deep down Steven is very aware of this, even if he barely ever brings it up.
It’s always in these lighthearted seeming moments that I catch little glimpses of this kid’s inner insecurities hiding around the curtain.
I major dig Steven and Amethyst’s couch pillow fort. Big childhood vibes right there. That’s like, all I did as a kid. That and lose toy cars in the sandbox forever ahfhshjgh. But never mind all that!
Steven: “We’re together again!”
Indeed, my young sir. The bearer of the Pink Diamond gem and the lion brought back to life by the original Pink Diamond. Reunited at last. ;w;
We’re all in agreement that this is why Lion followed Steven home, right? Because he sensed his gem and recognized who’s it was? Hmm, though I still do wonder how Lion came to be alone in the middle of the desert in the first place.
Um. Why is Steven’s idea of what “best friends” do an extreme life-or-death trust fall? Or... throwing a ball back and forth? Oh my god, please get this kid some real friends.
He’s so extroverted, and so genuinely friendly... able to talk to anyone, but this just makes it so blindingly obvious how little he’s been socialized around any other kids his age. Before Connie it was only Peedee, and he practically doesn’t count based on how quickly he was forced to grow up to help run the family business. Again, as said above, he’s got legit good relationships with his family, but family is different from friends. Both are so, so important in their own ways.
Steven: “I’m ordering for two!”
Ronaldo: [spittakes]
Ronaldo: “STEVEN’S PREGNANT???”
This scene is flippin’ ICONIC. My god.
Additionally, it’s the first time we get to see Kiki and Kofi, and the interior of Fish Stew Pizza!
Steven: “Onion, you believe me, right?”
The expressions in this scene crack me up, Steven’s legitimately upset to have lost Onion’s approval jhfshjg
Steven. I know you’re upset at the idea that Lion didn’t return for you, and only came for the pillow, but please explain what good yeeting it like fifty feet away will do. This child exudes Big Clueless Energy sometimes, I swear.
Nonetheless, he clearly wasn’t listening earlier when Pearl was nagging Amethyst to keep it off the sand.
And look where that got him! :D
On his own, separated from the rest of the Gems’ help, vying to retrieve an artifact that- when active- poses a legit threat to his safety. For as unwise as he was to throw the pillow in the first place, he makes up for his lapse in logic here with his sheer determination. Look at this young man go! He sees what needs to be done and he jumps right to it.
He would’ve succeeded too, if it weren’t for how crumbly the desert glass castle was. Thank goodness for Lion’s loyalty, or else he could’ve gotten really hurt here.
Steven: “Lion! You didn’t come here to steal the pillow... You came here to protect us from it!”
I think he’s half right on this. As previously stated, I’m of the opinion that Lion originally followed Steven because he recognized the gemstone of his healer. I also think that when he saw the pillow and began fixating on it, he was kinda bein’ all... “put that sucker away, you dummies!” I mean, if he lived in the same desert as the desert glass for all that time then I’m sure he’s grown to recognize its power.
But in the end Steven has no reason to assume Lion has any connection to his mom, so it’s a fair assumption to make.
I really like how the artists transition from the muted, limited color pallet to the normal full-saturation one when Lion and Steven burst out of the wall with the artifact in hand- that’s a cool touch.
Aaaand then...
Whomp. There they gooo ;D;
Enough epic heroism for the day, now it’s time to face plant into the dirt. I love Lion’s little disgruntled face here, heheh.
Pearl: “Are we really going to let him keep that?” Garnet: “We kept Amethyst.” Pearl: “Oh! Kept Amethyst. Oh, Garnet, that’s priceless!”
This is funny on its own, but it also reminds me that we haven’t truly gotten to see how Amethyst met the Crystal Gems yet. That’s one of the top five things I’m betting season six will tackle- I’m sure there’s more to how that happened, perhaps an arc relevant reason why Amethyst overcooked in the first place. And if not that, then it’d be a fun flashback story to tell.
(Are we really sure there’s no other Gems who also overcooked on Earth? Who maybe... haven’t even emerged yet? I’d be really surprised if Amethyst was the only one, to be honest.)
With this episode, though, the show’s finally introduced all the big characters who we’ll get to know more as the season progresses. The foundation has been officially laid! Every episode from here on out begins to build upon this foundation more and more.
Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you in Arcade Mania!

Horrify Me
REQUEST: Hello dear! Can I request a chanyeol smut and fluff. More specifically, you two were watching a horror movie tgt and it gets steamy. Slay me with your writings, sweetie! Love you!
I hope you like it, anon (and anyone else)! It may be more smutty than fluffy, but when it comes to Chanyeol I can’t really control myself - sorry xD lovelovelove
Enjoy...
It had taken him a long time to convince me to watch a horror movie with him - in fact, I’d made him watch a chick flick he hated first, to test how much he’d do to get me to do his will. Much to my despair, he’d done it without complaining at all. Chanyeol knew exactly how my mind worked. So now, here I was, watching some dumb scary film while we could’ve been doing, I don’t know, anything else. It was date night, but the dismal weather outside put us off of leaving his apartment. Stupid rain.
I was not a big fan of horror myself, and neither was Chanyeol; he just liked the idea of comforting me if I got scared and looking brave and manly (he admitted this himself). And if this had been your average horror film, he might have gotten his wish - decent ones had the ability to keep me up late at night and leave me too petrified to move, imagining that murderers were standing in the dark corner of my bedroom and waiting for me to make any sign that I knew of their presence before coming to brutally end my life or kidnap me for their own evil purposes. This particular one, however, was plain awful. The actual plot was confusing and terrible, the acting even more dismal, and the ‘jumpscares’ almost laughable. In fact, it was almost scary just because of how bad a film it was.
I sighed to myself, letting my head fall onto Chanyeol’s shoulder and nuzzling into him. He was warm, another incentive to stay in while the rain slapped against the windows outside. His lips came down to my ear, tickling the delicate skin around it.
“Are you scared?”
“Mm... If it makes you happy then I am”.
“That’s not how it works”.
I laughed, glancing up to see Chanyeol’s pouty expression and his puppy dog eyes gazing down at me. “I’m sorry, but this isn’t exactly the scariest of films, is it? Where did you even get it?”
“I saw people talking about it online... On reflection, I probably should’ve read what they were actually saying about it”, he scratched his head sheepishly and I rolled my eyes. “Don’‘t roll your eyes, how do you think I feel? I went through your stupid movie just so I could watch this!” I snorted, averting my eyes back to the screen.
“It’s a good job I just enjoy spending time with you and that your longness provides me such good cuddles, you know, or else I might have left”.
“Liar”, he scoffed; but I could see a proud grin cross his face out of the corner of my eye.
After ten minutes of content silence, Chanyeol broke it again with, “Honestly, Y/N, this acting is terrible”.
“You say that as if I can’t tell... Ooooh, Chanyeol!” I whined, wriggling around in impatient irritation, “When is it going to be over?!”
He just laughed rubbing the top of my head affectionately before moving his eyes back to the film. It seemed he was determined to watch the whole thing, reluctant to give into my whinging. I guessed that it was half because he felt bad about making me watch it in the first place, but didn’t want to admit it. Why does he have to be so stubborn... Stupid Chanyeol... My eyes travelled away from the screen and onto my lap, where the hand that had just been on my head now rested. Chanyeol always had warm hands. It was nice. I looked at his hand before picking it up and bringing it right in front of my face. “You have long fingers, Chanyeol”.
“It’s funny that you should sound so surprised, Y/N, I really would’ve thought you’d know that by now”. I just caught his eyes briefly leaving the screen to glance at me with his smug answer, and I immediately felt my face heat up - but, it also occurred to me that this could be a way to put a pause to the film watching for good.
“I don’t know why you think that - I wouldn’t have any way of knowing that at all”, was my innocent reply as I kept my hands glued to his fingers. I could feel his eyes on me.
“Really?”
“Really. It looks like they’d be pretty talented”.
“They are”, I could hear his smirk, “you would know”.
“You’re right; I often listen to you playing the guitar and piano. You’re very good at the fast bits, but sometimes I wonder whether you could improve... Maybe you need a little bit more practice when it comes to your speed... Oooh, so scary, Chanyeol oppa”, I laughed as he growled at my mockery, expecting my plan to work at any second.
The next thing I knew, I was being pinned to the sofa, and Chanyeol’s oh-so-gorgeous eyes were boring into mine. “I can be scary if I want to be, can’t I?” His voice was light and joking, but his eyes were dark, glinting with the lust I had been trying to create. Before I got a chance to reply, his lips were ghosting down my neck, teeth grazing at my skin. My breathes were already beginning to get stuck before they left my mouth, the anticipation I felt already too high. I let out a a moan that was near impossible to hear as Chanyeol sunk his teeth into my neck and begun to suck on the skin.
“Wh-What are you, are vampire or something..?” His deep chuckle was enough to turn me on even more.
“Would that scare you, jagi?”
“No... Unless you want the answer to be yes!” I added as he bit me harder. He chuckled against my skin again before removing himself from my neck and resting his forehead on mine.
“So I have something to prove to you, do I? Something I need to work on?” My face felt as though it was on fire; I hadn’t meant what I’d said at all, and he knew it, and now I was slightly embarrassed. I said nothing. “You’re quiet now, Y/N-ah... are you scared you won’t be able to take it?”
“I can take it”. We stared at each other in silence, the movie now background noise. Chanyeol’s hand, which had been resting on my shoulder, moved down my body, fingers dancing across my skin, leaving behind what felt like a trail of fire. Ironic. I shuddered, breath hitching, hands balling the fabric of his t-shirt into my fists. His hand continued it’s path down my body until it reached my thigh; this is where it stopped. I looked up at Chanyeol expectantly, not feeling up to his teasing. He was smirking, but wasn’t looking back at me. Instead, he was staring at the area just above my thigh. He began to hum softly and drew gentle, teasing patterns on my skin, edging closer and closer to where I wanted him to be. Damn me for changing into my comfy pyjama shorts. I leant my head back, unable to bear watching him torture me like he was. I closed my eyes, revelling in the attention my boyfriend was giving me, in his gorgeous, deep hum.
“You’re so pretty... jagiya...” I let out a long groan as Chanyeol slowly slid a finger inside me, his hum now one of approval at my reaction. His movements remained slow and precise, and I opened one eye to look down at him. His lower lip was between his teeth, and his face emitted concentration. It turned me on all the more to see how much effort he was making to make sure he proved himself, to make sure I felt good, to see how intently, and how hungrily he was staring at my body. His eyes turned upwards to look at my face, and I was surprised to hear him moan along with me. “Look at you... look at you... You look so damn hot, Y/N... Look how ready you are for me... Look how beautiful you look when you feel good... Fuck, Y/N”, he groaned, squirming a little along with my more violent wriggles of sheer pleasure. He still watched me, and as I looked down at him ready to plead him to go faster, he smirked; it was almost as if he could read my mind. He pulled his one finger out painfully slowly before slamming it back in with the addition of another two. I yelped out, my back arching.
“Chanyeol...! Chanyeol... Ch-Chanyeol!” I whined, my body moving with his fingers without my noticing it. I soon found that the only word that my brain could remember was his name, and he was doing everything he could to encourage my behaviour further. My hands searched for something to grab onto, and they soon found Chanyeol’s hair. I ran and tangled my fingers through his locks, and he let out a low moan as I did so, pushing my legs further apart. The next thing I knew, his mouth was joining his fingers. My heart pounded in my chest as I let out what sounded like a strangled sob. Chanyeol hadn’t really experimented with this before, but it seemed he was naturally gifted. It wasn’t long until I was shaking on the sofa, panting. I was completely subject to Chanyeol’s every action, putty in his hands. I tugged his hair roughly and he growled loudly, nipping my thigh in response to my pull. I whined, my head now hanging over the edge of the sofa. Everything was beginning to become too much to bare, and I was aware that my body wouldn’t be able to take this for much longer, if at all. “B-Babe... Chanyeol, please...” He simply hummed in response, causing vibrations that drove me even more wild than I already was. His tongue was working magic on me, and I was beginning to see stars. “Chanyeol!” It was a warning, a sign that I was on the verge of finishing - but he didn’t remove himself, burying himself further into me, fingers moving impossibly faster somehow. I screamed his name, making sure he knew that he really had proved himself, using his hair to pull him closer and closer to me as I finally found my climax, the feeling like fireworks, explosive and out of control. Chanyeol, after leaving smatters of kisses over my thighs and stomach, came up to kiss me deeply, his hands now mirroring mine and burying themselves in my hair. I smiled softly against his lips, a feeling of exhaustion coming over me. I felt him smile back before he pulled away.
“Good?”
“No”.
“O-Oh..! So-”
“Amazing, Chanyeol”, he sighed in relief, chuckling and resting his forehead on mine.
We were quiet, both of us tired, before he broke the silence, “An evening well spent, I’d say. If you want, we could - SHIT!”
We both jumped as a horrifyingly piercing scream filled the room. Chanyeol sat up, both of our heads whipping towards the TV screen. The credits to the terrible film were now rolling; we had both completely forgotten about it. Chanyeol turned to look back at me with a satisfied grin.
“Told you I’d scare you”.

Tales of Berseria and Vesperia :D
Berseria (spoilers can happen!)
best girl?
Velvet. Just. Yeah.
best boy?
Eizen. Just, yes.
any ship/s?
Zaveid/Eizen, Velvet/Oscar, Rokurou/Velvet. I guess Velvet/Eleanor can be cute too.
favorite part of the game?
Mid-point Everythinggoestoshit starting with Heading to Deadgant to face Oscar, with it’s culmination in the Earthpulse and Phi’s determination to make sure Velvet lives. Ugh. My feels. So good.
opinion on the mascot character (if applicable)?
Bienfu is annoying but funny. Kind of like Normin, but amplify the annoying by about ten.
opinion on villain/s? (in the least spoilery way)
Again, I love the way the villains in Zestiria/Berseria have a lot of grounds in being a victim. Still, the game doesn’t forgive them for it, even if it makes you understand them. All in all, I found myself occasionally understanding where he was coming from, but ultimately unable to accept his answer to fixing things.
main team of 4, and who did you play as mostly?
Eizen, Eleanor, Laphicet, Magilou. Played Eizen and Velvet mostly (Switch Blast) and Roku had to just… be there occasionally when I needed to switch out Magi or Laphi because they have so low physical defense.
favorite town/city/area?
A lot of areas are GREAT in this game. I love the small nods to locations in Zestiria, and the way places and people made you realize what would change in the coming 1000 years. All in all, though, I probably loved Meirchio the most.
favorite or most used arte?
Dragon Dive (doesn’t count, it’s a break soul). Also, Last Throes initiated practically all my combos.
favorite music track?
Give me all the variations of Velvet’s Theme, yes. Also Eizen’s theme. And since we’re on the subject, why not ‘The Last Word’ to wrench my heart out
favorite monster?
I have a lot of favourite monsters, but fighting against the incomplete Kamui (Armatus) was kind of amazing.
Vesperia (Spoilers will happen)
best girl?
Estelle. I love her.
best boy?
Considering everyone should know this by now, if you haven’t already thought ‘Yuri Lowell’ by the time you get here, gtfo my blog.
any ship/s?
Fluri & Ristelle. Pretty much Canon anyway, so *rolls*
favorite part of the game?
MANYMANYMANY. Uh… what springs to mind immediately is the scene after Fighting Flynn One on One at Aurnion? I dunno, it’s just… great.
opinion on the mascot character (if applicable)?
REPEDE IS BEST MASCOT. He’s also playable so it’s a grey zone but he won best mascot this year again (Good boy) so it counts!
opinion on villain/s? (in the least spoilery way)
Vesperia is my favourite in the series, ESPECIALLY because of the villain situation. Most Tales games have a situation where you fact the villain in different ways up until the end point, but Vesperia does a great job of flipping that around spectacularly.
Also, Vesperia is probably the only game where I’ve been INCREDIBLY inclined to agree with the villain at their motivations in the end, and it’s just Yuri’s sheer amount of ‘well, fuck you’ that pulls me right back XD
main team of 4, and who did you play as mostly?
Yuri, Flynn, Estelle, Rita. Duh. Also I’ve currently played Yuri 99% of my latest playthrough, so—
favorite town/city/area?
Vesperia’s towns and areas always strike me as beautiful, even almost (soon!) ten years later. But the inner areas of Zaude are just so great? Like, seriously, this game is so pretty I could cry.
favorite or most used arte?
Yuri shouts 「爪竜連牙斬!」(Dragon Swarm) at least once every battle for me (often in hilarious combination with Flynn’s… much less… extravagant execution of it) so it’ll have to be that.
favorite music track?
Fluri Fury Sparks, no doubt.
favorite monster?
Uuuuuuuuuh. I keep forgetting monster names for these questions. I love the big turtle things! also the stars. They’re hilarious to hit.

Digimon Adventure tri. - Chapter 4: Loss | Thoughts
So . . . I thought it was pretty good? I did read a few spoilers and people seemed to think it was really, really bad. So maybe because I expected it to be so bad that when it wasn’t that bad, I thought it was pretty good? If I were to rank the films so far, from best to worst . . .
3 (Confession), 4 (Loss), 2 (Determination), 1 (Reunion).
I liked the opening. I didn’t particularly care for it (because my interest in Maki and Daigo is about -7), but I liked it.
Yokomon being a complete bitch to Sora because she accidentally stepped on her once . . . All the digimon were right to be cautious of the kids at first, but Yokomon acted like Sora was some axe murderer in hiding waiting to get her alone. It was just really weird and frankly felt forced (and lazy writing, just to give Sora conflict). Sora is the one who prepared all the food and made all the digimon happy . . . logically, you would think then, that out of all the digimon partners, hers would warm to her more quickly just for providing food. The other kids didn’t do anything, and yet the other digimon were more trusting of their partners. Logic fail. (And Sora tried so hard to get Yokomon to like her . . . seriously, Yokomon was written as a brick wall. So forced. I didn’t buy it.)
Tokomon warming to Takeru almost instantly was cute.
Tri. tries so hard to force the audience to like Meiko by Mimi and Sora’s sheer affection for the girl . . . and it just doesn’t work. I think Toei regrets making “Meiko”, because her merchandise really doesn’t sell. (I also think Toei initially wanted Meiko to be a “crush” for Taichi, but her underwhelming “popularity” has made them rethink that idea . . ..)
OMG I cannot get enough of the Takaishida brothers. That scene where Takeru is still hitting on his older bro is one of my favourites. XD I like this running joke. Give me more, tri.. :)
OK. The Taiorato scenes. The first scene I mostly liked. I had issues with some aspects of it (Yamato should’ve known what to do . . .), but I thought it was a good scene. It showed the dynamics between the three rather well. What I liked most (other than it being a rather intimate moment between the three), was that it was clear that Yamato was more in-tune and “aware” of Sora than Taichi was, who was completely clueless (as he always has been). It was the second Taiorato scene after that though that I really had issues with (man, Yamato’s characterisation really went down the drain, lol). But more on that in another post, ‘cause it’s very Sorato-y -- though it has to be said that you don’t have to be a Sorato shipper to have a problem with that scene . . . you just have to be able to recognise when Yamato's characterisation is “off”. Because it was.
Yamato asking if they should ask Takeru for help regarding Sora? In what world would a 17-year-old think a 14-year-old would understand a girl his age better? I generally really like tri. Takeru, but there’s a point when someone becomes too-good-to-be-true (and is almost always used as the picture of “perfection”). Takeru’s not a “perfect” person who can make any situation better, and is somehow supposed to have skills to be in-tune with girls’ emotions (that scene prior where Takeru says Meiko is a “normal” girl and accidentally offends Mimi and Hikari comes to mind). They need to tone it down a bit with the whole “Takeru is perfect” thing.
But . . . Yamato and Taichi were incredibly obtuse when it came to Sora’s problem, though. Like, incredibly. As in, forced writing. I also didn’t buy it. It would’ve been one thing if they just didn’t know how to handle Sora’s problem (although I would argue that Yamato should really be better at this than he was depicted in the film . . .), but the fact that they seemed totally clueless as to what was bothering her? I’m sorry, but when all the digimon are completely fine and then you have GIANT BITCH PIYOMON flying around, it defies logic (again) to have them be that obtuse. Weak writing is weak writing. I wish Sora had been given better material.
The scene between Daigo and Maki where he asks her if he could be her new partner . . . was so incredibly cheesy and made me laugh. It didn’t seem to fit in “Digimon”. Tri. turned into a love story between Daigo and Maki for a minute and . . . lol. It totally didn’t fit into what Digimon is. Odd scene.
I did like the reveal (albeit unoriginal) of Daigo and Maki being two of the original Chosen Children. It made them infinitely more interesting (which, because they weren’t interesting to begin with . . . just makes them OK characters now).
How incredibly odd was it for Piyomon to meet Meiko and warm up to her so quickly (A GIRL SHE JUST MET), and still be a total bitch to Sora (A GIRL WHO FED HER AND WAS NOTHING BUT KIND TO HER)??? Sora’s conflict is the core storyline of this film, and its foundation is just so weak. I know I keep repeating myself, but seriously. Some “good” came out of it (what it forces Sora to go through in the film), but it would’ve been so much better if the writers had actually attempted to come up with a logical reason for Piyomon to be a massive cunt to Sora for no particular reason (that is, a reason that isn’t forced as fuck).
Awww, Gabumon and the whole “Yamato-kun” thing was pretty cute. And Taichi’s jealously of not being called “Taichi-kun”, haha. :)
This film had so many parallel moments and homages to the first season. I quite liked the nostalgic throwbacks.
I really loved Yamato’s line, “I expect too much of [Taichi]”. So true. Taito feels, ON.
Meicoomon’s reunion with Meiko was pretty . . . weird. It just felt random (or just badly executed). And it was a bit funny with all her swipes at the air surrounding Meiko’s head (which is not the desired reaction, lol).
LMAO at Sora throwing rocks at “Gennai”. Also he used Meicoomon to boob-punch her . . . I know I shouldn’t find this funny, but I do. XD Funny in a am-I-really-seeing-this-over-the-top-shit-in-a-Digimon-series-way!?
Continuing with the inappropriateness . . . I also found it funny when he licked her. It just totally took me “out” of the whole film, like a jump-the-shark moment. “This . . . is Digimon?!” It was so weird and totally didn’t fit in with what you should expect to see in a Digimon series. I think the tri. writers were trying to be “risque” but instead it just made me think tri. really needed a better writing staff who knew how to keep to a tone. XD; (Also, Sora’s complete lack of reaction to the lick made it even weirder. Girl, some man who wasn’t Yamato just LICKED YOUR FACE. Please react to it to show that it was shocking/uncomfortable/disgusting for you. Again, tri. writers being incompetent, because Sora really should have given some reaction to it. A simple sound of disgust would’ve worked, to at least acknowledge that it was STRANGE. Sora took that lick almost like she gets licked every day by strangers -- and is pretty content to be licked. Her non-reaction was weirder than the lick itself.)
The scene was also getting to look pretty rape-y with him being on top of her for so long . . . and sorry-not-sorry, but get that shit out of Digimon. That shit stays in fanfiction for a reason. STOP BEING A FANFIC, TRI..
Sora pushes “Gennai” off her and he just goes down? Lol. How weak is this dude. Also, it was just weird to see “Gennai” act like a creepy dude. Again, it really didn’t fit what Digimon is.
LMAO at when Plotmon “puppy howls” at “Gennai” and everyone just runs. XD Was it supposed to be funny? XD THAT was their getaway??? XD (But Plotmon is cute as fuck. I want one. :3)
So after Sora tries to protect Piyomon . . . Piyomon decides to remove the giant stick up her arse and recognise how kind Sora has been ALL ALONG. Wow. Random, abrupt resolution there. WHAT IS THIS WEAK WRITING. Piyomon’s entire attitude changes in a blink of an eye. If you don’t have an issue with this, your standards are way too low when it comes to good writing and storytelling. Don’t get me wrong, I love how Sora got to shine and everything, but I wish the writers had backed it up with actual good writing. It really isn’t hard to get Piyomon to be weary of Sora without being an outright, illogical bitch.
OMG, the moment Jou charges at “Gennai”? HOW FUCKING GLORIOUS. It both shocked me and made me love Jou a lot, hahaha. GO HERO JOU!
Yamato can throw Gabumon into the air in water . . . DO YOU EVEN LIFT, BRO!? Apparently, he does. XD
Also, a tri. film where Taichi is in-character and I actually love him? Here, have bonus points, “Loss”. I loved all of Taichi’s interactions with Yamato in this film. Go Taito, go. But . . . that whole part where Taichi and Yamato were underwater and trying to go up for air? It made me laugh so hard. Partly because of the poor animation, but also just because . . . the entire thing was hilarious hahaha. It shouldn’t be, because they could’ve drowned, but . . . XD
Um . . . Machinedramon throwing Sora around – and especially AGAINST A CLIFF – really should have killed her. WTF. Yamato, you’re gonna end up with a woman who cannot die. Be prepared, son.
Sora literally clings to life because she wants to make meatballs for Piyomon again . . . LOL. Phoenixmon was born from a mutual love of meatballs. (OK, I’m just taking the piss. :P)
Why would Phoenixmon let Sora fall off of her without trying to swoop down to catch her? Weird. Also, Jou catching Sora was awesome, but again, totally defies logic that Sora didn’t crush his bones completely upon impact and killed both of them. :P And wouldn’t it have been awesome if Yamato and Taichi had joined them sooner so that Yamato could’ve caught Sora in his arms instead? *cough* (Jou was totally amazing in this film though. THE UNSUNG HERO.)
Patamon’s evolution to his Mega form was too random and easy, like they just wanted to get it over and done with and just stuck it in at the last minute. I personally don’t care that it was too easy, but it was. :P
The film’s ending made me interested in where the plot goes . . . and that’s a good thing!
Overall . . . I thought the film was pretty good, despite its weaknesses. If I seemed too critical for a film that I rank the second best so far in the tri. series, it’s because I really hate giant leaps in logic and poor writing. My criticism of this film basically boils down to the Sora/Piyomon conflict being entirely forced, and for having a few moments that really didn’t fit into Digimon at all.
The strength of this film though is its “action” and pacing, which makes it better than the first and second film. The first film was dull, even with good character interactions – its pacing was too slow. And the second film, though enjoyable, really was just filler. And I did like Sora’s character journey in this fourth film -- I just wish it had been for a better reason than Piyomon being a you-know-what. But Sora was amazing throughout this film and I love her. :P
Can the fifth and sixth film top this? I really hope so. I want to be able to look back on the entire series and think that it was good. That would be great, tri.. Do your best, please. ;)
