Not to curse you with another post about Dragon Quest 3 2D-HD
But I am finding that a certain very vocal percentage of DQ3 fans are extremely concerned about inclusion of the Ice Cave in 2D-HD (It was created for the GBC port and hasn't been included in any ports done since then, so I am not expecting it, nor has anything indicated it will be included).
Ice Cave is a second post-game dungeon that has requirements bordering on unhinged (and I say that knowing DQ3 has had a lot of extremely annoying/unpleasant/bordering on trolling but 80s trolling things in it, many of which have been removed or toned down in later ports) that require you to invest a significant amount of extra time into the game, most likely after everything else in the game is done.
None of the Ice Cave believers want to publicly discuss how much time they spend meeting the requirements to get into the dungeon, but I'd reckon getting all of monster medals (which are random drops and the odds of getting a medal are never better than 1/8 and the math gets harder from there) doubles, if not triples, the playtime of the game and adds nothing but random battles.
I've played the GBC port a lot (though I prefer the SNES port even with the issues of the fan translation) and I have never ever been inspired to do all of the work needed to enter the ice cave, let alone complete it.
I think it'd be fine as paid DLC or something but I cannot imagine the inner mechanics of the mind of a person whose purchase of 2D-HD hinges on whether the Ice Cave is included or not.
This isn't even touching any of the "controversies" with the Ice Cave, many of which are rightfully pretty contentious.
