Music to my ears dude. This is probably gonna be a long read so I'll put it under the cut

So tbf beacon is a very small piece of the puzzle that is the entire story of parliament of sorrow, I've just been trying to develop them more as of late. But I will gladly explain what I have so far

Ferris was orphaned at a very young age, like about 6-7 ish? Due to their village being destroyed [by what, idk yet. It used to be a war but I've since cut that part of the story]. Said village was part of the Valentine kingdom which is part of the love gods domain, and said love god is meant to protect those in her domain [there's a whole pantheon and stuff, every kingdom is protected by a god]

Ferris was then adopted by Beacon, who is the leader of the Petrifolk, which are beings made from gemstones and magic. Petrifolk are generally very reclusive, living in an underground cave and tunnel system. They very rarely ever visit the outside world because they just don't care to interact with organic society. The only one who really does is Beacon and other members of their council, in order to trade with neighboring villages for stuff like fabric and wood and whatever else you can't get underground, and during one of these ventures outside they were lucky enough to find ferris

The thing is, they are very unprepared to take care of an organic child. Petrifolk don't "raise" children. They do have something like a childhood, but that would just be "emerge from the ground -> go through their form of schooling -> graduate and you're on your own"

They don't need to eat, they don't need sunlight, frankly they don't even need that much socialization. They don't age, so they don't die, and thus they also don't know how to deal with sickness or grief because they don't experience any of that

This lead to a lot of... Unintentional child neglect from beacon. They really did try their best to learn all they could about taking care of a little avien child. And as ferris got older they did learn to sustainably take care of themselves, but that did not change the fact that beacon also couldn't meet ferris' emotional needs

This lead ferris to stew in their anger a lot. They missed their real parents, they missed their village, and most importantly they were so angry at the love god that was supposed to protect them and their village, but failed. Ferris started thinking to themselves that THEY could have done a much better job at being god....

Another thing about petrifolk is that they are usually tasked with hiding and protecting cursed objects. Since they are technically cursed objects themselves, they aren't affected by them, so no one has to worry about anyone becoming corrupted by any such things.

Sadly, ferris is flesh brained and thus CAN be corrupted by such things. And when they start hearing whispers from a cursed amulet called the jade of persuasion, talking about a plan that would make everything right for ferris again... Who are they to refuse

Bla bla bla plot and story stuff, ferris runs away and gets evil, becomes the main villain, main character kills them. Beacon becomes the first petrifolk to know grief. Yay!
