I personally headcanon that Star essentially recreating the magic and fixing up the magic realm by creating her unicorn daughter had more overreaching consequences than anyone realized.

She was at Eclipsa's level with a tainted wand and corrupted realm of magic and surpassed Eclipsa without a wand(Eclipsa is powerful but she relied on the wand too much and is more into the arcane, Star is create whatever comes to mind and pray it works).

Now, Star is planning to destroy the magic but when she resurrected herself and the magic all in one go she became the source of magic. She could destroy the realm of magic but she couldn't destroy magic because she is the magic.

So the magic came back but not before the realms merged. Except for one realm, the former realm of magic. Except Star wasn't alone when magic was "destroyed ", she had Marco with her both times.

So Glossaryck or whatever higher power exist here, decided: they just can't have one physical representation of magic, Star and Marco's souls were one due to the blood moon (I refuse to believe that they decided to cleave that bond); so why not make them both the breathing incarnations of magic unable to die and always by each other's side?
