omg please don’t think that acknowledging recurring imagery and metaphors and symbols in poetry in your corner of the internet means specific things are overdone and to be avoided. please trust that people write about what moves them and accept that there’s beauty in simply noticing these patterns in what moves people. do you wish that birds never appeared again in poems? in any way? do you wish to never hear the words death or rain or home or blood again? please don’t let your internet brainrot spread. you have the power to resist being cynical about poetry. trust me everything will be okay.

#i Get It i know all the dogs cannibalism machines etc etc are starting to smell suspiciously ‘trendy’#i personally find the popularity of oranges in poetry annoying. bc im p sure it’s just bc that one wendy cope poem got spread around #but that’s my own fuckinv problem plus in general i love to see the way ppl latch onto things #it’s actually v v cool to me that certain symbols can have HUGE moments in the literary world #it’s interesting to question why that happens and what it means for/about the zeitgeist #like mushrooms. we were obsessed w/ mycology for a hot second bc ppl started to notice things abt mushrooms that seemed #inherently anticapitalist and seemed to embody the concept of living in the midst of death #we had also been obsessed w/ the idea of apocalypse at that time. you see?
