Clean Enough?
(Sakusa Kiyoomi x Reader | Hurt/Comfort | Soft Angst with Fluff Ending) 6 months into dating. Reader knows Sakusa’s boundaries—but lately, she’s starting to worry… maybe he doesn’t want heranymore.
You weren’t mad. Not even a little.
Sakusa had always been clear from the start—sanitizing before meals, disinfecting after coming home, no sharing drinks, a healthy stash of alcohol sprays in every bag. It was never cruel. Never mean. It was just… him.
And you loved him. Genuinely. You even made it a point to carry extra sanitizing wipes in case he forgot. He liked that. He once called you thoughtful for it.
So no. You weren’t mad.
But somewhere between month five and six… something shifted.
Maybe it was the way his brows furrowed—not at you, but just in general—when you touched your face then reached for his hand.
Or maybe it was the one time you hugged him after a long commute, and he didn’t hug back until after a quick “Did you sanitize already?”
You had, by the way. You always did. But you didn’t say anything that time. You just smiled. Said “Sorry, forgot” and backed off.
That’s when it started.
You began sanitizing more.
Like, way more.
After you touched your phone. After you handed him something. After brushing your bangs away. After literally touching a pillow. The scent of alcohol clung to your fingertips like second skin. You kept a mini bottle in your pocket and a backup in your purse. Your hands started to sting sometimes—dry and a little red—but it was worth it.
Because you weren’t dirty. You weren’t gross. And maybe if you kept proving that, he wouldn’t get tired of you.
Right?
Sakusa noticed the shift on a Thursday.
He came over after practice, sweaty and tired, expecting to crash on your couch like usual. But instead, you were standing by the door with a cloth, wiping down the doorknob after he touched it—twice.
He blinked.
“Didn’t I already sanitize before coming in?”
You flinched a little. “I just thought—I mean, better safe than sorry, right?”
He hummed, walked past, and figured maybe it was nothing. You liked cleaning sometimes.
Until dinner.
You had already sanitized your hands once. Then twice. Then again after touching your water glass. Your wrist twitched every time you reached for something, as if some invisible voice whispered “He’s watching. Don’t mess up.”
By the time he reached across the table to touch your hand, you instinctively pulled back, grabbing your alcohol spray and rubbing your palms like your life depended on it.
“Y/N.”
You froze.
Slowly, you looked up. He wasn’t frowning. He wasn’t upset. But he was concerned.
“…Are you okay?”
Your chest squeezed tight.
“Of course. Why wouldn’t I be?” you replied, too quickly.
He didn’t push. But he kept looking at you like he wanted to. Like he already knew something was unraveling.
Later, after you changed into your pajamas and curled up on the couch beside him—just close enough to be near, but not enough to touch—he spoke.
Softly.
“You’ve been acting different lately.”
You blinked.
“I haven’t.”
“You have.”
Silence.
His hand hovered above your knee, hesitant. “Talk to me.”
Your throat tightened. You looked away, staring at your hands.
“They’re dry,” you said quietly. “From the alcohol.”
He waited.
And you hated that you were tearing up already. Because it felt so silly. Because you didn’t even know when the thought started—but now it was all-consuming.
“I just…” Your voice cracked. “I don’t want to be gross to you.”
Sakusa stilled.
“I know you have your reasons,” you rushed to say. “I’m not judging that—I respect it, I really do. But sometimes when you pause before touching me, or when you double check if I’ve sanitized, I can’t help but think maybe it’s me. Maybe I’m not clean enough. And if I’m not clean enough, you’ll… get tired of me. Or disgusted. Or—”
“Y/N.”
His voice cut through the spiral.
You looked up, teary-eyed. Like a small, cornered animal. Heart thudding.
Then his hand gently cupped your cheek, and for the first time in days, you didn’t flinch. You leaned in, barely breathing.
“You are not dirty. You are not gross. And I would never leave you over something like that.”
“But—”
“I pause because I’m anxious, not because of you. I double check because it’s a habit—not because I doubt you.” His voice was calm, firm, but gentle. “I know you take care. I know you try. And I hate that I made you feel like you weren’t enough.”
You blinked hard, a tear slipping down.
“I just don’t want to be someone you’re tolerating,” you whispered. “I want to be someone you want.”
He leaned in and kissed your forehead, slow and deliberate. Then he pulled your alcohol bottle from the table and gently set it aside.
“I don’t want you bathing in sanitizer to earn my love. You already have it.”
You buried your face in his chest.
And for the first time all week, you didn’t reach for the alcohol first. You reached for him.
(Sorry I haven’t been that active lately—university’s been on my back like a 30-pound backpack, and I’ve still got two more weeks to carry it before I can finally taste freedom 😭😭😭.)

⋆。°✩⋆。°。⋆
Your calendar had no color-coded blocks. No assignments. No meetings. Just one blank space stamped across the interface: DAY OFF.
It didn’t feel like relief though, just a boring day ahead of you.
You made breakfast and sat in the lounge with a coffee you barely tasted. Read the same paragraph in your data log five times without processing a single word.
Still, you could focus on nothing but the questions in your mind.
By noon, you were moving on instinct, feet carrying you to the gym without direction. You knew who would be there at this time.
You found Bucky where you usually saw him: stretching in the corner, his hoodie peeled down to his waist and gloves half-fastened. His expression didn’t shift when he saw you.
“You’re off today,” he said simply, gesturing to your plain clothes.
“So are you.”
“Not really,” he muttered, going back to the resistance band in his hands.
You sat on the bench across from him, watching the line of his shoulders tense and relax with each pull. A few beats passed in comfortable silence before you spoke.
“Can I ask you something?”
His hands paused mid-stretch. “You just did.”
You offered a dry smile. “About the people who worked with Bob before me.”
He exhaled through his nose. “What about them?”
You hesitated. “They didn’t last long.”
He rolled his wrists. “That happens.”
“What kind of happens?”
He looked at you then—flatly. “The kind that gets people reassigned. Burnout. Not getting along with him. The usual.”
You tilted your head slightly. “You and the team haven't ever experienced that around him, have you?”
“I’m not an empath,” he said, almost too easily. “I don’t absorb what I don’t need to.”
You watched him carefully, waiting for the twitch, some flicker of discomfort. But Bucky Barnes was good at hiding his emotions for everything. Better than good.
“You don’t think there’s something unusual about it?” you asked.
“No more than usual.”
He clipped the band back to the wall and stood, wiping his hands with a towel.
“Sometimes things don’t work out,” he said, voice neutral. “Doesn’t mean there’s a conspiracy.”
You narrowed your eyes. “You’re not curious?”
He shrugged. “Not really.”
But he didn’t meet your gaze.
And when he turned to grab his water bottle. "Please just don't go looking for trouble, y/n," he added quietly, "for your own good."
It hung in the air longer than it should have, with a surprising level of concern and care.
You stood a moment later, nodding like the conversation had satisfied something. Like you were any closer to the truth.
You walked away with your jaw tight and your throat dry.
No one was going to tell you anything.
Tumblr media
You weren’t trying to go anywhere.
That’s what you told yourself, anyway, as you walked the endless hallways of the tower. No destination. No objective. Your shoes padding across the floor. Doors passing on either side like silent, judgmental witnesses.
Maybe it was just your nerves. Maybe it was the way your own thoughts had started to echo louder than sound. You’d been craving something you were unsure of. A reason to feel more. But the deeper you wandered, the more hollow everything seemed.
At some point, your footsteps slowed.
And when you looked up, you realized where you’d stopped.
The hallway was empty. The lights overhead flickered once. And in front of you—just a few feet away—was his door.
You hadn’t been here since that first night, and you froze.
The panel glowed the same:
SECURITY OVERRIDE IN PLACE — MONITORED ACCESS ONLY
But again, no guards or cameras.
And for a moment, you felt it—the pull. Not from the Void. From something subtler. Like gravity. Like muscle memory.
You stepped closer.
Your hand hovered just inches from the lock pad, like you already knew the passcode to enter.
You didn’t even know why. You just—
CLICK.
The lock disengaged.
The door hissed slightly, then opened.
And standing there, backlit in soft white light, brown hair tousled, expression still -- was Bob.
Neither of you spoke, but he didn’t look surprised to see you. If anything, he looked relieved.
"You came," he said quietly.
You let your hand drop from the lock pad. “I didn’t mean to.”
He smiled faintly, stepping past the threshold and into the hallway with you. “Doesn’t matter. You still did.”
The door sealed shut behind him.
Silence stretched between you, but it didn’t feel cold. Just cautious.
You both stood there a long moment before Bob leaned against the wall beside you, folding his arms. "Did you speak with Bucky or Yelena?"
"I spoke to Bucky, but all I got was a whole lot of nothing," you huffed in frustration.
Bob nodded, "So back to square one? Maybe there's a different explanation for all of this."
"I'm confident about what I saw," you stressed, "Do you think it has something to do with the nightmares?"
Bob's jaw tensed slightly. "The nightmares, you're still having them?"
You swallowed, his response throwing you off. "You don't remember them?"
He paused.
"No."
You turned your head. "The Void takes all of your memories?"
His voice was quieter now. “There are gaps. Long ones. I know I’ve said things I don’t remember saying. Felt things I can’t explain. I used to think it was the Void blocking things out.”
"How can I stop him from," you started, before being cut off.
"You can't stop it, none of us can once it starts," he said sadly, "I'm sorry."
You exhale a breath you didn't realize you were holding before nodding slowly, taking in his response. He stared down at you then, his eyes scanning over your facial features, over every tick of non-verbal response. The guilt eating at him, making him feel so useless.
"It isn't your fault, I'm sorry for involving you."
He scoffed before suddenly picking up your hands, clasping them in-between your own. "Don't apologize. I've never felt bad for listening to you, please, if you have anything to get off your chest. I'm here for you."
You gazed up at him, feeling your heart rate speed up. Brows furrowed in confusion, you bobbed your head in agreeance. "I appreciate that."
"I appreciate you."
Tumblr media
You told yourself you were just passing by.
That your feet brought you here again out of habit. A wrong turn. An aimless loop through the admin level. But as you stood just around the corner from Dr. Harding’s office, that lie grew too heavy to hold.
The hall was quiet.
Her door, like always, was closed. But the lockpad light was green. Not red. Not yellow. Green.
Unlocked.
Your heart stuttered.
You glanced both ways. Empty.
You stepped forward—slowly, cautiously—reaching for the panel.
It chirped softly under your touch.
One press. That’s all it would take to slide the door open and—
“Hey.”
You jerked so fast your elbow banged the wall behind you.
An intern—probably no older than twenty-two—stood at the other end of the corridor, holding a datapad and a cup of coffee. Her brows knit together.
“You lost?”
Your mouth went dry. “I—uh—no. I was looking for… the sensory deprivation room.”
The girl blinked. “Sensory deprivation is two floors down.”
You forced a smile. “Right. I must’ve hit the wrong button in the elevator.”
She didn’t move. Just stood there, watching you.
A long pause stretched before she gave a tight, practiced smile and turned on her heel.
“Have a good one.”
You nodded, then retreated in the opposite direction at a normal, casual, totally-not-panicked pace. It wasn’t until you rounded the next corner and pressed your back to the wall that you let yourself breathe.
You almost got caught doing something horrendously stupid.
No—worse.
That light on Harding’s door hadn’t been green by mistake.
What if you were being tested?.
Tested.
And you failed.
Tumblr media
In Your Nightmares, In the Maze
You opened your eyes and the world was wrong.
The floor beneath your feet was cold concrete, cracked and damp, covered in grime that had soaked into its pores. The air reeked of mildew and rust, thick with dust that scratched the back of your throat. Made you feel sticky, dirty.
You didn’t know how long you’d been standing.
Only that you had no memory of getting here. And your feet ached.
The hallway stretched in both directions—long, narrow, and dimly lit by broken fluorescent tubes overhead. One of them buzzed in a stuttering rhythm, flickering so violently you couldn’t tell if it was about to go out or explode.
You turned in a slow circle, arms folded tightly across your chest.
The walls were tiled, but discolored. Yellowed, cracked, and tagged with smeared fingerprints like someone had clawed at them over and over again. Shattered mirrors were mounted in uneven rows, jagged corners jutting out like teeth.
You caught your reflection in one of them.
And froze.
It was you. But not exactly.
The reflection stood too still. Her arms weren’t crossed. Her head tilted slightly to the side, eyes wide and expressionless. She blinked—but too slow. Like a puppet learning how to mimic human movement. Then her lips moved.
You took a step back, heart hammering.
No sound.
Another mirror—this one lower, shattered into shards across the floor. The sharp edges caught the flickering light, reflecting your face in fractured pieces.
You crouched, trembling, reaching toward one of the shards.
It wasn’t curiosity. It was like you had to see, you had to know if this was real.
The moment your fingers touched it, you flinched.
A thin line of blood opened across your palm, bright and stinging.
“Ah—”
You dropped the glass with a suck of your teeth.
It clattered against the floor with a sound too loud, too final.
And from somewhere behind you—
A whisper.
You spun around, heart in your throat.
No one.
Nothing.
But the hall behind you looked... different.
You hadn’t turned around, but now there were more doors. More mirrors. And the mirror where your reflection had been was gone.
Your blood dripped onto the floor, each drop loud in the silence.
You stumbled backward, away from the glass, away from the mirrors, clutching your hand.
And that’s when you heard it.
Breathing.
Not yours.
Slow. Steady. Too close.
You ran.
Your footsteps echoed down the hall, too loud, too fast. The breathing behind you had stopped, but only because it was closer now. You could feel it. Like hot breath against your neck, even though nothing touched you.
You turned a corner—
and another
another
—until your shoulder hit a doorframe and you stumbled sideways into a room.
The door shut behind you on its own in a violent slam.
You whirled around, heart pounding, but the knob was gone. Hell, the door was gone. Replaced with cracked tiles and a bloodstained seam.
The light in the room was a single bulb hanging from a frayed cord in the ceiling. It swung gently, casting warped shadows against the walls.
But you weren’t alone.
There was someone else here, and this room felt horrifically familiar.
At first, you only saw her back; hunched over, gasping softly, her arms trembling at her sides. The room was small, just a few paces wide. The tile beneath her knees was slick, and something thick and dark glistened across the floor.
You took one step closer.
Her head lifted slightly. Then her arm.
And she slammed something down.
A wet, sickening crack echoed through the room.
You jolted back, mouth open, but the scream got stuck behind your tongue. Her hand lifted again.
Another, crack.
You couldn’t see who she was hurting. The body beneath her was just shadow. Faceless, formless, made of blood and bone and the sound of something breaking.
Crack, again.
Again and again.
You stared in horror until she finally slowed, breathing hard, hand shaking in the air.
And then she turned.
It was you again.
Your face—spattered in red, eyes empty, chest heaving.
Her gaze met yours across the room, tears streaming down her bloody, sunken face.
You screamed. The bulb burst above you, showering the floor in sparks and blackened glass.
The floor dropped out beneath you.
In one blink, you were standing. The next, you were falling.
There was no wind. No scream. Just the sickening weightless feeling of your own body surrendering.
You hit something hard, your bones crushing with pain as they protested against all movement.
The world bent around you—walls folding like wet paper, corners bleeding into one another. Your knees struck concrete. Your palm, still bleeding from the earlier cut, left a smear across the warped ground beneath you.
Your breath came ragged, your head spinning.
You crawled forward, but the walls spun in circles around you. Lights blurred into trails. The air stung your eyes.
“Where am I?” you whispered aloud.
No answer.
Only a low hum in the distance. Like the power grid of a dead city flickering back to life.
You tried to stand, but your legs gave out.
You reached for a wall that wasn’t there anymore.
The floor cracked open.
And you dropped once more.
Tumblr media
In the Nightmare, In the Maze
Your vision cleared all at once.
Flashing red and white lights pulsed in your peripheral.
Siren tones wailed in the distance, but muffled, like they were underwater. The air was cold now. It smelled of metal, antiseptic, and the copper tang of blood.
You were standing on the edge of an open ambulance bay. Night stretched beyond the parking lot like a black ocean, with figures moving just at the edge of the darkness. Too far to see, too distorted to name.
Inside the ambulance, the doors were open.
You stepped forward, and saw her.
Yourself.
Again.
This time she sat on the gurney, knees drawn to her chest, face streaked with blood. Though, none of it looked fresh. Her skin was pale and blotchy; eyes glassy and swollen. Her hands trembled around a disposable shock blanket, still clutched tightly around her shoulders like armor.
She wasn’t speaking. She just stared down at her lap, jaw tight, fingers twitching.
A paramedic stood off to the side, whispering to someone you couldn’t see.
“She wouldn’t stop screaming. Had to sedate her. We think it was self-defense… but the scene was brutal.”
Another murmured reply: unintelligible to you.
You took a step closer.
And then she glanced
Just barely—her gaze lifting enough to meet yours as her lips moved.
But no sound of a woman came out, but something akin to that of the void himself.
"Ever my ś̸̡t̸̨͛r̶̤͝o̴̻̓n̶͉̔ǵ̴̘ ̴͙͆g̴̭̈́ȉ̷̡r̴͕̿l̴͔̽."
The scene around you began to shake, like the ambulance bay itself was coming apart. The sirens slowed. Then stretched. Then distorted.
"Not everyone could, but ÿ̴̫́ò̸̤ǘ̴̮ ̶̳͑m̸̢̊a̸̧̿d̴̬̆e̶͈͆ ̶͎͊i̶̻̒t̴̤̑ ̵̰̂ò̷͙ů̶͜t̸͎̄. Didn’t you, little liar?"
You clutched your ears as the air seemed to pulse against your skull.
And the ambulance doors slammed shut in your face.
You blinked.
Open, Close, Open.
And the world changed again.
Gone were the lights, the pavement, the sirens.
Now there were trees. Towering silhouettes pressed in around you, black against a gray sky smeared with faint clouds. Their branches clawed overhead like bones, creaking faintly with every whisper of wind.
The ground beneath your feet was mud and moss and broken roots.
It was dark.
But not silent.
Snap.
A branch cracked behind you.
You spun around, chest rising sharply, but saw nothing. Just more trees. More endless darkness.
Your breath came faster now, eyes darting to every shadow, every movement of wind-tossed leaves. You took a step—
Crack.
Another behind you. Heavier this time.
Then—
Breathing. Fast and angry, barely contained.
You ran.
Your legs burned, your lungs screaming with every intake of cold air. Branches sliced across your arms. Something wet ran down your face; blood or rain, you didn’t know.
The breathing followed.
Always just behind you.
You didn’t dare scream. The sounds around you were too loud already. The woods echoed everything. Your heartbeat, the dead leaves crunching, and...
his voice.
"You've run faster than that."
You stumbled, but caught yourself. Feeling the bark of the tree imprint itself into the skin of your palm.
You couldn’t tell where it came from, but it was close.
So close that you pumped your legs faster, ignoring the pain of your bare feet hitting the forest floor.
Something grabbed your sleeve and snatched you backwards —no, just a branch.
You tugged roughly and broke free, but your breathing was slowing you down now. Your chest willing itself to explode as your lungs stretched for oxygen.
The trees grew tighter. Narrower. Like the forest itself was closing in to crush you. The breathing behind you accelerated.
It was laughing at you now. Not just with joy, but with certainty that it would catch you.
"They might have carved it out, but I remember. I always remember."
You saw a shape ahead—barely visible.
A black door. Standing hauntingly alone in the woods.
You didn’t think, only sprinted towards it. Heaving now, your lungs threatened to rise from the bottom of your throat. It pained you horribly, but nothing else mattered except escape.
Mud flew from your heels. Your vision blurred with tears.
"You were never meant to be happy, y/n."
Your hand hit the door handle, slipping on its sleek handle with the slick of blood that coated your palm.
"You're meant to be with me here."
You yanked it open—
And fell inside.
Tumblr media
In the Nightmare, Outside of the Maze
The door vanished behind you.
The ground was… nothing. A space with no walls, no ceiling, no shape. Just pressure and the oppressive weight of silence.
You were alone.
Until you weren’t.
He emerged from the dark without warning; no footsteps, no sound. It was just there, like he’d always been waiting.
The Void. A silhouette carved from everything the world wasn’t meant to touch. His skin absorbed the light instead of reflecting it, black as rotted stars. His hair curled weightlessly like smoke.
Your legs gave out and you collapsed forward into his body, wrapping your arms around his legs in terror. The coldness of his body comforting to the exhausted heat being expelled from your own.
And then he was lowering himself to meet you on the ground. Arms slowly coiling around your back.
He held you like you were fragile, digging his fingertips into the sides of your waist as he held you upright.
You cried harder.
Not just from fear, not just from exhaustion, but from the horrible, gut-wrenching feeling that this was the first time you felt like yourself in so long. Broken, hurting, and miserable, such a familiar feeling to you.
"There she is," he whispered into your hair. His hand moved to cradle the back of your head, fingers impossibly gentle. He pressed your body to his like he could bury you in his chest.
His breath brushed your ear. Your throat. Your skin.
"It's no wonder you always come back to me, and every time, we end up here."
You tried to speak, but your voice was shattered glass in your throat.
He lifted your chin with a single finger. His gold eyes burned straight through you. "No need to speak, just think. Know that I remember, no matter what they take from you, I will always remember.”
You shook your head, but he only smiled. A reverent, broken thing.
"Let me keep you. Just like this. Broken, bleeding, and mine."
His lips ghosted over your forehead, slow and steady, like a temptation. "You don't have to run from it anymore."
And then—
Tumblr media
You gasped awake.
The scream didn't make it out properly—lodged deep in your chest like a stone, but your body snapped upright. Drenched in sweat, your sheets tangled like restraints around your legs.
Your throat burned. A heartbeat galloped in your ears, loud enough to drown everything else.
Your eyes darted across the room, searching corners, shadows, the cracks beneath the door, expecting to see blackness leaking from the walls, gold eyes waiting in front of you
But instead:
He was sitting there.
Bob.
Near the edge of your room. In the dark. His form barely outlined in the weak glow from the hall’s emergency light.
Not moving, and certainly not speaking. Just watching.
Your breath hitched.
"Jesus—” You scrambled backward on the bed until your shoulders hit the headboard. “What the hell, how did you get in here?”
He didn’t rise or even answer at first. Just studied you, head tilted, brow furrowed. Quiet concern etched into every line of his face.
"I heard you," he said finally. Voice low and careful. "Screaming through the door, but... you were asleep."
You stared at him, heart still slamming in your chest.
You couldn’t even remember doing it. Only the maze. The blood. The gold eyes that felt too close to forget.
"I didn't want to scare you," Bob said softly. "I just didn't want you to wake up alone. It looked terrifying."
That cracked something inside you.
Because it meant he hadn't come here with any ulterior motive but to just make sure you weren't alone, having night terrors in the dark.
You wiped at your sweaty face, breath still uneven.
"I don't even know when I fell asleep," you murmured.
Bob’s voice was impossibly gentler now. “Do you want to talk about it?”
You shook your head, but after a moment you spoke anyway, "I was in a maze," you whispered. "And something was chasing me. I think."
Bob exhaled, slowly, "Do you remember who was chasing you?"
You looked up. "No, I don't, I never looked back."
"That's good," he hesitated, "did it feel like a dream or a memory?"
"Both."
The room fell quiet again. You noticed then that his hands were clasped in his lap. Knuckles white. Like either he wasn’t sure if he should come closer, or he was terrified of your response.
"They're not just dreams anymore," he said. "Are they?"
Your hands trembled in your lap, and you fought to answer him honestly. "No."
Bob stood slowly, careful not to make a sound too sharp or sudden. He looked like he was trying to give you space, even as his eyes lingered on the sight of you trembling in your bed. "I'll let you rest," he said carefully. "I shouldn't have come in. I just wanted to be sure you were okay."
He turned toward the door, but for some reason, your panic spiked.
"Wait—" You reached out and caught his wrist, hand tremoring. He stopped to listen, and your voice was barely more than a breath, "Can you stay... please?"
He turned back toward you slowly. “You sure?”
You nodded, pulling on his arm, just enough to guide him back. "Please," you whispered again, tugging him towards your bed.
He hesitated only a moment longer. Then sat on the edge of the bed, uncertain.
You didn’t wait.
You shifted beneath the covers and pulled him with you, tugging gently at his wrist until he followed. His weight dipped the mattress, and then he was lying beside you. He was awkward at first, stiff from uncertainty.
You curled toward him, face pressed to his chest.
And only then did he move.
His arms came around you, gentle and hesitant, like you were made of glass. One hand stroked your back; the other came up slowly to comb through your hair.
The moment his fingers threaded through the strands, something deep inside you twisted.
It was… familiar.
Your heart stuttered, but you didn’t pull away.
"You're okay," Bob murmured into your hair. "You're still safe here."
Your eyes burned. "I don't feel safe," you confessed. "I don't even feel like myself anymore, I don't know what I'm supposed to feel. I can't understand any of these emotions inside me."
His fingers brushed behind your ear. "Like a phantom emotion?" he asked, voice low but firm.
You pressed your face tighter against his chest, trying to keep your breath steady. But you couldn’t. The tears came quietly at first, then stronger. "I'm scared to fall asleep," you whispered.
Bob didn’t flinch. He just held you tighter, one hand never leaving your hair. "Then be scared," he said softly. "Feel everything. Cry if you need to, but don't ever think you have to do any of it alone."
You cried harder. You didn’t know if it was the nightmare, the silence, or the way his voice made the grief inside you finally feel seen.
But for the first time in what felt like so long, you let it out. And he didn’t let go.
His thumb brushed soft circles across your shoulder as your tears soaked through his shirt. His heart beat slow and steady beneath your ear. "You're not alone," he whispered, "I promise."
You weren’t sure when you stopped crying. Only that at some point, the world grew still again, and you stayed there, curled against him. And yet, it felt as though this had happened before, as if you were experiencing deja-vu for this very moment and couldn't fathom any reason for it.
His breath moved softly against the top of your head.
And sleep, when it finally came, did not take you kicking and screaming.
It came wrapped in warmth and wool.

Building Bridges
Part 2 of Suppressed Bond
Ridoc Gamlyn x Marked!Reader
Tumblr media
“You are still mopping over your princess, pay attention,” Aotrom chastised inside Ridoc’s head as he once again lost focus in class, daydreaming about you.
“Since when do you care?” Ridoc fired back, “besides, she’s not a princess.”
You weren’t. The daughter of a former Tyrrish lord, yes. Not a princess, but close enough in title that he liked to call you that. Liked to imagine you if you weren’t forced into the harsh hell that was this godsforsaken military academy. Liked to imagine the life you could have lived if not for the fate of your family.
“Demoting her doesn’t seem like a good first step in mating her.” Ridoc felt Aotrom’s laughter in his chest more than he telepathically heard it.
“Would you piss off?” Ridoc thought, scribbling notes in frustration.
“If you want any chance of getting near her in the sense you mean-“
“-She’s more than just a quick-“
“I am viscerally aware of all the things you feel for her, both romantic and otherwise. If you want to win her esteem and attention, you’ll have to get through her father of a dragon, first.” Ridoc imagined Aotrom preening at the next part. “For that, you will need my help. So no, I will not piss off.”
“Had to make it about you, didn’t ya?”
“Do you want my assistance or not, Gamlyn? Or are you content for Andell to scorch you on sight?”
“Cadet Gamlyn!” Professor Devera called over Battle Brief, “If I could have your attention, please? It would be greatly appreciated.”
“Sorry.” Then, to Aotrom, “Look what you did!”
“What I did? I am nowhere near. I remain an innocent bystander.”
“Innocent my ass,” Ridoc grumbled under his breath.
“Psst,” you whispered from your seat beside him, bumping him with your elbow, “what’s going on?”
Ridoc mimed the beating of leathery wings with his hands, pointed at his head, then made the yapping signal, eliciting a giggle from you.
Ridoc would swear in that moment, that sound, changed the shape of his eyes to hearts. He prided himself on making those around him laugh, part of his charm, he’d always said. But your laughter? The sound of your amusement? The fact that he could pull that sound from you after all you had suffered throughout your short life?
It was the sweetest sound he’d ever heard.
And he’d do whatever he could to hear it again.
“Oh brother,” Aotrom complained inside his head, “this is going to be a long handful of days.”
Tumblr media
Had Violet not been up to whatever weird and secretive shit she’d been dealing with from a day to day basis, she would likely have had something smart to say about him pouring over a book.
Colonel Kaori’s Guide to Dragonkind, to be specific.
“How do you get another dragon to like you?” Ridoc thought aloud, absently.
“If you want advice, you can ask me.”
“And,” Ridoc spoke to his dragon aloud, a fun little habit he’d unwittingly picked up from you, “you have made it clear you don’t have any interest in being helpful.”
“You are serious about this, aren’t you?”
“Yes!” Ridoc exclaimed, tossing his hands up in the air.
“…Tell me about her,” Aotrom said.
“Seriously?”
A grumble of draconic impatience in his head.
“Well, she’s beautiful-“
“-By human standards, sure.”
“Ass.”
Aotrom said nothing, but there was a feeling through their bond that had Ridoc imagining the dragon sticking his tongue out.
“She’s smart, brilliant even. Violet doesn’t talk about it in any detail, but she was apparently indispensable during that battle in Resson-“
“Her having seen combat so early, with that relic on her arm, is likely not going to help Andell’s protectiveness…” Aotrom mused, sounding as if he really was thinking through the problem.
“I just want… I just want her to be happy. To see her smile. Make her laugh. She isn’t just another girl to me, you know. She’s… I… I’m in love with her.” Ridoc could hardly breathe, having finally voiced the inkling of a thought that had hung in his head for weeks.
Ridoc heard Aotrom hum in his head. “Wait,” he said, “you actually are going to help me?”
“As much as I enjoy getting my amusement at your expense, Gamlyn, I enjoy working with you, rather than against you. I also… happen to find this cause a worthy one. Of course I’ll help you.”
“Hey, uh, thanks,” Ridoc said.
“Keep the sappiness out of it.”
“Sure thing,” Ridoc laughed, “Sure thing.” He felt ghosts of dragon laughter, but let it go. “Alright, dragon expert, pun intended by the way, where do we start?”
Tumblr media
“Are you alright?” Andell’s soft voice filled your head with his usual check in after most of your year filed out of the flight field. You did not have anything to compare it to, but something in you felt Andell’s voice was uncommon among his kind.
Someone had ambushed you leaving breakfast this morning. You had a bruise on your cheek Andell had already seen and fussed over, demanding to know if any rider was responsible so he could take it up with their dragon. You’d told him truthfully that it was one of those infantry thugs Colonel Aetos had been sending and he’d been summarily dealt with.
“Besides all the threats upon my life? Great!”
Andell snarled, his front claws churning the dirt beneath him.
“Not the time for jokes about that, noted.” You switched into mental communication for the next part. “How’ve you been doing? I know you know what I mean,” you thought, kindly but firmly.
A mental sigh reached you as Andell lowered his head as you approached. “This is a decent day. You?”
“I’ve had better ones in this regard. Two days ago would have been a family birthday.”
Andell’s head reached the right height as you held your hands out to either side of his face. Carefully, you held your foreheads together and just breathed. Your go-to way to comfort each other.
You smiled at him as you sat down at his feet, resting your back against his leg. You could feel Andell sigh contentedly as he curled his front around you. The two of you alone in the field, resting your weary souls together.
You were not alone in the field for long. Andell sensed it just slightly before you. He shifted his leg, protecting you between his claws as he raised his head slightly in the direction of crunching dirt.
“Hey!” A familiar male voice called, “funny catching you guys out here!”
Andell’s growl rumbled in his throat, but you placed a hand on his leg.
“Play nice,” you said, “it’s just Ridoc and Aotrom.”
Andell’s attitude did not change.
“Relax, Ridoc’s a… friend. You can trust him,” you whispered, shifting fully into telepathic communication for the next part, “I know you’re jumpy after everything but my friends aren’t part of the whole Post-Resson shit.”
“Not what I’m worried about…” Andell grumbled, his gaze flicking between Ridoc and Aotrom. “And watch your language.”
“Very funny,” you said sarcastically, earning a chuff from Andell.
“Ridoc,” you addressed, moving beyond Andell’s protection a fraction. Enough that Ridoc could reach you without getting his head bitten off, but not enough for Andell’s anxiety to spike. “What brings you by?”
“Well,” Ridoc drawled, crossing his arms behind his head as he flashed his boyish smile, “you two always seem to have fun sitting out here. I’ve had a lot on my mind, I thought it might be nice to sit out here too! Take the edge off.”
“A lot on your mind,” you said, amused, “that can’t be good. Like what?”
“Like,” Ridoc began, but then his eyes finally lit on your cheek, at the fresh purple bruise there. “Like who the hell did that to you.”
“Challenge accident, my fault” you said, easily, the go-to lie.
“Respectfully, Princess,” Ridoc said, a bit of outrage mixing with his voice, “that’s horseshit.”
“Ridoc?”
“I was at challenges with you, I watched all your fights. No one hit you there. You never let them.”
Shit. That’s right.
The dragons were silent as they watched you both, Andell taking an ever so slight step forward. He didn’t care if Aotrom was right there, if Ridoc proved to be a threat to your safety, to the fragile happiness his beloved human had to chisel out of this place with a pickaxe, he’d tear the boy to shreds.
Instead, Andell was surprised when he heard Ridoc snarl, “who did this to you?”
“Ridoc, it’s fine,” you said, “I’m putting a salve on it and it’s healing just fine. I don’t need you to-“
“Who did it?” Ridoc asked again and you fell silent. You’d never seen Ridoc this angry. Both dragons were shocked too, their heads pulled back, eyes wide.
Sensing your unwillingness to answer, Ridoc continued his tirade. “Is it some bullshit about your family? Of all the shitty things to do. I’ve seen the other marked ones beat up as well. This is about that isn’t it? You guys are being targeted.”
“Ridoc-“
Ridoc was lost in the other world that was his outrage. He was furious at the injustice of it all and said as much, “Why the fuck isn’t leadership doing anything!? You guys are already forced to be here! What more blood do they want!”
“Ridoc!” You finally shouted and he stopped, wide eyes gaping at you.
You crossed closer to him, mildly surprised that Andell did not voice any trepidation at your movement.
You placed a hand on Ridoc’s shoulder and said, “while I find your outrage on my behalf sweet, I can fight my own battles. The cadet who did this won’t be doing it again. Tyrrish kids are made of sterner stuff than most. I’ll be fine.”
“That doesn’t mean I’m going to like seeing you hurt,” Ridoc said, almost a whisper.
“Then let’s do this, hmm? We can take care of and look out for each other, stepping in when asked or absolutely necessary. That way neither of us lose our cool or pull a Dain, sound fair?”
“Yeah,” Ridoc said, “look there’s been something else I’ve wanted to tell-“
Ridoc stiffened as Aotrom spoke to him in his head, his eyes taking on that same glazed quality whenever their dragon spoke to them. Present in the moment but listening to something only for them. Once the sharpness returned to Ridoc’s eyes, he glanced fearfully up at Andell.
Your dragon stared down his snout again, blowing a stream of steam out over him. No one moved until the smoke dissipated. Ridoc’s eyes remained on Andell as the dragon stared at him again for a long moment, expecting him to run. Ridoc stayed right where he was, softly holding your hands.
Andell’s head bobbed slightly once in a way you couldn’t even figure out the meaning of.
The moment came and went as you turned back to Ridoc, “what was it you wanted to tell me?”
“Uhh…” Ridoc gulped.
The shout of your last name and Ridoc’s over the flight field suggested that the two of you had been missing for too long. Andell leveled his head in the direction of Dain’s voice and growled, loudly.
“No, no, we should go,” you said, not in the mood to pick another fight, verbal or otherwise. “I’ll see you later big guy,” you told your dragon who you could almost swear pouted before surging off into the air, Aotrom soaring quickly behind looking for all the world to be nagging your older dragon.
“Come on,” you said to Ridoc, mentally preparing for the rule laden speech you’d receive from your Wingleader.
Ridoc tried to come up with something to say, some joke to make, but for once he was at a loss for words.
Maybe appeasing your dragon was the easy part.

exile
word count: 1.5k
summary: you can't come to bring up the challenges you've been fighting to your girlfriend, causing you to exile everything and everyone with it.
a/n: hi:)

Tumblr media
The walls around you were too small, you weren’t claustrophobic. But being yelled at definitely made you feel like you were trapped; trapped in a tight space and a body that couldn’t do anything but lie there.
It had to be one of the worst feelings, stress never sat well with anything. Besides a gun to shoot at.
Your week was amazing. Amazing. Emphasis on that. You started off with begrudgingly buy all the supplies for your group for a class project because all of the unfamiliar faces that you sat with were never good with grades to begin with. They made you do all the work anyways. Then, small, stupid things, like falling face flat on the floor after tripping on a shoe. Then the small comments from your parents about the mental flaws you had, then the physical ones that you later saw in the mirror.
Then your girlfriend’s small comments, ones that you wouldn't have second thoughts about unless you had an amazing week.
Jenna was one of the sweetest and most understanding people you’ve ever talked to. Except, when she said things she doesn’t think twice about, it hurt more than it should’ve stung. Maybe you were sensitive? Or maybe it just hurt more hearing it out of her mouth, but one thing was for sure, it nicked a piece of you every time, and you’d let it hurt.
As an actress, you knew what would happen whenever you and Jenna were together, unexpected goodbye’s when called for work, late night arrivals to the point where you’d already had been asleep, it didn’t mean it hurt any less. Especially since your love language was quality time.
And god you missed it on nights where you curled into a cold bed.
The other night a few weeks ago, you had been brave enough to talk to Jenna about it at midnight. Maybe she should take less projects, it was draining for her to overwork herself.
You didn’t want to admit that it drained you more and more, she wouldn’t have noticed for the amount of time she was gone.
She had responded with, “Sorry, you know I can’t control my schedule.”
Sometimes it hurt that you didn’t come forward with how her filming ends earlier, but she goes out to houses, restaurants, places that aren’t what you would’ve wanted, not your home.
The day of, you got yelled at by your mother. You don’t tell Jenna about it. You usually don’t when it came to things like this. You should fix being entitled, selfish, or too much on others, you weren’t really like that, were you?
At night you try not to think about if Jenna has ever thought of you that way. A small voice whispers to you on nights you couldn’t sleep, that if Jenna cared about you enough, she would cancel projects for you.
You brush off topics when she asks you about your day, though it became clear it was affecting you. The stress had caused you to eat less, cram yourself in studies, short circuiting your brain enough to stop thinking about it.
Your mother was right, you were too clingy. You’d never learn to know how to set boundaries, how to know if you were too annoying or insistent. “Maybe that’s why Jenna has taken up so many projects, to avoid telling you that you were to insistent on everything.”
By the time you were in your bed, you didn’t realize you were crying, bawling about every stupid thing that has happened to you in the past week, slamming your phone across the room as you hide under the covers of your bed.
Fuck avoiding feelings, fuck everything–you were upset.
Jenna had texted you for that time being, when she left work, a quick text. She’d expected a quick response back, that you missed her, wanted her home.
Nothing.
“Huh,” she murmured, slipping it into the pocket of her jeans as she slipped into the drivers seat of her car. Maybe homework.
An hour after there was not a single bubble, not like she kept the conversation the whole entire ride home, or a text.
She let out a breath, a little frustrated and kind of worried. Work had been a pain for her, she shouldn’t have taken so many roles. Jenna just couldn’t turn down so many of them, she didn’t think she ever wanted to be so many characters at once.
From the time she got home, your hair was tousled, the fan was on–loud enough to cover your hiccups and dark enough to blend the mascara stains under your eyes.
Jenna fumbled with the keys, propping her foot to move the door open. It was silent, she had to flip on a switch for the hallway, you usually had a lamp on, but it was off.
“Baby?” she whispered, kicking her shoes off. You might’ve been asleep. “I’m home, where are you?”
The fan whirred and slightly swayed items back and forth in your room as she peeked inside. Her hands immediately found your room’s light switch once she heard hitching breaths. The lamp illuminated the room and your worn out sobbing figure.
Jenna didn’t know what to do first, panic at your tears, or ask what was wrong.
She hurried to you and slipped into the covers next to you, announcing her presence as your body slowly turns to her, you don’t crawl into her arms like you usually do. Instead you try looking at her, but instead look at anything but her.
Your mouth was quivering, you didn’t know what to say, but you started with, “I miss you being home.”
“Y/N-”
“I tried to not let it bother me as much, but I don’t think..”
You could feel Jenna’s curls against your cheek as her fingers tilted you to look up at her. “Is this what you were upset about? Me not being home as much?” She asked, her eyes watching you. Something unwelcome twisted in her stomach to know that she was doing this.
“I’ve just been so stressed,” you hiccup, you didn’t want to make things worse then they already were, it was multiple things. Just some of them weighed much more than the others.
“Oh baby, I’m so sorry.” Jenna murmured, thumbs pressing against your cheeks as the mascara rubs off of them. “I didn’t know I hurt you by doing that. I’ve been neglecting you.”
You force your hands to stay glued to your sides, your girlfriend giving you a worried look as she tried to hug you, “Baby.”
“Is that why you’ve been taking more roles, so you don’t have to see me as much anymore because I’ve been too insistent for you-”
“Y/N,” Jenna shakes you, hands cupping your cheeks. “Insistent? I don’t see you like that. I like when you’re clingy. Baby, is that why you’ve been so quiet lately and didn’t respond to my messages?” She slightly turns to see your phone on the floor and then scoots closer to you. “Baby, I haven’t been taking new opportunities because I’m avoiding you. I’d never avoid you. I’ve just been trying to explore so many different roles, I didn’t think of how it would affect you, and I’m sorry.”
You swallow, “I was just-”
You glance at her, then back down. “Worried. I’m sorry for overthinking it”
The room was still, the fan still whirring gently as Jenna nudges you to look at her. “Y/N. Baby. Your feelings are valid. They matter to me as much as you do and I want you to tell me about these things. I can’t bear to handle what would’ve happened if you deal with it on your own.”
You feel yourself start to cry again. She pulls you closer, and you let her, babbling on what was happening and how much it hurt you.
Jenna hugs you, letting you sniffle–possibly get her sweatshirt filled with tears, and mutter incoherent words against her.
You missed being close to her on nights like this, maybe not the situation you wanted, but being curled up against her with her threading her fingers through your hair made you forget how much you yearned and waited for it. “How about first thing right after we talk I’ll move my schedule around and cancel most of my productions I was planned on being casted in, okay? I need to take care of you and the busy schedule is bad for the both of us.”
“I’m going to get a lot of curious looks tomorrow.” You sniffle, “My eyes are going to be all puffy.”
Jenna shakes her head, kissing the side of your mouth. “Well, you won’t go to school tomorrow. We’re going to take a mental health day and we’ll spend the day in bed with ice cream. Okay?”
A ugly hiccup comes from your mouth as you slightly giggle, rubbing your eyes. “Okay.”
She feels you nod against her chest and squeezes you tighter. “I love you. And I’m sorry for neglecting you.”
You let her kiss the top of your forehead, “I love you, too.”

Hiraeth
(n.) A home that never was. Yearning for someone who was once yours.
pairing: oscar piastri x reader
summary: you miss him, but do you even have the right to.
wc: 917
warning(s): angst, female reader, swearing
Tumblr media
Oscar Piastri has always been an enigma to all and a paradox to most. But to her? She knows him like the back of her mind—heck, maybe even beyond that.
She knows his family, his friends, his hobbies, and even down to his mannerisms. She knows how to calm his nerves, how he acts when he’s nervous, and when he’s holding his temper. She knows him so well, but that’s not relevant now, is it? Now that he’s supposed to be a stranger.
A stranger whose laugh she could recognize even from a mile away. A stranger whose voice she could decipher even when her surroundings were in chaos. And lastly, a stranger whom she knows so much about, she doesn’t know how to start forgetting all those things.
It was supposed to be him and her, together. But we all know faith is cruel. Because if it was supposed to be them until the end, then why is he now miles away from her grasp? Someone so close yet so far away now.
“Oscar, let's stop this. You and I know that we aren’t going to work out in the end.” Those words she never thought would come out of her own mouth shot out of her like a grenade waiting to explode.
She never thought there might come a day when she’d hurt him. But she did, and at that time, it was the right thing.
“What do you mean, not working out? We were just happy yesterday. We were happy up until now, weren’t we?” The crack in his voice almost made her cry and tell him the truth, but she shouldn’t. Because it’s for the best, it’s for him as well.
“Oscar, you are going to be a formula 1 driver, I am a college student, don’t you see the difference? You have your dreams close to your grasp. I, on the other hand would only drag you down. I still have many years ahead before I reach my dreams and yours is just around the corner. I would just be a distraction, Osc.” She tried to reason, but is there really a right logic when it comes to love?
There isn’t.
She knows there isn't. But trying is better than admitting the truth.
“But I could manage, I always do. You won’t be a distraction, you’ve always been a motivation to me.”
“But that won’t be for long. We both know what you want and what I want in life. We have different priorities and choices, Oscar. In the long run, you would hate me, and we would fight. What's the point in delaying the inevitable?" How she hated herself as soon as those words came out of her. Because it sounded so true, but to her? It was far from the truth.
"Cut the crap, yn. Stop saying that. Stop deciding for this relationship yourself. I would never hate you, and we would never drift apart because of our careers. Will you let this gap break us apart? Should I lose you just so I can fulfill my dreams?" He said to her, voice breaking with each word. Tears streaming, and desperation seeping through him.
Oh, how cruel faith is.
"And if I let it, what would you do, Osc? I am willing to lose you for my career. Willing to let us go for what the future holds."
"You are so cruel, do you know that? You promised me that you'd be there for my first race, my first win, and through it all. Are you just throwing that out the window now? Are those just empty words? Am I not worth risking for? Does our relationship mean nothing to you at all?"
At that moment, she almost broke down behind her facade. But she didn't, she shouldn't. It's for the better. It's for his future, even if it means hurting his present. It will all work out in the end, even if it's only for him. She wanted to let him know that he's worth fighting for, he's worth the pain—that he's worth losing it all for. He's worth more than anything she has or will ever have. And it's eating her alive, knowing she's the cause of him doubting if what they had was ever genuine. Because it was all genuine, it was pure and an undying love and connection. She loves him too much to lose him, so she made him hate her.
It's better this way. It is for the better.
And she did what she's best at, walking away. Leaving him to suffer in all that pain and hurt. The gnawing doubt was waiting to eat him, because at that time, it was for the better.
He never knew this, but she came to his first race, first win, she came in secret after every crash, every podium, and every pole position he got. She never missed out on every important thing that happened in his life, yet he never knew that. Because to him, it's just empty promises now. And it's still for the better. She thought.
But how long will better last when he actually saw her, in every race she went to, in the visits made in secret after every crash, and in the crowd after he won. He knew all along, yet before he could even reach her, she disappeared. Like a ghost that lingers, as if she's just an illusion in his mind. Haunting him in every promise she made.

I Love You, I’m Sorry (Eddie Diaz) 𓍯 ִ⋆.˚ 💋ྀིྀི ⋆
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Eddie, loving someone doesn’t mean they’re going to leave you. You’ve lived like the next loss is always around the corner, but she wasn’t trying to go anywhere. You pushed her out.” . ݁₊ 🩸⊹ . ݁💉˖ . ݁
Synopsis: You and Eddie have always shared something deeper than friendship — an unspoken connection that lingers in every glance, every laugh, every brush of a hand. But when Eddie realizes just how much power you hold over his heart, fear sets in. He pulls away, leaving you confused and heartbroken. When you confront him, he denies everything, leaving you shattered. As time passes, it becomes clear to everyone around you that you’re both falling apart without each other. Eventually, it takes a push — maybe from Buck — for Eddie to finally confront the truth he’s been running from: he’s always loved you, and he may have already lost his chance.
Genre: Romance, Angst, Slowburn, Mutual Pining, Fluff
AU: None
Pairing: Eddie Diaz x Afab!Reader
Warnings: Eddie’s an asshole but he didn’t mean to bc he runs away from his problems (😭)
Note: This was a request from my inbox (in my ask box tag) and I thought the plot was super interesting since it falls right into the genre of fics that I produce. Thank you to the anon who gave me a whole run down on the story! Happy reading and as always, every like + reblog and comment is highly appreciated.
Tumblr media
There’s always been something quietly comfortable about being around Eddie.
You’re not sure when it started — the ease, the intimacy, the way your lives naturally bled into each other — but at some point, it became second nature.
His house was your second home. Christopher knew your coffee order and your favorite snacks. You knew which cabinet Eddie kept his aspirin in and which way the bathroom door creaked if you didn’t close it properly.
He never had to ask you to stay longer when you were over; your presence was a given.
You brought takeout on your nights off and folded his laundry when he forgot it in the dryer. He poured you a glass of wine after long shifts and let you steal his hoodie when it was late and you didn’t feel like going home.
There were no declarations. No spoken rules. Just the quiet way he always looked for you in a room, how he made sure to pour your coffee just the way you liked it — two sugars, no cream — or how his shoulder would graze yours when you walked side by side, like it couldn’t help but lean in your direction.
It wasn’t romantic. Not officially.
But God, if it didn’t feel like the most real thing in your life.
Sometimes he’d sit beside you on the couch, a little too close, and your thighs would touch for minutes on end. Neither of you moved.
You’d both pretend not to notice, but the air between you shifted. Grew warm. Familiar. Intimate. He’d chuckle at something on TV, and you’d smile because his laughter was your favorite kind of peace.
And the glances… those glances stayed too long to be casual. Like when you’d say something in passing and he’d stare at you as if he was memorizing your words — as if they mattered more than you knew.
His gaze would dip to your lips sometimes when you weren’t speaking, and you tried to tell yourself you imagined it, but deep down, you knew better.
Everyone else saw it too.
“Okay, seriously,” Buck said one night after a shift, arms crossed and eyebrows raised. “Are you two ever going to admit you’re in love or are we all just going to die waiting?”
You rolled your eyes and laughed it off. So did Eddie.
“We’re just friends,” you both said in near-perfect unison, which only made Hen groan.
“Uh-huh. Friends,” Chimney muttered, sipping his coffee like he was watching a slow-burn rom-com unfold in real time.
“Friends who look at each other like they’re planning to die in each other’s arms.”
It was embarrassing — the way the team teased — but it was also validating in a weird, terrifying kind of way. Because you’d started to feel it too.
The shift.
The tiny changes.
It happened quietly. The way he started opening up more. How his voice softened when he talked to you, how his eyes searched yours when he wasn’t sure of himself.
The way you reached for him automatically during calls, always scanning the wreckage for each other before anything else. And maybe the moment that hit you hardest: when you caught yourself thinking about him as home. Not just his house or his presence, but Eddie.
He was home.
And that terrified you.
Because if it was real — if this thing between you was more than friendship — it meant you had everything to lose.
Still, the idea nestled in your chest and refused to leave. You thought about what it would feel like to kiss him. To wake up in his arms. To be loved by him fully and openly.
You thought about Christopher, about Sunday mornings and slow coffee and a life that maybe, just maybe, could be yours too.
But nothing was ever said.
Not out loud.
Because maybe he didn’t feel the same. Or maybe he did, and was just too afraid to say it. Either way, you weren’t sure who’d be brave enough to say it first.
But something was building between you.
You could feel it every time he looked at you like you were the center of his universe. Like he was one breath away from telling you everything.
And honestly? You were starting to wish he would.
Tumblr media
It starts small.
A missed call here. A shorter reply there.
You don’t think anything of it at first. People get busy. Shifts get hectic. Life happens. You give him grace — because that’s what you do for people you love.
But then it starts to happen more.
He stops texting back as quickly. Your usual post-shift dinners turn into silence. The calls you used to get at 11PM — just to hear your voice before bed — go unanswered. He still smiles when he sees you at the station, still asks if you’re okay after a tough call, but it’s like he’s flicking a switch now.
Friendly. Polite. Detached.
And it hurts. It hurts like hell.
You try not to show it. You tell yourself maybe he’s going through something, that he’ll talk to you when he’s ready. Because this is Eddie — he doesn’t always know how to open the door when he’s hurting.
You’ve seen him do this before with others. But never with you.
Not like this.
One night, you knock on his door with your usual coffee order, the kind gesture that used to earn you a soft smile and a “You didn’t have to, but I’m glad you did.”
This time, when he opens the door, he looks surprised. Like he wasn’t expecting you. Like he doesn’t know how to be around you anymore.
“Oh,” he says, eyes darting behind him. “Hey.”
“Hey,” you reply, holding out the drink like some kind of peace offering. “Thought you could use this.”
He hesitates, then takes it from you. “Thanks.”
You stand there for a moment. Waiting. Hoping he’ll invite you in like always. But he doesn’t move.
“Is everything okay?” you ask softly. “You’ve been… different.”
“I’ve just been tired,” he says quickly. Too quickly.
“A lot on my mind.”
You nod slowly, trying not to let the sting show. “Okay. Well… I’m here if you want to talk.”
He nods once, almost absently. “I know.”
But he doesn’t invite you in.
And that night, for the first time in months, you don’t fall asleep knowing how his day went. You don’t feel like his person anymore.
At the station, it becomes harder to ignore.
He avoids lingering too long. Doesn’t sit beside you at the kitchen table anymore. Talks to Buck and Chimney and Hen like nothing’s wrong — and maybe to them, there isn’t — but you feel the distance like a cold draft under the door.
It becomes unbearable.
And one day, when you catch him alone in the locker room, you finally say what’s been aching in your chest.
“Why are you pushing me away?”
Eddie freezes, halfway into zipping up his jacket. “I’m not.”
“Yes, you are.” Your voice cracks. “You don’t answer my calls, you barely look at me when I talk to you, and I feel like I lost my best friend without even knowing what I did wrong.”
He swallows hard. “You didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Then what is it?” you demand. “Did I cross a line? Did I make you uncomfortable? Because I swear, if it’s something I said or did, I’ll—”
“It’s not you,” he interrupts, voice low, eyes finally meeting yours. “It’s me.”
You let out a shaky breath, because how cliché. “That’s not an answer, Eddie.”
He hesitates. Looks down at the floor like it might help him find the words.
“I care about you too much,” he says finally, voice barely above a whisper.
Your heart stutters. “And that’s… a bad thing?”
“It is when I don’t know what to do with it.” His eyes flash with something unspoken — pain, maybe, or guilt.
“You don’t understand what it’s like. To have someone mean so much, to love someone so much, that you start to lose your grip on everything else. That terrifies me.”
Your breath catches.
“Eddie…”
“I’ve already lost too much,” he says. “Shannon. The idea of loving someone again—loving you—and losing it? I don’t know if I could survive that.”
You step closer, heart hammering in your chest.
“You don’t have to be afraid of your feelings. I feel it too. We’re not just friends and you know it.”
His jaw tightens. “It’s all in your head.”
The words hit like a slap. You actually flinch.
“No,” you whisper, eyes burning. “Don’t do that. Don’t pretend it wasn’t real.”
“I’m not pretending. I’m telling you the truth.”
You stare at him for a long moment, waiting for him to break. To take it back. To tell you he’s lying.
But he doesn’t.
So you nod, jaw trembling, and back away.
“Okay,” you say softly. “If that’s how you really feel.”
And you walk out of the room, out of the station, out of whatever almost was between you — your heart shattering silently inside your chest.
He doesn’t follow you.
Yet, a part of him wants to.
You don’t slam the door. You don’t raise your voice. You just leave.
Quietly. With the kind of heartbreak that doesn’t need sound to be loud.
And Eddie stands there in the locker room, frozen in the hollow silence you leave behind.
Fuck, he wants to go after you. Every part of him screams to. His legs twitch like they might move on their own. His chest is tight with everything he didn’t say.
But he doesn’t.
Because if he does, he won’t be able to lie anymore.
And the truth?
The truth is you mean too much.
You got under his skin in ways no one else ever has. Not Shannon. Not Ana. Not Marisol. Not anyone.
You’re woven into the little things:
How his day feels lighter when you smile at him across the firehouse kitchen. How he sleeps better after hearing your voice. How he’s memorized the way you take your coffee, and how his hands gravitate toward you even when he’s not thinking.
How you looked at him like he was safe.
And now? Now it’s too much.
Because the last time he let someone that far in, he lost her. And the fallout nearly destroyed him — nearly destroyed Christopher.
He can’t afford that again. Not for himself. Not for his son.
Not even for you.
But God, he wants to.
He wants to tell you that he lied. That it’s not all in your head. That every night he spent distancing himself from you, he stared at his ceiling wishing he had the courage to love you out loud. That he hears your laugh when you’re not even in the room. That it’s you. It’s always been you.
But the fear is louder.
The fear says: What if it all falls apart?
What if you get tired of him? What if he’s not enough?
What if Christopher gets attached and you walk away too?
Eddie Diaz has survived fire, gunfire, and grief.
But loving you — losing you — that’s a battle he doesn’t think he’d survive.
So he lets you go.
At least for now.
At least until the ache of not having you outweighs the terror of loving you.
And as he finally slumps down on the bench, head in his hands, Eddie whispers to himself the truth he couldn’t say to your face:
“I love you.”
Tumblr media
You’re still there.
You show up to shifts. You answer your calls. You laugh at Chim’s dumb jokes, take your turn cooking in the firehouse kitchen, and go on like nothing’s shattered.
But it has shattered.
And everyone can feel it.
Especially him.
Eddie doesn’t sit next to you anymore. Not unless the lineup forces it. And when he does, he doesn’t speak much — like your presence stings, like proximity might burn him alive.
Which is ironic, because you’re the one feeling scorched.
There’s a hole in your chest where he used to be. The silence between you is louder than the sirens that wail from the truck. It fills the kitchen, the locker room, the back of the rig, the pause before you slide into your bunk at the end of the night.
He tore the thread between you with trembling hands and didn’t have the courage to stitch it back.
And you’re left holding it, frayed and useless, wondering how the hell you’re supposed to stop loving someone who never really gave you a chance to.
Buck is the first one who notices the real damage.
He knocks on your door a week after the blowout. Shows up with Chinese takeout and a bottle of wine that he absolutely wasn’t supposed to expense, but “Chim won’t know if we drink it fast.”
He doesn’t ask what happened. He doesn’t need to.
“You can talk,” he says softly, passing you a spring roll. “Or you can just sit here and hate-watch rom-coms with me.”
You try. You really do. You sit beside him with your knees tucked to your chest, and you try to laugh at whatever stupid movie’s playing — but it cracks something open instead.
“I don’t get it,” you say, eyes fixed on the flickering TV screen. “He was right there, Buck. We were right there.”
Buck doesn’t tell you it’s okay. He doesn’t say Eddie didn’t mean it. He just nods and says, “Yeah. I know.”
Because he does know. He’s been in that liminal space between almost and never. He’s lived with a heart that wanted too much.
So he lets you cry. He sits there while your voice breaks and your mascara runs, and you tell him how much it hurts to love someone who’s too afraid to love you back.
At the station, things feel colder.
Hen pulls you into more calls than usual, always with a hand on your shoulder or a glance like, I’m here.
Chim tries to make you laugh too hard, and you let him — for their sake. Not yours. Even Bobby gives you a longer look during lineups, like he’s making sure you’re still steady on your feet.
But Eddie? Eddie’s unraveling.
He’s sharper with his words. Slower to smile. Quicker to volunteer for high-risk entries — the kind that make Buck flinch.
And Buck’s watching him, arms crossed, jaw tight, because he’s done waiting for Eddie to fix this.
“You’re miserable,” Buck snaps one night in the locker room, voice low and cutting. Eddie looks up from where he’s lacing his boots, surprised.
“What?”
“She’s miserable. You’re miserable. And for what? Because you’re scared? Because it’s easier to push her away than admit you love her?”
Eddie says nothing. Just clenches his jaw, like the truth might slip out if he lets his lips part for too long.
“You’re not protecting her,” Buck says. “You’re punishing her for making you feel something real. And you’re punishing yourself too.”
Eddie stands, tense. “It’s not that simple.”
“It is that simple,” Buck says, stepping closer.
“You’re not a scared kid anymore. You’re a man. You’re a father. You know what love looks like. You had it in front of you and you shoved it away.”
Eddie looks away. His shoulders sag. His voice is quieter now.
“I didn’t want to break her heart.”
Buck scoffs. “Well, too late. But you can still fix it. Unless you wait too long and someone else does.”
The words land like a gut punch. Someone else.
That thought had been haunting Eddie for weeks — the way Buck looked at you now with that softness, that fierce protectiveness.
He sees how you smile at Buck even through your heartbreak. And he knows — he knows — that if he doesn’t move soon, he’ll lose you for good.
Tumblr media
Eddie doesn’t know when the house stopped feeling like home.
Maybe it was the way the sunlight pours in on Saturday mornings and doesn’t land where you used to sit on his couch, coffee in hand, laughter soft as wind.
Maybe it’s the quiet—too quiet—like something’s been vacuum-sealed from his life, and no matter how loud the world gets around him, he can’t unhear the absence of you.
Chris asked about you the other night.
“Why doesn’t she come around anymore?”
And Eddie, sitting on the edge of his son’s bed, couldn’t find a real answer. He lied, gently, the way people do when they’re trying not to bleed on the people they love.
“She’s been busy, bud. Just life stuff.”
But Chris is too smart for that. He didn’t press—he just nodded and turned to face the wall.
That silence haunted Eddie more than anything.
He finds himself at Hen and Karen’s, one of the few people who’s always seen through his best performances. He tells them he needed someone to talk to. Karen hands him tea before he even asks.
“So.” Karen folds her arms. “How long are you going to pretend you didn’t break your own heart?”
Eddie lets out a humorless laugh. “Is it that obvious?”
“To everyone but you, apparently.”
He sinks into the couch. “I just… I didn’t mean to hurt her.”
“But you did,” Hen says. “And you’re hurting, too. It’s written all over you.”
“I thought if I kept some distance, it’d make it easier. Like… if I never said anything, she could walk away if she wanted. And I wouldn’t have to fall apart when she did.”
Karen’s expression softens.
“Eddie, loving someone doesn’t mean they’re going to leave you. You’ve lived like the next loss is always around the corner, but she wasn’t trying to go anywhere. You pushed her out.”
“I know,” he admits, voice raw.
“I was terrified. Of how much I loved her. Of how easy it was. And how… permanent it felt. Like once I let it in, I’d never come back from it.”
“And now?” Hen asks.
He doesn’t speak right away. He just stares at the tea cup in his hands like it holds all the answers he’s too afraid to say aloud. But eventually, the truth peels itself out of him.
“I love her,” he breathes. “God, I’m in love with her.”
Later, he’s on a late shift with Bobby, just the two of them by the rig. Bobby doesn’t pry—not at first—but he looks up after a long stretch of silence and simply says:
“You ready to stop punishing yourself?”
Eddie laughs, low and tired. “I don’t know how.”
“Yes, you do,” Bobby replies. “You just have to stop running. You’ve been in survival mode for so long, you forgot what it’s like to choose joy.”
Eddie leans against the counter, voice barely audible.
“I think she was my joy.”
Bobby nods. “Then go get her back. You still have time.”
That night, Eddie lies in bed staring at the ceiling, and for once, he doesn’t picture all the ways he could lose you. He pictures what it would feel like to hold your hand again. To tell you the truth.
To stop being afraid of a heart that beats a little louder when you’re near.
And he decides—finally—that it’s time.
He’s done running.
Tumblr media
It’s raining when he knocks.
Not the kind of gentle drizzle that clings to windows like a whisper, but a downpour—relentless, cold, unforgiving.
It’s been weeks since you last saw Eddie in anything more than passing glances at the firehouse, and longer still since you heard his voice say your name without flinching.
You almost don’t open the door.
But when you check the peephole, and you see him standing there—soaked to the bone, eyes like bruises, shoulders sagging—you can’t bring yourself to walk away.
You crack the door open just enough to lean against it. You don’t invite him in.
“Really?” you say quietly. “Now you show up?”
Eddie’s lips part, but he doesn’t speak right away. You almost think he won’t.
“I know I have no right to be here,” he finally says, voice gravel-thick and wet with regret. “But I couldn’t— I couldn’t keep doing this. Not after everything.”
You cross your arms, biting back the ache in your throat.
“Everything like what, Eddie? Like telling me it was all in my head? Like pretending none of it meant anything?”
He flinches.
“I was trying to protect something,” he says. “I just didn’t realize I was destroying it at the same time.”
You open the door a little wider, just enough for him to see the anger that still flickers in your chest—anger born from heartbreak, not hate.
“Protect what exactly? Yourself? Because I sure as hell wasn’t protected when you said all those things. You made me feel insane for loving you.”
“I didn’t mean to,” he says instantly, stepping forward but stopping himself short.
“I thought if I kept you at arm’s length, maybe I wouldn’t lose you completely. I’ve lost people before—people I loved. And you—”
He swallows thickly, shaking his head.
“You scared me more than anyone ever has.”
That stings.
You let it.
“That’s not an excuse,” you say, voice firm even as your hands start to tremble.
“You don’t get to burn down what we had just because it scared you. You don’t get to come back when I’ve barely figured out how to function without you.”
“I know,” he says, and he means it. You can see it in the way his jaw tightens, the way his shoulders curl inward like he’s folding under the weight of it all.
“I lied,” he says softly. “That night. When I said I didn’t love you.”
You glance away, jaw clenched.
“I was scared. I still am. But the truth is… I’m more scared of never getting to tell you how much I do love you.”
The silence that follows is thick and heavy, and for a moment, all you can hear is the rain pounding against the pavement and the thunder rolling overhead.
“Eddie,” you say quietly. “You broke my heart.”
“I know,” he breathes, voice wrecked.
“And I’ll spend as long as it takes trying to make up for that. I don’t expect you to forgive me. I don’t expect you to trust me. But I needed you to know that I see it now. I see you. I love you. And I never stopped.”
You stare at him for a long time, and he doesn’t fill the silence with more words. He just stands there, letting it rain, letting it hurt.
Eventually, you step aside.
“Come inside before you catch a cold.”
He does. Carefully. As though you might change your mind at any second.
He peels off his soaked jacket and stands awkwardly in your living room, dripping water onto the rug he once helped you pick out on a lazy Sunday afternoon—back when things were still unspoken but full of promise.
“You still love me?” he asks, quietly, almost afraid of the answer.
You don’t answer right away.
Instead, you walk toward him, stopping close enough to feel the warmth radiating from his chest.
Your fingers brush over his shirt, soaked and clinging, and you look up at him through lashes heavy with everything you’ve carried.
“Of course I do,” you whisper. “That’s why it hurt so much.”
He exhales shakily, and for the first time in weeks, you see the man you knew—the one who carried your heart like something fragile and precious, even when he didn’t have the words for it.
“I’m still angry,” you warn.
“You have every right to be.”
“I’m not just going to forget it all overnight.”
“I wouldn’t ask you to.”
You stare at each other, storm still howling outside, hearts both threadbare and somehow still beating in tandem.
And when you kiss—finally—it isn’t perfect.
It’s desperate. It’s trembling. It’s soaked in tears and rain and months of unspoken longing.
But it’s real.
And when he presses his forehead to yours, holding you like the world might split open, you realize that maybe love was never supposed to be fearless.
It was just supposed to be brave.
Tumblr media
Falling asleep next to Eddie Diaz becomes a ritual you never thought you’d have the right to experience.
Not after the heartbreak, the months of silence, the tear-stained pillowcases, and the long nights spent wondering if you’d imagined it all.
Not after the ache of watching him walk away from something he felt as deeply as you did. But now, with his arm looped around your waist and his breath slow and even against the back of your neck, it feels like the most natural thing in the world.
Like it was always supposed to be this way.
Your mornings are slow now ever since you started sleeping at the Diaz household.
The world still spins fast around you—calls come in, emergencies rise like tides, and grief still knocks on your door sometimes. But in the stillness of sunrise, before the rest of the world wakes up, you and Eddie find time to just be.
You’ve gotten into the habit of making coffee while still wearing his hoodie, sleeves falling past your fingertips, the scent of him wrapped around you like armor.
He pretends not to notice, but there’s always a soft little smile tugging at his mouth when he sees you in it.
“You know, you do own clothes your size,” he says one morning, voice still rough from sleep.
You shrug. “But yours are warmer.”
He pulls you into his chest with a soft grunt and presses a kiss to your temple. “Can’t argue with that.”
After rough shifts, you hold his hand on the ride back to the firehouse.
Sometimes, you don’t even realize you’ve reached for it until you feel his thumb rub slow circles into your knuckles.
It’s never for show. It’s never performative. It’s just… comfort. Constant. Quiet. Sure.
You don’t need words to know what he’s thinking when he squeezes your hand just a little tighter after a difficult call. You just lean your head onto his shoulder and let him breathe.
On another note, Christopher loves having you around again.
Not in the polite, oh-she’s-nice way—but in the real, deep-bonded way that tells you you’ve become something sacred in his world.
After school pickups are his favorite, and even when it’s supposed to be Eddie’s turn, he asks if you can come too.
“Dad says you’re better at choosing snacks,” he tells you with a grin, swinging his backpack onto your back like it’s already your job.
You catch Eddie giving you a soft look through the window of the car. One that says, This. This is it. This is everything I almost threw away.
Sometimes, Chris falls asleep on your shoulder on the ride home when you’re sitting at the back. And sometimes, Eddie takes a picture of it on his phone, storing it somewhere private. Safe.
The teasing from the team is merciless—but warm.
Hen grins at you during lunch and nudges your foot under the table.
“You know, we had a pool going on. I won thirty bucks.”
Chimney raises a brow. “You all owe me. I called it two years ago.”
You shoot Eddie a look, but he’s barely pretending to be bashful.
“It wasn’t exactly subtle,” Buck adds, leaning back in his chair. “The way you two looked at each other? Come on.”
“I don’t remember you saying anything that night I told her I didn’t love her,” Eddie says dryly, smirking.
Buck raises his hands. “I was giving you time to figure out you’re a dumbass. Took longer than expected.”
There’s laughter. Real, full-bellied laughter. The kind that makes your ribs hurt in the best way.
But what gets you most is this: Eddie laughs too.
Like a man no longer holding his breath.
At night, you lie curled up in bed with him, the lamp casting soft light across his face. He’s reading something quietly, one hand draped over your hip, thumb tracing idle patterns into your skin like a habit he doesn’t want to break.
You study him sometimes. The way he softens now. How his smiles last longer. How his laughter comes easier. How he kisses you with both urgency and reverence, like he’s still making up for lost time.
“I think I stopped breathing for a while,” he murmurs one night. “When we weren’t… us.”
You look up at him. “Me too.”
He touches your cheek. “You bring me back to myself. Every time.”
You lean into him, heart swelling.
“That’s all I ever wanted to do.”
He presses his lips to your forehead, and you breathe together in the dark, the quiet warmth of the home you’ve built finally wrapping around you both.
Eddie Diaz once believed love was something you had to guard yourself against. That loving too much meant losing too hard. But now, with your head on his chest and your voice whispering sleepy dreams against his skin, he knows better.
Loving you didn’t ruin him.
It saved him.
And this—this gentle, messy, beautiful life—is everything he almost gave up.
But not anymore.
Now, he holds it all in his arms and doesn’t let go. Not ever again.

Tumblr media
“Shit..” was all you heard followed by some rustling and what sounded like the dishwasher? You looked at yourself in the mirror going back to finish your routine. Shutting off the light, you walked into the kitchen to join Bucky on what he attempted to cook. Only to be welcomed by a disgruntled Barnes in just his tank as he pulls his arm out of the dishwasher.
“Didn’t realize the dishes needed cleaning again.” You teased, leaning on the counter of the island earning an annoyed look from him.
“Oh come on,” you spoke softly, moving around the island to be at his side, arms wrapping around his side. “You made a mess didn’t you.”
He sighed, “It just dripped a little..” he tried to play it off.
“Is that why your cookbook is sitting on top of the trash and your shirt in a ball over there?” You looked up at him as he looked away embarrassed.
“Hey.” Your hand coming to his face so he’d look at you. “It’s okay, really. Things happen.”
He didn’t say anything. Just turned until he was fully embracing you, your face at his chest as he kissed the top of your head. “I think I was just tired..”
You nodded, “Between the campaign and gathering intel on Valentina I don’t blame you.”
Reaching up on your tippy toes you placed a kiss to his lips.
“Shall we call it a night? Start brand new tomorrow?” You pulled from his embrace some to look up at his face. All he could do was nod.
“Lead the way darling.” you smile as he lifts you with ease bridal style towards your shared room.
Letting you down to your feet so you can stand once again.
“I just got flashbacks to our wedding night.” you giggling going to grab some pjs for the night.
“Except that leads to something very differently than what just happened.” he says, grabbing his own.
“Well that’s too bad,” you sass playfully. “None of that is happening tonight.”
He rolls his eyes.
“Hey!” you throw your shirt at him as you go to lay in bed.
“I’m kidding!” he laughs, joining you allowing you to snuggle into his side.
“I could stay here forever.” you sigh once your body is tangled with his comfortably.
“That’s kinda the point of this.” he taps your wedding ring.
“I meant staying in bed.” you roll your eyes. “Just here with you.”
“Me too doll,” he kisses the top of your head. “Me too.”
The feeling of fingers running through your hair makes you sleepy but you refuse to sleep so soon.
“I just wish you weren’t so hard on yourself.” you say between yawns. “I know what this means to you but please don’t run yourself through the ringer.”
You raise your head to look at him.
“I know,” he sighs. “I’m just nervous I'll blow it.”
“I believe in you, I'm here through it all baby.” you smile leaning up to kiss him. “Now, enough about that. Time to relax.”
He doesn’t say anything but smile as he sinks into the bed more so he is cuddling you properly. You both spent the rest of the night talking about the most random things before falling asleep peacefully.

Shared demons part 2: Bucky looks around your apartment
Summary: You used to be part of the Avengers, but after Ultron brainwashed you and used you to help destroy Sokovia, the guilt made you walk away. You went back to working as a nurse — the profession you had before the accident that gave you your superpowers.
Steve is asking you to care for the Winter Soldier.
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x nurse ex avenger reader
Words: 1400
Era: Civil war
TW: Violence, trauma/ptsd.
Tumblr media
You have already begun to treat his small wounds on his one fresh arm - spreading ointment and then putting plasters or bandages on them. Meanwhile, Steve tells you that Tony had shot at Bucky with his power gauntlet. You look over at him, closely and you see that there's a large brownish stain on his shirt, right in the middle of his abdomen. You felt heat spread across your face, and you just knew you were blushing. You refused to look at Bucky. You glance back at Steve.
“He needs to take off his shirt,” you explain. Steve looks at Bucky. Bucky hesitates for a moment but does as you say. He starts pulling the shirt off, and you can see how it's clinging to his skin—damp from sweat and a little blood. When he finally gets it off and tosses it aside, your jaw almost drops.
He was very… fit. Still, there were plenty of scars and bruises, so it wasn’t too embarrassing to stare. Sam noticed your staring. “Are you gonna drool or help him?” he said with a smirk, although he was clearly stressed—military forces could show up any minute.
You try not to stare. You focus on the wound. You force yourself to stay professional. His chest is red—almost black in the center.
“See how the skin is swollen and bluish around the edges?” you say, pointing. Steve nods. “He has a third-degree burn,” you explain. Steve nods again, as if he understands what you mean.
You touch the skin and examine it. “Looks like the energy went straight through the skin but stopped before reaching deeper tissue.” He meets your gaze.
“It looks worse than it is,” he mutters.
“How did it feel when Tony shot you?” you ask softly.
“It burned. If it weren’t for the serum, I think it would’ve been worse.”
You nod and think about what you can do. You need to cool it down. You go through your first aid kit, trying to figure out what you need.
Eventually, you find a tube of cooling gel. You grab that and a sterile compress. You continue searching and find an antiseptic liquid Bruce gave you “for emergencies.” When you touch the skin, his abs tense—and you try not to let your eyes linger.
“This is going to sting,” you say, gently dabbing the liquid. He feels the burning sensation. He doesn’t say anything. Just a stiff nod, trying not to scream.
It didn’t take long to treat the burn. As he said earlier, the serum helped him heal. You mostly made sure it looked better on the surface.
When you're done, Bucky puts his shirt back on, and Steve pulls you aside into a corner. He looks at you seriously.
“Could he stay with you for a while?”
Your eyes widen.
“Are you serious? Do you know how tight a nurse’s schedule is?”
He sighs. “I know, but Sam and I need to track down people who can help protect him,” he explains, desperation in his calm voice. You glance at Bucky. You have to admit—you feel bad for him. You’ve been in his position. Being brainwashed messes with your mind. You go insane. You don’t know what’s real or why you do what you do. And you can’t stop people from hating you for something you couldn’t control.
You give Steve a small smile and nod.
“Okay,” you say.
Bucky borrowed a hoodie from Steve to cover his head. He sat in the backseat of the car with his head resting against the wall, out of view through the windows. It wasn’t long before you were at your apartment. You silently prayed not to run into a neighbor in the stairwell.
When you arrived, you quickly unlocked the door, and Bucky rushed inside, pulling the hood down. You followed him in, tossed your bag on the kitchen counter ( that's right by the door), and shut the curtains. You and Bucky took a deep breath, and then he began looking around your apartment. He studied the posters above the couch—your favorite artist.
(how your aparment looks like)
“That’s y/f/a. They make great music,” you said softly. Bucky smiled—he could see the passion and joy in your eyes when you talked about them.
He turned and furrowed his brows. He must’ve been confused by the TV, you thought. He looked to the right of it and noticed your bookshelf, intrigued. He walked over, and one book in particular caught his attention. He pulled it out and inspected it more closely. That’s when you saw what book it was.
“A fan of The Hobbit?” you asked, shrugging like he might not know himself. You checked the time and saw it was late. Then your stomach rumbled—you hadn’t eaten dinner.
“Are you hungry?”
Bucky looked at you and nodded.
“I can cook if you want,” you said. “But I need to go grocery shopping.”
His pupils widened, and his shoulders tensed, like he didn’t want you to leave. You tried to calm him. “The store’s just around the corner. You can sit and read The Hobbit if you want,” you said, grabbing your bag again. He nodded and let you go. He tried to sit and read, but curiosity about your apartment got the better of him.
His eyes wandered across the room. It was so… cozy. He wasn’t used to that. A gray sofa with decorative pillows and a comfy armchair. A round dining table in the corner with four chairs, placemats matching the pillows, and a flower pot in the center. The walls were filled with posters of people Bucky didn’t recognize. In front of the sofa was a large black panel, and next to it was the bookshelf he'd just looked through. He walked up to the black TV and examined it. Why would you just have a panel there? He ignored it and moved on.
To the right of the entrance was a hallway, with a long kitchen and some closets. Straight ahead was your bedroom. Bucky hesitated to enter—it felt like intruding—but curiosity won again.
He opened the door. It wasn’t a big room. A queen-sized bed made up with pretty pillows, a vanity on the left side. In front of the bed was a dresser with a music player on top. The walls had even more posters and decorations than the living room.
You came home with two big grocery bags and found Bucky in front of the TV. How had he figured out how to turn it on? He’s from the 1940s… how… well, somehow he did. He was sitting on the floor, eyes glued to the screen.
“Hey,” you said, closing the door. He looked over and smiled at you. You walked closer to see what he was watching. It was an animal channel. Probably the default one when he turned the TV on. You cooked, and then you and Bucky ate a long, quiet dinner. Until you asked if he wanted to watch a movie. He nodded.
You set out some snacks, changed into pajamas, and grabbed a blanket. You curled up on the couch and wrapped yourself in the blanket.
“What kind of movies do you like? Something serious or something funny?” you asked. He stared at you—he had no idea what you were talking about… he didn’t even really know what movies were.
You figured he’d like The Hunger Games. You liked it because you related to it—a woman brainwashed into killing, celebrated for something she never wanted. It reminded you of your life as an Avenger. You never wanted your family to die in a car crash and then get super strength. But at the same time, you wanted Bucky to find some peace, so instead, you put on Mamma Mia.
Bucky thought TV and film were fascinating technology. He never looked away from the screen. You, however, had seen the movie so many times before that drowsiness slowly crept in. Before Bucky even realized, your head was resting on his shoulder. Your eyes closed. He shifted a little to see if you’d wake—but you didn’t. He smiled. Gently cupped your cheek and stroked it, then pulled the blanket over your entire body. He leaned forward, grabbed the remote, and started playing around with your TV. It was all so fascinating.

The Mirror Atlas: An Intro to Taylor Swift’s Reflection
I’ve been fascinated by Taylor Swift’s use of mirrors for a long time and the deeper I look, the more prophetic it becomes. Mirrors in her world are never just props. They’re signals. Symbols. Tools of revelation and concealment. A mirror might reflect a self, or fracture it. It might hide a truth in plain sight... or hold someone else entirely.
Tumblr media
Now, nearly a decade after Kaylor, I remain ~unashamedly~ convinced that there is still a story being told. Whether it’s past or present, I don’t claim to know. I’m willing to wait, watch, and listen as it all unfolds. One thing is for sure, it's impossible for me to ignore. When I see a compact mirror in Karlie Kloss’s hand at the 2025 Met Gala, I can’t unsee it. The mirror is a portal—and she opened it on camera.
It’s no secret that Reputation was misunderstood when it dropped. What amazes me is that, even now, most of the fandom still doesn’t seem to get it. But maybe that’s the point. Maybe Taylor only ever meant for it to be revealed in hindsight. And maybe that’s why the rerelease is taking so long... When it comes, it’s going to be just as devastating as the first time watching it go over people’s heads again.
As I explore this, it's important to note that I see the mirror theory and eye theory in the same vein. So, if the visible eye on the Reputation album cover really is Karlie’s (and I believe it might be), then what we’re looking at isn’t just a concept album. It’s lore buried so deep, it’s taken years to even begin surfacing. Yeeeears to really start clicking.
This post is the beginning of a larger project, tracing the moments where mirrors appear in Taylor’s visual storytelling. Not as decoration, but as active participants in the mythos. This is about symbols that shimmer with double meaning—about what Taylor tells, and what she leaves unsaid. These are three mirrors that matter.
We begin in the present, with a mirror held by someone who’s never really left the frame.
1. Karlie Kloss, The Compact Mirror, and Met Gala Moments
On May 6th, 2025, Karlie Kloss posted a carousel of “getting ready” images to Instagram following the annual Met Gala. Her look that night? Glamorous, gleaming, and a little too Reputation coded, especially given who's watching. However, the morning after brought the smoking gun.
Tumblr media
In one image, Karlie holds a compact mirror. The reflection shows an eye that doesn’t quite look like hers. It appears softer, rounder. There’s a flash of blonde bangs in the frame.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Peculiar, for sure...
A video in the same post, sped up to near-invisibility, shows nothing unusual at first. But slowed down, the reflection seems to catch the shape of someone else entirely. Some say it’s Taylor. Some say it’s just a trick of the light.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But to those of us watching closely, it’s giving the Call It What You Want Miss Americana clip all over again. Five years going strong.
Even the background audio adds weight. The song playing over Karlie’s video is “U Weren’t Here I Really Miss You” by Cult Member and Mia Martina. Released in 2019, the title alone echoes themes of absence and longing. It’s soft and moody and truly feels like a fever dream. If this was a curated moment, the music choice may be the quietest clue of all.
Tumblr media
At the same time, Taylor is currently selling a compact mirror on her official site. It’s etched with the lyric, “Are you ever dreaming of me?” from Delicate.
A lyric about vulnerability, desire, and the terrifying risk of being truly seen. The mirror in Karlie’s hand lives in a video viewed thousands of times. Sure, they're not the same object, but they speak the same language. One asks the question. The other hovers near the answer.
Oh, the compact mirror... This wouldn’t be the first time it's made an appearance in their shared visual universe. In 2015’s Bad Blood—the cinematic music video where Karlie played the knife-throwing assassin Knockout—compact mirrors flash a couple of times.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In one shot, a mirror is held by Selena Gomez's character, Arsyn, and reflects Taylor (her character, Catastrophe) mid-battle. Right after, Arsyn blows smoke off the mirror into Catastrophe's face and she falls, shattering the glass wall behind her. In another moment, Gigi Hadid’s character, Slay-Z, holds a compact that functions more like a weapon than a beauty tool. The mirror isn’t for touch-ups. It’s used to see, to target, to surveil.
For my own entertainment, while we're at it and talking about Bad Blood, I wanted to note what I see as Bad Blood callbacks in two of Karlie's Met looks: 2025 and 2016… go figure.
Tumblr media
The Met madness is deep within Gaylor lore and it's something that deserves it's own dissertation. For the sake of chronicling, let's turn our eyes to 2019. On the night of the Met Gala themed Camp: Notes on Fashion, Karlie posted a photo holding a compact mirror with the caption: “Looking camp right in the eye.” It was clever and pointed. For most, it was totally misunderstood. For some, it felt like the photo winked.
Tumblr media
Camp, in its purest form, is queer—an art of exaggeration, subversion, and coded visibility. The fact that Karlie chose a mirror to make that statement only deepens the meaning. It wasn’t just a nod to the theme. It was a reflection held up to the gaze itself.
When a motif returns like this: same object, same players, years apart... it stops being aesthetic and starts being intentional. The compact mirror isn’t just a prop. It’s a reflection of things unsaid. When Karlie picks it up in 2019 and again in 2025, we’re not just watching a routine beauty shot. We’re seeing something resurface. A deep portal. A time travel. All the love we unraveled and a whisper that says: I'm still here.
2. Reputation – The Disappearing Act
If there’s an era where mirrors stop reflecting and start breaking, it’s Reputation. The visual and lyrical language of this album is all about distortion, erasure, and strategic self-construction. It’s not about being seen—it’s about being watched. And what better symbol to carry that weight than a mirror?
Let’s start with the cover.
Tumblr media
EYE THEORY TRUTHERS, RISE.
The Reputation album cover is a grayscale newspaper layout that blankets half of Taylor’s face. Some believe the visible eye belongs to Taylor, and the obscured one? Karlie’s. (It’s me. Hi.) A theory, sure—but the ambiguity holds. The cover itself becomes a mirror. Or maybe a mask. Either way, it’s hiding as much as it reveals.
I need to make my own Eye Theory deep dive (and I will)... but if you're interested now, there are so many lovely Tik Tok creators that are a total wealth of knowledge :)
Digging into the album, the use of mirrors continues. For the sake of this being an intro, let's touch on a relevant music video from this era.
youtube
We’ve already seen the compact mirror show up in Bad Blood, where it’s held like a weapon. But in Delicate, the mirror becomes something more slippery—something emotional. In this video, Taylor isn’t fighting anyone. She’s trying to find herself. And the mirrors in the video don’t reflect a consistent identity. They shift. They vanish. They resist.
Let’s break it down.
00:33–00:36 In the opening hallway scene, Taylor walks with her bodyguards through a grand hotel corridor. She catches a glimpse of herself in a passing mirror, and something strange happens: she and the guards stop, walk backward, then charge forward again. It’s as if the sight of her own reflection interrupts the performance. The self in the mirror is the managed one. The one who turns around? That’s the version trying to break free.
00:44–1:02 In the dressing room scene, Taylor stands alone, making wild faces into the mirror. It’s one of the only moments in the Reputation era where she’s truly unguarded, and it’s with her reflection. She isn’t performing for the world. She’s performing for herself. It’s silly, strange, and a little unhinged. It’s honest.
1:03–1:12 But then, the spell breaks. Three women enter the room. Taylor vanishes. And so does her reflection. The moment she’s no longer alone, the mirror erases her. That is not subtle. That is design.
2:34–2:45 Later, in the elevator scene, a woman stands beside Taylor, smiling, applying lipstick, completely unaware of her presence. Taylor is still invisible. She exists outside the reflection, outside the frame, outside the narrative.
To me, Delicate is one of the most emotionally rich videos in Taylor’s entire visual canon. It’s a meditation on freedom—the kind that only comes when no one is watching. The moves she makes in the video are strange, almost feral. And I think that’s the point. She’s showing us how she behaves when the mirror no longer holds her. When she’s unseen and alive.
There are more mirror moments in Reputation that we’ll get to in the Mirror Atlas, but Delicate stands alone in its depth. It isn’t just a pop video. It’s a reflection of what happens when the reflection disappears.
3. mirrorball – Shimmer, Performance, and Emotional Reflection
If Reputation was about erasure, mirrorball is what’s left behind in the spotlight. It’s one of Taylor’s most quietly devastating songs—soft in delivery, but sharp in what it reveals. This time, she isn’t looking into a mirror or breaking one. She’s become the mirror itself.
youtube
In the Long Pond Studio Sessions, Taylor describes mirrorball as a song about performing through pain, about the exhausting need to be “everything for everybody.” She compares herself to a disco ball—beautiful because it’s broken, casting fractured reflections for others to enjoy. “If you break it, it’s just made of a million pieces of broken glass.” That’s the metaphor. And it’s not just poetic—it’s literal.
Tumblr media
She didn’t perform mirrorball in a mirrored outfit on the Eras Tour, but that detail only makes her earlier choices more significant. In 2018, at the American Music Awards, Taylor stepped out in a full mirrorball dress. A mosaic of tiny mirrored tiles wrapped around her body. She wore it to accept awards for Reputation, the album that she’s still letting us unravel. The look was bold, but intentional. She showed up shining—reflective, beautiful, unreadable.
Tumblr media
In 2023, at The 1975’s concert in London, Taylor made a surprise appearance wearing another mirrored mini-dress. It wasn’t just a callback. It was a performance of an identity. She was stepping into a space filled with speculation, projection, and fantasy—and she wore exactly what the crowd would expect. Not because it was her. Because it was what they wanted her to be.
And that’s what makes mirrorball so devastating. The mirror isn’t something she holds. It’s something she becomes. In the crowd’s gaze, in the fandom’s theories, in the industry’s demands—she reflects, refracts, and never quite settles into her own outline. Even her absence is curated. At the 2025 iHeartRadio Awards, Taylor didn’t attend, but sent a performance clip of mirrorball from opening weekend of Eras. She didn’t appear. The mirror did.
youtube
youtube
Some may believe otherwise, but to me, this isn’t a song about love. It’s about exposure. About what it costs to be adored, interpreted, and seen only in fragments. mirrorball doesn’t reveal who Taylor is. It reflects who we ask her to be.
And maybe that’s the point. I mean, the last thing we’ve heard from her in months was a clip of mirrorball standing in for her at the 2025 iHeartRadio Awards. Now, there's many buzzing fan theories of all sorts stirring around the 2025 AMAs. If she were to break her silence there, it'd be on the same stage where she first wore that Balmain beauty in 2018. it’s hard not to feel like the loop is closing. The timing is too sharp to ignore.
The End of the Intro, The Beginning of an Atlas
So, given this brain dump, I hope it’s clear that my interest lies in the mirror—not just as a visual, but as a motif woven through Taylor’s body of work. What I've started here is just the beginning, but even with only three moments, the pattern starts speaking for itself.
It’s enough to say with confidence: the mirror isn’t just a flourish. It’s a signal. A portal. A language. And once you see it, it’s everywhere.
This post isn’t a thesis. It’s a foundation. A first pass at something deeper, something still unfolding. The Mirror Atlas will grow—moment by moment, frame by frame—as we trace this reflection through Taylor’s universe.
If you’ve noticed a mirror—literal or symbolic, lyric or live—share it. The comments are open. The story is still being written.
And if you ask me, this mirror trail feels less like theory, and more like an invisible string tying Taylor to… her.

A/N. Yes, the seventh day of k!nktober had to be Sukuna even tho I’m a Gojo-gagger…
Tumblr media
“Nanami chill.”
It’s twelve in the dead of Halloween, and Nanami Kento does, in fact, not chill - not when he’s five hours deep into overtime at the most high security prison in all of Japan, running on only three cups of caffeine and the promise of a day off sometime in the next year.
“You know I can’t do that.” he rubs his throbbing temples, heaving out a sigh as he often does. Taking one long look around the glaringly empty surveillance office, “Especially not today of all days.”
You’re humming in flippant agreement, but that only makes the furrow in your partner’s brows deepen even more. “I know I know. But don’t you think the inmates deserve something a lil’ special today? I mean, he-” Pointing at the grainy CCTV footage on your computer screen - showing one, Ryomen Sukuna, in his padded cell. Watching. Waiting. “-didn’t get a single visitor all year.”
And before Nanami can even think to open his mouth, you’re already dusting down your uniform. Grabbing the bowl of candy propped between you two that you’d swiped from the break room.
“Wait-”
“After all, what’s the worst that could happen?”
Now, you’ve always been told that you’re a little softer than most when it comes to your inmates - which perhaps wasn’t the best quality to have when your section was filled to the brim with the most infamous of yakuza and serial criminals. But they respected you. Hell, Nanami loved to roll his eyes at this one but - you think they almost liked you.
Especially Ryomen Sukuna.
You shiver at the long, long list of crimes of his that you had to memorize in your early days - distinctly remembering the way your laptop had crashed with just how far you had to scroll.
Honestly, you weren’t surprised that the most wanted crime boss across the globe wouldn’t get anything other than public threats and a few snarling officers that laugh smugly in his face. Though, you have had to sift out a few perfumed fan mail from time to time.
And even before you’d started this job, you knew of him - who didn’t?
The King of Curses, they called him. And what a king he was.
Some say he was just a crook. Others say he was a beast that seemed like he had four arms and twice the power of any normal human being.
Right before his arrest, the Curses owned half of Japan’s revenue - he was untouchable. With his deceivingly innocent signature pink hair, those circling tattoos all across his body, and the dark, dark bloodthirst to get whatever he wanted. Whenever. And fast.
It’d made international news when he was finally caught - only after a long, agonizing syndicate war between himself and the Six Eyes. It was your first day working here, and you were there to spy it firsthand when he was brought in. Shackles clanking along the metallic prison floor, towering well above the eight officers by his side, being hauled into that specialized cell like some animal.
And, yet, through it all Sukuna was smiling - smiling like he knew something that everyone in this building didn’t.
It still burns into your memory the way he’d stopped right in his tracks for the first time on his way up here, stalling for just a second. Two. Before looking right into your widened eyes, devilish grin only growing at your trembling figure.
Ryomen Sukuna had his eyes on you from the moment those handcuffs locked him in here.
And he still did.
“Hey there, Kuna-” you’re humming after the long, tedious task of unlocking all sixteen padlocks on his heavy metal door. It clamors to a shut behind you with a deafening clang! Locked from the inside. With him. Alone. “How are we doing today?”
Sukuna was sat on the padded floor of his cell, knees brought up to his broad chest. If you didn’t know any better, you’d have said he almost looked like a scolded child - had it not been for the custom-made metal cuffs that restrained him up to his very forearms. A matching leather muzzle drawn tight to cover half of his pretty face.
He was the very epitome of all you should stay away from in this prison.
And, yet, you find yourself walking towards him, carefully trying not to step on the hefty chains of his shackled ankles.
It surrounds you like an iron serpent, clinking lightly when he’s raising his half-lidded eyes to look up at you. “Heh- will it reduce my sentence if I say s’better now that you’re here, brat?”
Sukuna’s deep baritone was husky with disuse, hitching sharply at the end of his sweet little nickname for you. From what little you could make out behind the muzzle, you catch the slow, sultry curl of his plump lips. “Or should I say-” His gaze trickles down to your glinting golden badge, narrowing. “-officer.”
You’re rolling your eyes, “You and I both know we’re past all that, Sukuna.”
“Not past that enough, dontcha think?” he’s cracking his neck with a slight tilt side by side, as if he hadn’t even realized how long he’d been sitting here until you’d wandered your way inside. Cocking his head up slightly at the small glass bowl still clutched in your hands, “Somethin’ sweet from someone sweet f’me?”
“Oh-” you’re sputtering out. He knew exactly what buttons to push to tease and toy with you without even lifting a finger. “-yes, trick or treat! Since it’s Halloween I thought I might as well share the spirit.”
He’s bellowing out a husky laugh that rumbles from deep within his chest, and you have to tear your eyes away from the slight, sinful sliver of tan skin that peeks out at the jostle of his thin cotton t-shirt.
You hated to admit it - but you almost understood exactly why Sukuna got so many fan letters that you had to throw out. A secret you’d whispered to Nanami over break and then never again after he fully ignored you for a week afterwards.
Sukuna takes his languid time stretching out his limbs, and you get the distinctly hot feeling that he’s doing this on purpose. One eye cracked to watch your every jolt when the hem of his t-shirt raises just a bit too high, when his long, long legs nudging lightly against your feet.
You huff, “Well, would ya like some or not? Because I can just give all of it to Mahito in the next cell-”
“Ah, you’re so damn hot when you’re mad.” he grins, and now you know he’s having fun with you. “Fuckin’ demanding, too.”
He’s bringing up his two firmly restrained arms up to your line of vision. “And, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, silly girl, but m’a little ah- preoccupied, here.”
Oh, right.
Shit.
It would’ve been so easy to just move your fingers over to the keys in your backpocket and unlock his handcuffs for the slightest second. So easy to shut his cocky mouth up by doing the very things he knows he won’t goad you into doing.
But you sneak a glimpse up at the camera positioned at the very corner of the room - trained on the hunched over-figures of the two of you - as if to say, “Hey, see, Nanami?”
“Nice try.” And you swear you hear the great Ryomen Sukuna gasp - gasp - a sharp, tiny inhale when you reach out towards the very back of his muzzle. Your fingers scratching up lightly against his silken tresses as you feel for the clasp, letting it fall to the ground in a sad pile. Soft - it’s the first thing on your mind, and the next was how unfairly attractive Sukuna looked without his muzzle. “But you’re not going anywhere.”
He just beams up at you, showing off his slightly sharpened canines. Facial tattoos almost as sinful as the darkened glint in his eyes, “Heh- as if I’d wanna go absolutely anywhere else right now.”
Before you can snap back - or more likely, make a fool out of yourself to his amusement - he cranes his neck desperately upwards. “So? Jus’ gonna stand there givin’ me a pretty view or what?”
Too soon, you’re realizing what he wants.
And too readily, you’re crouching down till you’re eye-level with his greedy gaze. Hastily unwrapping one of the candies, “Open wide.”
Sukuna only grins. “Get closer would ya? M’not a fuckin’ giraffe now, am I?”
Fuck.
Wordlessly, you inch closer.
“Closer. These chains aren’t as long as they look y’know.”
And closer.
“Just a bit more- I don’t bite. Promise.”
And-
“Good girl.”
Before you know it - Sukuna has you exactly where he wants you. Losing your fragile balance to topple over into his awaiting lap, manspread, cushioning your fall. His biceps flex against his restraints, as if some second nature of his wanted to wrap those tattooed arms around your waist.
“I-” you’re gasping, palms gliding over his feeble uniform. Feeling every curve and divot along his hard front- fuck, he felt like a wall of bricks. So toned underneath that fabric, your chin rests softly on the valley between his plush pecs. “I’m so sorry- I didn’t mean to-”
“S’perfect though, isn’t it?” he’s cutting you off, leaning in so close now that you could feel your cheeks heat with each of his feverish puffs of air. The very tip of his nose kissing yours. “Now you can reach me- honestly, why complain when life gives ya lemons, woman.”
Your breath hitches, “I…”
“So? Gonna gimme some of that sweetness?”
You’re still unsure of what’s happening. And all you can do is to wordlessly bring the sweet treat up to his lips, almost flinching when the warm softness of his lips brush up against your fingertips.
And shit, you know what it must look like on the outside, you know that Nanami’s probably halfway through jumping out of his seat at the surveillance office already.
But you really can’t bring yourself to think about that right now - not when Sukuna’s wrapping his rosy lips around your fingers. Eyes drooping shut slowly. Lazily. Lingering longer than necessary when his tongue swipes at the candy.
It all but melts in your hand, and as soon as you’re about to pull back-
“Hold right there f’me now.”
You’re sure if Sukuna’s hands were freed then he’d have claimed a strong grip on your wrist already, because he was just nuzzling his face into your touch. Sighing out, “Can’t have my officer all dirty now, can I?”
His long, pink tongue comes up to just drag along your digits, making you keen at the slight scratch of his soft taste buds. One by one. Each of your fingers. Sucking, groaning.
Smiling at you slyly, he’s dragging his tongue in between your index and your middle finger, slurping up all the sweetened candy from before. “What? Cat got yer tongue?”
“Y-you-”
“Y-y-y-you-” he mocks, baritone voice a few octaves dramatically higher than usual. Through his smirk, Sukuna bites down on the very tip of your index, making you wince at the sharp sting of his canines. “If ya got somethin’ to say then spit it out like the big girl you are.”
He’s so leeringly smug, watching back as you struggle to meet his intense gaze as if it was his favorite show. Oh, how he wants to tease you about that little good girl routine you put whenever you stop by his cell - always smiling, always in that snug uniform that made you look so irresistible, always talking to him so sweetly as if he wasn’t the king of curses himself.
Never in his life would he admit it, but it was so…cute.
And Sukuna half-expects you to jump back this very second, to throw another one of your pouts his way and scamper off back to the safety of your office. He expects you to-
“Kiss me.”
Oh.
Fuck.
That was not what Sukuna expected - never in the hundreds of years he was sentenced to rot in this prison.
But, well, looking down at the way you were splayed out so prettily on his lap - your chin jutting forwards, hands steadied on his pecs, glossed-up lips all pursed for him - how could he ever say no?
In a split-second, he’s kissing you.
And you’re kissing him back and fuck- is it intoxicating.
Sukuna meshes his lips against yours so slowly, savoring. Angling his head just enough to suckle on your honeyed lips, you’re feeling his hips gently buck upwards, drinking up your light groans.
You mewl when he slides his soft tongue between your lips. And that’s when you learn that Sukuna has a tongue piercing, cold and metallic against your lips. He tastes so sweet - exactly like the artificial strawberry from the sweet earlier and-
“Hah-” you’re gasping at the soft clink! of something sweet, something hard being placed all prettily right in the middle of your tongue - the candy. Brows raising, “Isn’t that-”
“So what if it is?” he’s grunting, not letting you part too far away before sitting up even straight to surge his lips against yours. Mellow. Addicted. Sukuna just loved how sweet you were on him - even more so than that godforsaken candy. He’s craning upwards to nip lightly at your bottom lip, “Got a problem?”
You were so pliant on top of him, swiveling your hips down lazily at his question instead of answering. Over and over. And Sukuna almost finds it in himself to taunt you until you answer- before one manicured hand of yours grips his face, letting his sharp jaw slack open.
Only giving the candy a few drippingly wet swirls inside your mouth before spitting - a thick wad of candied spit right onto Ryomen Sukuna’s tongue. Glistening against his piercing.
And he takes it.
Surprisingly, hypnotically takes it.
He groans, eyes rolling to the back of his head when he mouths in that tiny piece of strawberry candy back. You hear the crunch! of it underneath his teeth, kissing you even deeper to show off how he’d swallowed every tiny shard.
Curling his legs around your form, it’s all it takes for his gaze to drop half-lidded, chest panting - heaving - he smiles a dangerous curve of his lips against yours.
Sharp teeth glinting against your own, he chuckles. “I think we’re gonna have a lot of fun, dontcha think, brat?”
You can only take it when he rolls his yearning hips up into yours. You feel so dizzy at the massive outline of his half-hardened cock underneath you - solid, thorough inches girthing upwards against your heated cunt.
“But first-” His teeth bite down on your lower lip, and he pulls. “-think m’gonna hafta hah- teach ya to be a good girl f’me.”
Clang!
All of a sudden, the heavy ripping of metal rings across your dazed head - and Sukuna’s just tearing apart his durable metallic handcuffs as if they were made of nothing but paper.
“What-” you gasp rubs over where the tough restraints had rubbed his skin redly raw, oh he just basks in all your sputtering disbelief. “You could remove it- but- but that was special grade?”
“Ya really thought a pile of trash like that would keep me put? Of course, I could fuckin’ get out, don’t be silly, woman.” He quirks a slitted brow with genuine confusion - almost as if he was offended at the very thought. And before you know it, Sukuna’s throwing away the useless pieces of junk towards a nestled corner of the cell - hitting exactly on the bullseye of that damn CCTV he hated so much. Both of you watch when it topples brokenly to the ground. He hums, low and sultry, “I just hadn’t found a good ‘nough reason until now.”
Almost immediately, his hands are on you. Everywhere. Anywhere.
Coaxing such pretty whines out of you when Sukuna ravages along every inch of your body, large calloused palms kneading down your tits, your waist, grabbing a handful of your ass.
“Ohh- this s’the life.” he groans, all ten of his thick digits squeezing and teasing you. He’s leaning down to nip lightly at your ear lobe, “Almost makes me forget what a naughty girl ya actually are.”
“I’m not-” you answer immediately, but it comes out much more breathless than you intended and both of you know that.
“Oh yeah?” Sukuna jostles the two of you so that you’re fully laid out across his hulking body now, and you’re squirming already - desperately trying to wiggle your hips down to where he was throbbing. To glide the sopping wet place between your thighs down his rock-hard erection. For this, you’re gifted with a branding slap! on the curve of your ass, Sukuna holding you firmly in place. “Doesn’t explain why you’re already s’fuckin’ wet like a slut, my pretty baby.”
You lick up the tattoo on his chin, “But- but Kuna-”
Another needy grind - another smack.
“Now what did I jus’ fuckin’ say?” he hisses, and the primal rasp in his tone just makes you drenched.
And Sukuna notices - of course, he notices. Drunken red eyes widening, oh, he could almost feel how fucking soaking you were through all those clothes. Too many clothes, in his opinion.
Which is why he has one hand fisting furiously at your smart uniform shirt, not a single word or apology uttered before he just shreds it right off your heaving chest.
“Oh my god-” you squeal, your hands coming up to clutch at the tatters of fabric and your badge. And your lips pout out in such a way that makes his cock just twitch, mumbling out stubbornly, “That was my new uniform-”
“S’what happens when ya get too greedy like this.” His knees raise up a bit more to rub your glissading cunt along the very curve of his fat tip. Just dragging your dripping cunt all along his bulging dick, reveling in the sticky schwf! schwf! schwf! of wet fabric. Sukuna gives an impatient tug on the fabric of your pants, “Now get rid of this before I tear that off, too.”
You couldn’t shuffle out of your belt and trousers fast enough. And oh, even that wasn’t enough for Sukuna - dazedly flinging off what remained of your shirt, your bra, before turning his eyes downwards and-
“Oh, good girl.” he whispers at the sight of you in nothing but your flimsy excuse of panties. So soaked -  translucent, even - your saturated juices making such a glossy mess at your inner thighs. He can’t help but flick at the tiny bow on your underwear, leaning up to press a soft kiss to your forehead. “Such a good girl, aren’t ya?”
“K-Kuna-” you’re barely even thinking at this point, panting. “Wan’ to feel you–”
He’s tittering a breathy moan disguised as a laugh at this, bringing up a hand to cup your cheeks. “Awww, my pretty baby wants my cock?” he coos, squeezing in two of his thick fingers between your lips.
But if Sukuna was looking for an answer, then he doesn’t wait for it.
A spit-glossed pout finds its way to his lips, mocking your own. And fuck, he was such a little tease. One hand giving your ass another slap! just to watch you whine and pretend that it didn’t make your pussy even more embarrassingly wet - shit, he was having fun. The other pulling out from inside your mouth, delicate strings of spit snap when he’s gliding his coated digits down, down, down-
“Oh-” you tuck your trembly head into the crook of his neck when Sukuna drags his thumb just across your puffed-up pussy lips. Slowly. Tantalizingly.
“Oh?” he huffs out, licking his lips at just how steamingly wet you were inside. So ready for him. “‘Oh’ is all?”
Sukuna plants another lingering smack on your ass, and by now you’re sure by now he’s left the bumpy imprint of all five fingers on your flesh. Tracing between your swollen folds gingerly with just the rounded tip of his finger up and down up and down. He gets greedy.
“Damn brat-” And it’s all the warning you get before he just forces two of his fat fingers into your messily throbbing pussy. Rubbing all around your tightly quivering entrance, “S’what I get for spoiling you too much.”
There’s no hiding from the way he stretches you open so obscenely, having your sloppy hole just gaping around his digits. All wet and cozy inside.
“Oh- m-more-” you mewl.
But he only continues rubbing saturated little circles around your teasing entrance, humming hotly against your lips. “Hmm, dunno. Think we hafta teach you some manners, silly girl.” And each of his fingers were so thick, stretching out the channel of your cunt until your mouth watered. Your body was limp, hips stuttering down softly into his hold - trying so uselessly to fuck yourself back down onto him, as if he wasn’t easily holding you still with just one beefy arm around your waist. “How about a ‘please’ first?”
You scramble to dig your nails into his bulky deltoids, tracing around his circular tattoos peeking out. “P-please!”
“Nuh uh-” he snickers. “No stutterin’”
“Please!”
Sukuna pretends to think for a few syrupy slow seconds. He nips down softly at the sensitive spots on your neck, having you trembling like a feather in his vice-like grasp. “How about a ‘pretty please’?”
And oh, he grins at the way you’re almost on the verge of tears at this point, your pouty lower lip wobbly with effort. Trying so desperately to comply with the demands of your inmate, you buck your hips so that the soft mountains on his palm graze against your clit. Whimpering, “Wh-what if I w-walked away right now, Kuna?”
“My my, resorting to threats?” he’s whispering filthily in your ear. “Now I know you’re bluffin’ woman. Because I hngh- also know-” So smug when he tugs down the soft cotton of his pants just enough to let his achy cock spring free. “That you’re gonna stay n’ beg f’me like the good girl you are.”
And you hated that he was right.
You hated that he was so big.
Hefty girth slapping up onto his abs with a wet smack! Sukuna’s red, rounded tip was so thick that you could feel your thighs clench, swiping up a glossy glide of precum onto his t-shirt. Drip! Drip! dripping along the crevices of his veins and down to his eager balls, those tufts of pink at his base. All his solid inches winked up at you glisteningly in the harsh cell light. Just waiting. Throbbing.
It made your mouth water.
So you finally answer, voice strained and breaking at the very end. “I- I wan’ you really badly, Kuna.” He sucks in a breath when you bat your teary lashes up at him, “Pretty please?”
“My good girl.”
At this very moment, the only other response you get is a sensual, slow drag of his fingers out of your cunt. The exact opposite of what you wanted - because, of course, this was Ryomen Sukuna. You whine, clawing desperately at his wrist to try and reel him back.
But he doesn’t stop. Can’t stop. Almost hypnotized in the way he brings his drenched fingers up into his mouth without a second thought. Sukuna moans at the taste. A glossy trail of your messy slick forms down the corner of his slurping mouth, and he throws his head back with a guttural, “Oh fuck- s’sweeter than any of that hah- candy.”
Ah, that did it.
Only milliseconds later, you’re being spread all flat on the floor with one swift shove of Sukuna’s big arms, panties sliding easily down your shivering thighs. It really doesn’t take much to have your dangling legs splayed out across his sculpted back, his own body shuffling down ravenously to come lips-to-lips with your puffy pussy.
And oh you can feel his smile against your dripping wet cunt, half-lidded eyes boring right up into yours. Long, pinkish tongue lolling out like he was utterly fucked - and if you angled your head just right you could see the way he was deftly spreading both of your swollen folds, the very tip of the hot muscle kissing wetly against your sloppy entrance.
“Shiiiit-” your fingers tangle themselves in his rusty pink hair. Hips jittery and bucking up drunkenly against the cool surface to chase his hot mouth. “Oh- ngh- Love havin’ your m-mouth on me- ngh-”
“Gettin’ all mouthy w’me, huh? Aren’t ya embarrassed to be absolutely ruined like this by a criminal like me?” he huffs out a bout of raspy laughter. “S’all because you decided to be a- fuck- a good- girl f’me, that’s- what.” Struggling to even get out coherent sentences because he didn’t want to part from your pretty pussy. Instead kissing all over again and again-
The bulbous metal stud of his tongue piercing thrashes up so filthily against your hot clit, coating the sensitive nub in all of his heady, swelteringly hot saliva.
And the only time you’re registering Sukuna break away just mere inches is to spit. Once. Twice.
Thumbing across the stream of see-through spit he just grins up at you in a way you knew to be a pussydrunken expression. Glassy eyes almost drooping shut, tiny dimples cratering at the very ends of his lips, the entire lower half of his face covered in a shiny sheen of slick. Drip! Drip! Drip! right onto the middle of your shamefully spread cunt.
“Ya got me thinkin’ I’d wanna live out my entire life sentences jus’ for a taste of this pretty pussy, woman.”
Roughly lapping with his tongue against your clit, each one pulling out crashing waves of white-hot pleasure that make you all but sob when Sukuna unabashedly adds in his fingers past your gummy hole.
“You can take it-” he hushes out uncharacteristically soothingly into your inner thighs, peppering soft, open-mouthed kisses along them. “Take ‘em f’me.”
Sukuna isn’t shy about immediately dragging his fingers along your sopping wet folds. Starting up a ruthless, simpering pace thrusting inside and out of your drooling entrance has you whining.
“Oh.” your mouth slack-jaws open deliriously, and for the second time tonight you feel like you’re being absolutely split-apart on his thick fingers. Splaying out a hand to glide across your tummy, “You- hngh- you already feel s-so deep, Kuna.”
Your words were cracking with a whimper each time he’s delving into your gushing depths. Building you up, wringing you taut with pleasure whenever he picked up the pace. Alternating between harsh sucks on your cunt and the absolute meanest of swipes against the spongy placeholders of your sweet spots.
“Already?” he has the audacity to cackle - cackle right in front of your teary face. “M’barely even f-fingering this pussy n’ you wanna talk about deep- lemme show ya-” He spares not even the tiniest ounce of mercy when hauling your boneless body even closer. Brows furrowing at the knocking of his chin at the very base of your cunt, the way his jaw grinded. Sukuna replaces the hand on your stomach with his own free one, guiding it up, up, up until your eyes widened and you could feel your breath tightening in your chest.
“Here.” Drawing a burning, imaginary line about halfway through - “Here is where my cock s’gonna be so ya better get- better get ready for that, pretty baby.” Looking right in your eyes, Sukuna’s tone is laced with a vicious sort of snarl when he plows on, “Because my good girl s’gonna be able to take it.”
And you’d heard of the type or orgasms that leave you speechless, that leave you so blindsided that you don’t even realize you’re having them.
Because it takes only a few more expert tweaks of Sukuna’s lengthy fingers up against every nook and crevice of your. Scissoring, swirling - round and round until he was dredging up your dizzying orgasm.
“Oh my god- I think I’m-” your words are garbling together pathetically, wet and as unsteady as each jolt of electricity running down your spine. “I’m-”
“Cumming.” he’s cutting through, tugging you by the thighs even closer to make out impossibly deeper with your convulsing pussy. Rolling his eyes, “I know I know, just shut up n’ cum all over my mouth would ya?”
It’s not like you could do anything else.
And - as a little punishment - your grip tightens searingly on his scalp, just dragging your drooling pussy all over his pretty features. Letting yourself gush all down his tongue in a steady trickle while you ride him to your heart’s content.
“Heh- getting so fuckin’- hngh- fucking greedy, aren’t ya?” he mutters out over wet slurps. Still hammering in the pads of his fingers to press up harshly into your bulging sensitive spots. “S’alright. Use me then, use me-”
Your back arches almost painfully, vision tinging with slight black at the edges, and it’s as if you were out of control at this point.
“Now now, what do you think you’re doin’ huh?” he feeds into each of your stuttering, slick glides down into his palm while you come down from your high. Eyes narrowing down at you, “And here I thought you were turnin’ into my- hah- g-good girl. Where are those hands going, huh?”
Shit, you didn’t even realize it at first.
Your hands are wandering so sluttily down to where his thickened base was just twitching in his lap. Aching to wrap your trembly fingers wrapping around him - struggling to even close.
“Oh- oh my god.” your eyes widen after a few sloppy drags of your soft palm down his length. Curving it slightly to the side at the sight of another one of his signature ringed tattoos - right around his fat base. “You have another tattoo here?”
Sukuna clenches his jaw, hips rutting upwards at a sloppy staccato in synchronization with his hands and yours. “Yeah- n’ I already know you love it-” he shudders out, chest panting. “-because I can already feel just how much wetter ya got- shit-”
With all of his almost-inhuman strength, it’s almost too easy for Sukuna to drag your body downwards to his like some silly little ragdoll.
“Kuna–” you’re dragging out in a breathy tone. Your hands shakily tugging on his t-shirt - your mind finally clear enough to realize that he was still fully clothed while you bare and fucked-out already underneath him. “Wan’ this off-”
Smack!
“Forgettin’ your place, aren’t ya, pretty baby?” he growls, but fuck did Sukuna think you looked so utterly gorgeous like this. All pouty and teary, letting out the cutest whines while you waited for him to do exactly what you said.
And, well, he might be the notorious king of curses, the most wanted criminal in all of Japan - but that didn’t mean that Sukuna was any match for you.
“M’only listenin’ because you were so f-fuckin’ good f’me hngh- earlier, brat.” he spits out. Hastily ridding himself of both that paper-thin t-shirt and pants - not tearing, you note with slight disgruntlement. Kissing your ass with another smack of his palm for good measure. You wince when he flicks your forehead, “So ya better not let it get to that pretty lil’ head of yours.”
But fuck, was it so difficult not to.
Sukuna was so mouth-wateringly gorgeous, all sculpted muscle and what looked to be miles upon miles of tanned skin that you just wanted to bite into. And you realize - with a jolt - that when those other inmates rumored he had tattoos everywhere - they weren’t lying. Thick, circular rings that highlight his bulging biceps, those toned thighs as far as your eye could see.
Now you really understood the fan mail.
Smack! Smack! Smack!
Those drippingly wet smacks this time didn’t come from Sukuna’s hands on your ass - instead, it was from calculated, purposeful little slaps of his thick cock onto your clit.
“Heh, as much as I love to have my- ngh! my cute lil’ officer ogling me-” His hand coming up to curl around your throat, forcing you to peer downwards. “-I’d rather you look where it r-really matters, silly girl.”
He sounded so proud - barely lucid already at the very sight of your tight, glistening hole kissing up against his fat tip.
Dragging a thumb down your wet slit to grin at the size difference even further, he purrs, “Yeah…this pussy has been givin’ me a real treat tonight. Might as well give her one back, hm?”
And he’s so big, so full that you can’t even whine out anything coherent when Sukuna sinks into your sloppy cunt inch by fucking solid inch. Pushing past that ring of feeble resistance, your pussy was greedily swallowing up every bit of his massive girth. Letting out the cutest squelches that make him moan.
“Oh- would ya look at that?” he bares his teeth in a devilish smile. Head thrown back at how you’re already clamping and trying to milk him with your velvety walls. “Takin’ me so well, ya really are such a good girl, huh?”
Each and every hoarse little praise is panted raggedly against your ear, and your pussy slides up and down his swollen shaft in a sultry back and forth. And Sukuna just can’t tear his eyes away from the way your cunt swallows him up so greedily - so frantically like you were trying to milk something delicious out of him.
“Kuna- hngh!” your thighs quiver up and down. Hips moving in slow gyrations against how he was rummaging all inside you. “Y-you’re stretching me out so good ah-”
He’s still trying to squeeze inside, still pushing and pushing. Pressing a hand down on your stomach, “Told you I’d be right-” Bottoming out. Hard. “-here.”
Each and every juttering ram into your gooey depths have you keening, and his eyes growing even wilder. Grin curling upwards at how every kiss of the very tip of his rotund cock has your spongy cervix bouncing into him, your walls pulsing where he swipes inside. Looking for-
“Fuck!”
That.
“Heheh- hope ya can take it, brat. Because once I start-” he presses hot peck after peck down your jaw. “I can’t stop.”
You learn very quickly that that wasn’t a threat - it was a promise.
Every plunge into your melty pussy has you almost bawling, because Sukuna wasn’t gentle - no, he doesn’t even ease you into it. The soft curve of his head presses in so harshly against your bulging g-spot, so thoroughly in rough, wet glides. Each single hammer upwards sinking against wherever drove out the prettiest moans from your pouty lips, having you such a shaky mess underneath of him.
Exactly how he’s  been wanting you this past year in confinement.
“W-what-” you sputter out, dragging your nails across his neck to mash your lips onto his. Tasting the candy and you and the candy- “This past year?”
Oh. Shit.
“Heheh- did I say that out loud?” Sukuna rumbles, struggling to catch his breath while he swallows back each keened-out whimper threatening to break out from his lips. He gives your tongue a slow, tasteful suck. “Whoops- hah fuuuuck- you see what this pussy does t’me?”
He brings one large hand down to your jittery hips, the other drawing a tender stripe across your still-sensitive clit. That heavenly feeling just makes you clench, and Sukuna to throw his head back with a withering groan. “S’fuckin’ dangerous- you’re more fuckin’ dangerous than me- hah-”
You giggle at the way he was running his mouth now, sentences slurring together like he couldn’t even find the words.
“You see this-” he pants, so sensitive that Sukuna can’t help but tuck his face into the crook of your neck. And you feel the burning flush of his cheeks, the way he brings your hand up to pat his plush pec, thumping thunderously underneath his heated skin. “-got me fuckin’ crazy here- ngh! M’on my knees for you n’ you’re all here actin’ like such a good girl.”
As he babbles, Sukuna actually falls back onto his knees.
Dragging you right along with him to spearhead his cock vertically into your snug channel, his powerful thighs are thrusting up, up, up-
“Oh-” You’re wrapping your arms tightly around his neck when faced with another stinging smack! And this time he takes the opportunity to roll his fat thumb even deeply against your clit. “S’so-”
Sukuna’s eyes were half-lidded now, grumbling out little profanities into your mouth. “What? Can’t even speak now?” He chuckles - but it sounds higher-pitched, breathless like he was fucking losing it. “Doesn’t- ngh- doesn’t matter- this cunt is speakin’ ‘nough for the both of ya. Why dontcha act like my good girl n’ ask what she’s sayin’?”
God, your face burned with such mortification - and it’s all you can do to dart a bleary look towards that smashed CCTV camera once more. Gulping out a breathy, “Wh-what is she ah- sayin’, Kuna?” over those deafening squelch! squelch! squelches.
He positively beams, “She’s saying…” Nipping down on your lower lip, tasting that familiar strawberry on your tongue. “-that right about now she’s gonna cum.”
And sure enough, a particularly harsh clashing glide across your g-spot has you sobbing, has you twitching - it has you cumming. Over and over all over Sukuna’s relentless cock, and not just that-
“Shit, woman.” Sukuna stares, jaw-dropped in awe at the absolute mess your overwhelmed cunt was gushing out. Coating his erratic thighs in a wet gleam of all your juices, it seeps into his skin, dripping down the curve of his legs and onto the padded floors. “Fuckin’ squirted all over me, you’re fuckin’ ah- unreal- fuck–”
If he couldn’t maintain that gruff tone of it that’s because he was genuinely in heaven. Mouth watering, achy cock twitching up into the cushiony sides of your walls once.
Before he’s shooting such a sloppy load into your already-messed-up pussy, dumping out thick volumes of seed again and again. It sloshes in all over your insides with every quivering wave of your own orgasm, seeping out from the edges of your sopping slit. Slobbering. Overspilling.
Sukuna grunts, feeling you shift gingerly up and down to milk each of his stringy ribbons of cum, leaving sinful dredge after dredge that paints a creamy white ring around his base.
“Fuckin’ wastin’ it-” he’s jeering, plugging in one of his indexes into your already fully-stuffed entrance. “Better keep that shit all inside- m’not gonna let my good girl waste it, m’kay?”
“Mhm.” you nod, your drowsy body leaning heavily into his. And Sukuna wraps both his strong arms around you to just pin you to his body. “Might jus’ be the best Halloween I’ve ever had-”
“It fuckin’ better be or so help me-”
SLAM!
“Yo, King of Curses~” both of you snap your heads over to the sudden intruder that’d just crashed the bolted cell door open. He was tall, enveloped by the harsh light from behind - but you could make out those features anywhere. Any guard in this prison could. Throwing over a heavy leather jacket Sukuna’s way, “I tried to wait until your pillowtalk was over but Nanamin can only hold off the bastards on morning shift for so long. So ah chop chop, Suguru’s already waiting for us.”
Gojo Satoru.
Leader of Six Eyes, foe of Ryomen Sukuna.
Looking at you like he wanted to positively devour you, “Or, well, if your cute lil’ officer’s coming, too, then we could continue this when we get back to the hideout. Don’t you think, sweetheart~”
And Sukuna, oh Sukuna was scowling ever so slightly at the other’s words - but he only had eyes for you. “So, whaddaya say, brat?”
---
In the hazy haven of the surveillance room, Nanami lets out a deep shudder. Head thrown back against his leather chair, he takes a few bleary moments to collect his breath.
“Fuck…” he groans, placing that small handheld camera monitor on the table. A secret one. One that no one working in this prison building - and least of all you - knew about. All of that had been an accident, really - an unintentional part of the plan. But the way that Nanami has to drag his boxers upwards, zipping his uniform pants back up wasn’t.
Taking a steadying gulp, he throws away that soiled tissue. Fingers punching in a few numbers on his phone, all according to his rehearsed script. “Yes, hello?” watching the monitor unwavering. Unsurprised. “We might have a situation.”

Tumblr media
They say he takes the form of some dragon-like creature—with large black horns and wings.
The first time you witnessed it with your own two eyes was when he choked out a serpent wanderer ten times his size before it got to you. You were semi-conscious at that point of time, the fatigue threatening to take over, but you had caught a glimpse of his silhouette—two thick appendages that curled proudly past his dirty silver hair, and large wings that hung off his back—before you blacked out.
“Staring at me isn’t going to get any of your curiosities satisfied”, Sylus snaps you out of your thoughts. Your gaze flickers to his face, but Sylus has his eyes on his phone.
Then his gaze shifts to you.
“What are you thinking about, sweetie?”
Of course, you couldn’t just tell him outright that you wanted to see him magically grow his horns out of his head. You doubt even Luke and Kieran have seen it themselves.
“Your horns.”
Sylus lowers his phone onto his lap, then he cocks an eyebrow, which turns to a furrow in seconds.
“What gave you the idea that I grew horns?” He asks, his tone laced with mock and caution. His attention is fully on you now.
Yeah, maybe that was not a good question to ask. Then again, being around someone as direct as Sylus had made you pick up his mannerisms quite a fair bit.
“Nothing really”, you brush off, attempting to derail the conversation before something goes wrong. “I’m just curious.”
“Talk”, Sylus demands, albeit in a soft tone. “I’m listening.”
His crimson eyes burn a hole into your head, and you now only realise the way he has you cornered on his couch, his large frame looming over yours.
You sigh, realising he’s not about to let it go anytime soon.
“A few weeks ago, during one of the battles we had, where I almost died-“
“Get to the point, sweetie”, Sylus cuts, seeing through your guise.
You pout. “Right. Before I blacked out, I saw you appear right in front of me, with horns.”
Sylus raises his eyebrows, seemingly in amusement. “You sure you weren’t hallucinating?”
He earns a smack on his chest. You’re ready to let him disprove you further or whatever, but your body jolts when you feel Sylus snake his arms around your waist before he carries you effortlessly off the corner of the couch and onto his lap.
You watch his eyes grow soft when he locks his gaze with yours. His expression is unreadable.
Your eyes widen in amazement when the thick pair of horns curl past his locks, the black a stark contrast with his white hair. He looks like he’s wearing bows in a funny, demonic type of way. Not that he has to know that.
You continue to stare at his horns, visually taking in the rough yet smooth texture and patterns that run downwards as the horns grow thicker towards the base.
“What are you really?” You wonder aloud, your fingers reaching out to feel the interesting texture of his horns, only for him to pull away quickly.
“It’s not the right time for you to know”, he replies curtly. You notice the glint of concern in his eyes, shrouded under the indifferent expression he wears.
So you decide to leave it for now, at least.
Nonetheless, it doesn’t stop you from annoying the ever-loving shit out of Sylus about his horns once you found out about it.
He would stare at you with his eyebrows furrowed, muttering that he should have never told you about his horns, only for you to bat your eyelashes at him, much to his annoyance.
“At least let me touch them if you’re not gonna tell me more about them”, you would whine. With a frown, he would push your forehead with a finger, giving you his standard answer.
"No."
“Then could you at least tell me why you won’t let me touch your horns?”
He would rest his thumb and index finger on his chin, feigning a thinking stance before his expression drops deadpan and then the curt answer leaves his lips.
“No.”
You’re putting this right next to when you were fighting for your life to get that fucking brooch months ago.
While the thought continues to eat into your curiosity, you mostly let Sylus off the hook after a while. For some reason, you’ve been noticing that Sylus has been walking around his mansion with his horns freely out. Maybe because he’s shown you his full horns once that’s why?
Or he’s just straight-up taunting you.
You feign nonchalance, only stealing glances at the thick appendage that stood out against his pale locks from time to time, but never really bringing it up to him, for now at least.
You hear the raindrops patter against the large windows of Sylus's room one afternoon. At least the heavy clouds are hiding the sun on top of the dark curtains drawn, and it makes Sylus's rest a little more comfortable.
He's sound asleep beside you on his bed, but you're seated up on your phone, the sound of the rain also slowly luring you to grow sleepy. You stretch a little, careful not to wake the male beside you. Sylus grunts softly, and you feel his hair tickle your thighs.
Through your peripherals, something catches your attention. The black on white is undoubtedly hard to miss.
Now that Sylus seems dead asleep, you're considering taking a chance to take a closer look at his horns, and maybe even touch them.
Carefully, you shift your weight closer to Sylus, monitoring his expressions and movements. When the coast is clear, you lean closer, staring at his horns with much amazement. It's a lot different now that you're this up close to admire them.
His horns aren't simply a simple shade of jet black–at different angles, you notice how the scales of his horns shimmer like an oil spill under the soft light. Close up, the base of his horns are thick, and as it extends, it curls, almost fully wrapping around his head.
“So pretty”, you mutter to yourself. Your fingers are reached out as if by instinct, barely inches away from touching his pretty crown.
You pause, weighing the risks of attempting to touch his horns. How fucked would you be if you actually did?
Your eyes scan Sylus’s calm sleeping face. He doesn't seem to have even noticed his horns have grown out.
“It’s just a little touch, he won't feel it anyways”, you convince yourself softly, your resolve firming as your curiosity begins to bubble over your rationale.
You let your fingers brush his horn, feeling the cold and scaly texture beneath your fingertips. Your eyes are sparkling in amazement even more, now that your curiosity has been satisfied. You press your fingertips onto the appendage, enjoying how nice and cool it feels to the touch.
Just then, you hear Sylus groan slightly. Your hand immediately retracts before you fully freeze, watching the way he presses his head against your leg, his eyebrows slightly scrunched before it returns back to relaxed.
Close call.
You obviously don’t learn your lesson, because your fingers are on his horns almost immediately once more. You grow more curious about the feeling of running your palm across his horns this round.
So you do.
Your hand starts from the thick base, and you stroke it, following the horn's curl, enjoying the way the texture of the scales run smooth under your palm.
And then Sylus makes a sound beneath you. You squint in curiosity, wondering if you heard it right.
So you run your hand from his tip to the base this time.
And this time, Sylus lets out another moan. You definitely did not hear wrong.
Your cheeks are slowly flushing when you realise what you're doing to him. But for some reason, it makes you want to do it more.
So this is why he doesn't want you touching his horns?
With a cheeky smile, you run your fingers along his horns in various ways and places, eliciting more pretty and erotic reactions from Sylus.
You giggle to yourself, trying to ignore how he's making you aroused with all the noises he's making with every stroke you give his horns.
You want to go for the next round, wondering how far you can take this.
Obviously not very far, because the next time you do, Sylus’s hand catches your wrist before you're about to touch his horns again.
He stares at you with half-lidded eyes, pink dusted on his cheeks and his breathing shallow.
“Are you having fun, kitten?” He asks with a frown.
Fuck.
You feign a smile, trying to wave your hand from his grip, of course, your attempts futile.
Sylus’s other arm curls around your thighs, locking you from leaving the bed while Sylus lets his sleep leave his body from the rude interruption.
“Denying me of satisfying my curiosity only makes it worse”, you shrug. Well, if only Sylus had just let you have a little touch…
The corner of Sylus’s lips pull up to a half smirk.
“Right”, Sylus replies, a hint of annoyance and something else laced in his tone before he shifts above you in one swift motion, trapping you underneath him on his bed.
“Then, I'm sure you don't have to be reminded that actions have consequences?”
You swallow hard.
His hand that grabbed yours is placed on his chest, and he forces you to trail down his body, feeling his thick chest, then his abs under your touch, all the way down until he stops you right on his thick erection.
“You should take responsibility, don't you think?” Sylus asks with a raised eyebrow.
You know it's pointless even attempt to escape when he’s devouring your lips like he hasn't eaten in days. It's so intoxicating. You would never admit your greed, but Sylus knows you well enough to feed you so good. You want to pull him so impossibly close.
In between breathless kisses, your warm hands trail from his biceps to his shoulders, to his neck, and right to his hair.
You test waters–letting your fingers rake through his hair, grazing the base of his horns. You get his green light when he doesn't swat you off, on the contrary, it makes Sylus grow more desperate in the kiss.
You confidently stroke his horn, from base to tip once more, and the moans that leave Sylus’s lips sound like fucking heaven.
His crimson eyes finally meet yours, and he almost looks like he's in pain.
“If you keep doing that–ngh–” Sylus trails off with another strained moan when the sensation of you stroking his horn buzzes right to his cock that he has shut his eyes to hold back.
“This?” you tease, sliding your palm down to his base once more, rubbing the scaly appendage, watching him failing at trying to keep his composure.
“Fuck”, he hisses, diving into your lips once more, eating you up.
He pulls away briefly, pressing his lips just below your ear.
“You’re gonna be taking responsibility, kitten.”
He presses himself close onto you, so close that you feel his cock just pulsing against your pelvis, only separated by his black sweats. Sylus takes your chin in his fingers and steals your breath away once more, uncontrollably grunting with every stroke your hands play with his horns. You feel his cock twitch, then pulse before the feeling of warmth spreads across your skin, accompanied by a long, drawn out moan in your mouth.
It makes you dizzy with bliss, realising what you've done to him.
Sylus pulls away once more, catching his breath, his eyes reflecting something more feral when you met his.
But all you do is flash a cheeky smile at him, letting your fingers caress his cheek.
His fingers tug at the waistband of your shorts and he yanks them off, almost growing feral for the second time when his eyes meet the sight of the way your pussy is glistening so much that a wet and thin string of arousal sticks itself in between your pussy and your soaked panties.
Well, Sylus is holding the short end of the stick anyway, because when he tugs his sweats down, your heartbeat accelerates as your eyes land on his cock–thick, red and completely covered in white and thick cum, some staining his underwear, twitching slightly with dribbles of cum seeping past his cockhead when the fabric brushes past his balls.
He looks so fucking delicious when he's messy like that. Shit.
“You seem to be enjoying yourself, staring at me like that”, he teases. He doesn't even look embarrassed.
“Maybe I should play with your horns more often”, you reply with a smile. Sylus narrows his eyes at you, his expression mixed with annoyance and affection. His fingers press against your soaking clit, enjoying the way the smile on your face gets wiped, replaced with a contorted expression of pleasure when he rubs it in slow circles.
“I’m strongly against that idea, sweetie”, Sylus responds, leaning in to take in the expression of your mind slowly growing dumb and blank just from his slender fingers rubbing you out. “It’ll give you a little too much leverage over me.”
Through the hazy and building pleasure, you still manage to reply, “that's the whole point.”
Sylus only smiles at your reply, his fingers leaving your clit. You're about to protest, that is, until he grabs you by your hips, dragging you closer to him, then pressing your knees to your chest, before his wet cock slowly enters you from below. He watches your face contort in pleasure–your eyes rolling back and your eyebrows furrowed–while soaking in the fucking delicious feeling of your cunt warm and wrapped around his cock.
“S-so good”, you whimper, his fullness knocking out any ounce of breath and sense out of you at a dangerous pace the his cock inches even deeper into you.
“Such a nice and warm pussy hole”, Sylus grits, pushing himself even deeper, his control slipping when he's buried himself all the way in. “Fuck, you're so good for me, kitten.”
You're clawing his pillows when Sylus starts fucking you, and you're looking at Sylus with such a glazed out expression–and you know it drives him fucking crazy. His palm rests on the bulge that his cock is pushing every time he enters you, and it makes your thighs shake. Your moans grow in pitch and tone on top of the sounds of lewd wet skin slapping.
He lets you wrap your legs around his waist in return for letting him scatter love bites across your neck.
So you decide that it’s the perfect time to aim for his sensitive spots once more.
Your fingers tug against his scalp, then alternating to stroking his horns once more, throwing Sylus into another round of pleasured daze.
You feel his cock fill you up even more, and it makes you greedy to how far you can push it.
“I really should make you regret this”, Sylus mutters, failing to suppress another groan when your fingers scratch against the base.
His thrusts become more like ruts, his cockhead hitting your g-spot over and over as payback. Sylus sprouts a satisfied smirk as he watches you completely come undone on his cock. You throw your head back while stars flicker in and out of your vision. The pleasure is growing so fucking good that you're choking on your moans too.
“Right there! Fuck, that feels so fucking good, Sylus”, you sob through wet lashes and heavy pants.
Sylus is mesmerised by your pretty expressions and the pretty sounds you always make for him when he's breaking you apart.
Maybe you finding out about his sensitive horns is his punishment for indulging in these sick pleasures. Nonetheless, he still wouldn't have any other way.
Your hands find his horns once more, and he falters for a split second. But he doesn't shake you off since he's much too focused on trying to force an orgasm out of you.
Your pussy squeezes him before it starts uncontrollably fluttering against his cock. Ah, his goal is slowly being fulfilled.
As your orgasm dangles above you, you react with periodical squeezes on his cock and his horns, which definitely draws a much larger reaction from Sylus.
“So close”, you whine, your orgasm slowly filling the crevices of your brain, plunging you deep into pleasure. Your cunt clenches on his cock, and you unintentionally yank his horns.
Sylus fucking growls, pressing himself so fucking deep into you, his cum fucking spurting into you–so much that some is leaking out from your plugged pussy hole and onto the bed.
He pulls his cock out momentarily, letting his cum ooze from his cockhead, his eyes darting to the loads seeping out of your hole, before he slides his cock into you once more. You gasp at the fullness, another squeeze to his horns, which only stimulates Sylus once more, and his cock fills you up with another warm and sticky load.
He’s panting, but he musters his energy to meet your eyes.
“Sweetie”, he calls out to you amidst his dick attempting to take over his brain. “If you don't get your hands off, your pussy won't be able to hold anymore, I guarantee.”
He's met with a fucked-out and sly grin from his partner.
“And I thought you enjoyed challenges.”
Sylus scoffs at your comment, realising that he really has to teach his kitten a lesson to not touch things that aren't hers.

Pixar did not have to go as hard as they did with the Kronos Unveiled scene in The Incredibles (2004), yet they did anyway and gave us one of the best scenes in modern cinema. Literally cannot stop thinking about how good this scene is, from the animation to the build up to the soundtrack.
I don’t think I truly understood how dark this scene - and this film - was a child: Syndrome is systematically and strategically luring in superheroes and killing them off in order to test and improve his Omnidroid design… these people were not only supers but they also had family and loved ones too, just like Bob, and one day they would have just disappeared because chances are they weren’t telling people where they were going because it was "top secret" and against the law. They thought they were doing something good, like helping the people in the island, while also getting to relive their glory days, perhaps even paving the way for superheroes to make a proper comeback… only for Syndrome to kill them in cold blood.
Most of these people can actually be seen at Bob and Helen’s wedding in the beginning of the film - they weren’t just random supers, they were their friends, people they worked alongside and cared about. It’s even worse when you realise that Bob probably blames himself because, after all, Buddy/Syndrome was his biggest fan and he dismissed him by not letting him help.
The relief on Bob’s face when he realises Syndrome doesn’t know where Helen is - meaning he also doesn’t know where their children are because he didn’t realise they were married at this point - is so realistic and gut wrenching to see. The relief contrasting with the anguish of knowing how much danger they and their entire family could have been in the entire time without even knowing...it's so well-done, you can literally feel it.
It’s also worth noting that originally the next target wasn’t Mr Incredible but Frozone - that was who Mirage was trailing, hence why his location is “known”. Imagine if she/Syndrome hadn’t realised that Mr Incredible was with him and they’d lured Frozone in instead as planned; he would have gone to the island to fight the Omnidroid 8 in a volcano setting. We saw how being in the burning building dehydrated Frozone and made it impossible to use his ice powers - presumably it would have been the same in the middle of a lava filled volcano, and he’d have been slaughtered just like the other superheroes before him.
This scene shows an entire generation of superheroes - Bob, Helen and Lucius’ generation - wiped out all because Syndrome felt slighted by his hero as a child, because he internalised that slight and let it drive him to revenge. And, if we take into account the deleted alternate opening scene, it’s mentioned that superheroes "aren't supposed to breed” - meaning there’s a likelihood that Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack are among the very few supers of the next generation. I know that it's deleted and so not really canon, but it's definitely a concept to consider, I think.
Then there's the fact Syndrome named the project "Kronos" - Kronos was a God who overthrew his own father in order to take over his rule, and then he ate his own children to prevent them doing the same thing to him. It feels like it reflects Syndrome once looking up to Mr Incredible and even saying "I could be your ward!", meaning Mr Incredible adopting or fostering him - the project name is a metaphor for Syndrome destroying the Supers, especially Mr Incredible, who he viewed as a father figure. The Omnidroids he built killed two birds with one stone: not only was he able to acquire the data to upgrade the robot to its final design, but it also eliminated the real super heroes and so left him as the last remaining "superhero", even though his powers are man-made, not something he was born with.
Not only did he want to become the only remaining superhero by killing the real ones in revenge, he also planned to sell his inventions at some point so everyone can be super - because "when everyone is super, nobody is". It's like a final blow to the memory of the superheroes he had killed.
I've talked too much about this scene but God... I love it so much more as an adult because it's just so chilling to think about. I'm sure other people can put it much more articulately than I just tried to, but I just really wanted to appreciate this scene.

It didn’t matter how long Joel had tried to convince you that he had just done the right thing, you still believed you owed him your life. Because he saved your life.
And after a period of Joel insisting you stay away from him for your own good, back when you lived in the QZ, he eventually took you under his wing. Now, he was intent on keeping you there.
It was his responsibility to protect you. It was his responsibility to make sure you had everything you needed. It was his responsibility to make sure you never got consumed by the darkness of this world like he had. It was his job to keep you safe. And you? You loved it.
More like you loved Joel, but you never bothered to separate the man from his actions. Why would you? You loved him. You really did. And he did the same for you.
The love you had for him was all consuming ever since he had told you, “I want you by my side, no matter what.”
Being in Jackson brought peace and security, and you were assured that your connection wasn’t merely out of necessity. You continued to choose each other. You would always choose him over everything else. It was just what you did.
You loved him because he saved you, but it was more than that. So, so much more.
You loved him like a friend, who you could talk to about anything. Your age difference hindered your ability to relate to one another on a lot of things, like the way you looked at the world, or how you solved problems, but even when you weren’t agreeing, you at least understood one another in a way no one else could.
In Jackson, it had been suggested that you could live with some other girls closer to your age, but Joel ended that discussion. Instead of a two bedroom house, he took up residence in one with three. You never would’ve wanted to live apart from him and Ellie, but you were relieved he had been the one to decide. It reaffirmed that you were just as important to him as he was to you. You needed that reassurance more often than you’d ever let him know.
When you first arrived, before you found your place in the community, you would hide out in the house. It was hard for you to grow accustomed to the way of life here, and even harder to trust people. Joel made sure you never stayed alone too long. When Ellie was out, which was more often than you but less than Joel, he would end up returning. Some days you found yourselves talking nearly every waking hour, and laughing together more than either of you could’ve expected.
He knew you loved him like a friend, but you loved him like a father as well. You never told him that flat out. You could just hear the grumbly comments about making him feel old, and even though it would be light hearted jokes, you wanted to keep the relationship as it was.
Joel was a toughened person, but he treated you delicately when he could. It would get to a point where you thought the label ‘fragile: handle with care’ was printed on you, but he never talked down to you. You liked that he protected you and made you feel safe without controlling you like he would a daughter. Not like how he was with Ellie. You were fine seeing him as a father without him seeing you as a daughter. It was best this way.
Needless to say, you loved him simply as the person he was. It overwhelmed you sometimes.
No, not sometimes. Often.
Everything he did made you okay with the fact that he had never said the exact words. He’d come close, had said them in many other ways, had proved to you that he did, but you never got the real thing. That was something you had thought you could live with as long as you could feel it. And as long as you could continue to love him as well.
So with Joel, now, sitting on the couch by your side, facing you and saying, “I love you. I have for a while,” your heart jumped from your chest. It changed everything in an instant.
You were smiling before you registered that he wouldn’t meet your eye. And was that… shame, maybe, in his voice? The way he kept it low, like he wasn’t sure he should be speaking.
Joel, in the distant past, would get frustrated with your naivety before it became a thing that endeared you to him.
It took you a long moment to get it. Then, all at once, you did. You wondered if he could read the shift in your face. From the moment your awe became tainted with understanding.
“You don’t have to say anything,” Joel continued. “But you know I hate lying to you, and not telling you… it felt like lying and I couldn’t do it anymore.” He swallowed. “I love you,” he repeated, to both you and himself.
Deep brown eyes that held years of life you couldn’t even begin to understand met yours, and you couldn’t seem to speak. Those words felt forbidden from him. You had spent so much time wanting to hear them, longing to hear them, before you made peace with the fact you wouldn’t. You had become okay with never hearing them from Joel because he consistently proved it to you in every other way.
And now, here he was, telling you he loved you, and you hadn’t leapt at the chance to say it back.
You knew why, and so did he. You could see him searching your face and with every second that passed, you watched his confidence crumble.
Joel was hurting. Your silence made him ache.
He took a long breath, bowed his head and shook it a little to himself. Experiencing regret in its entirety.
“I’m sorry,” he uttered finally. It felt like a knife to hear the defeat in his voice. He turned to face forward. “I- I should’ve known better.” He dragged a hand down his face. “I’m so much older than you, and I’ve done things that I can’t come back from, and you…” Joel stole a lingering glance. “You’re so perfect.”
You were the furthest thing from perfect, but you believed that Joel believed you were. It was the way he said it. He was so sure and you loved him for it. For seeing you in ways you couldn’t even see yourself.
You watched him, knowing that the man you loved was hurting. It didn’t seem fair to let him continue when you knew you were the only one that could make it stop.
It was almost an out of body experience, the way you moved. First closer to him, so close your legs were touching. Then your hand reached for his, your smaller fingers wrapping around it to squeeze. When he met your eyes, you saw the moment hope replaced pain, and you couldn’t help but smile.
“I love you, too,” you said, because it was true.
It was both a surprise and not when he kissed you. It was soft at first, and it reminded you of the way he often was with you. When you didn’t pull away, it ignited something in him. Suddenly his hands were on your face, deepening the kiss.
You kissed him back because he needed you to.
When Joel felt your lips moving against his, it told him two things. One, it told him what he needed to know, which was that you loved him. And two, it told him what you wanted him to believe, which was that you wanted this.
Joel grew a little more sure, pulling you closer to him. He couldn’t get enough and was struggling to hold back. You could feel it. Both his want and his restraint.
You weren’t sure what to do with your hands, so you put them over his shoulders, rubbing the back of his neck, letting your fingers card in the longer ends of his grown out hair. You always wondered what his hair felt like.
Joel liked your curiosity and let his own get the better of him. His lips trailed from yours down to the side of your neck. You sucked in air, your face hot as you tried to catch your breath, when all of the sudden his kisses were replaced with a small, suckling bite. You gasped. You couldn’t help it. His hands moved, one resting on your back when the other held the back of your neck. Not hard, just keeping your close. You buried your face into his shoulder as he grew more confident with the use of his teeth.
The moan that escaped your lips when he soothed the harder bite with his tongue made his grip tighten. His breath hitched. You swallowed, flustered, unsure of yourself as your body shivered on its own. Joel pulled back to look at you, just long enough for you to see the desire clouding his eyes, and then he was crushing his lips against yours.
The weight of Joel’s body pushed you down onto the couch. You kissed him back, trying to keep up with his rough, hungry mouth, but your inexperience was catching up to you. You’d only ever kissed boys before, and now you had a man on top of you, his body pressed firmly to yours, his hands running down your frame as he devoured your lips and nipped at your skin. Muttering about how beautiful you were and that he was trying to be gentle but that you could tell him to stop if you wanted. He didn’t know you wouldn’t because as wrong as it felt, you wanted to give him everything he wanted. In turn, all you wanted was to hear him say he loved you again.
You didn’t need it before but now you couldn’t get enough. It wasn’t enough when Joel peppered kisses to your lips and neck. It wasn’t enough when he pressed himself between your legs and caused you to dig your nails into his back. You needed more. You needed him to say it again.
You let him take off your clothes when he asked so, so sweetly. You knew Joel was going to admire you, and he did, and that look on his face was worth the uncertainty you felt. He wouldn’t let you cover yourself, and it felt kind of nice when he kept your arms from crossing over your chest. It reminded you how strong he was, but how even with all that strength, and even when using it on you, he was careful. He didn’t want to truly hurt you, and you loved him for it.
“I’m gonna take care of you,” he promised, lips against your ear as his fingers settled between your legs.
“I know,” you managed, breathless.
It made him smile, which made you smile. You couldn’t stop staring at him when he lifted his head to look at you. That is, until he pushed a finger into you. Your eyes fluttered shut and he was immediately in your ear again, and you understood for the first time the term ‘sweet nothings’. His low, soothing voice against your ear helped you relax as he pushed in another finger, and after a few minutes, another.
You were wet, you couldn’t help it. You found yourself apologizing, but he encouraged it. He liked you squirming beneath him, liked that your body was responding.
“It’s okay, baby, you’re doing good,” he groaned. “I want you to be ready for me
You didn’t know what possessed you to say it, but the words, “I am,” slipped from your lips. It was all he needed to hear.
His fingers slid from your body. A little voice in the back of your head told you to get them back, but it was silenced when he pulled the rest of his clothes from his body. You felt the tip of his cock nudging at your entrance. You couldn’t look down, and you were too embarrassed to look him in the eye, so you shut yours.
A hand touched your face.
“Look at me,” Joel urged. “Don’t be shy. I wanna see you.”
You obliged, forcing your eyes open, watching him above you. You found it hard to believe you never fully saw how handsome Joel was.
When he began to push into you, the stretch was much more than his fingers. You had to open your legs wider. Joel ran his hands up and down your hips and waist, soothing you as he eased himself inside, telling you, “It’s okay, you’re doing great. Just relax. You’re taking me so well,” and you couldn’t help but bask in the praise. It hurt a little, but you were practically purring by the time he was fully seated inside. You didn’t mean to, but your body squeezed him, and his cock throbbed inside you.
Joel made a noise of pure bliss as he let his weight rest on you. You were so overheated, sweat slick between your bodies. When he started kissing you again you almost forgot about it. He was a good kisser, which made sense given he had more experience than you. A twinge of jealousy ran through you at the thought of him with anyone else and you pulled him closer. It wasn’t quite a laugh he let out, most just a sound of amusement at your actions.
“I’m not going anywhere,” he promised.
One of his hands found the back of your head, holding you so your mouth was his and he could have his way. The other hand ran over your ass and down your thigh, encouraging you to wrap your legs around him. You did.
He started to move, then. Pulling back a little and pushing in. It was such a foreign feeling. You couldn’t keep your noises to yourself, but Joel savored them. When he started to move a little faster, his methodical motions turning into thrusts, he seemed to be seeking those reactions from you.
It was a cycle. The rougher he moved, the more whimpers and moans he pulled from you, and then in turn the sounds spurred him on. You were holding onto him for dear life by the time he was pounding you into the couch, groaning your name, telling you how good you were.
“It’s like you’re made for me,” he grunted into your ear, and you hoped he meant it, because you believed it.
“I’m yours,” you told him.
“Tell me again,” Joel started in a grunt, thrusting forward. He held himself completely inside you for a moment, shuddering as your nails dragged down his back. It took your breath away, feeling so full. He pressed his forehead to yours as he said, “Do you mean it? You love me?”
“Yes,” you said without hesitation. It was true. It was the only thing you’d known to be true and maybe this wasn’t the way, wasn’t something you imagined, but it didn’t make that simple fact any less true.
“Say it.”
“I love you.”
Joel groaned, shoving his hips forward. You whimpered. He was already in you to the hilt.
“Again,” he groaned.
He needed it just as bad as you did.
“I love you, Joel. I love you.”
He pulled out before thrusting back in. Again and again you told him, and he moved, building back up to an even harder pace than before. You could hardly stand it but you told him over and over again like a chant;
“I love you, I love you, I love you,” and even breathless you never faltered. Even when Joel kissed you rough and needy, like he was starved, you still got out the words, “I love you.”
Your legs were barely holding on despite your effort. Your hands began to slide from his back but you continued to grasp onto him. One of his hands found your wrist. You would let him if he wanted to, but you didn’t want him to hold it down. You needed to touch him. Needed to feel him. Needed the security that he proved.
As if he could read your mind, he turned his face to kiss your palm, then let your wrist go. He gave you free range. You chose to run that hand fully through his hair. Every part of you needed to be touching every part of him. He invaded your mind and soul, the last step was your body, and he was accomplishing that this very second. You belonged entirely to him. Even as tears pricked in your eyes at how overwhelming it all was, to love and be loved by Joel was all you’d ever wanted and known for years.
He huffed out a half grunt half laugh when your body started to tense. He was pleased. Could read your body better than even you. You were so lost in the sensation that you let out a yelp when a hand moved between your legs, rubbing at you in tandem with his cock slamming into you.
“That’s it,” he coaxed. “Just let go.”
And you did. It didn’t even feel like a choice. It just happened. The pleasure became too much to handle. It rippled through your whole body as the knot in your belly snapped. You tensed and shuddered around Joel, holding onto him as your cunt clenched down around him, trying to keep him inside to allow you ride out the wave without feeling empty. Joel wasn’t keen on denying you. His thrusts became shallow but hard, sending jolts through you until you felt it. With a groan he stilled inside you, and then warmth flooded your insides. He rocked his hips forward a little as he spilled inside you, and you felt like you couldn’t breathe.
As the haze started to fade and awareness returned, something akin to dread settled over you. Everything became all too real all at once.
Joel kissed life back into you. His hand between your legs moved to run across your belly and thighs, while the other held your face so he had as much access to your lips as he wanted.
You started to move, feeling crushed, but Joel took care of that. He managed to turn your bodies so you were lying on top of him, but he was careful to not withdraw from you. He bucked his hips up a little and you whined. Joel chuckled as he wrapped his arms around you, hugging you to him. You turned your head to the side, your cheek resting against his chest. You listened to his heart rate come back down, unfocused eyes trailing around the living room. Joel kissed the top of your head and ran his calloused hands over your back.
“How did I get so lucky?” he asked, not really looking for an answer. You didn’t have one, anyway.
You wanted to crawl off of him. It was all becoming too much again. As good as it had all felt, it confused you, and you thought maybe you wanted to cry, but then came the words that had you subdued.
“I love you, Y/N,” Joel breathed.
You didn’t think he understood the power he had in his words. As far as he knew, you loved him the same way as he loved you. You would continue to let him think that if it meant you could protect him from the heartache, and if you could keep hearing him say the words you craved. You knew, eventually, you could learn to love him this way, too. If he was happy, you knew you could be too. Being loved by him was all you ever wanted. It didn’t matter how else you felt because that need would take priority over everything. You would always choose him over everything else. It was just what you did.

“I really don’t think this is a good idea,”
To be fair, Yelena Belova had every right to be apprehensive of your idea. It had only been a few months since The New Avengers had been formally established, and the team itself was still finding its groove working together. Standing up to Valentina and saving Bob from himself? That was one thing. Receiving missions from Valentina’s team, having to travel the globe in order to save innocent civilians? That was a whole other can of worms that they’d popped open without thinking of the consequences.
The amount of missions the team was needed on was slowly ramping up, going from just two a month to now almost four in just the last month. The entire team wasn’t always needed for certain mission: Bucky, Yelena and yourself had been sent on solo missions, while Alexei had tagged along with John and Ava on others (much to their dismay at times). There was always one agreed-upon rule: Bob was staying in the Watchtower.
It’s not that the team didn’t want Bob with them, because everyone did. They knew he wanted to feel wanted and feel useful, that he didn’t want to simply do the dishes after dinner every night and read through every book that had accumulated in his room. The problem came down to control. When they had fully explained what had happened that day in New York to him, the Void and how he became his worst fears, the small sense of control he seemed to have over his powers had slipped. His worst fear had quickly become losing control once again and hurting his team, hurting the people of the city.
You, though, had another idea.
“I think it’s time, Lena,” you tried to reason with her that night in the kitchen, the pair of you working on the load of dirty dishes together. Yelena cleaned while you dried them and put them away, working in tandem just as you had for many years within the Red Room, memories you both wanted to forget. “Bob is capable of controlling it, I know he is, he just needs help. Just let me train him, show him some basics and help him find that sense of control again.”
“And if he loses control? If the Void takes over his mind again?”
“I’m not scared of him,”
Yelena scoffed, shooting a smirk toward her oldest friend before focusing back on the dishes before them, hoping to finish them sooner rather than later.
“Just because you have a little soft spot for Bob doesn’t mean your idea is the best idea,”
“I’m not asking any of you to help me,” you shot back, bumping your hip against hers with a pointed look for her comment about your soft spot for Bob. “Just trust that I can do it. I believe in Bob, and that’s enough for me to try.”
Yelena paused at the sink, quietly watching as you placed the dishes up into the cabinet where they typically went, and let out a sigh, shaking her head.
“Fine, but it’s on you if it goes wrong,”
“Come on, what’s the worst that could happen?”
Convincing Yelena was the part that you knew would be easy. You’d grown up just houses down from her, Natasha and Alexei, kept there under the watchful eye of your own Red Room spy posing as your mother. You’d escaped America with them, been trained through the Red Room and escaped mind control with Yelena by your side, and brought down Dreykov once and for all with her, too. There weren’t many people Yelena trusted in the world, but you were one of the very few. You knew it might take slight convincing, but she’d ultimately trust your judgement in the end.
Now, convincing Bob was a whole other story, one you knew wouldn’t be easy.
“No uh, no way,” you sighed, watching Bob pace his bedroom and wring his hands together. He glanced at you for just a second before shaking his hand again. “Using my powers means being the Sentry and I can’t be the Sentry without…you know…”
“And it’s been months since there’s been any incident, Bob,” you tried to explain to him softly. Without giving him a chance to pull away you reached forward, silently taking his tense hands in your own and squeezing them. “Look, you’re holding my hands and I’m not being transported into any shame room!”
Bob tried his best to laugh at your attempt to lighten his mood. His cheeks flushed a bright red as he pulled his hands from your own, shaking his head as he sat back down on his bed, picking back up the book he had been reading before you’d come in and pitched your idea to him.
You took a deep breath, wracking your brain for any idea to hopefully convince Bob that this was good for him, that learning control again would be good. The cover of the book in his hands distracted you, a smile crossing your lips in an instant as you recognized it.
“I remember buying that for you last month, along with the rest of the series,” you told him gently, sitting down on the bed beside him and gesturing to the book. “Seems like you’re enjoying it, since I’m pretty sure that’s book three.”
“It’s not bad. Helps pass the time,” Bob shrugged, looking back to you with a shy smile. “You have good taste.”
With a shared smile between you both, you bumped your shoulder with his lightly, glancing down at the book before looking back to his eyes. God, were you fond of those blue eyes.
“You trusted my book recommendations…can you trust me on anything else?”
Bob didn’t hesitate before speaking again.
“I trust you more than anyone,”
The way he said it, so sure of himself, made your smile grow even wider.
“Then trust me when I tell you that this could be good for you. Learning control again will help you, even just the smallest bit of practice and control can be good for you. Please, just try? For me?”
It was quiet between you both for a moment, eyes never leaving one another, before Bob’s voice came out softer than it had before.
“Yeah…yeah, okay. Let’s try,”
It was a process…a long process to say the least. It took almost two weeks before you could even get Bob fully comfortable in the full gym that tower had for him to even consider channeling his powers again. He never liked going to the training room when John and Alexei were there, Walker always managing to make snide comments toward Bob. You knew Walker cared, he just hated wearing it on his sleeve and masked it instead, but that didn’t mean you appreciated the small remarks.
Instead, you’d gotten Bob comfortable with heading to the training room whenever Bucky and Ava were sparring, the pair tending to leave you both alone unlike your other friends.
“I know you can do it. Just focus on it, channel your energy into it, and command your mind to do what you want it to do,”
You didn’t have an extension range of powers the way that Bob did, so you weren’t entirely sure that what you were instructing Bob to do was actually helpful to helping him learn control, or even get comfortable with his powers again. But he was trying, and that was enough for you.
Bob took a deep breath beside you, focusing in on the 20 pound medicine ball on the ground across the room from the two of you. He held his hand out, making your mind flashback to that day in the tower when you were forced to fight against him, something you had refused to do, and you saw the furrow in his brows as he tried to focus in and command the ball to move. There was silence in the room, besides the sound of Ava and Bucky talking across the room.
You watched Bob in silence as he seemed to grow more frustrated, desperately trying to move the ball across the room toward you both. You placed your hand on his arm, thumb gently rubbing across his skin in the most gentle and comforting way you could muster, tone hushed as you spoke just to him.
“You can do this Bob, just focus. You can do it,”
The tenseness in his body seemed to leave him at your words and your touch. Bob pulled his hand back in toward him, and for just a second, he was delighted as the weighted exercise ball finally moved across the floor.
Until it stopped just an inch after moving.
Bob’s head was buried in his hands in seconds, and you could see the deep flush in his cheeks through the cracks in his fingers as he mumbled to himself. You couldn’t entirely hear him, but you could make out the words “mistake” and “useless” clear as day as your hand made its way to his back, rubbing it comfortingly.
John Walker’s obnoxious laughter from the doorway cut through the silence of the room before you could encourage Bob to try again.
“Wow! I thought after a few weeks you’d have his control and powers in better shape there, Widow,” John whistled, stepping slightly further in through the doorway. You could hear Ava mumbling to Bucky about how this wouldn’t but good, but John didn’t seem to care. “I mean an inch! Wow! I mean hey, it’s not all about size right?”
“Walker, that’s enough-”
You tuned out Bucky’s scolding of John, looking back to Bob. His hands had left his face, his eyes trained on the ground, as he continued to mumble to himself about how he was useless. Your blood boiled in an instant, reaching down to take one of Bob’s hands in your own and squeeze it in comfort as you turned your glare back to John.
“Hey Walker? How about you shut it, yeah? If I wanted to hear an ass’s opinion I’d take myself down to the zoo and ask the fucking donkeys,”
John laughed again, shrugging off Bucky as he tried to place a hand on his shoulder, pointing over at you. Your hand tightened around Bob’s as he did.
“Want to say that again, Widow?”
“Ex-Widow, thank you very much. You should remember that your dick belongs in your pants and not in your personality,”
“Keep running your mouth. This little experiment here of yours isn’t good for anyone. Just because you’ve got a little soft spot for Bobby boy here doesn’t mean-”
Walker was cut off as the medicine ball Bob had been trying to move was flung across the room, narrowly missing his head and embedding itself in the doorframe behind him, shattering and splintering the wood and burying itself in the wall. Ava’s gasp was the only other sound as Bucky grabbed Walker almost by the back of his neck, shoving him out of the room with a gruff comment of “let’s go” as Ava followed behind.
Your eyes finally left the piece of exercise equipment now one with the wall of the room, gaze turning back to Bob. His hand was held up in the direction the ball had flown, but it was shaking slightly. You trailed your gaze up to his eyes to see he was already looking down at you, eyes blown wide as she stammered over his words.
“I wasn’t, that- that was a mistake. I didn’t- I really didn’t mean to do that he was, he was just- he’s such an asshole sometimes-”
Your laughter cut him off, pausing him in the middle of his tracks as you gripped his hand tighter, forehead falling against his shoulder as he stiffened for a moment, before relaxing and smiling slightly at the sound of your laughter ringing through the room.
“Oh my god, Bob, that was brilliant! I’m going to use that idea next time Walker decides to be a dick to mask his own troubles, that shut him right up!”
“I didn’t mean to, though,” he quickly backtracked, shaking his head as you lifted your head, looking up at him, though still holding his hand tightly. “It was a mistake.”
“Mistakes happen. We’re human, it’s natural,” she smiled at him, tilting her head toward the ball. “Now…do it again.”
Bob stared at her for a moment, truly trying to discern what he possibly could’ve done to deserve you. You’d stepped between him and Walker down in the vault, keeping the former Captain America from laying a hand on him, you’d almost died in the elevator shaft to make sure he didn’t. You’d refused to fight him that day in the penthouse, trying to bring him back, and it was ultimately you who was the first one to run to him and pull him back from the Void.
When he looked at you, he could feel the flutter in his chest, something he hadn’t felt in a very, very long time. He knew what it meant, but he couldn’t find the words to say it. It was in thinking of that four letter word while staring down at you that he’d pulled the ball right back to the two of you, letting it hang in the air before you both for a moment before dropping it to the ground.
Your eyes had never left his, your smile only growing wider and your fingers slotting between his own.
“Not bad, Bob. Not bad,”
It was a month later that your idea would be fully put to the test.
HYDRA was the most stubborn organization, like an insect that just refused to die. Steve Rogers couldn’t stop them in the 40’s, and there was no stopping them now. They’d rebuilt momentum as an organization during the Blip, with cells popping up around the country. It didn’t take long for information to come in about their new main base; an underground compound hidden within the Five Ponds Wilderness in upstate New York. The New Avengers had been tasked with infiltrating and dismantling the base, taking in as many soldiers within for questioning by the US government, and recovering any intel that they’d managed to steal during their rebuild time.
It was an all hands on deck operation, the team knowing it was going to take all of them in order to fully infiltrate and dismantle this large base. In your eyes, that meant no one was sitting this one out.
“You guys handle dismantling and capturing soldiers. I’ll handle intel recovery…and I’m taking Bob with me,”
The comment had everyone at the briefing table pausing, including Bob, who had opted to sit in the corner of the room after you had asked him personally to attend the briefing with you.
John refused to meet your eyes, knowing his single apology weeks ago wasn’t enough to calm how angry you still were over the situation. Alexei and Ava shared concerned glances, while Bucky and Yelena seemed to have a conversation entirely with their eyes. The former Winter Soldier was the one to turn back to you, giving you a small nod.
“He’s ready?”
“I think he is,” you trailed your gaze over to Bob, giving him an encouraging smile. “The question is, do you think you’re ready?”
Bob looked at his teammates, his friends, seeing the apprehension in their eyes. But all it took was one look back to you, to the pride and encouragement shining in your gaze on him, that had him sitting up straighter.
“I am,”
It was that simple sentence that had Bob finding himself trekking through the wilderness of upstate New York behind you, decked out in a minimal tactical suit that the team had insisted he wear for the mission. He didn’t mind it, anything was better than that monstrosity that Valentina had put him in before.
“Is this normal?” Bob cautiously questioned you, stopping alongside you in a clearing in the woods you’d finally gotten to. “You know…splitting up? The team all uh, went another way didn’t they?”
“Our mission is intel recovery and intel recovery only, so it was easier for us to head through this separate entrance,” you explained, kneeling down in the leaves below your feet and brushing them away, revealing the steel door below your feet. You glanced up at him, smiling. “This should bring us closer to their control room, which minimizes the amount of fighting that we have to deal with.”
Both of you finally making your way through the hatch and down into the halls of the, Bob stuck close to your side as you guided him through the halls, earpieces in your ears alerting you to updates from the rest of the team. The hallways blinked in the emergency red lights you knew would be going off, signaling that the base was in lockdown mode. That meant your friends were doing their job further down the compound.
You’d briefed Bob on the mission on the very short jet ride to upstate. Taking the separate entrance would mean minimal fighting for both of you, which you wanted for Bob. You wanted to ease him into missions like this, especially when he was afraid to fully unleash his powers and be ‘The Sentry’ in fear of losing himself. You found a middle ground, instructing Bob that you would handle the majority of anyone you came across as well as the intel dump to your central computers back at the Watchtower. All he had to do was watch your back for stragglers.
With the compound in lockdown, most of the HYDRA agents had been pulled to the main fight. Using the tech embedded into your suit, you did a quick scan through the control room door, highlighting the agents that were inside.
“Just follow my lead and watch my back,” you mumbled to Bob, hand on the door of the control room, glancing back at him with a small smile. “You’ve got this.”
Within seconds of throwing the control room door open you were inside, launching yourself over the row of computers, legs spread as you took down two agents simultaneously with kicks directly into their throats. You ducked under another row of tables as shots rang out from the gun of another agent, propelling yourself up and above the table toward him. His gun tracked your movements, shots ringing through your ears, but the bullets hovered in place. Bob was barely through the doorway, one hand stopping the bullets from touching you while another held off the agent rushing toward him with ease.
In the signature move you’d learned from Natasha herself, your thighs enclosed around the neck of the agent shooting at you, twisting your body until you were both thrown to the ground, With another single twist of your legs you heard a crack, quickly scrambling back to your feet.
With one agent dead and two down you glanced to Bob, who was entirely fine holding back the agent that was struggling against his powers to get to him. Kicking the chairs before you out of the way, you quickly inserted the USB into the main computer drive, initiating the sequence to download any intel that HYDRA was harboring in the compound.
Bob was simply staring at the man in front of him, head tilted as the agent struggled against his mental hold on him that held him in place. Realizing that he needed to be focusing on watching your back instead of messing with the agent, Bob quickly threw him across the room, the agent’s head hitting a wall and knocking him out almost immediately. Bob smiled to himself for just a moment at the sight; he felt bad for hurting anyone, even if these people were bad people that needed to be stopped. But to have this kind of control over his powers was a miracle to him, something he didn’t believe was possible. And he owed everything to you-
“BOB!”
He frantically turned, seeing one of the agents back on his feet, hand wrapped around your throat and body pressed against the row of computers before them. He could hear your choked coughs from across the room, your feet pushing against the man’s chest in a desperate hope to knock him off of you. It was to no avail, though, as the agent lifted his other hand with some sort of device encased in it. The HYDRA agent pressed the button on top of the device, the entire body of it lighting up red in seconds.
“NO!”
You sucked in a deep breath as the agent’s hand was ripped from your throat in seconds, your own hands flying to your throat as you tried to regain control of your surroundings. Bob with a single flick of the wrist dragged the man aross the room, launching him into the wall opposite you at the speed of light, a sickening crack sounding through the room.
Your eyes locked with Bob’s for just a second before you both looked to the beeping, red device at your feet. Without a moment’s hesitation, Bob flew across the room in what seemed like a blink, grabbing hold of the device and launching it across the room toward the door where you had entered. In the next second he turned, covering your body with his own as he pulled you both to the ground just as the device containing a high powered bomb exploded.
In an instant your hands covered your ears, feeling the rush of heat from the blast and pieces of debris rush past you and Bob. He body stayed crouched over yours, keeping anything from the blast from hitting you. It seemed to go on for what felt like forever until all that was left was the smell of smoke and gunpowder in the air and the faint crackle of electricity from destroyed wires.
After another moment to recover, you crawled out from Bob’s arms, quickly turning to the harddrive behind you to pocket the USB and whatever intel you were able to download before the explosion. You turned back to the area of the blast, and felt your breath leave you at the sight.
The entire wall that connected to the main hallway was gone, the ceiling having come down on top of it as well, almost splitting the room into almost half of the size it had been when you had first entered and encountered the agents. Wires were exposed within the ceiling, pipes leaking down into the room as small fires burned in the explosion area of the rubble.
“Widow, Bob, answer us!” fully coming back to your senses, you could hear John’s voice through the earpiece in your ear. “We heard an explosion, does one of you copy?”
“One of the agent’s had a bomb, but we’re both fine,” you called back to the team, still breathing heavily as you surveyed the damage before you. “The room…not so much.”
“Did you get the intel-”
“That’s not important,” Yelena’s voice cut off John’s, and you could hear the concern within it. “What’s wrong with the room?”
“My best guess is we’re trapped now, given that an entire wall and half the ceiling was just blown out,” you relayed back to them. “We’re underground so I really don’t want to think about being trapped within a concrete room with what I can only assume is a limited amount of oxygen, so if the three super soldiers on this team could hurry their asses over here and help dig us out sooner rather than later we’d appreciate it.”
“Stay put, we’re on our way,”
“Stay put, as if we can go anywhere,” you mumbled to yourself, tearing the earpiece from your ear and pocketing it, ears still ringing slightly from the blast. “Bob, you okay?”
Your eyes stayed trained on the debris before you even as you asked the question. After a moment of no response you glanced to the side at one of the only walls that wasn’t destroyed, freezing in place at the sight of a black tendril like shadow crawling across the wall.
“I made a mistake…it’s my fault…”
Turning fully, it felt like ice had suddenly run through your veins at the sight before you.
Bob was on his knees on the ground, eyes trained on the floor, but he was barely Bob anymore. Half of his face, of the face of the beautiful, broken boy you’d fallen so irrevocably in love with over the last few months was still visible. The rest of him was bathed in shadows, tendrils of it seeping out through the floor and into the walls, as the Void slowly took him over.
“Bob…” your voice was low, cautious, as you took a single hesitant step back.
He looked up at you at he sound of your voice. One single blue eye remained, tears welling in it and streaming down his face, in contrast to the shadow and pinpoint dot that covered the other half of his face. He spoke like himself, but almost like there were two of him, a low and gruff second voice of his layered over it.
“It’s my fault. It shouldn’t have happened I- I made a mistake. I could’ve hurt you, I could’ve got you killed,” his voice broke for a second, a sob almost seeping out of him as the shadows took more of what was left of him away. “I’m useless. All I do is make mistakes, all I do is make everything worse. You shouldn’t have brought me, I wasn’t ready. I- I can’t hurt you. I couldn’t live with myself if I did.”
“You protected me,” you tried to explain to him, voice soft as you crouched down, bringing yourself down to his level as you held out your hands toward him. “You saved me. You didn’t make a mistake, Bob, neither of us knew he had a bomb. You did everything you could. Please just…just listen. Just come back to me.”
He stared at you, one blue eyes and one pinpoint eye, but your words seemed to go in one ear and out the other. The shadows still crept in.
“I’m better off dead. If I’m dead I…I can’t hurt you. I won’t hurt you,”
The shadows crept in again, that blue eye full of tears barely left to look at you, as the Void was seconds from swallowing him whole once again.
Panic filled you in that instance, at the thought of losing him, and you lunged forward. Your knees dropping to the ground in front of him as you threw your arms around him, burying your face in his neck as you cried, letting the shadows consume you as well.
“Don’t leave me…please don’t leave me,”
It could’ve been minutes, it felt like hours, but in reality it had only been seconds before your eyes opened once more. There were arms wrapped around your waist as your brain caught up with you that you were still with Bob. You flung back, prying your head from the crook of his neck as you pulled back to look at him, just as he looked back at you with a similar look of confusion.
One hand came up to cup his cheek, overwhelmed to simply see his face unmarked by shadows. His eyes trailed over your face before they flickered around the room, face contorting in confusion.
“This…this isn’t one of my shame rooms,”
You followed his gaze, breath catching in your throat automatically as you took in the room. The grand pillars in front of the staircase, the white and black tiled floor beneath your feet, the dim lighting you knew all too well.
The Red Room.
“No…it’s one of mine,”
Bob’s hand around your waist tightened at the sound of heels against the floor behind you. His hand never left you, and your’s never left him as you both turned to face the scene before you.
You were so young, only 9. You stood to the side of the room, still in your ballet flats and hair slicked back impeccably. You recognized the woman in heels, of course you did she’d been your instructor since you were barely old enough to be molded into one of their assassins. She came to a stop before you, glaring down at you. God, you were just a child.
“You were given simple instructions,” her shrill voice cut through the air as you tightened your hold around Bob at the sound. “A simple task. You have been a perfect student…only to fail now.”
“I’m sorry, mistress,”
“There are no apologies here,” her voice cut in again. “Only consequences.”
Two burly men entered the room, holding the arms of a body not much bigger than your own at the time. They tore the sack upon the child’s head off, revealing her face: Polina. You’d grown up together, progressed through every challenge together. Besides Yelena…she’d been the closest thing to a best friend you could have in a place like this.
Bob’s own hands on your waist tightened as the mistress pulled out a revolver from the waistband of her skirt, loading a single bullet into the chamber. Her gaze flickered back to your young 9-year-old self, glare harsher than it was before as she saw your eyes were closed. “Open your eyes, and accept your consequence.”
A single tear made its way down your cheek as this young version of you did as she was asked, holding back her own tears as she looked into the eyes of your friend, just as the mistress’s bullet pierced her skull.
“What…what happened?”
“Simple…I made a mistake,” was the only response you could muster back to Bob. You pulled your gaze from the bloody scene before you, turning back to the man you loved as he watched you. Shaky hands cupped his cheeks, thumbs gliding over his skin as you swallowed the lump in your throat. “Bob…we all have regrets. We all wish we could’ve done things differently. We all make mistakes, whether we want to or not, but it just means we’re human. We are not the sum of all of our mistakes, but what we choose to do differently because of them.”
Bob leaned into your soft touch, his eyes never leaving yours. He shook his head, choking on his own words as he tried to find the words to say.
“All I’ve done is cause you pain…cause everyone pain, because I keep- I keep making mistakes. I don’t know how to fix it,”
You thought about the next thing to say, what you could possibly say to get through to him, but words no longer seemed to do the trick. Instead, your hands held tight to his face as you surged forward, molding your lips to his own.
In a single kiss, you tried to convey every single thing that you needed him to feel. The way that you had cared about him from the moment you’d laid eyes on him, that one single look into his blue eyes had forever held him a place in your heart before you even realized he was the one occupying it. That in your eyes, he could do no wrong, that there was no mistake he could make that would make you love him any less. That you would walk through fire, cross any ocean, or throw yourself into the void of his own mind if that’s what it took to bring him back to you. The press of your lips against his own, the hesitant reciprocation back from him as he tried to navigate this new territory, his hands gripped onto your waist in hopes to ground himself in the moment, you tried desperately to ensure that he knew everything you needed him to know in that moment.
You pulled away, eyes closed as you felt him lean back into you, chasing after the feeling of your lips on his. Your nose brushed against his, hand moving from his cheek to the nape of his neck, tangling in his hair.
“Just stay with me. That’s all I need…just stay with me,”
When you finally opened your eyes, you were back in the debris-covered room of the destroyed compound, still kneeling on the floor. You could hear the sound of your friends from beyond the debris, calling out for you as they tried to move the debris before them to get to you both.
All that mattered was the man still wrapped in your arms, shadows faded away as if they’d never appeared to begin with, leaving behind those beautiful blue eyes that shone brightly with one thing only: love.

Omg okay I can't stop thinking about needy lovesick Sevika with a younger femme partner (you can totally do a continuation of the fic you wrote) so what if, she's a little needy&insecure for their age gap? That her girl gets bored/annoyed with her? (She doesn't have this type of thoughts all the time, but the seeds of doubts grows when she hears other people talk, not directly about her and reader, but in general but it does linger when others points out how different they are) or in her own way, she start craving more compliments, affections from her but dunno how to do it and at the same time she's trying to gauce if her girl still likes her (she does!!) yet just the thoughts/doubts hurts Sevika like so bad, because she would do anything for her darling, what she has to do to make her girl still love her and not leave her?
— sevika with a younger partner and feeling insecure
Tumblr media Tumblr media
synopsis: sevika doesn’t have a type. whether they’re older or younger, just as long as they could keep up with her that’s all mattered. but ever since you two started dating, she starts to wonder if she’s the one who could keep up with you and how deep down, it scares her that you might find a problem with it eventually.
note: I just had to post this before going to sleep because the idea is too good. I love the way your brain works and again, thank you for sending in the req <3 love you and I hope you like this.
Tumblr media
you were a beacon of light in the cesspool of chaos that is sevika’s life.
to this day, she still doesn’t understand how you and her got into a relationship but here you are now, going strong for almost a year and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
you two rarely get into arguments, when you did she never hesitates to reach out and fix the situation right away because she can’t stand being on bad terms with you for long.
you two are on the same mental wavelength, which sevika appreciates given how you’re a lot younger than her. she’s in her 40s and you were in 20s, but sometimes she forgets because conversations always run smoothly between you two.
but just because she forgets that doesn’t mean other people fail to bring it up.
when you started dating, it was a bit difficult given how it wasn’t received well by a lot of her peers. not that they judged her for it because they could never unless they wanted to have their face busted in. but it was the occasional remarks that had a hint of judgement in them that made sevika uncomfortable.
things such as “she’s a bit young, isn’t she? you better keep an eye on her especially because you’re always at work. it’s hard being in a relationship with someone who’s at a different stage in life as you.”
both of you had jobs but her work compared to yours was hectic. you work as a waitress at jericho’s meanwhile sevika is paid to get her hands dirty for silco. the job was tedious and draining and sometimes she comes home, tired to the bone that she could barely catch up with you. which she feels immensely guilty for.
you’ve reassured her that it isn’t a big deal and that you understand her status in zaun is far more important than yours. you’ve always acknowledged sevika’s role in the under city and why she was feared by many, that’s what attracted you to her in the first place. she was loyal, devoted and her endurance was insane.
but still, despite how sevika’s job is her number one priority, it still doesn’t slip her mind that she may accidentally neglect you and your needs without her knowing.
and she knows it takes a toll on you too, you just don’t want to bring it up because you respect her too much. and she was right because when she came home early one night you weren’t there, and it was almost midnight when you finally returned and you were shocked to see sevika sitting on your couch waiting for you. usually she’d be back around 2-3am.
“hey, you didn’t tell me silco would let you off the hook early,” you said but your words became background noise because she was too focused on your appearance. you were dressed up and from where she sat she could tell you’ve had a lot to drink.
it’s not that it upset sevika you went out, you could do whatever you want but it saddens her that you didn’t even go out of your way to tell her about it assuming she’d be coming home late. is this what you do when she’s not here? go out with your friends and have fun? it’s not that she expects you to wait for her in your apartment all day while she’s away for work.
still, the thought bothers her as she wonders what you must’ve been up to while she was gone. she tries to set the thought aside, not wanting to think bad of you because she knows you’d never go against her back. but certain thoughts crept up at the back of her mind. did you meet someone while you were out? were you offered drinks? did someone invite you out to dance?
“sev, baby, you there?” she didn’t even realize she zoned out until she felt you cupping her cheek “are you tired? you shouldn’t have stayed up for me.”
she shook her head “it’s alright. but yeah, silco let me off early and I wanted to surprise you.”
your shoulders sagged “I’m sorry. I assumed you’d come home late again so I decided to just go out with friends. had I known I would’ve waited so we can stay in and cuddle.”
despite your flattery words, the only thing that stuck to sevika was you implying she’d be late again. you didn’t mean it maliciously, there was no bitterness in your tone but instead there was just… acceptance. which frustrated her because people were right.
perhaps being at different stages in life does this. you needed a partner who you can home to and have fun with but instead you got her who’s always late, is already asleep when you probably want to stay up and have sex at night. she would force herself to push through just for you but she isn’t getting any younger and it shows.
maybe it’s because others have planted it in her head that you two are just far too different that’s why she’s overthinking like this, but it’s becoming more and more evident that they were right and if she doesn’t find a way to fix this, god knows before you start seeing the cracks and the dents as well.
and so in the following day she asked silco if she could cut off her usual hours at work to get back home early. at least for a few weeks and silco was shocked for a second because if there was anyone who’s extremely dedicated to their job, it’s her.
but it’s because of that he deliberates on the request “very well,” he answered “but if the matters are urgent I expect you to come in either way,”
well, it’s better than nothing, sevika thought. what matters is she’ll try to find some time to spend the following weeks with you and to hopefully regain the spark in your relationship.
not that she’s saying it’s lost but she’s scared it will. because if her days don’t consist of work, she’s either at the bar playing cards to blow off some steam, which isn’t exactly a productive way of spending one’s time.
unlike you, you have tons of friends who you go out with at clubs and sevika just doesn’t want to think about all the people you meet there, who are probably the same age as you, and have wanted to ask you out but you turned them down because of her.
meanwhile, she’s here and she can’t even keep you happy like how you deserve.
it eats her up alive that’s why as soon as she comes back from work a lot earlier than usual, she immediately engulfs you in a back hug when she sees you cooking in the kitchen.
you gasped, not expecting her “sev, you’re home.” you were surprised as you turned around “did something happen?”
she shook her head, smiling “no sweetheart, silco just let me off early again. plus I’ve been meaning to spend more time with my girl…”
you still weren’t used to the disruption of the routine, because she’s normally away at these hours, but you weren’t complaining.
and with that, you spent most of the evening cooking and catching up with each other. you didn’t miss the way sevika followed you around the house like a lost puppy when you started cleaning up to get ready for bed.
you raised an eyebrow when she wrapped her arms around your waist while you were washing the dishes, noticing how she’s awfully more needy than usual.
“baby, go rest. you just got back home from work.” you giggled and she just shook her head.
“I just want to spend more time with you. I feel like I haven’t been the best partner.”
that halted you in your tracks and you angled your head so you can face her “baby, what makes you think that?” your eyebrows were furrowed and she just held you tighter.
she lets out a breath, tired and awfully nervous about vocalizing her doubts. what if once she points it out you start seeing the red flags too? and then these affectionate gestures just won’t be enough? what then?
“I know with my job and the responsibilities I have, I haven’t been able to fulfill your needs. you have so much ahead of you and I’m always at work and I just don’t want to make it seem like I’m wasting your time.” she said and you just stood there, letting her words sink in.
“you’re young and you could be with someone whose head isn’t always stuck in a bunch of paperwork or is running around the lanes doing silco’s dirty work.” her jaw clenched and she starts to wonder if admitting to all of this was a good idea.
“I’m sorry, princess. I just don’t want to bore you by leaving you here at home all by yourself…”
you immediately swiveled around in her arms and took her face in your hands.
“sev, look at me.” you said, your voice stern “I could give less than two fucks about people my age. you think when I got into a relationship with you I didn’t know what I was signing myself up for? of course I did and I don’t regret any of it. I know you have responsibilities and I accepted all of your duties the moment you became mine.”
“I could never be bored of you, baby.” you told her, thumb caressing her cheek “you don’t treat me any differently because of my age so why should I? I love it that you’re so hard at work and that you provide for me. the fact my salary at jericho’s isn’t even enough to pay half of our rent but you don’t mind because you provide for us both, why would I find that boring? that’s fucking sexy.”
she couldn’t help but let out a snort “oh, so what you’re saying is that you’re staying with me because I’m basically your sugar mommy?”
you grinned “amongst other things,” you said before capturing her lips with your own.
the kiss was hot, heavy and slow as sevika gripped your hips and pulled you against her. pushing her knee up and sliding it across your thighs and she started rubbing against your clothed cunt, making you whimper.
“so you’re not bored of me? or mad?” she asked as she pulled away to look at you.
you rolled your eyes “you could be 23 or 75 for all I care and I still wouldn’t get bored of you.”
your finger drew circles around her chest as you fluttered your eyes up at her “plus you fuck me like you’re 23 anyway, so I don’t see why I would look for someone my age.”
she couldn’t help but laugh, swooping you up in her arms and you circled your legs around her waist as she walked you to your bedroom “god, you’re such a handful.” she said.
you smirked “but you love it.”
