You. Nuance now.
You can like shit that has problematic shit in it, without being a bad person. You don't have to give me a list of EVERY bad thing a piece of media you enjoy does, & why it's bad, but it DOES help to be mindful of that shit. You're allowed to enjoy your bad thing. You don't have to explain it or qualify it to anyone -- you know it's bad, we all know it's bad.
That said, if you watch something with bad shit, people will indeed judge you, or want you to not talk about your thing, or may even avoid you/block you for posting about it. While I know that feels bad, it's just a fact, bud. Those people don't directly want to hurt you, they just feel real strongly, & I think they're allowed to feel that, & I think they're allowed to act on that, to a certain point.
FURTHERMORE, there is a fucking line that you do not, do not, do NOT cross! Where that is will be different for most people, & fuzzy for all. For me, I can tolerate a lot of shit, but another person may not. I also think there is a definitive line you don't cross, which is media that is actively hurting somebody. I find it helpful to ask, "Is consuming this thing harmful? Can I hurt somebody this way?" I.E. you buy the queen terf antisemitism & transphobia game, beaming money DIRECTLY into the queen terf 's bank account, which sh has publicly, VERBALLY said she treats as a person accepting her shit beliefs, & she will then use the money to lobby horrendous bills. You are not enjoying garbage, at this point. You are actively doing something wrong, & you fucking know it, & I don't have the time nor the desire to waste another single goddam breath on telling you that any further.
I am not saying that you are required to go invest in problematic things. I am not saying you need to see something you KNOW will upset you. I am saying you are allowed to keep a list of media that you will never, ever touch, that you hate enough that you will not even talk to somebody about it. I am saying you can block a person over liking a piece of shit media you fucking hate. I am saying you can have a list of things that bug you so badly, that you immediately drop something just for having it, & you don't have to qualify anything on that list to me, or explain why -- you can just avoid that thing -- that's just fine. I am saying you can like something with bad shit in it, & I promise you do NOT need to give me a 5k words essay on why it's bad -- this isn't school, you're not getting Oops I Like Something Bad 😞😔 homework.
I am saying you are human. You are meat & bone, with a bit of electricity running through it. You are fallable. You are allowed to like something that isn't good. You do not have to be forever pure, forever flawless marble, because you are not made of stone, & even if you were, marble is worn down & away, with time. Nothing is infallible or perfect, in this world, & that's nice, actually.
I'm also saying, what a fucking miserable way to go through life, seeing everything that is not perfectly pristine as a sin, as a crime, as something that even an association with makes you guilty. There's so many things to see, to read, to watch, to share, & you're being FUCKING CATHOLIC ABOUT IT??? DO I NEED TO REPENT?? FOR LIKING SOMETHING NOT 10000% CLEAN?? SHOULD I PAY MY FUCKING TITHES OR JUST GET THE LASHES. GRABS YOU. MAIMS.

DWTS24: WEEK 5 (LO RECAPS)
*appears from a cloud of pixie dust*
It’s Disney Week, motherfuckers. Prepare to be swept away and have magic shoved so far up your ass you can taste it.
This recap starts right now.
 OPENING NUMBER:
Aw. I smiled so big watching this. Even my stone cold heart melted a little. Always love Alfonso Ribero (he could replace Carrie Ann at the judge’s table IMO) and while the song was kind of cheesy and annoying, I loved the routine. We don’t get group dances anymore and this felt like a little bit of one, with each celeb getting their two seconds to be introduced and then the entire cast together at the end. Lots of smiles all around. I dig it.
*It should probably also be noted before I start this recap/review that I watched the package for maybe three of these and didn’t watch any of the judges’ comments because I don’t give a fuck. Kthxbye. #YouTried
RASHAD AND EMMA: FOXTROT (BEAUTY AND THE BEAST) 7898=32/40.
Cute. Nice. Not his best but far from shitty. A little blah. I know a lot of people were upset about the 7, but it’s Carrie Ann. She’s nuts and has needed to be replaced for years. Quit acting so surprised when she pisses you off. Anyway, Rashad was a tinge awkward in places, but overall looked pretty solid. It didn’t blow me away though. For the huge deal about the new B&B movie I sort of expected the show to make more of a big deal about this, but whatever.
NICK AND PETA: JAZZ (PINOCHIO) 9898=34/40.
Somewhere, Charlie White is sobbing at the memory of his Mary Poppins prop debacle. Cudos to Nick for not having any mishaps. The routine was tough- Peta didn’t hold back because holy shit some of that was quick. He stayed on it for the most part. The song was annoying but overall he did well. I would lower the 9s though.
ERIKA AND GLEB: VIENESSE WALTZ (FINDING DORY) 8888=32/40.
Really? They couldn’t even give her a blue dress or something? This was one of the many that I didn’t see the package, so if it was explained there feel free to fill me in. But keeping that in mind, I didn’t understand the lack of theme whatsoever. Aside from that? She did awesome. Erika is easily one of the best Housewives we’ve had on the show and I’m pissed she got eliminated this early when she’s technically far better than several of the others left. I’ve heard several people frequently refer to her as inappropriate but I respectfully disagree. She’s a sexual person and she owns it, but they’ve never gone over the top. Erika didn’t deserve to go and I’ll miss her on the floor.
HEATHER AND *MAKS: JAZZ (FROZEN) 8899=34/40.
I say it every week. I know it gets repetitive, but it’s the truth: she looks like a pro. The more weeks that pass the less confident I feel they’ll give her the win she deserves, but damn it she is hands down the best one out there. I’m honestly just so happy to see her dance again. “Can you show us a video demonstrating how this lift should look?” “No, I made it up.” And cut to Heather and Alan’s WTF faces. xD I adore them- all three of them. The scores are shit. The end.
BONNER AND SHARNA: TANGO (WRECK IT RALPH) 7878=30/40.
Lord almighty. Two eights were generous. Did anyone else notice his face didn’t change the entire time? Literally it was like it was made of stone. Also a belated shoutout to JT from SYTYCD Junior or whatever the season was called- that kid is beyond cute and should be giving Bonner lessons tbh. At this point as much as I love Sharna, I’m over it. You could see her shouting out the steps through the entire number. He needs to go.
NORMANI AND VAL: PASO (MULAN) 1091010=39/40.
Love love love love love. It was intense, it was powerful, and she was on FIRE. She kept up with Val the entire time and it felt fresh. I loved the choreo, I loved their costumes, I loved the props. And Donny Osmond is always fun to see, plus he nailed the vocals. The score was deserved. She killed it.
DAVID AND LINDSAY: JIVE (CARS 3) 7877=29/40.
Oh goodness. Well, it was about as good as I expected. He kept up with the footwork for the most part, but any attempt at crisp and sharp was ran over. I haven’t even seen the first Cars and after this routine I have no desire to, but David and Lindsay had fun and that made me smile. His days are numbered though.
NANCY AND ARTEM: JAZZ (ENCHANTED) 9999=36/40.
SO CUTE. SO FUN. She was smiling and relaxed and the whole thing was adorable and wonderful and damn near ruined because of the shitty singing. GO HOME, SINGERS. TAKE A SEAT WITH BROOKE BURKE AND ACCEPT THAT NOBODY WANTS YOU HERE. But great job to Nancy. I loved it.
SIMONE AND SASHA: CONTEMPORARY (MOANA) 991010=38/40.
Get out your pitchforks kids, because I’m about to start some shit. It was actually… a little disappointing? I’m sorry. I loved the live performance, I loved the song, I loved the costumes, and I loved the concept. But what really took control of the entire performance was the fact that it looked like Simone was trying way too hard. Her face didn’t change through a good portion of the dance and you could practically see the wheels turning in her head, analyzing every detail and trying to perfect every technicality. She did great and looked amazing and some of those tricks were absolutely mind boggling, but I need her to loosen up. ~le shrug. Sorry not sorry.
That’s me. Those are my thoughts. Talk to me and we can debate or argue. I love both.
Social media. I have it. @lauthom93 Come see pics of my puppy on IG. He bites me a lot.
Adios kids.
-Lo.
