the tower / the foundation

ive been working on some sort of tarot card based ttrpg where the major arcana are dragons you can battle with ! itll likely be awhile before i have anything to show for it but hey im having fun.

each card has an upright and reverse side, where the reverse side is the flip side of the card.

the tower has hollow scales of a matierial that as they move and their scales rub against each other, it generates static electricity which is their main form of defence. if you remember that old post about my imaginary dragons as a kid, this is one of them !

the foundation began as a parasite that attached to armored organisms like snails and crabs and drilled through their shell to suck their blood and grow kind of like a chiton. once they grow big enough, they kill their host and enter a free-living state where they search for a new host to infect.

a population in an environment with an increasing sparsity of suitable hosts began parasitizing other members of the same species. being immune to the toxin that kills their host to eat before entering their next life stage, hosts survived, and over generations evolved to support their young.

ancestral forms could reproduce asexually or sexually via fertilization after implantation on a host, and modern dragons fertilize the spawn that are implanted on them. as they are hermaphroditic, mating pairs duel in effort to lay eggs on eachothers armor while escaping getting eggs themselves.
