What did you think of kataras character arc if you exclude all the shipping wars?

I think it's pretty good, and I like her character a lot. I'd say she was the best written female character, and one of the best written characters in general, and that's despite her not being my favorite on either category.

There were a few issues/inconsistencies, namely her going from not being as good as Aang at waterbending then suddenly she's a master, or her stealing from the pirates yet getting on Toph's case for "cheating a cheater", but overall I'd say the show handled her well.

I like that they allowed her to be one the kindest characters, yet don't shy away from making her assertive, proud, strong-willed, stubborn and even mean sometimes (because children be like that) and that is so satisfying to watch, especially compared to bullshit like the Netflix version that is fucking TERRIFIED of giving the characters any flaws, to the point of stripping them of any agency or emotion.

Even her being both a fighter AND a healer ties into that duality. If you mess with her, you're fucked. But if you're nice to her, she'll be nice to you. And if you're in trouble, even if you're are a stranger, she'll help you because she can't wrap her head around the notion of just letting an innocent suffer. And as a bonus she commits ecoterrorism and helps deliver babies. Girly can do anything! How could anyone NOT love her?

We see her compassion ties in with her morals and convictions in MANY episodes (Imprisoned, Jet, The Avatar State, Crossroads of Destiny, The Painted Lady, The Puppet Master, The Southern Raiders, etc) as a result it feels like we really KNOW Katara, to the point that it's super easy for me to forget that she's a character because she's just that believable. I don't see a list of traits or just necessary actions that move the plot forward, I just see Katara being Katara, reacting to and influencing the world around around her.

As for her arc, like I said, I do think it was strange how she went from struggling to do some basic stuff to being able to hold her on in a fight against Pakku so fast, but once the show settled on "This girl be strong as fuck" they made damn sure we didn't forget it and they were smart to tie that in with her being a super inspirational figure (and to also have continue to learn new things even after being considered fit to be the Avatar's official teacher, so it made that incosistency a bit less distracting).

Pakku calls her master and Aang calls her sifu, we see her doing lots of cool moves in fights, and she's powerful enough that Hama's bloodbending doesn't work on her, she literally held up the rain and parted the seas and, oh yeah, she brought the Avatar back to life. No fucking wonder the messiah of this story took one look at her, fell in love immediately, and said the SHE gives HIM hope. It IS pretty difficult to give into despair when you're friend is that awesome, and goddamn, it'd be hard not to simp.

I also love that the show lets her be smart with HOW she uses her powers. Even in the second episode, when she's struggling with her bending and accidentally freezes Sokka instead of their enemies, she's smart enough to think "I just have to do the exact same motion, but to the other direction", she can work with her mistakes. She uses her waterbending to lift up a piece of the floor to defend herself from Mai's knives. She even uses her own sweat as a source of water before meeting Hama and being made to think of "Oh yeah, nearly EVERYTHING has water." Her last battle move in the show even was a mirror to her struggling to freeze her enemies at the start of the series, with her luring Azula to the right spot to freeze them both, unfreeze herself and slowly chain her, showing us how using her powers effortlessly has become second nature to her.

But THE episode that shows us the key role Katara plays in the story is "The Desert." Appa is gone and can't fly them away, Aang is too emotionally distraught by Appa's kidnaping to be of any help, Sokka is high as fuck, Toph can't "see" or use her bending as much because she still struggles to use sand the way she uses Earth, and we know for a fact that Momo doesn't understand a damn thing that's going on. The responsibiliy of keeping everyone together and then getting them out of there fell entirely on her shoulders for that episode, and she handled it like a pro. And at the end, when Aang is going nuts with grief, Katara is the only one not cowering before his power and can bring him back to earth with just one look.

The show could never work without her. The creators even said she's the heart of the story. That's why her voice is the first one we hear in every episode. She introduces the audience to this world and is the one to welcome us back each time. We learn her backstory before we even see Aang, that's how central she is to the plot.

And just like her introduction was handled perfectly, her send off was the same. She is reunited with her dad, who is very proud of her and knows her mom would feel the same way. She has helped save the world, and now she can finally be a kid again. She is free from the war. Free to go home with her family, travel with her friends every now and again for FUN instead of on a mission.

And yes, she's in a relationship now, with the guy she has clearly been in love with for a while. That romance IS one part of her arc and I celebrate it because there's nothing wrong with wanting love. I was cool with it even back when I didn't care for Kataang as a ship and didn't think it'd last - because I already cared about Katara and had seen the literal YEARS of foreshadowing, set up and development for it.

That's why I don't mind it when people ship her with her someone else - but get furious when Zutara shippers claim ALL OF THAT doesn't really count as her being treated with respect, both in universe and by the writers, because she didn't up marrying Zuko and becoming his girlfriend and future wife. Like it was all for nothing unless she kisses an emo boy and/or end up being a ruler, despite never having any interest in ruling anything. Like Katara's character and arc, all that she is, all that she overcame, accomplished and was rewarded with is irrelevant if the romance is not with the "right" guy. ONE part of her arc not being what they would have preferred RUINS her for people COMPLETELY.

And they have the nerve to call themselves "the REAL Katara fans"? What a joke. They can ship whatever they want, but they better put some respect on her name.

Alex crying is definitely something that happens really rarely, but when it does it surprises her as much as it surprises Casey. It's a weird moment- Alex comes home, feeling guilty as hell for something that happened during the workday, and Casey comes over to cook for her in her apartment like they do sometimes and she turns around to ask how much seasoning Alex wants her to use or something stupid and domestic like that and realizes Alex is just staring at her blankly with tears streaming down her face.

But Casey has a lot of family members, younger ones too, so although someone as esteemed as Alex crying catches her totally off guard she's used to comforting people- large family reunions always end in fights, growing up with siblings means sharing their hardships, that kind of thing- so she just turns the stove off so nothing burns, pours Alex a glass of water, and then sits next to her and tentatively asks Alex what she'd like her to do-

Alex turns and just pulls Casey into her, burying her face in the crook of Casey's neck, and just focused on the feeling of Casey rubbing little circles in her back while her tears get soaked up by the redhead's shirt.

Alex crying always starts and proceeds like this- completely wordlessly. She doesn't have much facial expression when she cries, her face just solidifies into a mask other than her eyes getting puffy and tears streaming down her cheeks. Internally, Casey is freaking the fuck out but knows better than to let her shock be evident in anything that she does.

I imagine proceeding would be difficult for Alex- figuring out the appropriate time to stop crying, how to act after she stops crying, that sort of thing, so a lot of the time it ends with Casey just taking Alex to bed and tucking her in (or getting in with her, spooning) and Alex is mostly fine by the time she wakes up.

Casey is a lot more reactive, but she can also tell when she's overwhelmed and knows she's prone to crying, so she'll just try to hide at first. Alex knows she had a rough day at work so she's assuming she'll come over, but she doesn't, and then eventually at some point she gets concerned and checks Casey's location on Life360- Casey's still at the office, and it's nearly eleven, and there's no way she's actually still working. Alex tries to call her and the call is declined after the second ring, which means Casey does still have her phone on her, it's not like she left it in the office- Alex gets in the car with after a little bit of nervous fumbling and hesitation and drives over.

Casey crying is a lot more verbal, not at first but if she's actually sobbing she's talkative, which really freaks Alex out, and she's more inexperienced with dealing with people crying to her. She tries to use her prosecutor skills, because victims and such have cried to her before and she knows how to deal with that to some extent, but Casey crying isn't like that because Alex starts to feel upset by it too, Casey's emotions are almost infectious to her- which is nice when Casey's laughing, but when she's crying it hurts Alex's soul.

At first, Casey cries silently, albeit a little frustrated, rubbing her eyes a lot and sniffling, and if she actually breaks into a more dramatic stage of crying it's quiet for the first couple minutes and then she just starts rambling. Like really, just blurting out whatever words are forming in her head. If it's depressed crying there's self loathing mixed in and if it's angry crying there's a lot of swear words- which is another different between them, because Alex crying is always just out of sheer overwhelmedness, so there's not really much variation in the way she cries, but Casey cries out of different emotions and has altered states due to what emotion caused her to start to break down.

Alex doesn't know how to deal with crying people as I keep stating, so her version of comforting is mostly just trying to respond to all the nonsense Casey's garbling out, and then at some point distracting her with kisses, which Casey is fine with. It does effectively ground her, because it's hard to focus on whatever has you so overwhelmed when Alexandra fucking Cabot is kissing you on the nose and on the cheeks and on the lips if she's feeling a little bolder.

Unlike with Alex, after some degree of comfort Casey can self-soothe herself down the rest of the way, and then she'll explain what made her so upset and talk about how she's going to fix it. Alex thinks it's really admirable how Casey can go from weeping to ambitiously planning how to fix all the wrongs in the world. Casey feels like she's able to conquer everything that she feels so strongly about because she has her girlfriend by her side. It works out nicely.

• She'll use every drop of her mana to heal anyone in need. And if she runs out of spells, she use her medicine skill to help. After all, she's a healer cleric, and she can heal also without magic

• If she is tired, maybe she'll search for some quiet in her tend, or by the river. In silence, she can prey better

• She loves the moon, the stars and the water. These things remind her of her Mother Selúne. If there were a full Moon, or a beautiful night sky, she'll be up late to watch it and talk to her goddess. I immagine her watching in silence the moon, with a soft smile on her face, praying and telling Selúne how was her day and how she's scared of what is happening to her

• She loves reading and writing poetries and stories. When she was a young lady, she read a lot of romantic novels, and she grew up with this poetical idea of love, dreaming about the true love like a princess

(that idea has a name and his name is Gale)

• If there is someone in the camp who can't sleep, Athalia has some tricks and spells to help, as a Selúne Cleric. Everyone know this but they're always too embarrassed to ask

• Athalia has a lot of cute outfits for the camp, as a remind of her noble life. She loves the workmanship of good clothes, fine fabric, matching shoes.

And the color white and blue, she always dresses in those colors

• Athalia always tries to avoid confrontation. She tries to reason with his opponents, especially when he sees that behind their wickedness there is something else that can be repaired. The first thing she did with Kethric was to remind him of Selúne's love to make him see reason.

• Whenever they face sentient creatures such as mundane criminals or the Gith, Athalia makes sure not to kill them, using non-lethal strikes. Kindness which however does not apply to the slavers of the forge or to the cultists of the absolute and of Bhaal

• Even creatures such as goblins, gnolls or especially demons do not arouse enough pity in Athalia to try to avoid the battle. She never initiates it head-on, but if one of these creatures attacks first, she responds without feeling mercy

• in battle, Athalia takes care of the others, like a good cleric. She almost never attacks her enemies directly, but makes sure that everyone is well healed and has the right aid to fight.

• Due to past traumas, Athalia is always afraid of not doing enough. She lives in fear of seeing her companions fall, so she does everything she can to not leave them behind

• Sometimes she even starts out quite biased, casting "Magic Armor" or "Sanctuary" even against a single goblin

• After fights she always makes sure everyone is okay. When one of her companions falls in battle, her feelings of guilt are so high that before moving on, she makes sure that the latter has fully recovered

• She has a really complicated relationship with Shadowheart. Athalia also briefly heard Shar's call, and was corrupted by her darkness. In Shadowheart she sees herself, and is confident that sooner or later she will return to the right path. She never judged her, her religion or her way of behaving, but simply smiled at her and reminded her that no matter what, she was her friend and her ally.

A behavior that initially drove Shadowheart crazy, because she didn't understand how a Selunite could feel so much affection for her. In the end, however, Athalia's affection became fundamental to Shadowheart

• Karlach always puts Athalia in a good mood. Athalia is always very delicate, very attentive and cautious, while Karlach's adrenaline gives her the right push to launch herself and take courage where needed. Athalia and Karlach are very close friends and Athalia loves to talk to her in the evening before ending the day. Athalia would do anything to cure Karlach, and feels terribly helpless without finding a solution

• Wyll and Athalia are very close. They saw each other briefly as children, at parties and gala receptions of the nobility of Baldur's Gate. They have so many things in common, and they spend hours and hours talking together about their past and gossiping about their old acquaintances and their life in Baldurs Gate. Wyll was desperately in love with Athalia, but unfortunately she didn't fully reciprocate that feeling. Wyll reminds her of her past life, a life that she wants to put behind her and forget, just like Wyll, and she knows that this relationship would not be good for either of them.

On the evening where they dance together in the camp, Athalia turns her face and denies him that kiss, breaking his heart. Wyll silently respects Athalia's relationship with Gale. Despite this, the two of them will remain great friends, with a lot of understanding and affection for each other.

• Athalia is actually very fascinated by Lae'Zel. Together they spent entire nights talking about the life of Lae'Zel and the culture of the Gith. Athalia loves reading history books, and had never heard these tales of Lae'Zel culture. Athalia hopes that she will become more "kind" and tries to make her understand without offending her, inviting her to be less grumpy. Lae'Zel sees Athalia as a puppy and does everything she can to protect her

• Athalia feels a great sense of protection towards Astarion. Try to make him feel important every day, to show him that he can be a better person, but without ever forcing him or being burdensome. Sometimes even just holding his hand, without saying anything

Notes: YES! I don't know why I like writing about drunk characters so much... maybe that's a little worrying... But this turned out so cute and honeyed, I really hope you like it, good reading!

"A Good Reason to be Drunk" - Oneshot.

There was no shortage of warnings about how difficult the journey of becoming a jonin is, and indeed it is, but you were aware of this when you decided to become one. What you weren't aware of was that the person who would train you until you had experience was a big slacker who would leave all the work to you.

You heard a lot about Kakashi, the ninja who copies, while you was studying and training to become a jonin. But what you were never told was that he was late for every appointment, procrastinated on mission paperwork, slept whenever he could and left all the hard work to his teammate. You couldn't deny that he was indeed very skilled during fights, but his behavior didn't make up for it.

And here you were, sitting on a sofa in a bar, drinking sake with your already drunk colleague beside you, leaning on your shoulder and smiling idly. Kakashi irritated you very easily and sometimes you didn't even know why.

But at the same time, he had already saved you so many times during fights, intervening when you believed that all was lost, he taught you so many things that weren't in the books, he compensated you for the hokage's scoldings, taking the blame for any mistake in the mission ... In the end you were a good pair, it was just his lazy side that got on your nerves sometimes. Actually, come to think of it, it was even an honor to train with a ninja like him, you just didn't want to admit it.

After all, in addition to the reputation of being a very skilled ninja, he also had the reputation of being a "stealer of hearts", there weren't a few women who said they were in love with him, maybe you were just wanting to focus on some of his defects so as not to let yourself be carried away by the charm too. You hesitated, not knowing how to proceed, were you imagining or was Kakashi asking you for love advice? He must have been very drunk.

- I don't know, ask her out - you tried to get away from him a little, the heat of the drink starting to take effect.

- I already did that - he settled down on the sofa, stopping leaning on you, resting his head on his hand, his elbow on his knee, the white hair falling over his face, he looked at you between the strands - I don't think it worked.

- So I don't know, ask her directly if you did something, maybe she'll tell you - you got impatient.

- No, y/n is too stubborn to admit anything! - he frowned, irritated by the suggestion and shaking his head to dismiss the idea.

You stopped whatever you were doing, now just staring at him with wide eyes in shock. No, you're drunk too, not as drunk as he is, but the drinking must be making you hear things, make things up, there was no way Kakashi was in love with you.

- Who? - your voice threatened to break, still surprised by the revelation.

- What? - he asked looking for a glass that was still full.

- The girl you're in love with, who is it? - he turned his head to you.

- I can't tell - he said, with the most serious look a drunken man can muster.

And just now, unfortunately, what was left of sobriety in him decided to show up, you would have to manipulate him into giving you the answer without realizing it.

- But how can I help you like this? Tell me at least a little about her.

Kakashi took a deep breath and leaned back on the sofa, he had found a glass that was half full, he was staring at the ceiling but seemed to see through it, far beyond what you could see.

- She is beautiful, very beautiful... She makes me laugh with her stressed way, she always gets angry so easily - he laughs - She likes to look at the stars and listen to music... Her laugh is contagious... And I see myself more and more in love with her... - he was silent for a long time, you even thought he had finished talking -... I need to tell her, I can't even sleep wellI, lose the time and I'm late every day, and she always fights with me because of that - he laughs softly.

Kakashi was so peaceful as he described you, he had a passionate look on his face, fascinated by his beloved, as if just remembering her brought him peace. But at the same time, you could feel his heart sink when he spoke because he thought his beloved despised him, because he was afraid of rejection, because he loved too much.

- I don't want her to hate me... I love her so much - tears started to well up in his eyes - I just wanted her to know that, but I can't even tell her - the tears fell amid sobs, his eyes got low.

You felt helpless not knowing exactly what you should do or say, so you decided to focus first on his problem with being drunk - as if you weren't. Assuming the role of responsible for the situation you got up, took the cup from his hand while he was crying, tried to wipe his tears and got him up saying "it's going to be okay, Kakashi" because it was the best your head could think of and took him outside from the bar after paying for the round.

Now you had a drunk and crying Kakashi on your shoulder being carried all the way home. It was better not to complain, as you could only end up making the situation worse, besides, you thought that part of it was kind of your fault, like, it was you who decided to be rude on purpose to the guy who was in love with you (even though before you didn't know that). Before you could think about it, you entered Kakashi's apartment and put him to bed, which didn't take much effort since he was practically asleep on his feet.

- I love you, y/n - he whispered with his eyes closed, you don't know if it's for you or some vision of his dream.

- And I don't really hate you Kakashi, it's just easier than admitting that I like you too - you spoke low so as not to wake him up, arranging the blanket, not bothering to say it since he wouldn't remember.

Kakashi opened his eyes slowly, a smile forming on his face, looking directly at you with a twinkle in his eyes like a shooting star in the night.

- I knew there was an explanation for all this anger - he said, his voice without any hint of drunkenness anymore - And I also knew that you would never admit it.

It took you a moment to process his speech, Hatake could see the gears turning inside your head as you was transfixed staring at him. When your gaze lit up, understanding what he had done, he started to chuckle at your expression.

- Were you pretending this whole time?!! - you took a step back, crossing your arms, indignation written on your face.

- Yes and no - he sat on the bed, still with the smile on his face - I did pretend to be drunk to get to know if you felt something for me, something besides anger, of course. But I didn't lie when I said I was in love with you, when I said that I stay up all night thinking about how to confess to you.

A silence hovered between you, he had already finished and now he was waiting for your answer, you on the other hand didn't know where to start, all you wanted to say getting stuck in your throat, needing a moment to organize everything.

- You took advantage of my kindness - you don't know why your mind chose to start with that one.

- For a good cause.

- Tricked me.

- Because you're stubborn and would never give me an answer, just like you're not giving now.

- And what answer are you waiting for?!

- That you tell me if you accept to be my girlfriend or not! - he said as if it were obvious.

The silence from before returned, you staring at each other again, your cheeks more flushed this time and his also slightly flushed. Even though he tried to keep a calm, carefree look on his face, Kakashi was internally begging for your answer to be yes, so that he could show the love he's had for you for so long, so that he could touch you the way he wanted, so that he could kiss you. You wanted to let Kakashi love you, you wanted to tell him that you loved him too, and you couldn't understand why you felt that this was a sign of frankness. But with a deep sigh, trying to silence this insistent thought, you looked at him and smiled.

- Of course I do, you idiot!

His smile widened, his cheeks now as flushed as your own with pure happiness.

- I guess I'm the luckiest man in this village now.

He gets up to hug you and can finally kiss his beloved, wrapping his arms around you. Kakashi wouldn't allow there to be a single day when you didn't feel loved after that.

Phee will ALWAYS pull up to the Mcdonalds, especially when Omega's with her. Then Omega always holds it over Hunter- "Well, PHEE takes ME to Mcdonalds!"

Tay is the definition of a bastard (no seriously)

Phee is bastard (affectionate) but would technically be more of "Badass" than anything

Khea, Crosshair, and Tech are the Bitch Trio and if you put them in a room together they WILL tear each other apart (emotionally most likely but Tech will goad Crosshair and Khea into physically fighting each other while he records)

If Phee told Tech she loved him and he went "a horrible decision, really" she'd probably laugh

And of course, who doesn't love Phee? If you don't, get out of here.

Crosshair could care less, he ain't dealing with that shit

Tech would say this ominously as if he's seen the future and knows your death is imminent meanwhile Khea's is more of a - "you probably will because everyone close to me has already died" sort of way :/

Hunter, Viram, and Echo don't want to deal with that shit either, they've already got so much loss, guilt, and other things on their plate

Tay's probably not listening when someone tells him they'd die for him while Phee's like, "Oh, neat. Anyways, as I was saying about my last adventure-"

Jung is ready and willing to put his life on the line and Wrecker would probably more like a "Nu uh" because he's got your back and would look out for you

Phee will also do it for some credits or a cool treasure

Tay is going to fight god (and he's going to lose)

Tech could do so much more than take down the government, but he needs incentives (him and Phee can take down the government together <3)

Khea is a bounty hunter, her job literally requires her to stab people sometimes in order for her to get money

Crosshair would stab without anyone needing to ask him

Echo's taking down the government no matter what, but especially if Rex asks him to come along

Jung is going to fight god if you ask them to (and he'll win)

Viram is the type of friend who is an excellent tutor and you end up understanding the concept after getting her help meanwhile Omega will explain what she knows and then the homework becomes a group project of figuring out what the fuck it's asking

You can copy Hunter's homework but there is no guarantee that the answers are right (most of them are wrong)

You can copy Jung's homework and there's a high chance the answers are right

Khea had better things to do than homework - like get frustrated over it and cry for a bit before giving up on it

Phee did some of the homework but she'll only help you out if you give her something in exchange

Wrecker and Tay, beloved himbos, they had no idea and even if they did do the homework, you wouldn't want to copy off of them

Crosshair also didn't do the homework but he also doesn't want to respond

Tech and Echo both did the homework and it's correct but they don't tolerate copying work to even have suggested it is offensive so now you're left on read

Being Sayaka Miki's crush and friend in one sometimes made your relationship difficult, especially since she had a crush on Kyosuke Kamijo at the same time. Add the concept of Magical Girls into the bunch and you get a gal with an existential crisis. You were exposed to Kyubey soon after her luckily, so she wasn't alone on this journey.

She's always ready to throw herself in front of you. She wouldn't dare be responsible for her companion's injuries.

Matching items? YES PLEASE! She'll use them as lucky charms.

She's typically tired after every fight, so if it's just the two of you, she's not afraid to suggest heading home for some shut eye. She'd definitely be happy if you'd come with her, though.

She's not a very possessive friend, so there's little bad blood between you two, Madoka Kaname, and Mami Tomoe. There is, however, some tension between her and Kyoko regarding you. Like Madoka, you were trapped watching the fight between them. Madoka warmed up to Kyoko as a teammate quite fast, but not so much for you since Kyoko threatened the livelihood of your dearest friend. You still didn't forgive her, and Sayaka didn't forgive her for putting you in danger (and the risk of a future without her).

When Sayaka found out Hitomi Shizuki wanted to confess to Kyosuke, she was devastated and ran to you straight away. You comforted her as best as you could and reassured that even though Kyosuke wasn't aware that the wish she made revived his ability to play music, he'd still have feelings for her.

You strongly encouraged her to confess since Hitomi had given her a head start, but for whatever reason, Sayaka didn't feel prepared. She had too much on her mind to think of an action plan: magical girls, that strange Homura girl that kept approaching Madoka, Kyosuke's recent cold treatment towards her, you....

And then it was too late. Despite your reassurance, Hitomi and Kyosuke became a couple.

Sayaka's soul gem clouded considerably over the next few days. You didn't have to see her to know. She had given you the cold shoulder once the news broke, but you rushed to find her once your calls kept reaching voicemail.

"That's right. If I want, why do I need to feel pain anymore?!" Sayaka cried as she violently stabbed a witch over and over. "It's pointless--!"

"Sayaka-chan!"

She stopped in a heartbeat, only having the time to peer at you for a second before you swooped her away. You set her down on the ground while Kyoko and Madoka finished the job.

"Pull out your soul gem right now!" you demanded. Not one to disobey you, she did so. You blanched at the color. "You shouldn't have left without me....; How dare you go witch-hunting in this state!"

She gazed down at her lap. "I'm sorry..."

"Heads up!"

You caught the grief seed Kyoko threw at you just in time. Sayaka didn't move as you purified her soul gem. Once done, you lifted the girl up on your shoulders, bid the others farewell, and took her home. You tended to her as if she were sick with the serious flu. Luckily, your parents were all friends, so they weren't suspicious at all about a weekend sleepover.

As days passed and the two of you needing to return to school, Sayaka grew dependent on your presence. It was easy for others to tell something had soured Sayaka's mood, but you didn't let them get far with their questions.

Hitomi apologized on the third day, and you were relieved that Sayaka had taken it surprisingly well. Kyosuke approached you two a few days later in an attempt to apologize, but one nasty look from you was all it took for him to realize his cold treatment wasn't taken easily. Why would it be? Despite Sayaka visiting his hospital room so often and attempting to cheer him up, he hadn't even bothered to message her that he'd been released from the hospital!

At some point, Sayaka had tossed aside the thought of him being yours and placed you in that position. She realized that you knew her more than he did, had experienced more with her than he did, and even treated her better than he did.

This time, she confessed straight away. You accepted her cheerily.

Your relationship is known only to close friends--Mami Tomoe, Madoka Kaname, and Kyoko Sakura. Homura easily found out, though.

If you thought she was overprotective then, she's even more so now. Despite that, she knows you're quite capable and cheers you on as you fight.

Now that she's genuinely happy, she is on polite terms with Kyosuke, and you are too (although you still harbor a grudge against him). He's admitted to you privately it feels like his friendship with Sayaka had changed considerably, but you guessed that's just what ended up happening.

Dates are primarily doing something on top of napping/resting at home. After all, going to school and being a Magical Girl was no easy feat.

Extra Notes:

Love Languages: Isabella has never been in a relationship for, never even had a crush on anyone before, so she doesn't really have a specific love language that she gives. Naturally her giving and receiving love language would be touch and time, but it's not difficult for her to provide the others if she feels her partner has a need for preference for them. She's also not used to receiving to receiving gifts or affirmations, so it's very easy for Lucanis to fluster her with these. Lucanis is not big on affirmations. It's not that he doesn't give them ever, it's just a main language of his. He believes actions always speak louder than words.

Sleep in: It's more Isabella is likely to go to bed late. Like it's practically morning late, as she tends to get distracted and lose track of time easily. She'll finally crawl into bed at 4 or 5 in the morning and sleep a few hours before getting up a little later than everyone else, but not too long. Only gets slightly more sleep than Lucanis.

Burn Dinner: Isabella isn't a bad cook per se, at least not like Harding (sorry Harding, nothing person but those poor potatoes...) but nobody really taught her how to cook, so she spent a lot of years eating purely for survival and not enjoyment. Lots of raw salads and unseasoned soups (she boiled a bunch of vegetables in a pot with just water and called it dinner, it was sufficient). Lucanis was baffled having to teach her about seasoning when she asked why his food tasted so amazing, and he taught her the joys of good food.

Hog the bed: Okay it's not necessarily that she hogs the bed, just that they both tend to cuddle closely a lot of the bed doesn't even get used. She used to sleep like the dead, literally, on her back with her arms folded across her chest. She didn't even know she did it until Harding asked about it. When she starts sleeping in the same bed as Lucanis though her body with seek him out, roll completely across the mattress until she can pull him against her. He's even caught her sleep walking a couple times to find him when he got up early to prep breakfast. He'd have to continue while she held him and leaned against his back or he'd have to give up on breakfast and walk her back to bed and lay with her until she settled back down.

Start a fight: Neither one is likely to start a fight with each other, even if a disagreement or argument started to form between them they're very quick to work it out between them. After spending so much time with Varric and other big personalities in the veilguard though, Issy is more likely to cause a scene just out of principle, most likely defending someone, while Lucanis would either stay out of others problems or deal with things more quietly. Alas, he is there to help clean up her messes.

Blanket fort: Okay this one feels self explanatory enough but just throwing it out there that Issy also didn't get much of a childhood, but she doesn't have the trauma associated to it like Lucanis. So she's definitely doing all kinds of silly things like this to appease an inner child she didn't even realize was there, and encourages Lucanis to join her shenanigans, to loosen up and have fun together. It's quite healing for the both of them.

Read conspiracies: Issy seriously never read a fiction book until she was 28 and started travelling with Varric. Until then every book she read was non-fiction, text books, theories and journals. She spent her life just studying and didn't even realize how fun fiction could be until she got her hands on Hard in Hightown. So Lucanis is definitely the most likely to read conspiracies, but he doesn't really believe in them. Kind of like how he enjoys romance novels, sometimes he is amused with the absurdity of what he's reading and simply finds them entertaining now and then.

HYDRA is irritated. Wiping the Asset's mind is becoming tedious. They need a killing machine, with some level of cognitive function, not a mindless fool incapable of executing simple missions. Slowly but surely, the Asset's memories come back - each time quicker than the last. They are desperate. Perhaps, there is another way to make him behave. Their plan? Give him what he desires. Rants from a tired writer 3: Love Triangles

The Love Triangle; love it, hate it, it doesn't matter because we all know about it, and that's what we're talking about today! I'm personally on the hate it team and deem it as the worst trope ever created, and a legitimate reason to drop a piece of media that uses it (personal preference)

The main issues I've seen people bring up when discussing this trope are the following:

It's overdone and repetitive

The lack of agency from the "main girl" is grating at best, blood boilingly infuriating at worst.

It's very often the only source of tension that keeps the plot moving forward when the creator's favourite is SO obvious.

And one of my main reasons: Love triangles are not really love triangles but more like a love V. A real love triangle would be gay and/or polyamorous in order to be a real triangle.

Our brains like familiarity and tropes in media because it's easily digestible. I was a 2017 gacha kid who watched any hated child videos I could get my hands on; believe me, I understand! However, that repetition and predictability can feel annoying after a while when you can't ignore the problems that those copy pasted stories all have in common.

Times change and we start to notice that the girl backed into the top corner of this love triangle doesn't really make choices for herself as the narrative shoves her into the arms of the two guys fighting over her. We can easily get bored from the lack of any real tension outside of this mind numbing mating ritual that takes up the entire friggin plot when you already know who's going to "win" in the end!

Times change once again and we start writing love triangles differently, with a man and a woman having feelings for the same man. More often than not, that girl will be in the way of the perfect gay relationship just waiting to happen, and she'll be depicted as mean, shallow, even homophobic sometimes so our hatred towards her feels justified (bonus point if she's in an arranged marriage with the MC's love interest). Down to its core, the love triangle is a tired misogynistic trope, but it doesn't mean it can't be saved.

Having the men in the love triangle genuinely respect the woman they're in love with is crucial, and she needs to be able to make her own choices as well. How are we supposed to root for the relationship otherwise? There's no need for the two guys to fight for the girl like she's something to be won; if one of them is genuinely being too pushy and overprotective (usually the childhood friend archetype), then make it into a character flaw that he grows out of.

Now what if that over protectiveness was born from well-intentioned ableism? You get A Sign Of Affection.

Oushi Ashioki and Yuki Itose are childhood friends; Yuki is profoundly deaf and Oushi is one of the rare few she can talk to with sign language. Years later as adults, Oushi has shown significant trouble getting used to the idea that Yuki has changed and wants to be more independent now. He is used to speaking for her because he doesn't quite understand that Yuki being semi nonverbal doesn't mean that she doesn't have a voice and can't advocate for herself. Like most characters who fit the childhood friend archetype in a love triangle, Oushi became aware of his romantic feelings for Yuki too late, as she was already in a relationship with Itsuomi by then. Still, Oushi's ableism or disrespect towards Yuki, Itsuomi and their relationship as a whole makes it very difficult to care lol.

The whole gist of Yuki and Itsuomi's relationship is that they are polar opposites in every way; although we are only going to focus on one aspect: Itsuomi travels all the time and has seen a lot of the world by the time the story starts. Meanwhile, Yuki was very sheltered as a child and has a small social circle. The bar is in the fiery depths of hell but Itsuomi never isolates her; he knows how important her friends are to her considering she doesn't have a lot in the first place. He never once felt threatened by Oushi and doesn't try to end their friendship, on the contrary, he's even trying to befriend him. He has no reason to be jealous of Oushi because Yuki chose to date him out of her own free will, and he also trusts her decision to keep Oushi in her life as a friend. Now, as much as I still dislike Oushi, he did chill out in the manga and ended up supporting Yuki and Itsuomi's relationship because he cares about and trusts her (he still has a long way to go but that's a story for another day)

Wow, a story that features a girl in a love triangle actually having agency and the men around her respect her and trust her decisions? That's neat, but I still wish we could fix the misogyny problem with the gay version of the trope!

…Oh hello Imogen!

Ok, I have to admit I actually didn't like Imogen at first because of her comments towards Tara and Darcy, but boy am I a sucker for some good old character development!

Say what you want about Heartstopper (actually, don't, I don't want to hear from Heartstopper haters anymore lol), but Imogen is such a breath of fresh air amongst all the mlm love triangle stories where the straight girl who falls in love with one of the gay men ends up getting portrayed as evil or homophobic ("I'm not like, homophobic⚆_⚆… I'm an ally!(●'◡'●)") (ps: Yes, I know Imogen isn't straight lol)

In an interview Rhea Norwood even confirmed (more or less) that Imogen never had feelings for Nick and there's a chance she thought she did because he was the only guy in their friend group who didn't make her feel uncomfortable or push her boundaries, she just didn't realise that's what it was. Anyway, thank you Imogen for proving writers don't need to villainise women in order to write a queer love triangle.
