The Incredible Hulk (1968) #267
#I've previously been a bit frustrated with this arc for what I felt was a simplistic approach to the ethics of curing Bruce of the Hulk#this is the beginning of us getting a little more nuance as Rick recognizes that they are tricking the Hulk#all this talk about freeing Bruce from the Hulk and freeing the Hulk from Bruce#when really they’re trying to ‘free Bruce Banner all right- by bamfing the Hulk outta the picture!’#also the fact that Rick knows that this is going to hurt the Hulk and assumes that Betty does too but she’s actually forgotten#while Rick isn’t necessarily contradicting the idea that Bruce and the Hulk are one he is framing his participation as loyalty to Bruce#obviously Betty is more loyal to Bruce and less so to the Hulk too#but I like that idea that Rick has a bit more of an awareness of what they’re really doing#while Betty is more singlemindedly focused on Bruce and so isn't really thinking the other side of it through#not that I'd doubt she wouldn't still prioritize Bruce over the Hulk if she did#but I don't think she's consciously taking advantage of the Hulk's trust in her#I’m thinking of how in the 1996 Hulk cartoon when Bruce and the Hulk were briefly separated#she had always previously tried desperately to stop her father from going after the Hulk and convince him that he had misjudged the Hulk#and while she was aware that her father was still going after the Hulk she stayed focused on Bruce and just assumed the Hulk would be fine#she didn't say that she doesn’t care about the Hulk without Bruce as a part of him#but she really didn't care about the Hulk when Bruce wasn't a part of him#which makes sense for her considering her experiences#whereas Rick I think looking back on the very early days has been terrorized by the Hulk more directly than Betty has#but his life hasn't overall been as dominated as he's been off in other books doing things with other superheroes#and I think it makes sense for him to have more appreciation for the Hulk as a person#the issue after this parallels Rick's upbringing with the Hulk's life#marvel#bruce banner#rick jones#betty ross#my posts#comic panels

@gammaragee -> 🫦for Greer
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fireworks weren't her favorite thing in the world; they would have to rank on a list of things she didn't like. It's the sound, not the lights, that bothered her. Sensitive hearing, and maybe she's got an issue with any loud bangs and pops. Trauma which she's dealt with in therapy, but that didn't exactly stop the animal in her from raising hairs.
William's excited about that, and will be unless his own animal in him had it's issues. Holidays were fun, except when non-human instinct took over. She copes just fine with everything, had to if she was gonna be superhero but this wasn't fight to save the world kind of stuff. This was mundane in comparison (cheery bizarre human shit; the tiger in her complained).
Greer likes parties, holidays, festivities, and New Years was one of those big ones. Overstimulation always at a risk (its part of her that was cat folk that complained), but she's all cheer otherwise.
William barely made it to ten o'clock, they had been sitting themselves up on the roof. A little get together with some of her neighbors (the ones who were chill when say someone like Reese the vampire showed up) to watch the sky's activity for fireworks and watch the rest of the city streets go crazy with New Years.
The happiest appearance of the night was Bruce showing up, which she's sure was a surprise to her neighbors. Six foot four cat woman and a little non-assuming man (with a Hulk and other personalities inside) together. The sight of the night for her was the fact that William got sleepy and crashed on Bruce's lap at exactly 10:12 pm.
It has her laughing softly to herself, because her son was so determined that this year he was going to making it to midnight. There's a whisper into Bruce's ear that they can simply watch the ball drop on the TV channel from the couch and William could be put to bed. That is how they ended up cuddled up on the couch, around 11:58 pm, and she's running a finger up-down Bruce's arm.
It's slow movement, as she splits her focus between Bruce and the TV. She really doesn't care about a silly ball drop, but Greer's a girl of traditions. The new year, on the minute, should be ushered in with a kiss and it's been a long time since she's started a new year with someone special. Had any of her relationships made it to a new year or been good enough to last so long? She's really not going to track that.
It's pitiful, but this right here wasn't. Things weren't ever going to be perfect; which isn't what she ever asked for. However, with one minute counting down to the new year, it was perfect. She's proud as her hand draws upward to cup the jaw of her boyfriend as the countdown goes off on the TV; she presses kisses to his cheeks until THREE. TWO.
Her lips press to his, a loud purr in her throat. ❝ Happy New Year, tiger. ❞ Greer's going in for another kiss, pressing together for long before letting out a soft sight after before purring a laugh. ❝ William's gonna be upset he missed it. Let me change the clocks back a few minutes and rewind the tv. You go wake him tell him its almost midnight. A little deception never hurt any kid. ❞ If the fireworks going off, making her pelt stand high, hadn't woken him already.
Greer doesn't let him go quite yet, arms around his neck and she takes up his whole lap. ❝ Gonna hafta kiss me again when the ball drops a second time for Will. ❞

"What have you done with Agent Barton?"
"I would say I've expanded his mind."
"And once you're done, once you're King of the mountain, what happens to his mind?" You can see how tight her suit is by how stiffly she moves, poor girlie.
Ok this scene is a lot more interesting now that I've actually bothered to examine it? The "Is this love, Agent Romanoff?" "Love is for children. I owe him a debt." Exchange is so weirdly personal?
"Tell me."
"Before I worked for SHIELD, I...Well, I made a name for myself. I have a very specific skill set. I didn't care who I used it for, or on. I got on SHIELDs radar in a bad way. Agent Barton was sent to kill me. He made a different call." She actually tells him her backstory? Why the trust? I understand that she's interrogating him, but it's so weirdly intimate? They're both sitting with their shoulders bowed, they almost look like FRIENDS at a glance. But while Natasha glances down or into the middle distance, Loki is looking at her almost apprehensively.
Tumblr media
This is how he looks while Natasha is talking about her bond with Clint. His head is bowed but he's still watching her, and he's doing his nervous habit where he's fidgety with his hands, the same tic he shares with Frigga
"And what will you do if I vow to spare him?"
"Not let you out."
"No, but I like this. Your world in the balance, and you bargain for one man."
"Regimes fall every day. I tend not to weep over that, I'm Russian. Or I was."
"And what are you now?"
"It's really not that complicated. I got red in my ledger, I'd like to wipe it out." Now she's standing, arms folded, sort of closed off.
"Can you? Can you wipe out that much red?" GODDDD his FACE when he says this!!!!! This here is definitely a "you and me we're not so different" moment. "Dreykovs daughter. So Paulo, the hospital fire? Barton told me everything. Your ledger is dripping. It's gushing red." The way Natasha's face changes when he says Dreykovs name oughhhhh....
And when he says "and you think saving a man no more virtuous than yourself will change anything? This is the basest sentimentality. This is a child at prayer. Pathetic! You lie and kill in the service of liars and killers." HIS OWN REFLECTION GROWS CLEARER WITH HER FACE. Man, I miss this old Marvel dialogue, it feels almost SHAKESPEAREAN, today it feels insincere and uncharacteristically quippy. Lokis fierce confrontation with Natasha is as much a soliloquy as a monologue. "You pretend to be separate, to have your own code, something that makes up for the horrors. But they are part of you. And they will never go away.
"I won't touch Barton, not until I make him kill you. Slowly, intimately, in every way he knows you fear. And then he'll wake just long enough to see his good work, and when he screams I'll split his skull. This is my bargain, you mewling quim."
I don't think people realise how big of a switch this is. I cannot imagine Loki saying this over a year ago, in Thor 1. This isn't lashing out like a cornered animal (which we actually see him do in the first scene of this movie), this reads like a self-deprecating back-and-forth between two traumatized criminals about "is God real?" until he flips her over the coffee table without warning and starts tearing her eyes out. She's trying to bargain, or at least she appears to be, and he responds with a metaphorical bullet.
"You're a monster."
"Oh no. You brought the monster."
"So, Banner. That's your play."
"...what?" I think he's sincerely confused, because (hear me out) I don't think he was referring to the Hulk. I think he was talking about Thanos. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Vision says "our very strength invites challenge." And in the opening monologue, it's actually the awakening of the Tesseract that drew Thanos to earth. So the Hulk wasn't actually part of Lokis game. But if we do consider that Loki wasn't actually referring to the Hulk, then his "plan" to make Bruce go haywire would have been a spur-of-the-moment grab at opportunity. Or maybe something else, depending on whether the theory (the theory that Loki planned for the Avengers assembling, hoping they would defeat thanos) is sound.

Emily watches the "She Hulk" finale
I have mixed feelings. I didn't need the big dumb fight to happen but I did want more of an emotional resolution to what happened at the end of last episode. Some sort of catharsis even if it's not punching.
It seemed like Nikki (and Pug) cared more about solving that than Jen did.
I liked some of the fourth wall stuff and K.E.V.I.N. In general I think it is good for Marvel to be a little less self-serious. And I do think some fans are so almost worshipful of Kevin Feige that it becomes uncomfortable. So making fun of him, I am totally fine with.
But the VFX jokes fell flat considering how the crew complained about what Marvel is putting them through. I would've cut that. Couldn't they just say he wanted her to turn because it's less expensive?
I think we all knew that Emil was turning into Abomination on the side (related question: his VFX looked almost practical, did anyone else think that? Was that a man in a suit?) so I wasn't surprised he would take a speaking engagement and not check too closely. But I would've liked for him to be a LITTLE sorry that it was the guys who hurt Jen. That doesn't feel right. (Though I was not surprised Wong broke him out because they are besties now. Suck it, Strange. Would watch whole show about Wong, Madisynn and Abomination just hanging around Kamar-Taj.)
I wish we learned WHY Titania was there. I wanted more Titania in general throughout the season. I thought she was fun. And she looked hot breaking through that wall.
Tumblr seems to be most excited by the return of Daredevil. I didn't hate it but it felt a bit fan service-y to me. I don't think Matt and Jen will be a couple when "Daredevil: Born Again" rolls around so it's really just filling time with jokes about how much money he makes. And we know he lives in a trash bin already, Marvel. Duh.
I haven't seen many gifs of the parts I did like so I would like to request.
Cousin Larry aka Jen's Dad spraying the reporters with a hose and saying he had "water pressure for days." That's a good dad. Where is Balki though?
I loved everything about Nikki trying to get Pug to talk like an incel. I loved when she said to refer to women as "females." That was the best joke in the episode.
Titania trying to live stream a murder of Todd is great. No notes.
I liked seeing Wrecker again but I wished the entire group had been there for the fight. That would've made it bigger and stupider! Come on, show! PS I hope they aren't getting the chicken blood from Emil's chickens? Was that what the court room drawing with the chicken was? I don't like that.
Disney makes her sign an NDA even if they are going to send guards after her. Yes, that sounds like Disney.
Did Jen get her job back? She's going into court as She Hulk at the end. That felt skipped over and something that would've been important to her.
It was very silly. In general I prefer silly to overly serious. But not all of the jokes landed for me.
But listen I'm happy to see Bruce, Matt and Wong. Even Emil, Wrecker and Titania. I hope everyone comes back for a season 2 especially Pug and Nikki.

Marvel OC list pt. 3
Mavis Bethany Quill
Tumblr media
Name: Mavis Bethany Quill
Age: 35
Height: 6'1
Powers: Power stone abilities.
Sexuality: Pansexual
Personality: ambivert, realist, salty, holds in until she bursts it all out, brave, bold, funny, street smart, takes risks, adventurous, loud, charming, dramatic, quick on her feet, sarcastic, old-fashioned
Family:
Older Brother - Peter Quill
Father - Ego
Mother - Meredith Quill
Taken by Yondu as kids, Peter and Mavis were raised to be one of the ravagers, to make it worse, everything they did, would turn into a competition which would annoy the others, the siblings would bicker a lot during missions which is why they would get caught most of the time, but to their luck they were already skilled enough to fight off the 'bad' guys.
Mavis turned out to be a great archer, so she asked Yondu for a bow and arrow as a weapon, being in space, some of the arrows had different purposes, like a bomb, an electroshocker and etc.
Following the events of the first movie, instead of Peter, Mavis touched the power stone first, which granted her the abilities of the stone. Of course, she didn't know at first, but when Peter was getting on her nerves and she wasn't having any of it, she got angry and accidentally blasted him out of the ship, luckily for them they were on another planet so he just landed on the ground.
When they met a strange man, Ego, who claimed to be their father, the siblings didn't believe him at all, but when he did prove to be their father, Mavis was a little disappointed because he seemed to have all his attention on Peter. In the end, Ego turned out to be the bad guy who put the tumor in their mother's brain. The siblings defeated their father together, Peter with the power that Ego gave him and Mavis with her newfound powers.
Her picrew (the purple necklace is a part of the power stone):

Gwendoline May Hardy-Parker
Tumblr media
Name: Gwendoline May Hardy-Parker
Nicknames: Gwen, Lyn, kitten (her mother), sweetheart (her father)
Age: 18
Height: 6'0
Abilities: web shooters (made by her father), superhuman strength, agility, endurance, ability to climb stick to and climb walls and other surfaces, spider-sense, bad luck aura to use against her opponents, extraordinary balance and retractable claws.
Sexuality: Pan
Personality: Brave, bold, witty, energetic, outgoing, takes risks, adventurous, honest, charming, quick thinker, sarcastic
Parents:
Father - Peter Parker
Mother - Felicia Hardy
Facts: Peter didn't know which one to pick so he gave his daughter both Gwen and May's name with which Felicia was completely fine. Gwendoline basically took after her mother, including her 'profession', to which Felicia was proud but Peter of course was against it, still he knew he couldn't change her mind so he let go of the subject. Gwendoline still went to school like any other kid and was doing good in her classes, though she would always be late because of her night 'job'. Even though she usually preferred to be the bad guy, she still would help the other people in danger, after all, she's still the daughter of Spider-Man.
Her suits (the first one is her main suit, the others are for different occasions):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alan Walters
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Name: Alan Walters
Age: 19
Height: 6'2
Sexuality: Bi
Powers: basically anything a Hulk can do (•‿•)
Family:
Jennifer Walters - Mother
Neil Stokes - Father
Bruce Banner - Uncle
Alan's father left him as a kid when he found out about the kid being a hulk as well, said he couldn't take another Hulk in his life. Jen of course had some tough days after he left, but grew to realise that she didn't really need him in her life, she needed to take care of her kid, who also needs help, even if it meant she had to do it alone.
When Alan was old enough, Jen told him about his abilities, what he could do and of course, to control his anger as much as possible, Alan was smart enough to understand the consequences, so growing up, he learned how to control his anger and the other guy.
As he was older, he became more quiet and distant from others, started to sleep less and at some point not at all, Jen would notice this and would tell him to take care of himself but the boy would just shrug it off and head to his room with another cup of coffee, he started wearing glasses after ruining his eyesight, not because of playing games all night, because he'd study 24/7 and try to invent some stuff, he idolised Bruce, that's why day and night he would work on different projects, gadgets and etc.
As you can guess, he doesn't have any friends, nor does he want any, he likes to sit alone in his room, with his gadgets and books.
Even though he seems like a pretty chill guy, that doesn't mean he doesn't get angry, one time he got angry at someone from school, his eyes started glowing red and his skin was slowly changing its colour to green, but he ran away quickly before he could turn completely, he could also turn when he's stressed, which happens a lot when something doesn't go his way.
His hulk form (Despair):
Tumblr media
All this happened because I decided to play around with the picrew (◡ ω ◡)

All absolutely fair points, but I would like to counter that I don't know how you can tell that Jen was acting more drunk than she was. If there's a moment where this is insinuated, I must have missed it. I read it as played-up drunkenness for the comedy genre, but I'm also autistic and miss more subtle social queues.
I didn't mean to imply Jen brought it up because she was drunk; just that she forced the issue when she was drunk.
I'm a very big proponent of sexuality and anti-censorship, especially with women's sexuality. It's obviously a touchy subject, and I took the bit about him dying a virgin to be a joke. I'd make the same joke about myself if I were still a virgin, and if I were a celebrity I'd know it comes with the territory. However, I can see how that'd be offensive to asexuals. That being said, it's obvious Steve has had sexual attraction in the past given Peggy and then Sharon, as well as the Black Widow kiss. I understand your point about Bruce having known him personally, but again, it was something that Steve chose to confide in Bruce. And then something Bruce confided in Jen. So it wasn't exactly a secret. And Jen as far as we can tell hasn't broadcast it to the rest of the world, right? If you've never told something about someone you know personally to someone else, that's fine, but the vast majority of people do. People will always gossip. Especially when the person in question is a celebrity. She didn't sell out or anything to the tabloids, she had a conversation with her cousin. A private conversation with her cousin.
A lot of people don't care about sex--especially people that have been in the college and big city crowds. It's a part of life. It's most likely how you were made and definitely how I was made--90% sure my parents only got hitched bc of me being a drunken mistake. I don't really see any harm in talking about it. Also I'm pretty sure that sexual content has to be indicated in the rating, so if you had a problem with that, I mean the warning was there? Unless it wasn't, which is a whole other issue.
I haven't read a lot of She-Hulk outside of the original A-Force, but iirc her sexuality and bluntness is an important aspect of her character in the comics, no? I know she's at least slept with Tony, but I could be wrong about her sexuality being key to her character. It's how I've always read her, however, but it's been several years since I read comics regularly. Too expensive and too time-consuming for undergrad. I'd love to hear your analysis though if you'd like to share.
As for Jen saying she was the better Hulk, I mean, she didn't say she was better because she was a woman, right? And there was also that throwing the boulder scene, where Bruce did show more strength than her after she was smug throwing her first one further than his first one. She said she was the better Hulk because she could control the rage and her Hulk and not rampage through cities, which is... Hard to argue with? Even if it's mean, Bruce was still trying to throw her through his process when she told him she didn't need it. I took it again as her saying she didn't need or want his help, because he was acting like he was the leading authority on their now-shared experience--and I can understand why Bruce feels that way, he's dealt with being a Hulk way longer, as well as why Jen doesn't care to hear it, she thinks she doesn't need to be told how to control herself. Even if Jen is wrong and something happens later down the line where she does lose control and Bruce is proven right, that wasn't the case at that point. Most people have to learn from their own mistakes, not the mistakes of the people that came before them--especially in media. It's there for conflict and tension. Spider-Man didn't just know that with great power comes great responsibility--he had to learn it through losing Ben, even though Ben told him that very lesson. On a basic down-to-the-script level, the episode would've been really boring had there not been that rivalry, given that Jen doesn't seem to have any internal antagonistic traits she's struggling with like Bruce did/does.
I personally struggle a lot with my mental health and I absolutely know there are people that handle their emotions better than I do. They're not better people because of it, but they are better at controlling their stronger emotions. That's something I'm personally working on, but I do it a helluva lot better than my father, for example, even though he's dealt with it much longer than I have (we're both Borderline). In this specific example, I've had to learn to control my anger better because when I didn't, he'd use his to hurt me. His anger went unchallenged; mine was met with severe punishment. Is my father a bad person because he was abusive? A lot of people say so. I say it's more complicated than that. He still thinks he's better at controlling his emotions than me, though, because he's dealt with it longer. I don't have the energy to argue with him, so I just bite my tongue now. This is also why I like how Jen told Bruce that she's had to do it a lot longer than he has, because that's exactly what I dealt with and continue to deal with in my own life. My brothers were never met with the same punishments for expressing their anger. I've been disowned, twice, for mine.
I suppose I read the Hulk as a metaphor for anger, which is a very strong and difficult-to-control emotion. If I had read it as Jen saying she was better than Bruce because she didn't struggle with her rage as much, that obviously would be a problem. It's incredibly ableist. I didn't take it that way though, but I can see how others might. I simply took it as her saying she was better at being a Hulk, aka controlling her emotions, from the beginning of her Hulk stage of life
6 Reasons I Disliked She-hulk (tv show)
1. I didn’t like the way that Jen talks to Bruce. She’s really annoying the whole time and acts like she knows best. Also, she seems to be constantly bragging that she’s better than him because she can control her powers sooner, when it really just means she’s privileged. The TV show doesn’t treat either of these like flaws.
2. Bruce isn’t nice either? He’s been one of the nicer characters in the past, but here he seems to have forgotten that he didn’t always want to be a superhero, and spent time helping get medicine for homeless kids before Avengers or whatever he was doing. He seems to be unwilling to imagine that Jen might not want to be a superhero, when he hasn’t always wanted to be one.
3. OH MY GOD TITANIAS OUTFIT IS THE UGLIEST THING IVE EVER SEEN
4. Why would she turn into a hulk just from a drop of his blood?? Seems super cheesy, a blood transfusion is a MUCH better backstory. Like seriously, chances are good that hulk blood has gotten places before in big battles, so if a drop is all it takes it seems unlikely no one would have been infected before.
5. Make her buff?? She’s supposed to be just as strong as the hulk.
-Women want characters who actually look like really people, while she-hulk magically gets her hair straightened when she shifts.
-Women don’t want Jen talking about how she’s so much better then Bruce because she’s a woman.
6. AND THE STEVE VIRGIN COMMENTS!!
Jen WTF it’s none of your business what Steve has or hasn’t done. If it was a male character making such comments about Natasha that wouldn’t be seen as okay, so it’s not okay for her to do the same thing about Steve. Also she’s talking about it to Bruce, who was friends with Steve (who is now dead), WHAT MAKES HER THINK TALKING TO HIM ABOUT WHETHER HIS DEAD FRIEND IS A VIRGIN OR NOT IS OKAY.
(Also Steve went back in time and married Peggy, the only way he would still be a virgin is if he didn’t want to have sex, and that could be true for literally any superhero other than Iron Man)
Also having Steve lose his virginity to a random girl on a tour seems OOC, but honestly I don’t really care about MCU Steve Rogers.
———————
(If anyone disagrees with me about any of these points, I’m fine having a friendly discussion, but I don’t want to get in a huge fight over a stupid tv show is set in a universe that has whitewashed multiple characters and is hugely problematic.)

there is so much to unpack here that I don't even know where to begin.
tony was dumped by Pepper because she was sick of him saying he would give up the suit and then him not doing that even after promising that he would over and over again. that's on him.
it wasn't a guilt trip. his evil robot did kill her son. she blames him. he felt guilt because that's??? what you should feel when your inventions kill someone? surprise.
you're legit blaming bruce for being yeeted into space when the hulk was in control that's... really gross and you shouldn't do that. also the hulk was a gladiator and just as much of a prisoner as everyone else on sakaar but that's a conversation for another day
they want control over all enhanced individuals. not just the avengers. thaddeus "i would like one super soldier serum pls" ross backed it because it would give him access to metahuman dna. wakanda backed it to keep their country hidden. but no matter how you look at it; people with powers (whether they use them or not) had trackers placed on them that monitored their every movement
I'm not saying it sounds very nazi germany but it sounds very nazi germany only, you know, sub out jews, lgbts, romani, etc. and put in enhanced humans. I hope that leaves a sour taste in your mouth. it does in mine.
they had no idea that bucky had killed the starks when they sent out that world wide man hunt for him. a man hunt, by the way, that was for an innocent man seeing that he didn't bomb the UN. but who cares about facts, right?
tony thought it was a good idea and then literally breaks it every chance he can. so much for him thinking it's a "good idea". if you can show me proof of two times where he followed the laws of the accords I will conceid my point. but you can't cause he's rich and he does whatever he wants.
tony stark tried to kill a pow who had been tortured, brainwashed, and forced to be a weapon. he tried to murder bucky barnes in cold blood because of something the winter soldier was forced to do.
tony stark didn't care about fixing bucky because he wanted bucky dead. he tried to murder him. it was attempted murder.
i dunno what the hell that last part is saying so i'm just going to ignore it but it looks like you're confusing infinity war with civil war (two different movies, just in case you needed that clarification).

steve left him cause he tried to kill bucky stop victim blaming thanks
