Up next, a pleasant patch of Goldenstalks. These are the first of the season, and this one has bloomed early! The greens are bitter and inedible, but the flowers are sweet and spicy in a way that numbs the tongue slightly. The flowers can also be useful in spells that produce light.

Lore Post - Kina

Kina is an...alchemical accident. Originally a Yordle OC (yes, a Yordle), I decided I didn't want to be tied down to someone else's lore. Officially there are no Yordles in-universe, so her previous species can be regarded as some kind of fuzzy fey-like imp for plothole purposes.

Kina was, pre-accident, a battle alchemist. Her speciality potions allowed for targets to be sent to sleep, set on fire, or transmogrified into various forms.

However, while working on a water-breathing potion, a loud bang startled her enough to knock some extra ingredients into the mix, resulting in a magical explosion. The blast demolished her lab, her notes, and most importantly, scrambled her DNA with that of the active ingredient of her potion - a water dragon. By the time she'd made it to a mirror, slowly shrinking in height, various body parts swelling and scaling over, she looked considerably more draconic than any mammal had any right to.

In her new form, Kina's skin is either scaled (the tips of her ears, and from the thighs down) or slightly furry with the occasional scale.

When she gets wet, or is in a sufficiently humid environment, she changes further, becoming completely draconic until she dries off. This is a magically based change, and doesn't seem to follow any concrete rules - dipping a foot into a bath won't do anything on some days, but on others will cause the change to begin rippling up her leg.

She has the ability to breathe underwater thanks to a set of gills on her neck (covered by scales in her normal form), and has improved swimming capabilities with little fins on her arms (and legs when fully draconic).

The change shook Kina to her core. Originally a hyperactive outgoing socialite, she withdrew into herself, becoming obsessed with finding a cure to her condition. Most of her time is spent in her rebuilt laboratory, trying to find a potion to reverse the changes.

She hates herself in almost every aspect. To her, what she's become is nothing more than a freak accident, a monster. She avoids mirrors where possible, and assumes everyone who sees her thinks of her with disgust.

Kina retained (most of) her mind, and with it her potion making ability. She excels at potion creation, which is 80% chemistry and 20% innate magical talent - the specific person stirring the mixture has a direct impact on the results! However, with her very being having been altered, her magical ability has increased considerably, causing her potions to be unpredictable in either strength or nature.

Kina's potions, as a general rule, aren't permanent, with the effects of transmog potions especially having a roughly 20 hour limit unless the dose is repeated.

She makes money from selling her more basic potions, things like cold-remedies, lust draughts, potions of fire and potions of ice, etc.

Kina is in a very open relationship with @siebewastaken‘s Anna (although they don't strictly occupy the same universe, they can be transplanted into the others world for storytelling reasons without any major concerns). Open relationship in this case means Kina is totally devoted to Anna, and Anna continues sleeping with anything that moves.

Pre-accident, Kina was 88cm (~2'11") tall, and wore a steel chestplate with a boob-tube as undergarment, shorts and steel-capped boots.

Post accident, she's currently only 71 cm (~2′4″) tall, and due to a certain rearrangement of mass, no longer fits into her chestplate, and instead wears the boob-tube and shorts (with a hole cut out for her tail) while working. The boots don't fit over her new feet.

The comic I'm working on over on my art blog will have an effect on her height by it's conclusion.
