i think a lot about how xayah comes off older than she is... relative to human years, at least. yes, she's over 180 years old in reality, but by vastayan standards, she's only early twenties. like a number of other champs ( irelia for example ), xayah is thrown into war and chaos early on. and it forces her into a position she's both ready for and yet too young to truly have to bear. her voice lines and general behavior/attitude are that of... almost a military leader - someone older and more experienced. again, yes, she's technically got the literal years under her belt, but physically, chemically, and semi-mentally, her body has only aged so much. it comes off far clearer when she's interacting with rakan versus others. reading the stories and listening to her voice lines, she's this calm sort of anger. a poison, a sharpened blade... then turns around and interacts with rakan and we're reminded she's just a young woman trying to bring back a world that is dying. like you'll hear her laugh and tease with him and lapse her full on frustration into youthful spirit. it just really hits me on occasion while i'm writing her like. oh, birby, you only baby...
