Sooo a while ago I had an idea for a Zelda fic I call “Cluck of the Wild”, where the premise is that Ganon takes control of Link’s body from the Shrine of Resurrection, and Zelda, in desperation, casts her spirit out in search of someone, anyone... and ends up in the body of a Cucco, also named Zelda, in the possession of Link’s grand-niece, also named Link.
I drew the design on the left first, but then I wanted to see what a version where her outfit draws more from Linkle would look like, so I drew the one on the right.
I want to get the fic out before TotK so I really need to start hauling ass and get to writing...

since there are awful people on this site, I am taking this time as an excuse to empty the silly au drabbles I have amassed over time onto here!
this one is also from the 'all hermits are hybrids and none of them know' au, but this time I inflicted my creeper brainrot onto the sillies
scar fiddles with the cuffs of his sleeves as grian watches him. his expression is oddly reassuring—not pressuring him into anything, waiting patiently for when he’s ready.
“it, um.” scar runs his hand over the fuzz on his left arm. “you’re not going to tell anyone else, right?”
“of course not.” grian says immediately.
scar nods, and takes a breath. “I- um. i’m a creeper hybrid.”
grian’s eyes widen, and scar’s stomach drops. is that a good-surprise or a bad-surprise?? oh gosh, what if he’s just ruined everything and grian hates him now and they’re never gonna be friends again and-
“me too.”
scar stares back. he- “you what?”
grian rolls up his sleeves to reveal dark green fuzz, almost identical to scar’s. “i’m also a creeper hybrid.”
“you- i’m sorry, you are also a creeper hybrid, saw this,” scar gestures to the fuzz on the side of his face. “and thought ‘oh yeah, scar is just a normal human’?”
“I- you said it was moss!” grian protests, visibly trying not to laugh. “how was I meant to know!”
“common sense!” scar exclaims, giggling. “jimmy knew immediately after he saw me, and there aren’t even any creepers here!”
“you wear a mask!” grian says.
“you can still see the fuzz!” scar says.
“right, I need to know how jimmy knew this, because you didn’t know I was a creeper either apparently.” grian decides, and grabs his arm.
scar blinks at the periwinkle polish on his nails, and gives him a questioning look. grian groans. “oli did it. apparently my hands were ‘too boring’ for the olipeligo.”
“I thought scott was the colour man?” scar says, letting grian lead him in completely the wrong direction.
“yeah, he stole it from scott.” grian grins at him.
“g, you are going the wrong way.” scar says.
“oh- I don’t know where anything is in this place.” grian says, and scar pulls him gently in the opposite way.
grian promptly falls directly into scar, who can’t help grinning.
“i’m getting my tail out.” grian decides. “everyone here is a hybrid anyway.”
scar smirks. “that’s what she said-“
“oh, scar!”
-
“of course I knew!” jimmy is laughing at them both. “how could I not know? it was so obvious!”
“we didn’t know!” grian protests.
“yeah, ‘cause you guys are idiots.” jimmy says. “you were terrified of lizzie when you saw her! no one is scared of lizzie except for creepers and competing scam artists.”
scar stares at him. “she’s a cat?!”
jimmy laughs even harder, and if it weren’t such a lovely sound, scar would feel slightly slandered. “next you’re gonna tell me you didn’t know ren is a dog.”
scar can see grian’s mouth drop open out of the corner of his eye. “he’s what?!”
jimmy’s smile fades slightly. “you- no, you’re kidding.”
scar just shakes his head, dumbfounded. “not kidding.”
“he- seriously?!” jimmy exclaims. “he has dog ears!”
“I thought they were fake!” scar’s tail lashes behind him, and apparently this is the first time jimmy has seen it, because he gasps.
“wait, you guys have tails?” he says excitedly.
“yeah!” scar says. “i’m incredibly off balance if i’m hiding it—that’s why I wear skirts!”
“for people who are terrified of cats, you sure look like them.” jimmy says.
“we do also hiss when we’re scared or angry.” grian says thoughtfully. “huh. why are we scared of cats?”
“uncanny valley, maybe?” scar suggests.
grian snaps his fingers. “that might be it.”

“You know we’re not supposed to be this far outside the castles walls!” Robin exclaimed, hurrying after you. “Robin come on! I just want to explore, I can’t stand all of the talk of my brother coronation, my mother just talks about marrying me off now!”
“Well would marriage be such a bad thing?”
You paused in your tracks to look at your friend, she nodded, “Pretend I didn’t say that.”
With a chuckle and a shake of your head, you continued through down the path. Removing the hood of your cloak from your head, sighed as the sun warmed your face.
Robin linked her arm with yours, walking side by side, no worries about would may see you, you were outside the city now.
The emerald leaves of the woods shone under the daylight, “Maybe we should head back?” Robin said.
“Me and my father always walked this path when I was small, come on Robin we’ll be quick.”
Beams of sun shone through the branches, illuminating the multi coloured flowers, small animals ran across the path, faeries flew past with their tingling bell sound.
The forest was alive with springtime. Your own gown seemed to be brighter in colour, the periwinkle of yours and royal blue of robins.
Your hair was also more alive, the small braids throughout, shining with pretty gems, similarly to your sharp pointed ears showing who you really were.
“Did you hear that?” Robin asked suddenly.
“Hear what?” She paused for a moment, turning her head to listen for the mysterious sound.
“That!” The shorter haired girl exclaimed.
“Robin, I really can’t hear anything,” you really did try to hear whatever it was, but soon enough Robin was dragging you down the winding path.
“Robs wait! she was moving at an ungodly pace, something you’d never seen from her, almost like magic. It wasn’t unusual sure, but this was a different kind of magic.
Pulling your arm from her grip, you grabbed Robins shoulders forcing her to meet your gaze. “What can you hear?”
“Singing!”
“Singing?”
“Yes it’s the most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard.” Robin continued to push against your hold, walking towards whatever singing she heard.
Letting her go you followed behind, trying to figure out what was going on. Out of the corner of your eye you spotted someone else. No, many other people.
The were all walking in the same direction as your and Robin. “Robin, we have to go,” you tugged at her sleeve, trying to drag her back, she was now stepping off of the path.
“I need to find out whose voice that is, it’s beautiful.” Your head flooded with thoughts, what was it? Who was it?
Then you saw it, the waters edge. “Sirens,” you whispered. You could see their tails glistening as they swam closer, hands with webbed fingers, arriving at the waterside.
“Robin come away,” you pulled at her arm, but the girl yanked away from your grip, making you stumble.
A red haired woman emerged from the water, pushing herself up on the bank.
“Hello,” she purred.
“H-Hi,” Robin smiled.
“What’s your name?”
“Robin.”
“Come with me Robin.”
Her webbed fingers came out of the water, hand reaching towards Robins. Your friend took it softly, letting the woman pull her closer to the waters edge.
Pushing yourself up, you reached out for Robin, “No!” you screamed as Robin was pulled into the water. Jumping in after her you kicked at the beast, grabbing onto Robin.
The siren hissed at you, bearing her teeth. Pushing Robin up towards the surface, you began to swim up after her, but a hand gripped onto your ankle.
Hearing a calling sound, more and more sirens swam towards you, some holding onto men and women and those inbetween.
With panic you kicked at the siren with fire red hair, hoping to get free, but as more and more air left your lungs your kicks got weaker.
Slowly feeling yourself go limp, you felt more webbed hands grab hold of you, pulling you down into the depths.
Your eyes fell closed as the remaining breath left you.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
“Help! Someone please help me!” Robin called out to anyone who was near. Hooves came towards her, two faces she recognised from passing days.
“Thank goodness.”
“Miss Robin, what’s happened?” The man with shorter hair asked, taking in the woman’s panicked appearance. Dress and hair soaked from water.
“The princess … there were sirens … she saved me … but they … they …” the man with longer hair climbed from the horse.
“Breathe, what happened?” he asked.
“They pulled her down,” Robin sobbed, covering her face. “Steve wait here with Miss Robin.”
The man removed his heavy layer of armour with ease and speed, throwing himself into the water. The murky depths were hard to see through, but the commotion was unmissable.
Swimming towards the group of sirens, he spotted you, seeing them drag you towards their cave, he knew once you reached that point you were gone.
Pushing himself through the water, his curls came loose from how they’d been sat at the base of his neck. Swimming deeper and deeper, he heard a screech of warning from a siren.
“A knight!” One screamed. Drawing his sword, he slashed at a beast, drawing blood. Once that occurred, the sirens let you go, swarming the knight.
Your body fell down, close to the floor of the water. Swinging for the sirens, he cut many of them, ending the lives of others.
They grabbed him, but as he cut the neck of one final siren, one screamed,”Retreat!”
They grabbed the body of those who had passed and swam towards the cave. The knight felt his lungs burn, as he swam deeper for you.
Pulling your body, he went towards the light, the surface. On the bank, Steve’s arm was around Robin, rubbing her side to keep her warm. “Have you got her?!” The woman cried.
“Yes,” the knight coughed, water leaving his lungs, as he gasped a breath. Pulling you on the bank, he panicked as he noticed the lack of movement in your chest.
“No!” Robin sobbed, pulling towards you, but the knight shouted, “Keep her back!” Steve grabbed her waist holding her in place, trying to comfort her.
Pulling the outer layer of your dress off, he was met with a corset, “Shit!” he sighed, pulling a knife from the holster on his leg.
Slicing the ribbons from the corset, he yanked it off your chest, staring to press his hand in a rhythm against it.
He held your nose, blowing into your mouth, “Come on, wake up!” He spoke through gritted teeth. “One! Two! Three!” He kept pressing against your chest.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
“One! Two! Three! Come on!” A voice spoke. Feeling air come back to you, you coughed loudly, water coming up. Gasping, you held your hand to your chest, hearing a laugh of joy.
“Oh thank god.” Robin. That was Robin.
“Robs?”
“I’m here,” the girl sat next to you, wrapping you in a hug. “Oh thank goodness.”
“Thank you so much,” Robin said to the knight. Looking up at the man, you couldn’t be more thankful. “You saved me.”
“I did what anyone would your Highness.”
Letting Robin help you to your feet, you couldn’t even be embarrassed at the lack of garments. The knight walked to his horse, pulling a cloak off and wrapping it around your shoulders.
“What’s your name sir.”
“Edward.”
“Thank you Edward, you saved my life. I must repay you.”
“I need nothing your Highness, just allow me and my colleague to help you and your friend home safely.”
“Thank you.” Letting the knight help you onto his horse, he climbed up behind, Robin and the other man doing the same thing. You may your way back into the town and up to the castle.
He made sure to keep his hands in a respectful position, keeping you steady on the horse.
“Open the gates for the Princess, the man behind your called. The gates opened, men and women ran towards you, including your mother.
“Darling!” she called.
“Mother,” you smiled. The man, Edward, jumped off the horse, holding out his hand to help you down. “What happened?” your mother asked.
“Sirens in the lake, one grabbed me, but this kind Knight, Edward,” you smiled at the curly haired man, “He saved me mother.”
“Is this true?” she asked Robin and Edward, “Yes your majesty,” they both said.
“Thank you, you saved my girl.” She squeezed your hand, “Come let’s get you all clean and dry.”
Your mother led you all into the castle, “Thank you your Majesty, but we must be heading to the Knights quarters to clean up,” The other man said.
“Yes of course, what is your name sir?” Your mother asked. “Steve,” he spoke softly.
“I owe you my thanks also, Steve. Me and my husband shall call for you both, do not be alarmed, it shall be as a reward.”
“There’s no need-“ Edward started, but your mother held her hand up. “Sir, you saved my daughter, I cannot thank you enough, she is .. she is the light of my life.”
“Of course your majesty, my heart is to you and this kingdom, including your daughter.”
Your cheeks flushed at his words, his eyes met yours. “Mother, may I speak to Edward alone?”
“You may, I shall wait in your bedchambers, be quick my darling,” she squeezed your cheek and ushered Robin away. Steve bowed and may his way to his own space.
“Your highness?” Edward asked.
“I just wanted to thank you again Sir. You saved me.”
“It was nothing, it is my job.”
“I cannot thank you enough for it.”
“No thanks is needed.”
“It is, please meet with my mother and father.”
“I shall your highne-“ you cut him off.
“Y/N, my name is Y/N, no your highness needed.”
“That is not proper your highness i mustn’t.”
“You must, I order it,” you smiled at him, making the corner of his mouth rise. “Well Miss Y/N, please stay away from the lake without a proper escort.”
“Of course, may I call upon you on my next stroll then?”
“Yes your high- Y/N,” he bowed his head.
“Well I must go, and you must be freezing yourself Edward.”
“Eddie.”
“I’m sorry?”
“Edward makes me feel old, so Eddie.”
“Eddie,” you smiled, “Well I shall be seeing you soon I’m sure.”
“I’ll look forward to it,” he bowed. Walking towards him, you stood on your toes, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek. “Good day Eddie.”
“Good day Y/N.” He smiled as he watched you go, disappearing down the hall, his cloak still wrapped around you.

“I want to use specific names for colours/shades but I don’t know many!” Hahaha sakira has got you! If you want to add colour to the objects or stuff in your writing you shouldn’t just write it like this
“Her dress was red” “His eyes were purple”
That makes your writing bland, it dumbs down the readers imagination during reading. Instead describe the colour like this
“Her dress was like a cup of Rooibos tea under a sunlit day”
“His eyes could be compared to that of a raven’s deep violet eyes”
(tip: amethyst is an overused word, there’s a list of other purple words below you should check out)
You can describe colours using objects because it will give shape to the sentence but don’t always go too detailed. If you make one sentence with a lot of adjectives and everything then don’t over use it in the other sentence that’s is.
But remember to use a simile like “as” or “like” if you do use objects.
I already wrote “Her dress was like a cup of Rooibos tea under a sunlit day” so next time when I mention the dress’s colour again I am going to write something like this
“Her garnet dress flowed in the wind”
Why? Because simple sentenced always enchance the writing and gives reader a feeling.
now that we are done with how to write colours let’s see some synonyms!!
white- bleached , colourless , pearly , milky , snowy, ivory , salt , Lacey , linen , frosty, daisy parchment , porcelain, cotton , rice bone
black- ebony, midnight, jade , spider , coal , pitch black, void , empty, sooty , obsidian , metal, onyx , ink , crow
grey- shadow, ash , graphite , foggy, dove , silver , dull, cloud ,slate, iron, smoke, pebble
red- garnet, blush , Merlot , cherry , crimson, rose, sangria, bloody, berry , currant, terracotta, jam , merlot
orange- tangerine , ginger , apricot, autumn , spice , amber, rust, marmalade, pumpkin , carrot , clay, golden , copper , ochre
yellow- gold, canary , light , butterscotches, dandelion, honey , blonde, corn, saffron , ocher, buttermilk
green- beryl , viridescent , olive , emerald , pickle, leafy , sage , lime , pear , mint, mignonette, glaucous
blue- ocean , aqua , cobalt, navy , sapphire, admiral, denim , cerulean, indigo , lapis , peacock, aegean, azure , turquoise, cyan , arctic
purple - amethyst , raven , violet ,lilac , lavender, plum , magenta ,orchid , mulberry, heather, raisin, amaranthine , eggplant , iris , periwinkle
pink- blush , cherry blossom , taffy , peach, flamingo , rosey , salmon , fuscia, rosewood , pale red
IMPORTANT : remember to do GOOD research on shades!! You need to know which one you can use as an adjective and which one is a noun. If it’s a noun turn it into adjective, if it cannot be turned into an adjective then use a simile.
There’s more and if you know put it in the reblogs

The Bryce and Azriel theory.
Matching weapons, ancient prophecies, dusk, and true equals.
Before you scroll away or block (which I totally understand if you do anyway - you are entitled to curate your own experience on here!), please note that I am not trying to convert anyone to this ship. I am fully aware that most people in the fandom are in favour of Gwynriel, Elriel, Elucien, and/or Quinlar, and I 100% respect those preferences.
I am also not saying this is canon, or will be canon - it's a theory. However, I very rarely (if ever) see people correctly talk about the actual evidence for the Bryce x Az pairing, especially when they're mocking it as nothing more than a 'crackship.' Given the sheer size of this post (and the fact that it took me weeks to put together), it's no surprise that I disagree with such a sentiment.
Feel free to form your own opinion on the matter; I only ask that you keep an open mind. And if that's not possible, then at the very least, I hope this is still an entertaining read, as it breaks down a sizeable chunk of the SJM multiverse.
(So, evidently: SJM universe spoilers ahead).
Tumblr media
[art by Gabrielle Ragusi].
To begin: Bryce's connections to dusk.
Throughout both Crescent City books, Bryce is repeatedly connected to dusk. For example:
Bryce's scent is of dusk.
One of the first things Hunt notices about Bryce is that her scent is of the "first stars at nightfall." Nightfall is another word for dusk. This is important, as SJM often uses scent to foreshadow a character's true home (e.g. Rowan's scent being of Terrasen).
"She's here," Hunt said. The scent of her still lingering on the sidewalk, lilac and nutmeg and something he couldn't quite place - like the gleam of the first stars at nightfall."
Bryce is repeatedly associated with dusk imagery.
For example, Bryce often has her nails painted in "twilight" colours (again, another word for dusk), and even her damn nipples are described as being "dusk rose."
"She examined her nails, now painted in some sort of color gradient that went from pink to periwinkle tips. Like the sky at twilight."
Bryce is obsessed with pegasuses and unicorns (which originated from the Dusk Court).
Bryce has been obsessed with pegasus dolls (i.e. Jelly Jubilee!) since book 1; they are iconic to her character. In fact, there is a unicorn-pegasus hidden on the cover of every Crescent City book (see image below).
It's then no coincidence that the pegasuses in Prythian came from the Prison Island... the Dusk Court.
"According to legend, the pegasuses had come from the island the Prison sat upon—"
Tumblr media
"Dusk's Truth"
The entirety of Crescent City 2 centred around "Dusk's Truth," which was confirmed to be about the Dusk Court. This logically implies that dusk (and the Dusk Court) is a pivotal aspect of Bryce's storyline.
This is also why I believe that Bryce's entrance into Prythian isn't just a fun cameo, nor a brief, temporary visit (as many seem to believe) -- instead, all roads point to dusk.
"An isle of near-permanent twilight, the home world of her breed of Fae … A land of Dusk." “Dusk’s Truth,” Bryce breathed. It wasn’t just the name of this room that Danika had been talking about with Sofie."
Bryce is also connected to Prythian.
As much as people try to deny this (for reasons I still don't understand), Bryce is strongly connected to the ACOTAR world, and this has been heavily foreshadowed all along. For example:
Bryce is the true owner of Gwydion; the High King of Prythian's sword.
Crescent City 2 makes clear that Bryce is the true owner of the Starsword (or Gwydion, as it is known in the ACOTAR world).
"He snarled. "The sword belongs to Theia's female heir. Not the male offspring who corrupted her line."
But, this isn't just any sword - it's the sword of the first and only High King of Prythian.
In ACOSF, Amren states that Rhys could use Nesta's "made" swords to set himself up as High King. So, what does that mean for Bryce, who owns the real deal?
“But you, Rhysand, are not.” Amren nodded to the still-rotating weapons. “With these three blades, you could make yourself High King.”
Bryce literally glows for Prythian.
Bryce possesses a star on her chest that is a "beacon" to Prythian; its purpose is to guide people home to the ACOTAR world.
As such, Bryce literally glows and lights up for Prythian. Not Midgard. Prythian.
"The star on your chest - do you know what that is?" "Let's assume I know nothing," Bryce said grimly. Rigelus inclined his head. "It's a beacon to the world from which the Fae originally came."
Bryce possesses the exact starlight of Theia; the rightful queen of the Starborn fae in Prythian.
The star inside of Bryce's chest is that of Queen Theia's. Bryce's starlight is Theia's starlight. It's even suggested that Bryce possesses the same powers that Theia once did (though, she hasn't yet accessed said powers). It's for this reason that many believe that Bryce is the reincarnation of Queen Theia.
“I thought Theia’s light was forever extinguished.” “So did I. I thought they’d made sure she and her power died on that last battlefield under Prince Pelias’s blade.” His eyes glowed with ancient rage. “But Bryce Quinlan bears her light.”
But Theia wasn't just any old queen. Instead, she was the queen of the Starborn fae in Prythian (with it being hinted that she once ruled the Dusk Court).
As such, I find it hard to believe that the land (and the Cauldron) won't recognise this; that Theia (Bryce) has come home at last.
“I remember the last Starborn Queen, Theia, and her powers.” He seemed to shudder."
Tumblr media
[art by AnaSebag].
Putting two and two together; Bryce is likely the future High Lady of the Dusk Court.
At the end of CC2, Rigelus confirmed that Bryce's bloodline - the Starborn fae - not only originated from Prythian, but specifically lived in a "land of dusk."
"An isle of near-permanent twilight, the home world of her breed of Fae... A land of Dusk."
Putting all the clues together across both the ACOTAR and CC books, this is likely in reference to the Dusk Court. ACOTAR readers will know this as the Prison Island (which was suggested to be the "eighth court").
"Rhys told me once that this island might have even been an eighth court.”
Tumblr media
In linking with this, when Nesta visits the Prison Island (Dusk Court) in ACOSF, she senses that "something great" had once existed here, but seemingly vanished. However, she then states that the land "still waited for it to return." Many agree that this is in reference to Bryce and the Starborn fae.
"The very land seemed abandoned. Like something great had once existed here and then vanished. Like the land still waited for it to return."
However, now that Bryce has indeed returned to the Dusk Court (or is about to in CC3); I believe that her presence will awaken the Dusk Court once more, and what was vanished, will return.
As foreshadowing of this, recall this scene in CC1:
"The gentle illumination danced on Bryce’s hair as she ambled down the stone path, night-blooming flowers opening around her. Jasmine lay heavy in the twilight air, sweet and beckoning." "Bryce didn’t flinch as he dropped into step beside her. “I wanted some fresh air.” She admired an unfurling fern, its fronds lit from within to illuminate every vein." "She continued past beds of night crocuses, their purple petals shimmering amid the vibrant moss. The garden seemed to awaken for her, welcome her."
Bryce is walking through a garden. As she continues walking, flowers open around her, and ferns unfurl in her presence. Hunt remarks that it's as if the garden "seemed to awaken" for Bryce.
And the kicker is; as this was happening, Bryce was walking though the "twilight air." This scene occurred during dusk.
Let's also not forget that the star on Bryce's chest is that of an eight-pointed star; the symbol of the Starborn fae (the same symbol engraved on the Prison Island floor, as shown in ACOSF). As a comparison, that's like Rhys having the Night Court insignia branded on his chest... it's rather overt foreshadowing.
“Well,” she said with a sigh, “that’s new.” Indeed, just visible down the V-neck of her T-shirt, a white splotch—an eight-pointed star—now scarred the place between her breasts."
Combined with the fact that Bryce is the heir to the Starborn fae, that she possesses Queen Theia's starlight, that she glows for Prythian, and that even her scent is of dusk... there's no one better suited (and heavily foreshadowed) to rule the Dusk Court, than Bryce Quinlan.
"Homecoming."
As we know, Bryce has now just arrived in the true home world of her people: Prythian.
"An isle of near-permanent twilight, the home world of her breed of Fae... A land of Dusk."
The instance of returning back home is known as a "homecoming."
"Homecoming" [noun]: an instance of returning home. (e.g. "she spent most of the day preparing for her husband's homecoming.")
And, that's exactly what SJM (curiously) labelled this image on her Pinterest board for Bryce.
Tumblr media
Many believe this image to look like Bryce and Azriel (especially when SJM could have labelled it "Bryce and Hunt," which she happily did for the other photos on her CC Pinterest board...), and thus, the Bryce x Azriel theory begins.
The knife and the sword.
In the first Crescent City book, we are told of an ancient fae prophecy; "when knife and sword are reunited, so shall our people be."
"It's another of the Fae's countless inane prophecies," Bryce muttered. "When knife and sword are reunited, so shall our people be." "It's literally carved above the Fae Archives entrance - whatever the fuck it means," Ruhn said."
We now know that this prophecy is referring to Azriel's knife (Truth-Teller) and Bryce's sword (the Starsword). Keep in mind that SJM could have connected this prophecy to any number of characters, but she specifically chose Bryce and Azriel.
Additionally, we are also told that the knife and sword need to stay together in order to activate their full powers. Given the importance of these weapons in defeating the Asteri/Daglan, this suggests that Bryce and Azriel will also need to stay together in some capacity.
"Ruhn shook his head. "The sword doesn't work like that. Aside from being picky about who draws it, the sword has no power without the knife."
Tumblr media
[art by itswibell_art]
Azriel as Starborn.
The Starsword (Gwydion) is a Starborn weapon, as only those with enough Starborn blood can wield it.
"Ruhn shook his head. "The sword doesn't work like that. Aside from being picky about who draws it, the sword has no power without the knife."
Given that Truth-Teller is the twin to the Starsword, this suggests that the knife is also a Starborn weapon. And, the fact that Azriel can wield it, implies that he too is Starborn (or at least connected in some capacity).
This is further substantiated in CC2, in which we learn that the Starborn fae aren't just those with starlight powers, but shadow powers too. This was confirmed by Cormac, who stated that the ability to wield shadows (and teleport through them) was once a gift of the Starborn fae.
"But Hunt didn't so much as sniff as he asked Cormac, "Where did you inherit the ability from?" Cormac squared his shoulders, ever inch the proud prince as he said, "It was once a gift of the Starborn. It was the reason I became so... focused on attaining the Starsword."
In fact, Cormac believed that because he could teleport using his shadows, this was an indication that the Starborn bloodline had resurfaced in him. However, this wasn't true; he had "some Starborn blood," but not enough to be "worthy of the blade."
"I thought my ability to teleport meant that the bloodline had resurfaced in me, as I've never met anyone else who can do it." His eyes guttered as he added, "As you know, I was wrong. Some Starborn blood, apparently, but not enough to be worthy of the blade."
But, do you know who can also use their shadows to teleport...? Azriel.
And, do you know who else has been "deemed worthy" and can wield a "Starborn blade" (i.e. Truth-Teller)? Azriel.
Tumblr media
[art by cludi_a_]
Bryce + Azriel = Dusk Court.
The crux of this theory is that with their matching weapons and connections to the Starborn narrative, Bryce and Azriel represent the two halves of the Dusk Court.
This is because dusk is the crossover between the light and the dark.
This is further exemplified by SJM's own definition of dusk, as seen in Throne of Glass:
"Nightfall. That was when Maeve had told Erawan to meet. That liminal space between light and dark, when one force yielded to another."
As such, Bryce is light, and Azriel is dark. This is evidenced by their powers:
Bryce's power is pure starlight.
Azriel's power is pure shadows (in comparison to other characters, who have shadow powers + something else).
Further, and perhaps most importantly; Bryce and Azriel's weapons also symbolise this same dusk imagery:
Bryce's sword (the Starsword), glows with a GLITTERING, WHITE LIGHT (as if symbolising starlight).
Azriel's knife (Truth-Teller), glows with a DARK LIGHT (as if symbolising shadows).
"It was its twin. The Starsword began to hum within its sheath, glittering white light leaking from where leather met the dark hilt. The dagger - The male dropped the dagger to the plush carpet. All of them retreated as it flared with dark light."
Bryce (starlight) + Azriel (shadows) = Dusk.
And I mean, look at that dusk imagery on the CC3 cover (when the previous two covers were just solid red and black...).
Tumblr media
(I'll also point out that the sword and knife are featured on this cover, with the knife right over the woman's heart...)
Alpha and Omega.
Further, Bryce's sword and Azriel's knife - together - is described as "Alpha and Omega."
"The male dropped the dagger to the plush carpet. All of them retreated as it flared with dark light, as if in answer. Alpha and Omega."
This term means "the beginning and the end."
"Alpha and Omega" [noun]: "the beginning and ending."
Which, is also a term that SJM often uses to describe love, or mated couples. For example, Feyre and Rhys:
"and saw and smelled that bond between us, until our scents merged, and I was his and he was mine, and we were the beginning and the middle and the end."
And this quote here, from Throne of Glass:
"She would find that love again—one day. And it would be deep and unrelenting and unexpected, the beginning and the end and eternity, the kind that could change history, change the world."
Additionally, when the weapons are finally together at the end of CC2, it's said that Azriel's knife glowed "in answer" to Bryce's sword.
"The male dropped the dagger to the plush carpet. All of them retreated as it flared with dark light, as if in answer."
They are matching halves.
Bryce and Azriel as rulers.
Given everything mentioned thus far, I believe that Bryce and Azriel are destined to become the High Lady and High Lord of the Dusk Court.
But, I actually think it goes one step further than this, and it has to do with Bryce's likely rule as High Queen of Prythian. As proof of this:
SJM is drawing from Arthurian mythology, and Bryce is King Arthur.
Throughout both Crescent City books, there are a number of nods to Arthurian mythology. Most obviously is Avallen Island (where Cormac lives), which is likely inspired by the renowned Avalon Island.
In fact, Ruhn retrieving the Starsword from the Avallen caves (and being "deemed worthy" to "pull the sword from its sheath") seemingly parallels King Arthur being deemed worthy of the famous sword, Excalibur, and thus being able to pull the sword from the stone.
"That your son, not you, stood among the long-dead Starborn Princes asleep in their sarcophagi and was deemed worthy to pull the sword from its sheath."
However, as mentioned previously; CC2 makes very clear that the Starsword belongs to Theia's "female heir." The Starsword belongs to Bryce.
As such, I believe that in this series, King Arthur is actually represented by Bryce. And, as further proof of this, consider Rigelus's words at the end of CC2; that Bryce's star glows for those she chooses as her "knights."
"It also glows for those who you choose as your loyal companions. Knights."
Just like King Arthur's own knights; the famed Knights of the Round Table.
Tumblr media
King Arthur was the High King of Great Britain. And, Prythian is in the shape of Great Britain.
Putting two and two together, could this suggest that Bryce will become the High Queen of Prythian?
2. Bryce has the High King's sword.
As mentioned previously, Bryce is the true owner of the Starsword (Gwydion). The same sword that the High King of Prythian once wielded long ago. That alone is heavy foreshadowing.
3. Bryce is repeatedly foreshadowed as a queen.
For example, Hunt often notices Bryce's queenly demeanour:
"She spoke with the imperiousness of a queen. Hunt could only rise with her."
And even the contact name for Bryce in Hunt's phone is "Bryce Is a Queen."
Ruhn also implores Bryce to become queen:
"But you have to live, Bryce. You have to be queen."
To which Cormac agrees, stating that the decision to lead their people forward, will be up to Bryce:
"But after today..." Cormac's words grew heavy. Weary. "I think the choice about whether to lead our people forward will be up to you now."
Additionally, SJM often uses the phrase "lifted their chin" when someone is signifying their authority (e.g. "she lifted her chin, every inch the queen"). Then when Bryce meets Feyre and Rhys, the same term is used:
"So Bryce addressed the two of them as she lifted her chin. “My name is Bryce Quinlan.”
And most of all, is Ruhn's final words to Bryce:
"Her brother pulled away. And Ruhn said, shining with pride, “Long live the queen.”
(Speaking of Ruhn, recall his prophecy from the Oracle; that the royal bloodline ends with him. Considering that he is connected to both the Valbaran and Avallen royal houses, this suggests that there won't be any 'queen positions' left for Bryce to take in Midgard. But, there might be in Prythian...)
4. Bryce has Queen Theia's starlight (and likely her same powers).
Again, as mentioned previously, Theia ruled in Prythian (with some even believing that she was High Queen).
If it's bloodline alone that determines who would be High King/Queen (as Amren appears to suggest in ACOSF), then again, as Bryce is the true heir to the Starborn fae, placing her at spot #1.
5. Bryce glows for the ACOTAR world.
The star in Bryce's chest glows for Prythian. She is a beacon for Prythian. That's queen symbolism right there.
6. Bryce is a main character.
It is a well-known fact that all of SJM's leading ladies rise to power; Aelin as Queen of Terrasen, and Feyre as High Lady of the Night Court.
And, although I have heard some solid theories suggesting that Rhys or Lucien may become High King... it's also a well-known fact that SJM loves a female ruler (especially when Prythian is already so overly patriarchal).
Bryce, however, would be perfect.
Tumblr media
[art by Gabrielle Ragusi]
7. Lastly, and perhaps the most important of all: Bryce is foreshadowed to unite the worlds.
Notably, the last High King (Fionn) rose to power because he united the people of Prythian.
"A millennium of peace followed, and the lands were divided into rough territories that were the precursors to the courts—but at the end of those thousand years, they were at each other’s throats, on the brink of war.” His face tightened. “Fionn unified them and set himself above them as High King. The first and only High King this land has ever had.”
Bryce is foreshadowed to do the same, as per that same ancient fae prophecy; "when knife and sword are reunited, so shall our people be" (and, this is where Azriel comes in).
Although this prophecy can be interpreted in a variety of ways, I believe it to mean that Bryce and Azriel will reunite the Starborn fae, lost across two worlds (Midgard and Prythian). A unification of people... just as Fionn once achieved.
Now, it is theorised that Bryce and Azriel will continue this legacy, as High Queen and High King. In doing so:
Bryce will represent the Midgardian fae, Azriel will represent the Prythian fae.
Bryce will represent starlight, Azriel will represent shadows. Light and dark. Dusk.
Together, Bryce and Azriel are two halves of whole. Alongside their weapons - which are also matching halves - you can't get anymore equal than that.
As mates are supposed to be.
Tumblr media
A common rebuttal to this theory, however, is the belief that Azriel "doesn't have what it takes" to become a High Lord or a High King -- that he is inferior to other contenders (such as the likes of Feyre and Rhys).
Yet, I'd argue that the one character who could match up to Feyre and Rhys (and has foreshadowing hinting as such; power-wise)... would be Azriel. For example:
With Feyre (ACOSF):
“Give me some credit, Feyre,” Az said. “I can keep hidden well enough.” “We take no risks,” Feyre said, voice flat with command. “Pull all your spies out.” “Like hell I will.”
With Rhys (ACOFAS):
“And what would you have me do, then? Disband the largest army in Prythian?” Az didn’t answer. I held his gaze, though. Held that ice-cold stare that still sometimes scared the shit out of me."
“You sure about that?” I asked quietly. Azriel’s Siphons guttered, the stones turning as dark and foreboding as the deepest sea. “Where did Lucien go.” I straightened at the pure order in the words."
Az nodded knowingly. He’d always understood me best—more than the others. Save my mate. Whether it was his gifts that allowed him to do so, or merely the fact that he and I were more similar than most realized, I’d never learned.
With Rhys (ACOSF; the bonus chapter):
"Azriel stiffened. Let his cold rage rise to the surface, the rage he only ever let Rhysand see, because he knew his brother could match it."
Similarly, it is also argued that Azriel would "never leave the Night Court." Yet, take it from Azriel himself; that he too is not sure where he truly fits in.
"I don’t really know where I fit in anymore,” I admitted, perhaps only because the wind was screeching around us and Rhys had already winnowed ahead to where Cassian’s dark form flew—beyond the wall. “I’ve been alive almost five and a half centuries, and I’m not sure of that, either,” Azriel said."
Combined with Azriel's disdain for the Illyrians and their culture (and the fact that when Az refers to the Illyrians, he will often say "they/them" as opposed to "we/us"...) could it be that something else is in store for Azriel's future?
Especially when we know Azriel has always been so curious about what lies beyond...
"At the far end of the room, a little dais led into a broad raised alcove flanked by more books—and in its center, a massive, working model of their world, the stars and planets around it, and some other fancy things that had been explained to Cassian once before he deemed them boring and proceeded to ignore them completely. Az, of course, had been fascinated."
Bryce and Azriel's beast forms.
If Bryce and Azriel are indeed set to become High Lady and High Lord of the Dusk Court, then they will presumably possess beast forms.
To expand on this, in a recent Marie Claire interview (August 2023), SJM stated that her favourite place to write is her desk, where she's surrounded by the things that remind her of the current book she's writing.
SJM: "I like to write at my desk, where I'm surrounded by lots of little items that remind me of either the book I'm writing, or things that just make me happy."
SJM then mentioned that when writing House of Flame and Shadow, she kept a vintage My Little Pony pegasus figure that was the inspiration for Jelly Jubilee.
SJM: "While writing House of Flame and Shadow, for instance, I had a vintage My Little Pony figure with me that was the inspiration for Bryce's beloved Jelly Jubilee!"
Then, when SJM announced the title of Crescent City 3, we were offered a glimpse of her desk, and sure enough - that vintage My Little Pony figure is right there.
But most importantly, this tells us that the items featured in this video aren't just random, but are instead (part of) the inspiration for House of Flame and Shadow.
Tumblr media
Which then begs the question; what is the Godzilla toy hinting at? Well, the only connection I have been able to make... is to Azriel.
As proof of this, recall that in ACOMAF, Azriel's Siphon is described as being the "great eye" of a "half-slumbering beast" from a "frozen wasteland."
"I watched the light shift inside the sapphire Siphon instead, as if it were the great eye of some half-slumbering beast from a frozen wasteland."
This description matches Godzilla almost perfectly; who is an ancient monster, often slumbering at the bottom of the ocean, and also often frozen within ice.
Tumblr media
And, if Azriel's Siphons are supposed to be reminiscent of the "great eye" of this beast, then it's perhaps no coincidence that Godzilla is famed for his blue, glowing eyes.
Tumblr media
Similarly, Godzilla's atomic breath manifests as blue fire (which is what you can see coming out of the mouth of SJM's own Godzilla toy).
Coincidentally (or perhaps not), Azriel - and specifically his Siphons - are repeatedly described as blue flame.
"The shadows deepened around Ariel, his Siphons gleaming like cobalt fire."
"Azriel caught his eye. Rhys nodded. The Siphons atop his scarred hands flickered like rippling blue fire as he reached for the Attor."
"Illyrian lines buckled. Azriel sailed closer and closer to them, Siphons trailing tendrils of blue flame in his wake."
In linking with this, I have also theorised that Bryce has a beast form, and that hers will be a unicorn-pegasus (as outlandish as that may sound, it's one of my most well-received theories; link here).
Thus, I believe that the pegasus and Godzilla toys on SJM's desk in the CC3 reveal video, are symbolic of Bryce and Azriel.
Tumblr media
Bryce and Azriel meeting for the first time.
When CC2 first came out, people started shipping Bryce and Azriel based on their first interaction alone. Some even noted that Azriel acted in a particularly uncharacteristic manner towards Bryce; he touched her repeatedly, and seemingly showed more emotion (or rather, a lack of composure) than what is usual. For example:
"He hissed, and then a strong hand clamped on her shoulder, hauling her up and twisting her to face him."
"The male’s hands were gentle but thorough as he fitted it tightly over her eyes."
"He set her down, taking her by the hand."
"He caught her, and sighed. She could have sworn he sounded … exasperated. He gave no warning as he hauled her over a shoulder and tromped down a set of stairs."
(It is argued that this is because Bryce is a danger/threat; but if that was true, then why would Azriel take Bryce to the townhouse?)
To me, the last line is the most significant. Azriel is usually calm and collected. He is polite and respectful towards women. Yet within only a couple of minutes, he is already frustrated and "exasperated" with Bryce, and he immediately chucks her over his shoulder.
Tumblr media

And speaking of parallels to other couples, Azriel and Bryce meeting for the first time seemingly shares many parallels with Feyre and Rhys meeting for this first time:
Tumblr media
As well as parallels to Elide and Lorcan meeting for the first time:
Tumblr media
And although this is more of a fun tidbit (one I acknowledge is definitely a reach), it's interesting that in ACOSF, we are told that mating ceremonies are commemorated using black ribbons.
"But all that mattered, she realized, was the male who would be standing with her, first as they swore their vows, then as they offered each other food, and then as their friends and family bound their hands together with a length of black ribbon, to remain until the mating was consummated.
Then, this is what Azriel does as soon as he meets Bryce...

It's also interesting to note that when SJM was asked about her "favourite part" of HOSAB (in an interview with Entertainment Today), she answered the "penultimate chapter," where "a lot of major things come together for Bryce."
Interviewer: "What is your favorite part of House of Sky and Breath?" SJM: "The penultimate chapter - where a lot of major things come together for Bryce!"
SJM is referring to the very chapter mentioned above; when Bryce meets Azriel and the Inner Circle.
Bryce was "yanked" into Prythian.
Speaking of the penultimate chapter of HOSAB (and the events leading up to it), we know that Bryce originally intended to travel to Hel. However, her journey to the underworld was interrupted, as Bryce was instead "yank[ed]" into Prythian.
"It was the last sound Bryce heard as the darkness within the Gate swallowed her whole. She fell, slowly and without end—and sideways. Not a plunge down, but a yank across."
The definition of "yank," is pull, or tug. And, it is a word frequently used when SJM is describing the mating bond. For example, with Feyre and Rhys:
"No sign of him. No pound of beating wings. But the tug yanked again in my mind, my gut - a summoning. Like some servant's bell."
As such, fans of the Bryce x Az ship often speculate that Bryce was "yanked" into Prythian, right at Azriel's feet, because of their (yet to be discovered) mating bond.
Mor and Azriel = Bryce and Azriel.
It is widely accepted in the fandom that SJM initially intended for Mor and Azriel to be endgame (before changing this in ACOWAR). Not only is this because of the way Mor and Azriel interact in ACOMAF, but SJM's Pinterest board also strongly hinted at their pairing, for example:
Tumblr media
With this in mind, consider that whenever Azriel's shadows were around Mor in ACOMAF (when they were likely supposed to be endgame), they lightened and faded in her presence.
"It was almost enough to distract me from noticing Azriel as those shadows lightened, and his gaze slid over Mor's body."
"Azriel, who kept a step away, whose shadows trailed him and seemed to fade in her presence."
Curiously, in the final chapter of CC2, Bryce doesn't mention Azriel's shadows once (when in comparison, she always noticed Ruhn and Cormac's shadows...). As such, could it be that Azriel's shadows lighten and fade in Bryce's presence?
Consider also these points connecting Mor/Azriel to Bryce/Azriel:
In ACOMAF, it's mentioned that Mor's family once ruled the Prison Island. However, we now know that the Prison Island is most strongly connected to Bryce; the Dusk Court.
In ACOMAF, we learn that Azriel's knife is called "Truth-Teller." Many speculate that this was also evidence of Mor and Azriel being endgame (as his knife was "Truth-Teller," and Mor has the power of "Truth"). However, now Truth-Teller is connected to Bryce and the Starsword.
Additionally, if we know that SJM once believed Mor and Azriel to be compatible, then it's worth noting how similar Mor and Bryce are:
Both Mor and Bryce have very similar personalities. In fact, if you're into MBTI (and are familiar with Personality Database), you'll note that both Mor and Bryce are said have the ESFP personality type.
Both Mor and Bryce are physically described in the exact same way. An example of this is outlined below:
"[Mor] wore a gown of pure white, little more than a slip of silk that showed off her generous curves. Indeed, a glance over her shoulder revealed Azriel staring blatantly at the back view of it, Cassian and the stranger already too deep in conversation to notice what had drawn the spymaster's attention. For a moment, the ravenous hunger on Azriel's face made my stomach tighten."
"Bryce Quinlan leaned against the large ironwood desk in the center of the space, her snow-white dress clinging to every generous curve and dip."
Although these comparisons in itself aren't a slam dunk of any sort (as evidently, Azriel is attracted to lots of different body types/people/personalities), I just can't help but wonder if SJM did a copy + paste with Mor and Bryce for this very reason...?
Tumblr media

Speaking of personalities...
Although Bryce and Azriel have only interacted for a single chapter (yet are already causing waves with that alone!), some readers have been contemplating their (potential) compatibility.
More specifically, it appears that Bryce frequently mirrors Azriel's dark and cold demeanour. For example:
"The sprite crawled off her arm and floated in front of her, arms wrapping across her round belly. "You can be cold as a Reaper, Bryce."
"Bryce said quietly, her amber eyes full of cold fire, "I'll find them." She met the Archangel's gaze. "And then I want you to wipe them off the fucking planet."
"Bryce's face remained cold as stone. Colder. Males approached, saw that expression, and didn't venture closer."
"The last gift of the synth before it destroyed her. Yet in her eyes. ... he saw no haze of insanity, of self-destructive frenzy. Only cold, glittering vengeance."
"That icy look—their father’s look—passed over her face. The sort of look that told him there was a wild, wicked storm raging beneath that cold exterior. And the power and thrill for both father and daughter lay not in sheer force, but in the control over the self, over those impulses. The outside world saw his sister as reckless, unchecked—but he knew she’d been the master of her fate since before he’d met her."
In line with this, there have been frequent discussions within the fandom that Azriel needs "healing" or "curing" from his darkness; that he needs to "change his ways." But, what if instead, Azriel needs someone who can match, and embrace his darkness?
And what if that person is Bryce?
(Speaking of 'embracing the darkness,' I find it interesting that Azriel "is a freak," as confirmed by SJM herself. With that in mind, let me remind you that upon first meeting Bryce, Azriel put a knife to her throat and then blindfolded her...).

The Little Mermaid: a hint to Bryce and Az?
I know this is a popular Gwynriel theory (with extremely valid evidence to support it!), which is exactly why I haven't spoken about this connection before, as I don't want to offend anyone.
However, I am going to briefly mention it (only once) right now, and suggest that The Little Mermaid retelling SJM has alluded to, may in fact be Bryce and Azriel.
To first demonstrate this: there are several similarities between Bryce and Ariel (the mermaid).
Bryce and Ariel both have red hair (in comparison, Gwyn is canonically more of a brunette, with "coppery-brown" hair).
Ariel's story is about her journey from life underwater, to life in the human lands (where she meets Eric). Bryce's story involves her journey from Midgard, to Prythian (where she meets Azriel).
However, upon arriving in the human lands, Ariel's voice has been stolen; she cannot communicate with Eric. Similarly, Bryce arrives in Prythian and does not speak their language; she cannot communicate with Azriel.
In Ariel's story, the main antagonist is Ursula, a witch. Bryce also knows (a rather suspicious) witch... Jesiba.
Tumblr media
[art by Morgana0anagrom]
Further, many in the fandom have already pointed out that SJM saved a variety of 'The Little Mermaid' inspired photos to her Pinterest. However, SJM specifically saved these photos under a Pinterest board titled "Story Kernels," meaning that we have no idea whether it's in reference to ACOTAR, CC or both (or neither!)
Some believe these photos to be reminiscent of Gwyn, but, when you compare these photos to the Pinterest images SJM saved of Bryce... the resemblance is most certainly there as well.
Tumblr media
However, some may argue that "Bryce has no real link to mermaids" (in comparison to Gwyn, who has water-nymph heritage; though, that's different from being a mermaid as well).
But I disagree. Recall that in CC2, Bryce seems to rely on other people to "charge up" her power (such as Hunt and Hypaxia). However, I don't believe that is the true manifestation of her abilities. Instead, Bryce hints that she can feel a "giant cloud" of power inside her, one that she can't yet access.
"Bryce sucked in a sharp breath. “I can feel it—like, this giant cloud of power right there.” She ran a finger over the eight-pointed star scarred between her breasts. Starlight pulsed at her fingertip. Like an answering heartbeat. “But I can’t access it.”
The bulk of Bryce's power came from the Gates in Lunathion. Power that was donated by thousands (perhaps even hundreds of thousands) of different beings every time they touched the Gates. And given that the civilians of Midgard herald from different worlds... the variety of this power is staggering.
And it's exactly this power that I believe Bryce can feel (as the "giant cloud") but can't yet access. The evidence for this is engraved into the Gates themselves; "the power shall always belong to those who give their lives to the city." Just as Bryce did.
"The quartz Gates were memorials, though she didn’t know for which conflict or war. But each bore the same plaque: The power shall always belong to those who give their lives to the city."
As such, I believe Bryce's true power is that of the four houses of Midgard; she is Earth & Blood, Sky & Breath, Flame & Shadow, and Many Waters. It's similar to Feyre's power (but x 100).
(And, look again at the cover of CC3 and tell me it doesn't align perfectly with this...)
We even see this in canon when Bryce is making the Drop (after obtaining the power from the Gates):
"But his princess fought for every bit of progress upward, her power shifting, traces of everyone who’d given it to her coming through: mer, shifter, draki, human, angel, sprite, Fae."
"She was sea and sky and stone and blood and wings and earth and stars and darkness and light and bone and flame."
Thus, I believe a good chunk of Bryce's arc in CC3 will be about unlocking this power. And when she does... she will have access to the power of House of Many Waters (the highlighted quotes above emphasise this).
There's even a section of Bryce's ascent (during the Drop) where she thrusts upwards with a "mighty tail." I believe this is a mermaid tail.
"Her power shifted, dancing between forms and gifts. She thrust upward with a push of a mighty tail. Twisted and rose with a sweep of vast wings. She was all things—and yet herself."
And to tie the 'Little Mermaid = Bryce x Az' connections together even further; what's the likely title of the next Crescent City book?
House of Many Waters.
(And as a bonus fun fact: recall that the items on SJM's desk seemingly hint to the inspiration behind HOFAS? Zoom in and you'll see a Little Mermaid cup...).
Hades and Persephone too!
If you scroll back up to the Pinterest photo SJM saved as Mor and Az and reverse-image search it, you'll discover that it's actually an image of Hades and Persephone.
(So no, Feyre and Rhys weren't the only couple inspired by Hades and Persephone).
Similarly, the above Little Mermaid inspired photo that SJM saved (top left)? Also of Hades and Persephone.
The story of Persephone is that of a woman who once lived on Earth and was taken to the underworld. There, she eventually fell in love with Hades, the ruler of the underworld.
Tumblr media
[Hades and Persephone art by oblivionsdream; it's giving Bryce and Az...]
Similarly, the final chapters of CC2 detailed Bryce's decision to use the Horn, and travel to Hel; the underworld. In doing so, she was taken to Azriel; someone who is heavily theorised to be a Prince of Hel (or connected to Hel, at the very least). As evidence of this:
The Princes of Hel are repeatedly connected to the cold. For example, when Apollion reaches out to touch Bryce, it's said that his touch was like "ice so cold it ached."
"[Apollion] reached out a hand, and Bryce flinched as it touched her. Truly touched her, ice so cold it ached."
Then Feyre touches Azriel for the first time, it's said that his skin was like "pure ice." (The similarities are uncanny!).
"But my attention drifted to Azriel, who took my still-offered hand and rose. The scars were rough against my fingers, but his skin was like ice. Pure ice."
However, this isn't the only instance. Instead, Azriel is repeatedly and consistently linked to being cold/icy/frozen. For example:
"I took Azriel’s hand, and his rough fingers squeezed mine. His skin was as cold as his face."
"There was an icy rage in Azriel I had never been able to thaw."
"Azriel’s dark breeze was different from Rhys’s. Colder. Sharper
"Azriel tucked in his wings and left without another word, stalking through the house and onto the front lawn to sit in the frigid starlight. To let the frost in his veins match the air around him."
We also know that Azriel is "different," and that even Rhys has "no explanation" for Azriel's shadowsinger abilities.
"Az is different. In a lot of ways." His tone didn't invite further questioning.
"Though the cobalt Siphons were proof that his Illyrian heritage ran true, even the rich lore of that warrior-people, my warrior-people, did not have an explanation for where the shadowsinger gifts came from."
Thus, if Azriel is indeed connected to Hel (a storyline far more prevalent in the Crescent City series than the ACOTAR series, by the way), then one could logically assume that his mate will also be someone connected to Hel.
Who do Hel's armies strike for? Bryce.
“Hel’s armies shall strike at your command, Bryce Quinlan.”
Who has Aidas (the 5th Prince of Hel) been watching over? Bryce.
"The cat’s whiskers twitched. I told you. Come find me. Her eyelids drooped—a final descent toward sleep. Why? The cat angled its head. So we can finish this."
Who is Apollion's (the 7th Prince of Hel) "greatest opponent?" Bryce.
I also find it interesting that when they meet, Apollion refers to Bryce as "Princess," and Bryce refers to Apollion as "Prince." I understand that Bryce is the Princess of the Valbaran fae, but the way they spoke in this scene felt more like Apollion and Bryce were on equal footing...
“Princess.” The voice was like Hel embodied: dark and icy and smooth.” “Prince.” Her voice shook.”
Many people in the fandom have been theorising that Prythian (and the broader ACOTAR world) is a layer of Hel. Could it be a missing 8th layer?
And if so, if Bryce and Azriel are set to rule Prythian (as High Queen and High King, as per this theory), wouldn't this make them both also Princess and Prince of the 8th layer of Hel? Ruling from the Dusk Court... the 8th court? Signified by an 8-pointed star?
(This is ultimately why I ship Bryce and Azriel: their epic story potential is unlike anything we've seen before).
As further proof of this, recall the connections between Bryce and Theia (with many believing that Bryce is a reincarnation of Theia). Although Theia's backstory is still shrouded in mystery, at present we can deduce that:
Theia lived in Prythian, and had two daughters with an unknown man.
She then travelled to another world; Midgard (unwillingly), and allied with the Princes of Hel.
She was then said to have a relationship with Aidas, a Prince of Hel (as she was said to be Aidas's "great love").
(Fun fact: Aidas is another name for Hades).
Compare to Bryce:
Bryce lives in Midgard, and is currently with Hunt.
She then travels to another world; Prythian (unwillingly), in search of the Princes of Hel.
As per this theory, she will have a relationship with Azriel, a (theorised) Prince of Hel.
History is repeating. Rigelus even notes the similarities himself:
"Rigelus sighed dramatically at their stunned silence. “This all seems very familiar, doesn’t it? A Starborn queen who allied with a Prince of Hel."
Twilight of the Gods: SJM's multiverse series?
"But Bryce won't forget about Hunt!"
"She's not going to skip off into the sunset with Azriel in just one book! All of this is too much!"
I agree. I don't believe any huge shipping revelations will be made in CC3.
Instead, things will be much more tame to begin with. Perhaps Az will be the one to guide Bryce around Prythian (and they'll figure out their matching weapons, and the origins of the Dusk Court - both together, and alongside other pivotal ACOTAR characters). I believe Bryce and Az will develop a friendship, and that will be all (sort of like Aelin and Rowan, and their dynamic in Heir of Fire).
(That's not to diminish the significance of their interactions, though. If this theory is correct, then Bryce's POV may be the first to include Azriel at the forefront - no other character within the Azriel ship wars has had this opportunity yet).
Then, if Bryce and Azriel are indeed true mates and endgame, then I think that will be explored further down the line in what I predict will be SJM's multiverse series; Twilight of the Gods (which, as per the latest SJM publishing news, seems to be looking veryyyy likely; more information here).
"Twilight" is also another name for DUSK. Given everything I have already discussed, I am sure you can see how I believe that Bryce and Azriel's story (if they are indeed endgame) will be explored in this series - Twilight of the Gods (if it does indeed come to fruition).
Interestingly, both the Crescent City and Twilight of the Gods Pinterest boards are full of Sailor Moon imagery, and it appears as if Bryce (and her powers) have also been modelled after Sailor Moon herself. Knowing this, this image (which was also found in the Twilight of the Gods Pinterest board) is particularly interesting...
Tumblr media
The sword? The multiverse-esque aesthetic?
This is fundamentally what the Bryce x Azriel ship comes down to: the promise and intrigue of a multiversal romance.
And don't you think SJM has considered this too? I find it hard to believe that SJM (the queen of fantasy romance) spent 5+ years planning out a crossover between her worlds, and didn't once stop to think about the possibility of a multiversal romantic pairing.
I mean, even back in 2015 SJM admitted to thinking about "crossover fanfic" with her own characters...
Moderator: "So, speaking of fandoms, different fandoms, um obviously you have ACOTAR, which is different from the TOG series. If both worlds could collide, which two characters would get on really well?"
SJM: <giggling>
Moderator: "Get on really well, not get it on really well" (laughs).
SJM: (laughs) "In my head I already have like, crossover fanfic (laughs). Like, is it fanfic if I'm writing it, or is it ultimate universe, canon things?
So, knowing all of this... why pair Bryce and Azriel together?
Most people in the fandom agree that Bryce and Azriel are connected in some way. I'm hoping that this post has made clear this connection even further.
But here's the thing: if we can all agree that Bryce and Azriel are connected, then why? What's the reason? And why not connect Bryce with other characters instead? Why Azriel specifically?
The two explanations I have heard are:
"Bryce and Azriel are cousins/related."
We already have the Ruhn and Rhys reveal, so why add another? I also don't see how Azriel could be related to Ember Quinlan or the Autumn King... (I also feel like Bryce's descriptions of Azriel's "tall, muscled body" and "gentle but thorough hands" is a lil weird for cousins...)
"Bryce and Azriel will be just friends."
Whilst I don't deny the likelihood of this, I also think that Bryce has the potential to become close friends with Nesta, Rhys, Feyre, Mor, Cassian (and many of the other characters). "Just friends" still wouldn't explain why SJM chose Azriel over everyone else (for example; why not make the prophecy around the Horn in Bryce's back and the remaining 3 Dread Trove items that Nesta can wield...?)
Instead, whenever there has been this much build-up or this much foreshadowing of a pairing... it's usually a sign that they are something special. Something more akin to mates - endgame.

After all, consider things from Azriel's POV.
Sure, he has been busy with Mor and Elain and Gwyn (as people often tell me in response to this theory), but what happens when a beautiful woman from another world shows up, carrying the matching sword to his most prized knife? What happens when these weapons start glowing for one another in unison?
Don't you think Azriel would think something of this?
And, don't you think that if Elain or Gwyn had a sword that was the matching half to Azriel's knife (and a significant prophecy to boot!), it would be used as irrefutable evidence that their ship is endgame...?
But what about Hunt?
It's an opinion that earns me no favours in the fandom; but despite liking Hunt, I have always been sceptical about his relationship with Bryce (and am not yet convinced that they'll be endgame). This scepticism predates CC2 (and isn't just a feeling I conjured up in the hope that Bryce x Az will be endgame, as certain people assume).
For starters, both the Asteri and Apollion need Hunt and Bryce together to operate the Horn, and this is concerning.
To put it simply, Hunt was bred (for reasons we still don't yet know). However, as a result of Hunt's breeding, he possesses power that works with the Horn. In fact, CC2 makes clear that Hunt's lightning is the best source of power to "charge up" Bryce (and more specifically, the Horn).
“Your teleporting works when your power gets charged up by energy—considering what I heard about how quickly you ran out of steam with Hypaxia, Hunt’s is the best form of it.”
Bryce has the Horn in her back.
“Don’t think for one moment that Aidas and the Prince of the Pit have forgotten the Horn in your back. That Thanatos didn’t have it in mind when you spoke to him.”
To explain it in simple math terms:
Bryce + Hunt = fully operational Horn (they are like lock + key).
Apollion + Rigelus = both really want the Horn.
Apollion + Rigelus NEED Bryce + Hunt if they want a fully operational Horn.
In fact, we see Apollion egging Bryce and Hunt on to explore their powers more, and Rigelus fully admits to luring Bryce and Hunt to the Asteri palace at the end of CC2.
"Hunt’s blood iced over. “That was why you lured us here?” he found himself demanding of the Asteri, even as he roared with outrage at Bryce’s offer. Rigelus said, “I couldn’t very well snatch you off the streets. Not such notorious, public figures."
What's more, Bryce killed Micah, and Hunt killed Sandriel. The Asteri have punished (and killed) civilians for far less than that, but not only do the Asteri keep Bryce and Hunt alive, but they actively encourage their relationship together (and no one really questions that...).
"We also trust that this favor will serve as a reminder for you and Hunt Athalar. It is our deepest wish that you remain in the city, and live out your days in peace and contentment." "Fear gleamed in Hunt’s eyes. In her own, too, Bryce was sure. Nothing was ever this easy—this simple. There had to be a catch."
I just can't help but think of Maeve. She used her power to manipulate fate, leading Rowan to believe that Lyria was his mate instead of Aelin (for her own selfish gain).
Could it be possible that the Asteri, just like Maeve, have been... meddling with mating bonds for their own agenda - to use Bryce and Hunt for the Horn?
(Recall that in her latest interview, when asked if Bryce and Hunt's mating bond was the same as Feyre and Rhys's, SJM said "pass").
This leads to my second point.
The mating bond is a little strange between Bryce and Hunt.
I know this is a contentious subject, but there are enough people in the fandom who have stated a similar opinion for it to warrant suspicion. No one ever questions Rhys and Feyre's mating bond, nor Nesta or Cassian's, nor Aelin and Rowan's. But many don't buy Bryce and Hunt's mating bond.
In part, this is likely due to the nature of how it was initiated; after only knowing each other for 5 months, Hunt suggested calling each other mates because they couldn't find another term that fits. It happened randomly, and Bryce seemed to come up with a million different excuses initially; it just felt lacklustre in comparison to other mating bond reveals.
(That's not to invalidate Bryce and Hunt's clear affection for each other though - mating bond or not, their love for one another is more than evident).
“I thought that’s what this thing between us is.” “We’ve known each other for, like, five months.” “So?” “My mom will throw a fit. She’ll say we should date for at least two years before calling ourselves mates.”
But for me personally, it comes down to Bryce and Hunt's power (and the Horn). Again, using Throne of Glass as an example, when Maeve messed with Rowan's mating bond, she admitted that she didn't suspect Rowan and Aelin were mates once they met, because their carranam bond (which involves the sharing of power, as Bryce and Hunt do...) was masking the mating bond.
"I’ll admit I did not anticipate it. That I had broken Rowan Whitethorn so thoroughly that he did not recognize his own mate—that you were so broken by your own pain you didn’t notice, either. And when the signs appeared, the carranam bond washed away any suspicion on his part that you might be his."
Instead, the only indication that Aelin and Rowan were mates, was that they could feel each other's pain.
"Maeve ignored her. “Well? When did you know?” “At Temis’s temple,” Aelin admitted, glancing to Manon. “The moment the arrow went through his shoulder. Months ago.”
This is objectively absent in Bryce and Hunt. Not only that, but in the Bone Quarter, Bryce seems to question the validity of the mating bond herself:
"Hunt's lightning had stopped. Where was he? Would a mate know, would a mate feel-"
Which again, you have to wonder; if SJM is trying to sell Bryce x Hunt as endgame to her readers, why include this?
Further, even if Bryce and Hunt are mates, we don't yet know how this works across worlds. Given that the Cauldron (supposedly) assigns mating bonds in Prythian, and Bryce's "true world" is also Prythian, does Bryce have an additional Cauldron-assigned mating bond in that world too...?
Maybe that aligns with this tweet from SJM:
Tumblr media
The Oracle.
In CC1, Hunt visits the Oracle, and she tells him to "keep well away from Bryce Quinlan."
"Do yourself a favour, Orion Athalar, and keep well away from Bryce Quinlan."
The Oracle could presumably see into Hunt's future, and could see whether he and Bryce live happily ever after. If this was the case, and the Oracle could indeed see such a happy outcome, then why would the Oracle say such a thing...? Why warn Hunt like that?
Similarly in CC1, Aidas reveals to Bryce that although the Oracle was blinded during her visit all those years ago... he wasn't. Aidas was there too, and he saw Bryce's future.
"Aidas had nearly vanished into nothing when he added, the words a ghost slithering through the room, "The Oracle did not see. But I did."
Yet in that exact same scene, Aidas turns to Hunt and has no idea who he is, asking "who are you?"
Hunt kept perfectly still as Aidas studied her. Then his eyes registered Hunt. He blinked—once. As if he had not really marked his presence until this moment. As if he hadn’t cared to notice, with Bryce before him. Hunt tucked away that fact, just as Aidas murmured, “Who are you.”
Thus, if Aidas has seen Bryce's future, and Bryce and Hunt are indeed endgame (and he is in her future)... then why didn't Aidas recognise Hunt?
Hunt's future.
If this theory is correct, and given that we have two beings with foresight (the Oracle and Aidas) hinting at Bryce and Hunt's ominous future... then what could possibly happen to Hunt
Theory 1) Hunt may die.
This theory has been around even since the HOEAB days, and is well-known by most (so I won't expand on it too much). However, the basic premise of it boils down to Hunt's birth name, Orion, and Orion being famously killed (often by his lover) in mythology. Perhaps this also explains the Oracle's warning to him.
Recall also the quote repeated again and again (often by Hunt);
"Memento Mori. Remember that you will die. They now seemed more of a promise than the mild reminder from the Meat Market."
Similarly, knowing what happened to Sam in Throne of Glass, I find this parallel to Bryce and Hunt a little uncanny (and is exactly what we mean when we talk about death flags...).
[Sam and Aelin]: "I can wait," he said thickly, kissing her collarbone. "We have all the time in the world." Maybe he was right. And spending all the time in the world with Sam ... that was a treasure worth paying anything for."
[Bryce and Hunt]: "Assuming I live through it, you mean." "Assuming you live through taking on the Archangels and Asteri, what then?" "I don't know." He gave her a half smile. "Maybe you and I can figure it out, Quinlan. We'll have centuries to do it."
2. Hunt may become an Asteri weapon; an (unwilling) villain.
In fact, it has recently been theorised (such as in this post here) that Hunt may already have acted as an Asteri weapon in the past, and may have even had a part to play in Danika's death. As unbelievable as this may sound, consider these two quotes.
In HOEAB, Hunt remarks that his victims always said the same words; "please."
“Please.” It was always the same word. The only word people tended to say when the Umbra Mortis stood before them.
Then, this is the only audio we hear of Danika right before she dies:
"And then someone was roaring—a feral wolf’s roar. “Please, please—” The words were cut off. But the hall camera’s audio wasn’t."
To that people would say "Hunt would never!" And rightly so. However, consider that:
Hunt didn't know Bryce when this occurred.
Hunt was already tasked with killing one of Bryce's friends; Fury. Twice. The only reason it didn't happen was because someone higher up halted the orders.
"Micah had even ordered Hunt to kill her. Twice. But she had too many high-powered allies. Some, it was whispered, on the Imperial Senate. So both times, Micah had decided that the fallout over the Umbra Mortis turning Fury Axtar into veritable toast would be more trouble than it was worth."
However, regardless of whether this theory is true or not (as sure, perhaps the wording could be coincidence), one cannot deny the connection between the names of Hunt (Orion) and the Asteri; all named after stars and/or constellations.
In fact, Sirius (the 7th Asteri), is known as Orion's hunting dog in mythology.
And Rigel (as in Rigelus), is the brightest star in the Orion constellation.
Tumblr media
Consider also Rigelus's words to Hunt; "I thought we were friends, Orion," and something just seems... off.
(Though, I'd be happy to be proven wrong, as Hunt is one of my favourite SJM males. Just because I think an awful thing could happen, doesn't mean I want it to happen).
What about Gwynriel/Elriel?
Another topic that I won't touch on in too much depth, as I'm sure that most people are already familiar with the points for and against these ships.
The only thing I will say is that things change. What ships appear to be canon or strongly foreshadowed in one book can totally change in the next. SJM has said as much herself (as outlined in the FAQ section on her personal website):
"Will [my favourite couple] be endgame?" "No spoilers! In all seriousness, while I do have ideas for all my currently contracted books, I would never guarantee any plot points or pairings until each book is written. I've been surprised by where characters have taken me before!"
But we also know this is true based on the Throne of Glass ship wars that raged on back in the day. If we were to time-travel back to 2012 and 2013 (when the first two TOG books were released), we'd see people arguing as to whether Aelin (Celeana) would end up with Chaol or Dorian. There was no third option.
And then in the third book, Rowan was introduced. But even then people denied the possibility of his romance with Aelin, instead siding with Chaol, with arguments such as:
"Rowan already has a mate!"
"Rowan and Aelin are probably just related and nothing more!"
"Rowan and Aelin are from two different kingdoms, it would never work. Chaol is back home in Rifthold waiting for her!"
(Sound familiar...?)
Tumblr media
It was also argued that Chaol and Aelin would be endgame instead, given the mate-adjacent language that was used between them:
"Far inside of her, she found a golden chain that bound them together."
"The rest of the world quieted... she looked at him and realised she was home."
"She knew his every move and he knew hers, as though they'd been dancing this waltz together all their lives."
"It somehow felt as if it had always been Chaol, even from the beginning, even before they'd ever met."
But nope -- in the third book, Aelin stumbled into a foreign land and came face to face with Rowan; her true, fated mate.
In fact, this speaks to a certain SJM pattern I have noticed:
Aelin is forced to leave Rifthold for Wendlyn (oh no!)... but then she meets Rowan.
Chaol and Nesryn are forced to leave Rifthold for the Southern Continent (oh no!)... but then they meet Yrene and Sartaq.
Feyre is forced to leave the Spring Court for the Night Court (oh no!)... but then she meets Rhys.
Nesta is forced to leave the human lands for the faerie lands (oh no!)... but then she meets Cassian.
Now, Bryce has been forced to leave Midgard for Prythian (oh no!)... and she falls right in front of Azriel. He "gently" blindfolds her, grabs her hand, chucks her over his shoulder, and their matching weapons start glowing "in answer" to each other... and this is supposedly just a crackship?
And I get it; there's already Bryce and Hunt. And Azriel and Gwyn. And Azriel and Elain. However, I do think it's interesting that at present, the two biggest debates within the fandom are:
Are Bryce and Hunt truly mates/endgame?
Will Gwynriel or Elriel be endgame?
If any of these ships were a slam-dunk guarantee... these debates just simply wouldn't exist. Point is, with SJM (and especially with the multiverse opening up)... the possibilities are endless.
And, the promise of Bryce and Azriel is just one of these possibilities, but it's my favourite one of all.
After all, stars cannot shine without darkness.
(P.S. Some of these points were first identified by my friends - so credit and a huge thank you to them! ❤️)

Head doodles for my tf continuity! I haven't come up with a good name yet so it's just Transformers: Crungus for now lololol!
My rants about the designs will be under the cut!
Chromia's design is comprised of straight, parallel lines to convey her straightforward and blunt personality with a "cute" periwinkle to contrast it! Overall, it's simple and to the point. Just as she'd like it :)
Bumblebee!!! OH EM GEE I LOVED MAKING HIM. Erm. Anyways! I based him off of old timey delivery boys and rubber hose mascots with a bowtie-shirt collar neck thingy! His nose wasn't intentional, that was just a result of the brush i was using but i love how it looks! Kind of like a classic cartoon nose (once *again* pushing his inspiration!) Something i realised after finishing him is that the gap in between the cap and horn looks like an antenna from the side! I think an australian honey mascot was floating around in my mind while sketching
Airachnid's probably the most similar to the design she was based off of, just simplified with delicate jewellery draped from her maleficent horns to push a vampiric theme, if that's the right word. I think I'll add a couple more bits of web jewellery to give the impression of a veil!! You might notice the line going from her mouth to her chin... well lets justr say... she has that gawk gawk 6000 ;))) Her palette is also VERY meaningful... You can put it together if you think about what colours cybertronian culture associates with death
WELL!!! I HOPED YOU LIKED THIS HEEHEE THIS WAS REALLY FUN TO WRITE AND DRAW AND I'D LOVE LOVE LOVE TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS!!!

You're The Closest To Heaven I'll Ever Be - Chapter 24
Splitting the high lord's meeting into two parts
Their delegate arrived beneath the dusky pink skies of the Dawn Court, once he’d inspected the area for a trap. The heat hit Azriel like a slap. On the short walk up the polished, marble stairs leading to the palace, his leathers stuck to his skin.
Whether Nesta intended to or not, she kept close by. Occasionally, her elbow knocked against him as she pinched her skirts to keep from tripping. Twice, she stumbled – not from the skirts, but her gaze was fixed upon the soft clouds tinged by the rosy dawn and gilded with dawn’s light.
‘Look at the palace,’ Azriel murmured.
Nesta turned her face upwards then stopped walking. Her lips parted at the sight of the near-opalescent golden stone. It was littered with balconies and verandas that were linked by bridges. Periwinkle flowers clambered up the many towers.
He couldn’t read the emotion on her face. There was so much to their world that she hadn’t experienced yet. He hoped, one day, Nesta would see it all with him.
An attendant wearing the gold and ruby livery of the court saw them to their rooms which were reached by a spiralling staircase. The too-near edge fell away into warm-coloured rock below with clusters of pale peonies growing between the cracks.
Azriel fell back to be closer to Nesta. She was already trembling from the height without even stepping onto the first one.
‘I’ll be with you,’ he said softly, as the others disappeared from view.
Nesta braced herself with a stiff nod then took the first steps as close as possible to the inside as she could without banging her head on the ones above. With his wings splayed out, just in case, Azriel stayed close by and kept his hand on her spine for support. But she did well. Nesta forced herself on without ever looking over the edge. It was how she approached everything.
‘Your rooms,’ the attendant said, with a deep bow at the waist. ‘As requested, the meeting will be held in the great chamber in fifteen minutes.’
‘And how do we reach it?’ drawled Rhys.
The attendant gestured to the left of the corridor that they were in. ‘It is the first door.’
Fantastic, Azriel thought. They were put there to be spied upon. To get to other rooms, everybody would need to pass theirs. It was a sign that they were not truly welcomed there.
There was little time to gather themselves. Rhys had already used his powers to discover that winter was the only seasonal court in attendance. Day had also arrived, so Helion would no doubt be charming Thesan.
Azriel looked to Nesta. She was pale like the magnitude of her decision to come with them had only just landed. He tried to catch her eye, but she was fussing with her skirts, ensuring they were sleek about her legs. Instead, he sent a shadow to coil around her wrist. She didn’t look at him still, but her thumb brushed against its spiralling body in answer.
The chamber had been arranged so that deep-cushioned oak chairs made a circle in the heart of the room around the shallow, circular reflection pool which was carved into the polished, marble floor. The sun streamed through the open archways, catching the dark water which was laden with pink and gold water lilies. Fish darted beneath, hiding in the shadows. Platters of food had been lain out between the wisteria-twined pillars although nobody had dared touched a bite. The cured meats, pastries and garlands of fruits lay undisturbed with the memory of Amarantha still fresh in everybody’s minds.
‘Welcome,’ greeted Thesan, eyes flitting to them all. ‘Or, since you’ve called this meeting, perhaps you should be doing the welcoming?’
A faint smile touched Rhys’ lips. ‘I may have requested the meeting, Thesan, but you were the one gracious enough to offer up your beautiful residence.’
The other pair came to preen like a pair of peacocks puffing up their feathers. Kallias had barely moved his chin an inch before Mor was squealing loud enough to draw the room’s attention. She flung herself at Viviane. Their conversation was rapid and neither minded as they cut into each other’s speech.
Never one to deny attention, Helion strode over. His entourage matched their own for size – and power. He threw himself into the throng, dominating the conversation with his words.
Azriel simply kept his eyes on Nesta. Kept close. Let shadows twine their hands together.
Then, Helion noticed her. Like a fucking wolf scenting a lamb. His attention lingered on her. It was too long to be considered polite. But Nesta stared right back at him. Unruffled. Unimpressed.
Good.
‘Who is your guest?’
‘She is my sister and our emissary to the human lands,’ said Feyre, stepping back so she could stand at Nesta’s side. ‘And she will tell her story when the others are here.’
‘She is fae.’
‘No shit,’ muttered Viviane.
Thesan angled his head slightly, inspecting Nesta. ‘Who made her?’
Nesta surveyed them all, one by one. He was wrong to think of her as a lamb. Nesta had never been a quivering, meek thing that hid. She stood tall, not a flicker of fear in her eyes as she said, ‘Hybern did.’
‘They threw her in the Cauldron,’ Feyre explained. ‘Along with my other sister, Elain. After the High Priestess Ianthe and Tamlin sold out Prythian and my family to them.’
Helion’s eyes blazed like a forge. ‘That’s a heavy accusation to make – especially of your former lover.’
Feyre took a seat then folded her hands in her lap. ‘It is not an accusation. We were all there. And now we’re going to do something about it.’
***
Despite the tardiness of the remaining courts, the frost did not abate in the room, even as attendants carried platters around the room of food and wine was offered. Only when the Dawn Court delegate began eating did other courts follow suit although Nesta could not. Her stomach churned with worry and adding food to the mix seemed too great a risk. Azriel did not spare her a glance; the focused spy-master had become his shield, but often she felt a shadow twining itself around her ankle beneath her skirt as if that was the most he could offer in comfort without openly revealing their bond. One male who was unable to take her eyes from Nesta was the high lord of the Day Court. Nesta ignored him. He watched her constantly like a hawk. His gaze trailed her fingers when she twisted them in her skirts, her tongue when she traced her lips. The stare was enough to burn, but she refused to acknowledge him. To acknowledge any of them.
When the Summer Court arrived, Nesta thought the atmosphere could not be more tense. Kallias, the Winter Court high lord, had grown even colder. Then, the Autumn Court arrived. Morrigan’s easy smile dried up. Beron was slender-faced and brown haired, his wife stood beside him, glancing briefly to Helion before averting her gaze. His sons sneered at the room; each one wore rich clothing gilded with golden threads or brocade vests. They were by far the most elegantly dressed, Nesta had to admit.
‘Enough,’ murmured the eldest one, Eris, to bring his younger brothers into line.
With the tension mounting, Thesan cut in. ‘Rhysand, you have called this meeting. Pushed us to gather sooner than we intended. Now would be the time to explain what is so urgent.’
Rhysand blinked, slowly. ‘Surely the invading armies landing on our shores explain enough.’
‘So you have called us to do what, exactly?’ Helion challenged, bracing his muscled forearms on his gleaming thighs. ‘Raise a unified army?’
‘Among other things. We-’
It was exactly like that night in the cottage when the door had shattered and the freezing cold had roared at them. Like a crack of lightning, as vicious as a spring storm, Tamlin winnowed into the chamber and smiled like a wolf.
Only the soothing stroke of a shadow against her ankle kept Nesta in the room. There had been so many fae in her life since that day, but he – the High Lord of Spring – had left his mark. Elain had been crying in a ball on the floor. Father had not moved from his cradle by the fire, too shocked to speak. And Nesta had tried and tried to put the ruined door back onto its hinges even as the rain blew in because that seemed the only normality after he stole Feyre.
Kallias asked, ‘Why are you here, Tamlin?’
Tamlin’s claw dug into the wood, puncturing deep even as his voice remained mild. Nesta knew what those claws could do.  ‘I bartered access to my lands to get back the woman I love from a sadist who plays with minds as if they are toys. I meant to fight Hybern—to find a way around the bargain I made with the king once she was back. Only Rhysand and his cabal had turned her into one of them. And she delighted in ripping open my territory for Hybern to invade. All for a petty grudge—either her own or her … master’s.’
Strange words, Nesta thought. But, something in them tugged at Nesta’s attention. Feyre had returned for this one. Had sworn she loved him. They’d painted together beneath the sun as Feyre told her everything. But it had been Rhysand who she returned with. What had happened in those weeks beneath the mountain? Nobody ever mentioned them as if to do so was to spill a secret too terrible for the world to know.
‘You don’t get to rewrite the narrative,’ Feyre breathed. ‘You don’t get to spin this to your advantage.’
Tamlin only angled his head at Rhysand. ‘When you fuck her, have you ever noticed that little noise she makes right before she climaxes?’
Nesta felt herself go still, appalled by his words. Hearts were easily broken things, but to parade such an intimate moment was a low blow. She stared at the male, hate burning in her eyes. Nobody else was smiling except the High Lord of the Autumn Court.
A voice as cold as death spoke beside Nesta, ‘Be careful how you speak about my High Lady.’
Azriel’s words settled around the room. She felt a surge of pride that he had been the one to defend her sister. Amongst the high lords who looked upon him with a mixture of wariness and revulsion, it had been Azriel who stepped up for Feyre.
Tamlin only laughed. ‘They peddle tales of defending our land and peace. And yet she came to my lands and laid them bare for Hybern. She took my High Priestess and warped her mind—after she shattered her bones for spite. And if you are asking yourself what happened to that human girl who went Under the Mountain to save us … Look to the male sitting beside her. Ask what he stands to gain—what they stand to gain from this war, or lack of it. Would we fight Hybern, only to find ourselves with a Queen and King of Prythian? She’s proved her ambition—and you saw how he was more than happy to serve Amarantha to remain unscathed.’
Rhys let out his own dark laugh as if the words meant nothing. ‘Well played, Tamlin. You’re learning.’
The High Lord of Spring looked at Rhysand a moment longer then dismissed him. His gaze went to Kallias. ‘You asked why I’m here? I might ask the same of you.’ He jerked his chin at the High Lord of Winter, at Viviane—the few other members of their retinue who had remained silent. ‘You mean to tell me that after Under the Mountain, you can stomach working with him?’
What had happened, Nesta wondered, to cast such a shadow on Rhysand? What had happened to her sister? She caught the uncomfortable glances passed between delegates, the neutral expressions on Cassian and Morrigan’s faces. Colour botted on Feyre’s cheeks, but she held her chin up in defiance.
It was Rhysand who spoke, breaking the terse silence. ‘I had no involvement in that. None.’
Kallias’s eyes flared like blue flame. ‘You stood beside her throne while the order was given.’
His skin paled. ‘I tried to stop it.’
‘Tell that to the parents of the two dozen younglings she butchered,’ Kallias spat. ‘That you tried.’
They bartered more words at Rhysand – ones that Nesta didn’t understand the context of. Whatever had occurred under the mountain had been an awful secret. The reluctance to befriend Rhysand seemed to have valid reasoning though. She watched him scramble for words, to defend and explain actions. Even Feyre jumped to his defence, placing a hand on his arm and saying, ‘I believe you.’
‘Says the woman,’ countered Beron Vanserra, ‘who gave an innocent girl’s name in her stead for Amarantha to butcher as well.’
Nesta went cold. She leaned forwards in her chair trying to gage Feyre’s reaction, but her sister had gone pale. Her fingers tightened on Rhysand’s arm.
Clare.
Clare Beddor.
Had Feyre given her friend’s name? Was Feyre the reason the Beddors were murdered?
Her ears were ringing. She could smell the smoke from that morning. Feel the cold ground on her bare feet as she ran through the village to the smouldering ruin. Watched in numb disbelief as bodies were pulled from the wreckage. Only four bodies. A mother. A father. Two younger brothers. No Clare. She remembered Elain pulling a threadbare blanket on her shoulders and guiding her back home before the village could call her a madwoman for going without shoes.
Her Clare. Clare who carried the burden of her family as much as Nesta did. Clare who had been her friend without money and with it. Clever, quiet Clare who yearned for so much more than life had offered them.
‘Hybern turned my sisters fae after your bitch of a priestess sold them out!’
Nesta felt the attention in the room turn to her, but she was elsewhere. She was in a field with Clare, counting clouds, wishing they were on a boat to the Continent where they could be so much more. Clare’s fingers entwined with hers as they spoke of the boys in the village – the lack of prospects that the village offered. Clare who had seized her by the cheeks and kissed her squarely on the mouth one day within an orchard, leaving them both in fits of giggles. She had been Nesta’s only friend. Her Clare.
The shadow on her ankle pulled tight, sensing her distress. Nesta did not hear the argument raging around her between the High Lord of Spring and her sister. Her sister had murdered Clare Beddor.

: ̗̀➛ The Astonishing World Beyond the Veil
With the night cast in white and blue light the fairy of autumn and spring sprang up into the air, wings so fair they glittered and shone as they carried him up, up, and up. A split long-tailed fish with a moustache and a beard flew past with wings of pearly black, and it scattered as baubles of blue and green fluttered in the air like glowing insects.
But insects they are not, though not even Lumin has learned of what they are yet. Though he may see far more than other fairies, he’s yet to learn what it all is. A giant spider with round eyes and a frowning mouth hung from a cloud, but quickly it retreated as Lumin caught sight of it.
“Lumin.”
Ah, his soul’s song came near and Lumin turned to lock eyes with saddened periwinkle. No, not saddened, only downturned, but not sad. A dress of peach and pearls waved gently in the wind as wings of lovely pink fluttered silently, carrying the fairy who so long ago came to cradle Lumin’s restless soul within pale, clawed fingers. Wisps of silver white swam around Mimble as she approached, invisible to her eye, but as clear as night to Lumin.
“Mimble,” said Lumin, voice growing ever softer at the sight of his soul’s song. “You so rarely follow me when the night is cast in white and blue,” he added and came closer to trail gentle touches over freckled cheeks and full hips.
Mimble’s eyes closed for a moment, long enough for her freckles to shimmer and dance across her bones as Lumin caressed them. They stilled once Mimble returned to look at him again.
“Sleep evaded me after you left,” said Mimble, hands trailing feathery touches over Lumin’s arms, shoulders, neck, and chest before coming to rest by his narrow waist. “Will you travel again so soon? Must the clouds have you again already?” she asked, downturned eyes looking up at him in longing and love.
“Forgive me, my song,” said Lumin and leaned in to kiss her cheeks, her forehead, and her nasal ridge. “The seas above the clouds still call to me, urging me to find out more of their secrets. I wish I could show it to you, but I have not yet discovered how to reveal what now only my eyes can see.”
Mimble smiled, admiring yet silently grieved in its beauty. “The world beyond the veil?” asked she, voice a mere whisper as the wisps brushed across her cheeks and skull, ever unknown to her. “You speak of such fantastical worlds that not even fairies can see, and I wonder why they remain hidden from us.”
“Not hidden; forgotten,” said Lumin, and he rested his forehead against hers as his arms cradled around her, allowing her wings to falter and lay down as he held them both up, far, far into the glowing blue night skies. “Perhaps I am only to see what has been lost for so long, or…” he hummed a gentle laugh, “perhaps I am to reveal it to us. Fairies may have been in the world for a long time, but some things and places existed long before us, and I think they want us to see them, to know about them and to explore and revel in what beauties they hold.”
“It sounds so lovely,” said Mimble, eyes partly closed as she shared her warmth with Lumin. “I just wished they wouldn’t take you from me so oft. I am ever selfish in my want to have you by me, but I cannot help it, Lumin,” she added, and her smile was so mournful it moved even Lumin close to tears. “I yearn for nothing but your presence, my love. My soul sings in joy whenever you return home to me, yet I also feel that same delight whenever you speak of your adventures. Your happiness at what you see and hear… How can I not be fond of it? It is what you are, I know this, and yet I cannot help my longing,” said she, and she kissed him as gentle waves of clouds swayed and crashed like a great ocean above them, silver and blue in their nightly colours.
Lumin closed his eyes, shutting it out as all he wanted was to feel Mimble; his Mimble. The world beyond the veil could wait, for now.

hogwarts fics where all of draco’s friends know he likes hermione but draco doesn’t realize it yet
A Little Something New - GreenInk_RedLetters - T, 14 chapters - “Oh? You taking a pledge for my protection, Malfoy?” She teased. He was smirking and hell but it did something to her. “I believe… They call that a knight in shining armor.” He fingered his chin. “Got an opening, Granger?” After a string of bad dates and unexpected work issues, Hermione Granger doesn’t have time for her best friend’s request to set her up on a blind date. She’s done with men wasting her time and bleh having a total lack of ambition. Draco Malfoy doesn’t expect much out of life, and he certainly doesn’t expect the Golden Girl of all people to come barging into his life again. She hates him, doesn’t she? Or is it simply his best friend playing matchmaker again? Dramione story with a myriad of misunderstandings, a matchmaking Theo Nott, alcohol-induced dinner parties, and light-hearted banter.
Friendly Interference By: cleotheo - T, 5 Chapters - When Draco refuses to ask Hermione out his best friend, Blaise Zabini steps in and vows to bring the pair together. Will Blaise be successful in getting the couple together or will he ruin any chance they have of happiness with his interference? Short five part story.
Big Dick Energy by louiseob - E, 9 chapters - After months of successfully keeping Ginny Weasley away from happy hours with her coworkers, Hermione finally relents and allows her to tag along. Unfortunately, her crassest friend wants nothing more than to embarrass Hermione and (hopefully) get her and Draco sodding Malfoy into bed together one and for all.
mischief-makers (up to no good) - riddikulus_puff - T, one-shot - Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy had been a couple since the beginning of their eighth year at Hogwarts but spilt up pretty quickly after leaving school because of pathetic arguments between the two of them. But their group of friends had enough of their constant complaining about missing the other person. So, that was how Hermione and Draco ended up forced to go on a road trip to the beaches of Cornwall with Blaise Zabini, Ginny Weasley, Harry Potter and Theodore Nott, with Pansy Parkinson and Neville Longbottom also joining them. It was like the plot from a crappy romantic comedy that Hermione had absorbed in the early weeks of her breakup. But, their friends had a plan. Project get Dramione back together! A one-shot for the 2023 Year of the OTP Fic Fest
Blind Date by zarahjoyce - G, one-shot - Harry, Ron, and Pansy - three people stupid enough to set-up Draco Malfoy on a blind date with Hermione Granger. What could possibly go wrong?
Blue Blouse - Shanxnoir - E, 2 chapters - For fucks sake why did she have to wear that colour? Every week day was a different colour blouse, but Friday’s were different. Something about seeing her in that perfect periwinkle shirt had him coming undone.
Two Desks Apart -  msmerlin - T, 6 chapters - Draco used routine to work through his emotional baggage post-war, using a strict set of rules to regulate his once out of control life. His parents and friends express concern over his stagnant life in the form of setting him up on blind dates in hopes of helping Draco find ‘the one’. Little did they all know, the witch who captured his heart had been just two desk apart from him for the past two years.

Dumb Krum… i love you too!
Part 9
TW: drinking
SERIES MASTERLIST
——
In a hurry you arrived at the entrance to the Slytherin dormitories. Opening the passage there waited for you Fred. Looking up at you, as you were practically shining. Your hair looked stunning and the golden pearls were making you more radiant. Your looks were bit different too. He loved the way your lips were almost seducing him. The red suited you better than he would hoped so. Your formal dress hugged you just right and the fur cape were a nice touch to the ensemble. He just looked at you, blushing mess and his troughs were all over the place.
“Oh my Merlin” he said and kissed your hand “pardon my rudeness beautiful lady, but you look like the most radiant and pretty gem in the universe” Blood rushed to your cheeks at his remarks and charms. Still bit like of you wanted those words to be from Viktor but this was also very heart warming.
Arriving hand in hand to hallway where rest of the champions and their chosen were waiting. You looked at Viktor and Hermione. She looked stunning. The periwinkle dress made her features pop. Viktor was staring at his best friend. She looked so different right now. But in a good way. In a way that made is heart swell with emotions. “Ehm now then” said a new voice in corridor, coming to light there stood McGonagal. “You all will be entering the hall in this order firstly will go in the Hogwarts champions then Beubatoux champions and lastly Durmstrang champions. Please note that everyone already entered and you will have the first dance. Please do not embarrass yourself or your house” she said and with a knowing look addressed at Fred she made her way back. As she said you did. Entering the enchanted room where everything was shiny and sparkly you looked straight ahead. Dominant stare as you squeezed Fred’s arm.
“I hope you will have unforgettable time” he said with a smile and bowed before me. “Same goes for you Freddie” I smirked at him as he pulled me to dance. The melody swiftly turned around the Great hall as I became engulfed in the dance. The charming eyes piercing through me. The time was almost stopped. The dance was magnificent and entertaining as slowly everyone began dancing along the champions. Looking into Fred’s eyes he looked deep into yours. You two were moving in a sync and very gracefully. After some time and some photos Fred said: “I will bring you some refreshments” and kissed my hand at last he disappeared in the crowd. I went to greet some of my friends having fun and chatting in the middle of the crowd of their fans. “Artie-“ he spun to my detention and greeted me all cheerful. “Oh! Y/n!” He said and whispered to my ear. “I have sneaked in some of your favourite booze” I punched his shoulder “come let get this party started!” He cheered. “The left bottom of the snow, 12 o’clock” With a heavy sigh I eventually add to the enthusiasm with a smile. “Y/n?” There was Fred with a few drinks. “Freddie~ I have a great idea” I smirked. “Let’s get this party started!” I said as I dragged him to the secret stash. Artie and I have made this system where we would use elements of direction, and colours or things to say where to look. “Make sure none is looking” I said to Fred as he watched me. I came to the last table in white table cloth and went beneath it to find bottle of Tounge tying lemon squash, some fire whiskey and muggle vodka. Piking it up I walked towards my date. “Sooo do you wanna party?” I said as i shook the bottle.
Fred smirked at you and eagerly nodded. “Bloody hell you are amazing!” With this you were the main reason the ball was on fire! Fred and you spiked the punch bowl and let that ball become a party. You enjoyed yourselfs, the booze making your nerves calm and allowing you to be more relaxed and in a party mood. The Wierd Sisters played splendid music and all of you were having great time.
After few dances with Fred you relaxed with him on the side. “Y/nn!” Slurred a voice you instantly recognised. “Vik?” You turned around just to see him smiling at you lovingly. You could tell he was a bit drunk by the way his eyes dropped and the way he dragged out your name. But to you in that moment it was sexy. “Y/nn” he draped his hand over your shoulders. Fred didn’t liked this too and showed him aside. “Look man I believe she is my date” he said. Viktor however didn’t back down. They started to bicker and your drunken mind started to race. Well this will be awesome….

*looks at you with big wet eyes* transfem sirius hcs please🥺also what do you think her fashion sense is like
*looks at you right back with even bigger wet eyes* HIIIII! Im so sorry for getting back to you so late, please forgive me, I've been very busy and didn't even notice I had this ask
⭐️ Sirius Sundays ⭐️
Here are my transfem Sirius headcannons! (I love her so much), (I hope you don't mind that I included this in my Sirius Sunday thing);
Her style:
I think it probably wouldn't stray too far from what she'd already wear pre transition; for wizards skirts and dresses aren't that far off from robes so styles of clothing wouldn't really feel too different for her.
In terms of muggle clothing style specifically she'd still wear a lot of boot cut jeans and bell bottoms, a lot of band shirts and her leather jacket, she'd probably just style them a little differently, now with things in her hair, more jewellery and makeup and stuff.
However, I do also think she would raid Lily, Mary, and Marlenes wardrobes to find things that she likes. I think once Sirius came out, the girls would have basically adopted her as their protégé, teaching her anything and everything she wants to know about girlhood.
I think she'd like Mary's wardrobe best, I always hc Mary as a very fashionable person who likes to experiment and be bold with her outfits, and Sirius would love the sparkly dresses and bold colours stuffed into her wardrobe, and she'd have the best time trying everything on and doing a little fashion show for her friends.
I think as well she would wear a lot of skirts. She'd like the way they feel, how flowy they are and how cute they look, and they help her pass better in the beginnings of her transition, and also she knows she's got amazing legs so she doesn't mind showing them off a bit (showing them off to one specific person, more like).
I think, even though she'd try to pass more with typically "feminine colours", blue would be her best colour. Pretty shades of dark iridescence and periwinkles as well, she'd have lots of dresses, skirts, and coats in various shades of blue, and they'd always make her feel most pretty and feminine. Especially some blue eyeshadow or eyeliner. James would call her new penchant for blue a betrayal and tell her to go join Ravenclaw for being such a traitor (and then secretly tell her she's pretty and looks great at the same time).
Tall girls being even taller in high heels is a weekness of mine, and if I knew Sirius in real life, she'd abuse that weakness. I think anytime theres a party or a fancy event on, she'd put a pair of high heels on. They'd make her feel so pretty and feminine, and she'd be so tall. At first she refused to wear any shoe that wasn't flat on the foot because "girls are meant to be shorter than guys, right?" but then everyone told her that was stupid and peer pressured her into a high heels, and made sure she felt amazing in them.
In public, Sirius is very amendment on passing. She's done her research and always wears the most feminine clothing in muggle areas, wears the girls uniform to school, puts on eyeliner and lipstick, pitches her voice up, etc etc, and it's very important to her that she passess. With her friends she relaxes a little, when it's just them in a private area (esp just the marauders because they've seen the most over her over the years and she knows they don't really care), but she still pitches her voice up and wears typically feminine "colours" or "clothing". However, when with James or at home with just the Potters, she doesn't try at all; she'll often use her natrual voice, doesn't ever try to tuck or wear anything really feminine unless she just feels like doing so, she'll let her stubble come in from time to time even, until annoys her, and they never make her feel bad for it. James still calls her gorgeous every day, and Effie and Flea still call her their daughter. They make her feel extremely comfortable.
I think she'd love wearing her hair in double plaits, she'd look so cute like that and she likes how feminine it is, and it would also make her feel like the little girl inside her is coming alive, because all through the first and second years of school, all the girls in their year would have worn double plaits to class. So not only would it be cool and cute, it would be a way for her to feel like she's experiencing the girlhood she missed out on when she was younger. (Maybe James learnt how to braid so he could do it for her before bed if she's tired, and in the mornings so she could do her makeup and stuff at the same time so they wouldn't be late to work / class)
I also think she'd go through a phase where she'd grow her hair as long as possible just to see how long she can get it. Her record is just past her arse and she's very proud of it.
She'd love playing around and experimenting with hairstyles as well. She'd 100% go through bad phases of strange styles and all of her friends just have to grin and bear it, because if a very high side pony is what makes her feel best this week, than they're not going to crush her soul, they know she'll grow out of it soon enough. She does have taste afterall.
She'd get so pissed off about the lack of pockets in everything when she starts shopping for muggle womens clothes, and you know the minuet she finds a dress with pockets she'd show it off to everyone. She'd get so excited and wear the dress for like a month straight, no fucks given, only pockets.
She'd practice makeup looks on the Marauders all the time. James is her most willing model, of course, he'd let her do anything she wanted, but sometimes she'd want to practice on someone with a similar complexion to her, or with a different eye or lip shape or whatever, or sometimes if James isn't around to model. She'd wrangle Remus and Pete into getting their makeup done by her, and they argue the whole time even though they secretly enjoyed it a lot.
Before she came out to Effie and Flea - maybe especially if she was still living at 12GWP at the time she figured it out - and she started experimenting with her gender to figure it out, she wanted to try womens underwear and stuff, but she didn't want to be seen / caught buying it when she was still perceived as a bloke, so she made a bunch herself. She cut her breifs into knickers shape and made makeshift braletts out of old shirts and pyjamas (she had to learn how to sew for this too), and one day Effie or Flea came along to do her washing and found all the janky looking underwear and just went to her like "right, good effort darling but I'm taking you shopping for some real undergarments that actually fits you properly an doesn't look like it went through a blender".
Hc's about her transition;
I feel like she only figured out she was trans later in life, probably after she ran away to the Potters and started to really work on becoming her best self, or possibly just figured it out right before she ran away, and that was the kind of final reason to do it because she knew she had a better chance of acceptance with them <3
I am a tall Sirius truther till the day I die, so obviously she'd be a very very tall woman and this would make Marlene very jealous, and she'd constantly tease Marlene for being so short.
You already know that James is the first person she told, and if this is all happening in the 70s/80s, he probably would have been a little confused by the concept at first and didn't understand it at all. He would have never heard of transexuality and people swapping genders, but he would have still accepted her immediately. He would have asked so many questions, not only to make sure he was doing all the right things to make sure Sirius felt comfortable, proud, and happy throughout her transition, but also because he was extremely curious. He would have done a lot of research for her. (If Sirius wants something, Sirius gets it, so if she wants to be called she and a woman now, James is going to give 110% effort).
All of her friends have had a crush on her at one point, no matter their sexuality (eg pre transition + post), and she's pretty indifferent to people having feelings or attraction towards her, doesn't really care about it at all, but she does like to brag about it with her friends. And she loves to hold it over their heads lol.
I think if she came out whilst still in Hogwarts, she would have just gaslit everyone into thinking she was never a bloke. She'd get all her friends in on it, along with McGonagall of course, and anytime someone asked why she was wearing the girls uniform everyone would just be like "she's a girl wtf are you going on about? no, she was never a bloke, do you need me to take you to the sick wing?"
I think as well, after she came out, she would have gotten a lot closer with the girls. She'd love the way that girls all talk to each other, she'd love the constant drama and gossip, and she'd love how in touch and normal they are about their own emotions. Of course, Sirius has always felt she can talk to James about everything, and she does, but she likes how she can have deeper conversations more casually with the girls and in a group setting and stuff. She'd love how they always immediately validate her feelings and give her proper good advice and can relate to her problems in their own ways. But James would get extremely jealous of this and always try to intervene on girls night - it would never work, but Sirius promised to give him the best gossip when she gets home.
Back to Sirius being drop dead gorgeous, I think after she came out all the blokes on like the quidditch team and in their year would start fancying her, hoping to get a shag or whatever, and would constantly talk to James about it (they'd especially be asking if James and Sirius are actually together now that she's a girl because they're that close, James never gives them a real answer, just tells them Sirius isn't interested), and of course James would tell her all of this. They'd think it's so funny, but it's also strange because suddenly all of Sirius casual mates and quidditch team want a shag with her and it's weird. Again she's indifferent to it, has no interested in any of their advances, but it is odd when all the blokes who used to call her "a good lad" and would crudely talk about girls in the locker room around her, are now interested in her.
I think she'd love taking photos throughout her transition to track her progress. So then on days she feels like shit she can look back through them and see how much she's grown and feel as beautiful as she is again.
Tumblr media
Thank you for the ask, I really love receiving them! I had a lot of fun compiling this list actually, I haven't written out all my transfem Sirius hc's before. I really love her so much and she deserves some more recognition tbh. She's the best. :P

random specific dndads hcs that are canon To Me (content warning: brief discussion of mental illness)
carol and darryl’s house is very white + millennial griege with dark flooring, open concept minimalism. carol likes interior design pinterest, and darryl can’t stand clutter. they’ve got one of those portrait gallery walls. (stainless steel fridge house)
mercedes and henry’s house is super maximalist with busy, warm coloured patterns and plants and decor on every surface. it gets dusty sometimes but most of their trinkets are gifts from other people or handmade from a craft market so they refuse to get rid of anything. (coloured vintage fridge house)
glenn lives in an apartment, it’s very undecorated bc renting is Like That, and he’s a big believer in buying impulsive treats and luxuries over any investments. big dvd bookcase. intense stereo system setup is the centerpiece of the place. has a bunch of neon signs taken from bars. (white fridge house)
samantha and ron’s place is generally anti-big light. always natural light or little lamps. dark hardwood. periwinkle walls. has a big sliding door to the backyard that’s always open with the screen closed so bugs don’t get in. lots of bookcases and rugs. (black fridge house)
henry and mercedes will keep EVERY drawing or test and put it on the fridge “to celebrate both victories and opportunities for growth!” and teen sparrow gets really private abt his art and shoves it all behind his bed frame so they can’t hang it.
he also doesn’t draw for a year after getting sent to the realms.
lark sneaks out of the house and wanders the neighbourhood/park/gas station at pretty much any chance. takes a lot of buses to random places. henry used to fight with him abt it but eventually just agrees as long as he sends a check-in text after 5 hours. they still fight abt this.
grant has harm ocd. darryl never gets diagnosed with anything but it’s likely he had religious + contamination ocd. they don’t really talk about this.
glenn has the radio or tv on all the time because the silence freaks him out.
mercedes is really passionate abt all types of craftsmanship. she takes up woodworking and upholstery after she retires.
carol had subtly hinted that she wanted one of those fancy hair heat tools for christmas for 3 years straight before caving and buying them herself.
the first time nick smoked he did it alone on their balcony so glenn wouldn’t see if he coughed.
grant and carol go to comic con together. they both pretend they’re doing it to indulge the other person but they both really enjoy it.
terry is a several-hour-long-video essay fan, any topic. sparrow and grant are into those video game lore deep dives so they send each other links.
nicky’s texts are generally incomprehensible. he thinks emojis are unironically funny.
lark has bad taste in music, like folk punk and midwest emo shit. (folk punk fans know it’s bad. don’t complain. im one of you.)
ron does not know geography. like he just doesn’t know any places.
samantha leaves a place for terry sr. at their holiday dinner table. it helps all three of the stamplers feel better.
morgan got tattoos when she was in her early twenties. in the first timeline she got a few more, and in the second she didn’t. she had her tattoos touched up before moving to hell.
the marlowe’s fence has a really busted section where scary used to practice scoring.
link does all those summer library events. he doesn’t like reading he just likes the vibes.
taylor is highly susceptible to tiktok (or whatever the time period equivalent is?) ads. bought one of those electric pots where the guy cooks in his dorm room and never uses it.
normal will rewatch the same movie a million times. he’s also really into those mediocre shows where they run for like 10 seasons even though all the episodes are the same.
rebecca and sparrow are one of those “don’t go to bed angry” couples. it’s not really working but the unspoken agreement is there.
veronica and terry love going out for brunch. scary sleeps til noon. they leave her waffles in the fridge.
scary wants more piercings but veronica says she has to wait til her other ones heal. scary is not very good at taking care of them. her helix is perpetually infected and she keeps toying with her eyebrow bar.
veronica also keeps warning her that black box dye is a bitch to lift. veronica knows this from personal experience.
link has bad posture but worries about it a lot so he’s always correcting himself.
hermie keeps a ranking of his favourite B:TAS/timmverse shows/episodes. he’s also the guy who has to bring up the fact that it’s animated on black paper backgrounds in every conversation about it.

Little Nightmares... but flowers?
Okay so there's this thing in OMORI where each main character has a flower that correlates to their personality. Kel being a cactus because he's resilient, Hero being a rose because he's universally loved, etc.
Now what if we were to assign flowers to each Nightmare Kid?
Like Noone, Low, Mono, Six, Cici, Raincoat, etc.
I've left a whole essay on this topic below, so you can look at that if you really want to--
NONETHELESS! I really wanna hear yall's thoughts on this- Feel free to reply your own ideas!
-------
Ideas/flowers I assigned are listed below:
I think Mono would be a crocus or a forget-me-not. They're both colours I think he'd like, and I've always imagined Mono to be a winter-birthday kid. Crocus are flowers that bloom in late winter, and I suppose that also represents resilience in a way??? Not many flowers bloom in the winter because of the cold. As for forget-me-nots... I think it's easy to explain? Forget-me-nots usually symbolize faithfulness and remembrance, and Mono just... radiates that stuff.
Six would either be a poppy, dandelion, or a bleeding hearts flower. Poppy because they actually have two meanings! In western culture, it represents death, because of its blood-red colour, while in eastern culture, they represent success or passion, if I remember correctly. Dandelion is... self-explanatory? It's yellow, like Six's raincoat, and it's a weed- just like Six- (/hj /hj) Bleeding hearts is also self-explanatory. It's literally a flower that looks like a bleeding heart. Plus they're cool, and I think Six would think so as well. I rest my case.
Noone is probably the easiest? I mean... she did have a flower in the podcast so my homework's already done for me. I think Noone would be a chrysanthemum or a poppy. Poppy for the same reason as Six, it means death and success Chrysanthemum because it's the flower that her parents left her before she was taken under Otto's "care"
Raincoat would probably be a hibiscus or a carnation. Raincoat was a pretty short-lived character, just like how hibiscus have a short life-span. They also mean "gentle" or something of the sort. Since Raincoat radiates gentle older-sister-energy, I'm giving this to her. Red carnations are a symbol of love (both romantic and platonic), protection, and passion. Raincoat feels like a very loving character, and a passionate one at that. She feels like she'd do anything in her power to protect anyone she loves. She just... feels like a carnation.
I don't have much to say about Runaway, but he feels like a periwinkle person. Reason 1, it means hope (apparently), and Runaway seems to have a lot of ties to "hope"? I'm not sure where or how we got there, but... nonetheless it's still there. Reason 2, it's blue. That's it. It's blue, just like Runaway. I would say the typical "water lily" or "lotus", because Runaway has a lot of connections to water... but... That's basic. Plus, lotus and lilies mean like... "purity" and "calmness" and all that jazz, and the Runaway in my head is the pure and utter opposite to "calm" and "virtuous". The only lily-flower I'd refer him to would be pink or yellow water lilies. Pink because they apparently mean friendship and joy, yellow because they mean energy and new beginnings.
Low and Alone are their own can of worms that I can't even open. We know next to nothing about these two, so how am I supposed to assign a flower based on their characteristics if I have no characteristics to work with? The only thing I can offer atm is Alone being a tiger lily and Low being a Birds of Paradise flower. Tiger lily because they remind me of Alone's silly goofy hair. And Birds of Paradise because... um... bird-boy.

Revati's eyes opened, and her hand instinctively reached for one of her pants pockets. The train had stopped moving. In Revati's experience, stillness was often dangerous. No one seemed particularly concerned, however. Brigadeiro and his cousin barely looked up from the game they were playing. Both of them were far too busy staring at the illustrations of classical insects on the plastic cards they were holding.
"Are we here?" Revati asked, her eyes moving to the train's windows. The train had stopped in the middle of a busy city street, and there appeared to be no platform in sight.
"No, the train always has to stop when Lady Mill wishes to cross," Brigadeiro remarked, barely looking up from her cards.
"Lady Mill?" Revati asked, leaning over Brigadeiro so she could see out the window properly. Revati had, of course, seen Queen Victoria try to hold grand parades in Olde Landon. Every year they got more and more depressing as the park's old decorations and floats grew shabbier. By the time Revati left, the carnival floats were covered in black mold, and the carriages had lost all their wheels.
Lady Mill didn't have carriages, or floats, or even fireworks. No, it was just her. A beautiful figure riding a strange silver four-legged robot. She floated past the train window as if completely surrounded by a serene invisible bubble. Periwinkle blue hair fell down her shoulders in glossy waves. She was wearing an elaborate pastel pink and diamond gown that was far more suitable for a ball. For a second, she turned towards the train windows, and Revati caught a glimpse of a sweet round face.
Tumblr media
"Wow," Revati whispered as the Lady disappeared from view and the train began to move again.
"Everyone says that when they first see her, but then you get used to how annoying it is when she shuts down traffic and causes massive bathroom queues," Pecan replied, slamming a plastic card down. The card had an illustration of a silver and purple spider on it. "There! Game over, you owe me fifty credits," Pecan laughed.
"I suppose I do," Brigadeiro smiled, and Revati grabbed his wrist. "No, you don't," Revati said, grabbing two of his cards and placing them on top of the spider card. "A wasp and a power-up card, very good!" Pecan smirked.
"Brigadeiro taught me how to play Buggle On the Way Down two years ago," Revati said with a small shrug. "Within a month, she started beating me," Brigadeiro said proudly, handing Revati the cards.
By the time they got close to Paprika station, Revati had beaten Pecan six times. "Here, you take over! I'm refusing to meet your family looking like this," Revati said, gesturing to her torn shirt and filthy pants.
"Oh, thank Goup, I need to win my money back," Pecan cried.
Like most forms of transport, the bullet train had toilets. Most of the toilets Revati encountered stank of farts and had suspicious puddles on the floor. The bullet train's toilet, however, smelled like chemically clean flowers. The entire cubicle was a pristine creamy pink, and the floor was dry. Revati placed her backpack on the floor and rummaged around inside, pulling out the red dress. Amma had explained to her that she would need to pack lightly but sensibly. A long shirt to sleep in, spare underwear, obviously, and the dress.
Revati carefully changed into the carmine red dress, feeling the soft fabric swish around her knees. Revati had done a very quick multiple choice GOüp colour theory test. According to the results she was supposed to wear red in order to balance her “cold spirit”. Revati had found the gown in an abandoned small village along with a bunch of mix
It flared out at the waist with a soft pleated skirt and puffed sleeves. If Revati had more time and actual access to a real shop she would have picked something different.
Something sleek and fitted with a sharp collar and fitted bodice.
Suddenly, her bangle beeped, indicating another message. "Answer," sighed Revati as she began to pack. The android, ghostly and transparent, suddenly appeared in the bathroom.
"You switched me off!" The android growled.
"You were being annoying," Revati snapped back as she examined her reflection. The space station's climate had flattened her hair a little. A massive bruise had appeared on her cheek. Still, it would have to do.
"Well, at least you're not dead. When you didn't answer before, I thought you were on the blown-up space station," the Android shrugged.
"Is it all over the news?" Revati asked.
"Oh yes, the appliances are, of course, claiming I was hiding a weapon of mass destruction on the station's beach! If I was going to hide a weapon, it would be better than a beach," the Android chuckled. Somebody knocked on the door.
"Are you ready, Revati? The train is pulling in," Brigadeiro's voice called, and the train suddenly stopped. The android cut their call, its image flickering away.
Half a dozen people were actually waiting on the train's concourse. Most of them had curly hair in variations of pink. Several of them were holding a glowing sign reading "welcome home, Brigadeiro and Rarity."
"Rarity? They couldn't spell her name right?" Brigadeiro whispered to Pecan with a tight smile.
"You know what your mother's like; she probably made the sign twenty minutes ago," Pecan replied as the only woman without pink hair pushed her way forward, grabbing Brigadeiro.
"Meu Bebe! Thank the lady Goup you are alive," the lady cried.
"I'm fine, Ma! It was just a small riot," Brigadeiro replied as his mother pulled away, examining him.
"You are not fine! Look at how pale you are! You have bruises all over your neck," she replied, and then she seemed to finally notice Revati. Up close, Brigadeiro's mother looked nothing like him. Her skin was a light tan, and she had long wavy black hair with a light blue streak at the front. Her very wide, very red lips parted into a welcoming smile.
"And you must be Rarity! You poor thing, look at the state of you! Bruises on your face and half your hair is missing," his mother said, her dark eyes softening. Revati instantly touched her hair blushing with embarrassment.
"Ma, I told you, her name is Revati," Brigadeiro sighed.
"Oh, you know I'm terrible with names! Don't take it personally! I called my brother-in-law the wrong name for six years," Brigadeiro's mother said with a wave.
"It's nice to meet you, Mrs. Bun," Revati said with a small nod.
"And such nice manners! Much better than that Margarine; she kept calling me Cocoa," Mrs. Bun muttered darkly. An older man was now hustling towards them, an older man who looked like a Brigadeiro who had been left out to wrinkle in the sun.
"Sir," Brigadeiro said awkwardly with a small nervous smile.
"So, this is the new one then?" His father replied before slowly walking around Revati, examining her from all angles. "She's tall, that's always useful, and she has good posture!" His father said gruffly.
"Dad!" Another family member protested, and a skinny man with a shaved head ran up to Brigadeiro.
"Barley! I thought you were working the maze today," Brigadeiro asked, moving on to hug the skinny man.
"I was, but all the tourist attractions got shut down when the attack happened! Ma called the family, and everyone ended up here waiting for you," Barley explained.
"Of course she did! Revati, this is my brother Barley," Brigadeiro smiled.
"I've heard a lot about you," Revati admitted as Barley casually shook her head.
"Really, such as?" He asked, sounding vaguely interested.
"Well, Brigadeiro said you work for a plant attractions division? I have no idea what that is... He also once told me that the two of you had a rock band once," Revati recalled.
"Really? He didn't tell you that I died for six minutes? Usually that's the first thing he mentions," Barley remarked.
"He might have mentioned it once or twice, but it seemed rude to mention," Revati blushed.
"You could have just waited at home," Brigadeiro pointed out as another person joined Barley.
"Everyone's already arrived at the house for Apple day! The house was heaving, and I had to escape," the other person explained.
"This is my brother's spouse, Vanilla," Brigadeiro explained. Vanilla had the same pale lilac coloring as Dusk. As they extended their elegant white hand, their features softened from sharp masculine angles to feminine curves.
"Pleasure to meet you, I'll be adopting you during the holidays so you don't get overwhelmed by the Bun family," Vanilla smiled.
"I've faced legions of killer toothbrushes and wastelands raiders... they can't be that terrifying," Revati said with a chuckle. Much to her horror, her voice trailed off with a squeak.
"There are over two hundred of them attending, and they will all want to ask what you do for a living and which rock best suits your personality," Vanilla replied with a sinister smirk.
"Over two hundred?" Revati asked Brigadeiro with a forced clenched smile.
"Oh good, the clone branch is coming! They couldn't attend last year," Brigadeiro smiled.
"Everyone hurry up! Pecan has the travel carts ready, and we need to get home before nightfall," Mrs. Bun's voice called.
"Clone branch?" Revati finally asked Vanilla as they traveled to Brigadeiro's home. The travel carts turned out to be a bunch of hovering metal buckets. The journey home seemed to involve a shortcut through a tranquil forest. Revati thought it was best not to ask questions about clones until she was sure everyone else was busy in their own conversations.
"The Mill family loved great-great-Grandpa Bun's roses so much they had him cloned nine times. They then had the clones sent off as gifts to other space stations," Vanilla explained to Revati. The forest they were riding through was filled with elegant pink blossoming trees. Distant music filled the air, and a cool breeze made Revati shiver.
"They gave people away as gifts? That's terrible," Revati whispered back.
"Clones weren't recognized as people on the space station until a hundred years ago," Vanilla said with a small shrug.
Revati suddenly spotted a flash of blue hair as two trees parted slightly. "Look! That's the lady from the telehub," Brigadeiro called over his shoulder from where he was sitting with his brother.
It was Pauletta, marching through the forest, her boots trampling the undergrowth.
"The lady from the telehub?" Asked Mrs. Bun.
"The one who pushed me into the shop during the stampede," Brigadeiro explained.
"And you're letting her walk! Hey Miss! Come over here! We're giving you a ride!" Mrs. Bun shrieked at the top of her lungs.
Pauletta suddenly stopped and turned to look at them. For a fraction of a moment, her face had the sinister edge of an exterminator. And then she smiled.

RWatHT - Chapter 20: Sweetest of Nightmares
Tumblr media
Ron was nervous. How could he not be? Tonight was the Ball. In just a few minutes he would have to go down and dance in front of almost all of Hogwarts. It felt like the Yule Ball all over again, but a bit better. This time there were no ugly maroon robes, but instead deep burgundy velvet dress robes with golden lining. They looked good, far better than what he had last year. The design was immaculate with a sleek golden lion shoulder pad on top of one of his arms which held his blonde fur cape.
The robes had been a gift from Master Gryffindor that he had forcefully accepted. He almost rejected them, until he told him he was going to throw him in the middle of the Great Hall naked if he did not accept them. He was sure his Master was only joking. But not so sure as to find out.
His hair was managed as well, although he most likely still needed to cut it. Thankfully, Daphne had been nice enough to have given him some hair products to use.
The Ball was any minute now. Ron descended down the stairs. Harry, Ginny, Neville and Dean were sitting on the couch waiting. Ginny and Dean were going together, and although Ron found the pairing weird he was sure it was quite harmless. Neville had been a surprise, Luna had decided to invite his blonde dorm mate, and the poor bloke had been clearly relieved of his constant search for a date. Harry was another story, he had also managed to put his date to the Ball till the last minute one more time. And now he was as stuck as one could get with a date he had no interest with.
“You look good for a change,” Ginny teased.
“Shut up,” Ron responded. He cleared his throat, before asking Ginny the question he wanted to ask. “Is… Is she…?”
“She’ll be down any minute now,” she said with a smile.
“I hope so,” he nervously checked his dress robes. “Do I look good?”
“You look great mate,” Dean said, most likely trying to assure him. Ron looked to Harry for confirmation who nodded his head.
Then, Ron heard it. The subtle set of steps he had walked with for 5 years. He turned to look before anyone else. There she was. Hermione Granger. Her brown hair was up in a bun on her head, with some strands of hair falling down and reaching her neck essentially framing her beautiful face. She was not wearing the periwinkle dress she had worn last year, instead she wore a champagne-coloured dress adorned with red lining and an intricate red pattern at the bottom that matched his own dress robes. She looked even more beautiful than last year, perhaps she had grown or maybe it was because she had chosen him.
Her cheeks were a bit pink, although Ron did not know if it was because of her make-up or another reason. Although she was wearing some short heels, he was still nearly a head taller than her.
“Hi,” he said with a smile on his face.
“Hi,” she almost whispered, as if they had a secret. The two remained in silence only staring at each other, when Harry cleared his throat.
