Okay so here is my rant on how the elves just took shit from humans and passed it off as there own.

Okay so I am ninety percent sure that all the elves tech is just human tech and human theories same with the stories (Like the sinking of atlantis or forkle being Loki) Because like it doesn't make sense timeline wise cause atlantis sank acording to Plato 12,000 years ago durring anciet greece or around 14,000 years ago. and shangri-la which was a buddist legend, so going back to when buddisum was founded was 2,523 these two things cannot be true at once and since we know Mr forkle helped cover up the elves by being loki so a little over 1000 years ago but press x to doubt. because for one, that would make Mr Forkle Ancient, but he isn't. we know bronte is younger than the oldest tree in the world which is about 5,000 but lived with humans and was there when atlantis sank which is when supossedly they cut off humans, Moreover the Loki = Forkle thing just makes no sense because of Loki's character, Loki is a trickster god, shape shifter and the one that starts ragnarok. (Honestly I'm betting this was actually for shadowing but I digress and having Forkle as Sophie's 'father' parrelling Loki and fenirs relationship) but if you look at how loki acts, it doesn't make sense, and yes you could argue he was younger, but he was already studying genetics and will get to that. I personally think Mr Forkle was born in the 1600 - 1800s one of the versions of the prose edda we have is from the 1600s so it lines up much better with mr forkle not being ancient but still being old and with previous copy's already existing and we add a young mr forkle who likes changing what he looks like coming across a copy he'd think that they based it off him. based on how the legal system worked in ye olden days of the lost cities I'm betting they sank it around the fall of the complete fall of the roman/byzantine empire the roman empire fell in c 400 CE and the Byzantine empire (which split from the roman empire and had greece) fell in c 1400 CE so this is my timeline so far. Also note that the bottle's of youth might actually be just that it's whats keeping them young and may be from the foutian of youth stories which date back to the 4 century BCE so I believe this is what they found that seperated them from humans Pre 4th century BCE: just Humans existed and some mythical creatures, gnomes included as they were probbaly refered to as nyphns and dyriads or at least that was their ancestors that they evolved into as well as cyclopes that may have been the ancient ancestors to ogres as they are comanely depicted similarly to them. 4 century BCE: Elves (like the og councilers) May have found the fountain of youth, then hubris went to there head and they decided that they were bascily the gods now which is why there is 12 seats in the council (for the 12 olympion gods that they may have though themselves to be)

Pre c 400 CE: Humans and elves may have lived a long side each other Elves and humans not being any diffrenent aside from who had the water which gifted them abilities by this time dwarves, predsessors to goblins (Which may have been humans but will get to that), and trolls would've started devolping, 'elves' would have moved to diffrenent ares which is where we get the varients of nordic and germanic (Not celtic yet we need to wait a few more centuries) c 400 CE: fall of the roman empire which is most likely when the human experiments started. this is also where I think Dwarves and Muki split off, okay you may be asking what is Muki, Muki are goblin like creatures that inhabbit mines around several south american coutries which is where the goblin's capital is, know as El Dorado by humans the city of gold. c mid 1400 CE: Humans and elves cant live together, because of a plot for war which may have actually been the war against the ottomans that the humans were fighting but the elves being paranoid hid there cities, And because of a still shared cultural connection they decided to name some of the cities after them (Which is common to happen) so they changed what ever the orginal name of Atlantis to Atlantis. This would also explain why Spanish explorers had heard about the city of gold and decided to go looking for it in the 1500s, anyways now we get to talk about goblins, so I think the natives of south America and the Muki knew about eachother, and may have helped one another which may have lead to some of them deloping a romance. Combined with humans who are skilled hunters and fighters and being maybe being taller the Muki would pass those traits on since it helps them survive. but this time Trolls have definably developed how they got from turning to stone to turning into small children I don't know, although it might've been mixing with Cyclopes, in mythology the younger cyclopes are more violent but the elder cyclopes are very smart and getting less strong may be a side affect from the days they would turn into stone. c 1500s: spanish explorers looking for the the city of gold it's only been around 70 years since they were shut off and this is a new part of the world this would probbaly be when Elves and Goblins finally meet but instead of fighting like the spanish and the Natives did. The Elves may have been like, "Nah they could easily kill us" And decide to make piece with them c 1600s the forkle twins are born, most likely found a copy of the prose edda thought it was inspired by them for changing what they looked like and being a maybe trickster (I honestly can't call him a trickster) He most likely didn't look to much into it. Anyways that's my timeline, but are you starting to see what I mean? I'll make a part two soon about inventions but this is all for part one

okay okay okay, thinking thoughts

So I find the concept of Names really interesting in Camlann, reading into the extracanonical stuff put on the tumblr is giving me food for theory crafting. The Catacylsm seems to be some kind of return of magic to the world (possibly heralded by the return of The King of the Britons in their hour of need?) and thus people with significant Names have access to something because of it. they fall into the stories of their namesakes; Perry, Gwaine, and Kay are Knights, Morgan is Morgana Le Fay, and we now have a Gwen in Shújūn.

Based on Kay's dicussion with Perry if more people can fill in the roles of their stories to more 'to plan' the stories will go, Of course this is not good news if you know the general end point of Arthurian legend (Betrayal, muderer, war, most everyone dead, the 'Glory' of camelot gone). It's inherently kind of a doomsday cult if you stay in those stories, you know where parts of this are going (i'll get back to this)

it also seems like there may be some, for lack of a better term, kin drama going on. There are 900 members of the court and Kay mentions that Peredur is a really uncommon name outside of Wales, meaning there are certain knights who are more common, i assume Lancelot's, Kay's, maybe a few Talisin's, a bunch of Gareth's, and like 50 Elaines like in the legends lol

We also dont have the context for how Names work full yet and neither do our characters. I think theres a lot of answers to be had with Shújūn/Gwen with how it works, how you know other than the buzzing in you're head and desire go through the motions and Follow the Story

Now, where does Dai fit in all this?

Dai doesn't have a Name, and I think theres going to be a point where he changes his name in a major way, but not to a Name, but a Bardic name. In welsh poetic and story telling tradtions Welsh poets, THE OG Bards, will take on pseudonyms tell their stories. This practice stems from the medievil era, but goes forth to today, and many modern Welsh and welsh heritage poets have connections to this tradition (Dylan Thomas' middle name was his great uncles bardic name, Sarah Williams published her work under the name Sadie), I believe it's also a requirement to have one if you intend to perform in the major Eisteddfod, (I am Australian so my experiance of Eisteddfods here is very different so if i'm wrong on that let me know)

Why would he do this? I think Dai is going to, at least try, to write him and his friends a way out.

Much ink is spilt over how Arthurian legend doesnt have an 'orginal text', and as such there are lots of stories that are inherently contradictory; Bedwyr is the best knight, but so are Gwaine, Lancelot, and Galahad. Mordred is some random king until his Arthur's son. Arthur has a sister, no he has two, actually he has three and one of them is an Elaine. This could be used to explain any doubles (are you my Gwaine), as well as why we see a few different spelling varients which are, the very welsh Peredur as opposed to Percival or Parzifal, the anglisised and more boarish Kay as opposed to Cei or Caius (this last one might just to keep Dai and Kay distinct tho). These variations are no more or less 'canon' than any other telling of the story, and so often the writer of a given telling of Arthurian legend is going to have their own bias. But things dont HAVE to end the way they always do, and sometime you need to have someone outside the story you're caught in to tell you a new one.

You are not locked into that ever looming cloud of Thomas Mallory and Le Morte d'Arthur.

Other evidence I have for this is that Dai sings at the begining of each episode, and sings in welsh at that. He also is, to a point our narrator, existing both in and out of the current narative. Also his name is an a lyric of Sosban Fach (a song i would be surprised if it wasn't in the show at some point) 'Dai bach y sowldiwr' which is also not from the text the song was based on. Tangential yes, but i think it's worth thinking about.

I think there is also something to be said about choice in what your name is and how it feeds into the overall theme of identiy, and how that plays into other themes at play in the story, like Transness, Imperialism, and Predestination

TL:DR; While he doesnt have a Name, Dai's gonna give himself an epic bard name and save them all by writing a killer hook to get them out of the story

Everybody complaining about phase 4 having no direction cause 'the MCU is always building up to something bigger' i personally don't think the problem is that it doesn't do well to build up for the future phases but it's that it is actively built on retconning the old ones and this is not a production like star wars that was over in 2005 (the movies specifically) so you can just 'let the past die' no you literally just had your grand event in endgame for that entire story that you had a lot of people following over the course of 10 years and then some month later you just smack us with that multiverse shit that basically makes everything that happened meaningless and in the absolute worse way possible and in the hands of a very incompetent writer like waldron I don't care if some people like his style or not he still remains highly inexperienced as a write to just depend on and just the fact that he borrowed an old script for the show should have been a red flag that he is not up for it.

I was honestly so excited for the concept of varients and so far the only good representation for varients was in spiderman , we know so little about the Wanda varients and i personally refuse waldron's idea about Stephan's varients it always seems to boil down to 'what if i gave stephen the same motivation i gave wanda to go crazy✨A BOOK✨' the loki varients were ok and way more interesting than whatever timeline loki the series was supposedly about (the blonde one can choke on marble tho)

It's such a lost opportunity, really. Their ideas aren't that bad, they're just executing them very, very poorly.

It's like instead of using the variants to explore different traits of the OG character to make them more complex, they only use them to reduce those characters to their most basic trait: Stephen is arrogant, Loki wants to rule. All the nuance, the complexity, their context and background are completely disregarded.

It's the same with the multiverse: in MoM we have a 40-second sequence and in the Loki series we have 3 minutes in Pompeii, a Walmart and Lamentis.

I just can't understand for the life of me this death of creativity, this absolute lack of interest in world-building, it seems the further they go into the multiverse the most basic, ordinary and bland it all becomes. Even in What If, a lot of the stories there are so simplistic.

I don't get it. Oh, and that excuse that it's "building up to something bigger"... sure, it is. But they have to make sure we care about what happens next, and in order to do that they have to work on the movies and the characters right now. They have to make the audience care about them now so we will follow the story so we'll be hooked for future movies and series. That's all we ask! But they're refusing to put in the effort now and telling us to forget about the lack of quality and focus on Kang and what's coming in 2025? I don't think so. Work for it if you want our attention.

you definitely know them but for anyone who doesnt, amey is the main character of switch, and the ONLY character who ive made a profile for on toyhouse. theyre the princess (demigirl they/she pronouns dw im not misgendering my own character) of the snow kingdom. shes 18 yrs old and still in highschool cause she got held back twice👍

B is for Bog! (Endergod)

bog is one of the 5 gods who control the entirety of existence. bog controls all the weather and climate related things. they appear to be some sort of swamp monster, but with a female body somewhere in there. cryptid they/them woman

N is for Noonoo (Bedluna)

as with all the bedluna characters, hes based off a "stuffed animal" i had when i was a tiny baby. i say that in quotations because it was basically a handkerchief with a bear head on it but man did i love him. hes just a sweet little guy who moves around like a jellyfish

O is for OG (The Unlucky Numbers)

og is the main character of the unlucky numbers (of course, other than the other 12 unlucky numbers). they fall at number 1. they had gotten stuck in a time loop, creating multitudes of versions of themself with every choice they made, trying to get out of the manipulative and abusive situation the loop started in. after they successfully escaped that loop, moving into a school dorm with the twelve varients of themself, they now live a life of drugs, murder, and sex. obviously not protrayed in a good way this story is planned to show how awful this stuff is

I have no idea other than perhaps there wasn't much attention to the sizing of the characters, or someone really wanted to establish that this QuackerJack varient is definitely a different one than our OG boy, by establishing a few different characteristics (much like how Nega-QuackerJack is optimistic and friendly while still maintaining the penchant for making unreasonably dangerous dolls for no reason, or that the Darkwing Doubloon universe has a QuackerJack who looks 1-to-1 identical to the main universe QuackerJack but seems to be teamed off with Bushroot), so it's probably not unreasonable to have a few QuackerJacks who deviate from the base style, as we know there's a confirm "infinite" number of Darkwing AUs thanks to that one comic arc, so it makes sense that this also affects the other core element characters in backstory, design and overall history

Since DT17 established that thier version of DWD is an old TV show within the series itself, as thier variation of "live action" (Since Jim insisted on doing his own stunts, that cements that the characters are actors and not just cartoons in this setting), with thier version of the DWD universe being familiar enough to us, but different enough for us to keep pointing out perceived inconsistencies.

This can by further cemeted by the DT17!Fearsome's reaction to seeing Drake stand outside the door of the building, with them expressing initial confusion at this variation of Darkwing simply "stand there" instead of barreling his way through the door. DT17!QuackerJack even gives an expression while stating this that really seems like he's becoming aware that not only does he not properly belong in this universe that they've been pulled into, but the Darkwing they're going to be facing off with is not the Darkwing they're used to

((Despite the visual inconsistencies, I do like this clip because the combination of QuackerJack's observation and expression really just makes me wonder if this was intentional, because darn it, he looks mildly disturbed by whatever theory might be crossing his mind at the moment))

But it's definitely clear that DT17 QuackerJack is definitely a manlet compared to his OG counterpart, who is roughly taller than Drake but shorter than Launchpad, but exact size difference fluctuates between episodes

That said, I also have quite liked @pharaoh-ink's observations that QuackerJack bares a closer resemblance to a Shoebill Stork than a Duck

Big bill, tall gangly stature, slim feet, wierd posture...

QuackerJack's shoes in comparison to the size of feet on a Duck like Drake, Negaduck, or Launchpad indicates that QuackerJack's feet are too small and slim to be webbed Duck feet, and QuackerJack doesn't seem to be able to swim as shown in "Stressed to Kill" (in the same current of water, Darkwing was floating just fine on his back, but QuackerJack was clearly struggling to keep his head above the surface), despite being a presumed Duck.

However, as we know that mixed Bird families are a thing in the Duck-verse (the Muddlefoots, for example), and that names aren't always indicative of the species. Gosalyn's adopted surname is Mallard, for example, but her first and original last name, Waddlemeyer, as well as the visual appearance of her grandfather, indicates that she may be more of a Goose than a Duck, but as she's adopted, her last name is explainable.

St. Canard also has a rather large orphanage for whatever reason, so either its very common for accidents to befall families enough in the city to have to warrant such a large building, or the children are also from other neighboring towns. Either way, there is a LOT of adoptable children in St. Canard, and chances are, that place was up for decades.

So, what's the likelihood of QuackerJack having actually been an orphaned young bird of lesser known species who was adopted by a lovely Duck family and raised in a predominantly Duck environment?

Or maybe he has Duck parents and he just managed to resemble one of his grandparents because gene pools are an interesting thing (for the record, I have blue eyes while my parents have green and hazel, so I'm that little wierd corner of the Punnett Square that was the rarity, so what I'm talking about is genes that skip a generation or two, or just happens to hit those unique odds that one time)

No concrete history means we can get a little creative with our portrayals. My AU version of him is a Crested Duck. I've seen people envision him as other types of Duck, like a Harlequin or Magpie. It's really cool to see how many ways we can remix this character

... Still don't know why they had to make him so short, tho

Probably to dial back his power level, since we know OG QuackerJack has an unreasonable amount of lower body strength for his build, so this might be so QuackerJack didn't cave in Drake's skull with that roundhouse kick to the back of his head. </joke>

I recently came across your blog about Quackerjack and ... I will really tell you that I am ABSOLUTELY amazed at how thorough and meticulous you are in analyzing this character, who is also my favorite character in Darkwing Duck

I had a much bigger, more thought out thing written out here, but Tumblr ate the whole post and really discouraged me from trying that effort again right now after I kept getting distracted by outside things while trying to answer this, but essentially, I was saying that he's a really fun character to have fun with. 😁

i guess instead of genderbent you could have them as a trans female? or at least showing more femininity traits in the transness?

I also remember reading somewhere that while a lot of the genderbending stuff has become a bit transphobic, at one point it was claimed that genderbending probably started from various trans or non binary people using fanfiction to explore gender and projecting how they feel about gender and how they feel being a different gender from what society says they are based on what's in their pants.

part of the problem with genderbending is that due to the male dominated media, most genderbending is turning a male to female, and also implies that there are only two genders, as rarely do we get genderbending from cis into trans unless it is an ‘fanfic au where character is trans, or i interpret them as trans’

then there is the anti-gay thing where fanfiction writers and artist gender swap someone so their ship is cis instead of gay, the reverse happens, but unfortunately the vast majority of genderswaping in relationships turns the ship cis. or worse, just an excuse to have a character get pregnant, thus perpetuating the mindset that women exists only to have children

overall like many things revolving around gender, genderbending in story telling has developed many negative connotations, and until trans and non binary individuals are no longer discrimiated against, it’s probably gonna get worse and more confusing. especially as transphobes and turfs steal fanfic coping methods and twist them into something bad.

This bring me back to your female gordon. The multiverse is huge. there are variations of variations. there is universes where female gordons exists. This not a genderbent universe, this is just a fact. So perhaps if you have two female gordons, from two different universes where gordon just happens to be female instead of gender bent, and their universe difference isn’t their gender but something different(like one is a dancing gordon, spent most of the time doing the gmod dances, and they just so happen to also be female, so male is the default and female being a variant) The other can be a female gordon who lives in a universe where everyone’s gender is swapped, and instead of being a trans male(like many people now like to imagine Gordon as ) they are a trans female. Or perhaps a gordon au where everyone has a super power (like my her academia) and this gordon just so happens to also be female.

overall when it comes to multiverses, the idea of having a cast of multiverse individuals, all male, save one who is identical to the ‘og’ only being female perpetuates the idea that cis male’s are the default.

in conclusion: Are any of your Gordon's trans? if so is that what makes them as au or is it something else, and the fact they are trans is a side thing? Is one of your Gordon’s female? if so is that what makes her an au, or is it something else, and the fact she is female is a side thing? I think this line of thinking can help you not erase your character, but evolve her. make her more then just a female gordon varient

Do you think you'll be using your genderbent Gordon on this blog? I only ask bc genderbends make me uncomfortable bc of some transphobic connotations there are with them, so I wanted to ask ahead of time!

< well i’m starting to seriously reconsider. i certainly made her before i learned there were such connotations, and to be fully honest i made her because i’m genderfluid but afab and i wanted to see a gordon with a similar body type as mine.

but i don’t want this to be an uncomfortable space, and i’m wondering if  someone seeing her without context would make them uncomfortable. which would make me uncomfortable. 

i think overall i’d feel less sick scrapping her than having to defend putting someone with the same gender as me in a story that’s just for fun. but it still kind of triggers memories of being treated like something who was unworthy or wrong for being a woman. so i hesitate.

i would really, really appreciate if anyone could share their experiences or opinions on the subject. you can indicate if you want it private (just put PM somewhere). 

heck, even suggestions on an idea for a gordon to replace her in case that ends up what needs to be done. i just need a little more time to consider this, and info helps. >
