Why is it called a "common cold" when this is the worst hell I've experienced in my life. My nose and throat are burning like I snorted chili powder and gargled wasabi. My head feels like someone is inflating it with a tire pump and it's pushing all my brains out through my nose. This is worse than when I've had COVID, strep, flu, or pneumonia. What kind of hell are they putting in colds these days

CAN VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS LOWER THE RISK OF COVID-19?
Tumblr media
Vitamins can give a boost to the immune system—but can vitamin do much against COVID-19?
The recent coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak causes panic worldwide. Its signs and symptoms, ranging from fever, dry cough, shortness of breath to more extreme symptoms that require immediate medical help. Currently, we do not have any antiviral medications or vaccines that specifically treat, cure, or prevent COVID-19. So, treatment of it will usually involve managing the symptoms by dietary choices and supporting the treatment from immunity booster vitamin supplements.
Multiple studies have shown that vitamin deficiency can harm the immune system and increase the risk of developing respiratory illnesses, cold, and flu. In addition to it, some studies have indicated that vitamin supplements can enhance immune response and protect against cold, cough, fever, flu, and respiratory infections.
A recent review that included 11,321 people from 14 countries demonstrated that vitamin supplements especially multi vitamin decreased the risk of acute respiratory infections (ARI) in those who were vitamin deficient. Due to the lack of immunity in elderly people and senior citizens, Vitamin supplements have been shown to reduce mortality in them, and chances of developing respiratory illnesses, colds, cough, fever and flu caused by COVID-19 related complications, decreased.
Which vitamins can help prevent COVID-19?
COVID-19 comes with cold, fever, difficulty in breathing and flu-like symptoms, Vitamins B, C, and D, as well as zinc may be helpful in boosting your immune system and fighting off the illness in the same way they can help you get over it.
Vitamin C
Vitamin-C helps in fighting with cold and ease its symptoms. As an antioxidant, vitamin C helps in reducing inflammation—and lung inflammation is a severe symptom of COVID-19, which can lead to respiratory diseases or even death. So if you’re still healthy or eat a standard meal it doesn’t hurt to start taking vitamin C now. You can also consume Vitamin-C from citrus fruits such as lemon or oranges to reap its maximum benefits.
VITAMIN D
The main function of vitamin D is to help the body to maintain its optimal blood levels of calcium and phosphorous, which you achieve through the exposure of sun’s ultraviolet rays, through the foods such as dairy products, orange juice, soy milk, etc or from proper supplementation.
Getting enough vitamin D protects from various respiratory infections and supplementing it significantly decreases the chance of respiratory tract infections (RTI).
B Complex vitamins
B complex vitamins are essential to keep the immune system in top condition. Always be sure to include enough B complex vitamins such as leafy greens, seeds, legumes, cereals as a part of your daily diet or from a multivitamin supplement.
Zinc
Zinc has been found to help produce and activate T-cells (t-lymphocytes), which trigger the body to respond to infections and boost immunity. Zinc helps in symptoms of nasal congestion, nasal drainage, fever, sore throat, and cough. Add Zinc-rich foods such as chickpeas, nuts especially cashews and almonds, baked beans, etc in your daily diet.
It is best to take coronavirus-specific precautions by adding essential vitamins and minerals from whole foods and supplements that help in bolster your immune, washing your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, use hand sanitizer, not touching your face, covering your coughs and sneezes, regular exercise, proper sleep and practicing physical distancing or physical isolation to prevent getting and spreading the virus among others.
