A random sad teen wolf headcanon that I've thought about a lot is the idea that the teen girl that the Sheriff was with the night Claudia died was actually with Agent Rafael McCall.
Idk why, maybe it's inspired by a series of other peoples posts, but I've had the thought that Agent McCall was cheating or tried to cheat on Melissa the night he hurt Scott and that's what they were arguing about that night when Scott came out of his room.
so maybe one night he was at a diner or a club or something with a bar and he manages to flirt his way into a conversation with a girl whose eighteen maybe nineteen and he says "Fuck it" but she doesn't have a license yet (maybe she was scared to learn? maybe her parents didn't want to let her until she was eighteen?) so he drives.
But he's drunk. And he loses control of the car.
He manages to stumble away from the accident, tearing up his hands on the glass from the window shattering as it flipped upside down from hitting another car, and flags down a car, where he asks for them to call for 911. Maybe then, he happened to stumble off into the woods so he wouldn't get in trouble for drunk driving - I mean, he's a new FBI recruit, he can't risk his job for a stupid accident... can he?
But then Stilinski shows up, deputy at the time and all, and he sees this girl... and he thinks he recognizes the car, but... that's not possible... is it?
Then she asks where he is. She says his name. She says his full name and Stilinski promises to find him, make sure he's okay. When she realizes she's going to die, when this feeling comes over her and she warns Stilinski, she means it. She wants him to go. She wants him to go to his wife.
But Stilinski doesn't listen. And she dies. And it's in the news the next morning.
Stilinski gets confirmation when he sees Melissa the next morning. He had just finished filling out the necessary paperwork to have Claudia sent to where she'd be taken care of the funeral when Melissa comes out of Scott's hospital room.
Melissa tells him that Raf shoved Scott down the stairs the night before, came home pissed drunk and was rambling about a car accident and a girl and wasn't making any sense and Scott came out of his room and Raf grabbed him and then all of a sudden Scott was rolling down the stairs and his head hit the ground so hard it dented the floor. Scott and Melissa have been in the hospital all night because they want to make sure he doesn't have too bad of a concussion.
Stilinski tells her that a girl died in a car wreck last night asking for Raf. Melissa hangs her head and nods. That's when she asks the Sheriff what paperwork he's filling out.
And that was the single worst night of Noah Stilinski and Melissa McCall's lives.
I've always though it would explain why Stilinski and McCall dislike each other the way they do. The kind of dislike, hatred, and the way they talk too and about each other makes it seem more layered. That they'd been friends, that they'd maybe been best friends and then this all happened and Stilinski knows the Full truth of everything that happened that night and McCall hates that he's got that kind of information on him. But also McCall has his own guilt - the death of a young girl and missing one of his best friends last moments and making another of his best friends miss the last moments of his wife.
It would also explain the absolute projection-filled judgement McCall has about Stilinski's drinking habit. He knows how bad it could get, he knows the kind of shit he regrets. But he also feels guilt for it, because he was the reason Stilinski didn't get to say goodbye. So he's cocky and arrogant and rude about it to Stiles, not really realizing that Stiles also knows the full truth of what happened that night. Because, like always, Stiles hears everything. Thats why Stiles cracks the dig about field sobriety tests - which usually happens when someone gets pulled over for suspected drinking and driving, but of course he had to add his own little F and U twist to it.
