So I had a random Marauders themed dream. It was kind of an AU, but Peter still had betrayed James and Lily, but for some reason Sirius and Remus had had to work with him for a while and bridges had kind of been mended (I think Peter had convinced them he was a terrible coward and that fear had caught up with him and he severally regretted it - my dream clearly made Remus and Sirius a bit OC to facilitate its plot). A mysterious fire broke out in the castle (not Hogwarts castle mind you, just the random castle that the three Marauders were living in with a load of orphaned children and some work staff). I think Remus died off screen, one of the first victims to the fire with its mysterious origins (I think my dream was hinting it was arson). Sirius and Peter were running, but Sirius being fitter was faster was ahead while Peter was slowly being eaten by the fire, only just managing to keep up.

Sirius got to a fire door just as Peter collapsed due to the fire. Sirius turned, looked at him, somehow communed that the betrayal of the Potters was still too great and Peter would only slow him down. He went through the fire door and left Peter.

Then someone else helped Peter through the fire door. Peter left them to get consumed by the fire and dragged himself to a secret exit (that wasn't burning, despite the fact that the fire had started at ground level, necessitating fleeing upwards). He slid down the stairs, did not warn some children about the fire and then just forced himself to walk normally away from the castle and to hospital (the fire was only just starting to be apparent from the outside).

And I was like 'What, Peter's the traitor again, even after all he did to prove it was a decision of fear to betray the Potters? Which mysterious evil is he working with now?'

And then I woke up.
