Since I'm pretty sure this is too much to put in the tags, I decided to make this a proper response instead (the second time, actually, because the first time I tried writing this reblog, chrome decided to go fuck itself and I lost everything)
(yes, I'm still pissed about it)
So, naming OC for me, it can come from a variety of different places.
Sometimes, character names come from name generators or baby name websites. That was how Thea and Maddie got their names.

Thea (and my other Ikevamp OC Abby) both gave me the hardest time when choosing their names. There was a point when I was brainstorming names for Thea that the name 'Moss' came up and I just screamed in discord that I refused to name my daughter after grass.
Finally, the name generator gave me the name Dorothea and I thought it was kinda funny that her name was sort of a name reversal of Theo and thus her name (and their shipping) was born.

Sometimes, character name's will be based on a specific theme or motif.

Haiiro, which is the word for the color grey in Japanese, both has a grey color scheme (this particular picrew just made him a smidge more colorful, lol), but he also doesn't experience strong emotions, both positive or negative ones. He is oftentimes stone-faced and even-toned, neither good or evil, he's just the middle ground, neither black or white. He's just grey.

Sometimes names can be inspired by different medias I like. Houki, for example, was named after Hotohori's wife from Fushigi Yuugi.

And since Ophelia is a lady that is often followed around by tragedy, it makes sense I wanted to name her after a Shakespearian tragic lady. Fun fact, her sisters were also named after Shakespearian ladies!

And if all else fails, I'll fall back on my old naming conventions of using names that start with the letter A or the name has to have a 'K' sound somewhere it's in it's pronunciation, like with our friend Takashi above.
List of A names include my player name for most games, Aria (which is also a nickname for Takashi's wife, Arianna), Adel and Aranel (twins!) Aislinn, Ambika, Athena and Arty (sisters!), Aoryu, Angie, Abigail, and probably some more I'm forgetting.
K names (and names with k's or k sounds in them): Kage, Kimika, Kimiko (not related, one was a sky pirate's wife, the other was Fushigi Yuugi OC), Three separate Kael's, at least two different Kara's, Lucas, Nicholai, Shiroko, and, again, some more I'm forgetting.
i feel like the way you go about naming ur characters/where you get ur character names from can actually be something that says so much about a certain creator. if you feel like it, rb and tag this post with how you usually find new names for ur characters
