It occured to me that salem actually wouldn't be satisfied with just turning larry into a great one. Given that i made salem to embody obsession, i think that the moment he decided to revive larry was the moment his own obsession turned from learning about the great ones, to larry himself. So of course, if larry becomes a great one, then salem can't be content to leave it at that; his new goal afterwards is to become a great one as well, and is determined to brute force his way into it through shear force of will, and also maybe a little bit of larry's blood
