So, I usually refrain from expressing too many “problematic” opinions on this platform mainly because I don’t wanna deal with anon hate. I’ve done so in the past and it’s never been fun. But since I’ve been talking my friends’ ears off about Disney recently, I thought I would give it a go here. Yes, in the safety of the “read more”-button, because overall, my opinion doesn’t matter and I don’t wanna force it on anyone.

Let’s cut to the chase. I kind of hate Disney. Don’t get me wrong, I watch Disney films and I occasionally reblog some Disney stuff. I think some of their earlier things, from The Hunchback of Notre Dame to Atlantis, are truly enjoyable films. But I’ve never been into the whole Marvel phenomenon. I don’t care about superhero movies, and the way Marvel is insistent upon franchising everything and essentially making every film a cliffhanger for another cliffhanger film, just makes the whole sub-genre less appealing to me. I’m not exactly an action film fan as it is, and when it’s done in such a chaotic way as the Marvel films tend to be, I’m even less convinced. I’m not saying every Marvel film has to be a John Wick in the quality of action, but... one of them could be, no? As for Star Wars, well, it is my personal opinion that Disney has thoroughly ruined the franchise, to the point that I actually prefer the prequels. Maybe they were messy, badly acted and boring, but at least they felt like films - rather than products made for a cash grab. 

As for their other products, well, I like Tangled. Moana is passable. Frozen is fine (but only fine). But none of these animated films have touched me in ways that, for example, The Swan Princess, The Prince of Egypt and Quest for Camelot have. Ever since I was a child, I’ve preferred non-Disney animated films without even realizing it. Maybe it’s because to me, the non-Disney films just tackle more complicated, fascinating stories that rely less on the chance to make merchandise and more on the opportunity to make good content. I have often heard the term of something being “too Disney”. Which, basically, kinda means that a film is just too family-friendly when it really doesn’t have to be. And that is probably something missing from the non-Disney examples I just gave. Admittedly, all of these films are from the 90′s, and I’m sure Dreamworks and co. have now fallen into the same cash-grab trap that Disney is currently sitting in. But nevertheless, I still consider most non-Disney animated films to be superior to their Disney counterparts. Part of it is definitely my annoying habit of disliking something that is too popular simply because it is popular - but I don’t think that’s the whole story. And my dislike of Disney has only grown over the years, to the point that I’m considering boycotting the company entirely. And here’s a few of the biggest reasons why:

Disney+. Yes, every company has the right to try to make money, and they should. But I think Disney+ will only mean the death of other streaming services, and eventually, the death of diversity and creative freedom in the film and TV industry. I prefer Netflix over anything Disney has ever spat out, and while I recognize its flaws, I hope that it will not get overshadowed by Disney+. But who are we kidding? It will. Especially in America, Disney is this sacred thing that nothing can defeat. Disney’s mediocre films (such as Frozen and Marvel movies) are praised as gifts from God, and everything else is either compared to Disney products, or discarded because of Disney. From everything I have read and watched, Disney+ is going to be a real threat to all of its contemporaries. It’s going to be cheaper than Netflix and others, and it’s going to have the products the masses adore (again, namely Marvel). Netflix will lose customers, and Disney+ will gain them. This will most likely make it difficult for Netflix to make new original content, and will most likely also affect movie theatres. Because if Disney+ continues their trend of releasing films on the platform rather than in theatres, well, what choice do Disney fans have but to join the service? And in the end, we’ll be left with nothing but films and shows that are so lifeless, or old classics we know from beginning to end. And neither one of these options encourage anything new. 

This brings me to my second point, which is the lack of creativity and new ideas. You only have to look as far as the Disney liveaction remakes to see that they don’t care if they give you new, quality entertainment. All they care about is getting your money. And again, I am also at fault here. I liked Cinderella just fine. I loved the new Aladdin. I paid to go see those films. I gave Disney my money and thus, encouraged them to make new liveaction remakes. So, I can’t really criticize much when I’m also the offending party here. But still. Remaking every single classic Disney film? That is just exploiting nostalgia to the point that it’s becoming absurd. And all this does is stop Disney from working on new, interesting films that don’t exist in an already established franchise, or aren’t direct remakes. It’s not like Disney doesn’t have the money to take risks. It just refuses to, because why take risks when you can make easy money? And make no mistake. Aladdin 2019 was easy money. Frozen 2 was easy money. And however nice these products are, it does show in the end result. The stories are recycled, and feel kind of lifeless. The fact that people are comparing The Rise of Skywalker to Avengers Endgame only proves that Disney is not only recycling its’ own ideas, but that it’s stripping the directors and writers involved of their creative freedom. I’ve read stuff about how much JJ Abrams had to change in The Rise of Skywalker to accommodate Disney, and it’s actually pretty scary. What the hell is even the point of trying to tell original stories if Mickey Mouse is just gonna come and tell you to rewrite everything you’ve worked on? Disney is perhaps the most obnoxious and money-hungry company I have ever heard of in my life, and that’s saying a lot when there’s companies like Amazon and Apple around.

My third and final point is the fact that Disney owns, or is on its’ way to owning, everything. Absolutely everything. Star Wars. 20th Century Fox. You name it. Almost everything in the film industry at this point is Disney. And that sucks. It sucks so much. I can’t put it any other way. It terrifies me that Disney is in charge of so much of the content we are given. Because, let’s face it. Disney is not the most risk-taking company (at least not anymore), and certainly not the most diversity-encouraging one. People of color, LGBTQ+ characters, you name it - all of the representation in film and TV will most certainly lessen even more once Disney has its’ claws in everything. Disney only represents minorities when it serves them, and when they know they’ll get money off of it. Like that lesbian kiss at the end of Rise of Skywalker? I didn’t even fucking spot it when I watched the film! That is not representation. Having a token black character (who is completely wasted in the case of Finn in Star Wars) is not enough representation. Disney is a coward, and has been for a long time. All Disney cares about is profit, and that’s it. That’s 100000% it. And I’m not saying that other companies are much better. Of course Netflix wants your money. Of course HBO wants you to hand over your credit card info. But at least the content we receive from those companies varies. Not everything Netflix produces is another Stranger Things. HBO has done things that vary from Game of Thrones. But Disney (in recent years)? Remakes. Sequels. Rebooting a known franchise. It’s all been done before. And I’m scared that, say, ten years from now, every single action film will have the protagonist say a variation of “I am Iron Man” before doing their own variation of snapping their fingers. And, in my very non-expert, very non-educated opinion, that would suck.

By the way, it goes without saying, but all of this is just MY opinion. If you love Disney+, if you love Marvel, that’s amazing. I am so happy for you. This is a really good time for you. I’m nothing but a pretentious dick who is complaining about what is essentially just harmless fun. Just wanted to make that clear.

IIDA/ANYONE LET MY BOY BE HAPPY. TodoIideku is pure bliss and any fractal of the triad is bliss. TodoIida is hilarious and wonderful -- their personalities are so funny, with Iida being SO EXTRA and Todoroki being singularly unflappable but also secretly Soft. But I also like Iida + Uraraka in context of tododeku?? Like ... they would be so cute ...

I love KiriBaku / Bakushima because it’s just s-s-s-so pure. Like, Kirishima is such a Good Boy that he melts Bakugou with the brightness of his smile and that’s a canonical miracle. The way the shippers portray it is just so emotional and the only way I can lock into ships with Bakugou is explosionboy finally chipping a little off of the ice block around his heart and realizing he can Emote Softly. Hopefully after Breaking Down in the Fucking Loudest Way because … necessary. (in the same vein occasionally I’ll reblog a BakuDeku something or other, but I only jive with that when they’re way way older and have obviously done the DIFFICULT work to come to terms with their past and all the abuse Midoriya has suffered. I'm NEVER annoyed by seeing you post your gifsets. I can always feel the love and joy you put into making them. Especially when you go off in the tags about whoever you happen to be giffing. I love that. I adore seeing you go a little insane about Changkyun (and so does my sister, so that's two, at least).

Secondly! If people are annoyed by your posts or the frequency, that's literally not your fault or your problem in any way, shape or form. It is up to each individual to curate their own experience on Tumblr. It is not your responsibility. Other people's experience on here is not your responsibility. Your blog is Your Space, and you can and will and must do whatever you want with it! Whether your gifs are good (they are) or bad (they aren't), or whether you post too much (not possible) or too little (also not possible), it is not your responsibility or problem if other people are annoyed. I know it can be disheartening if gifs don't get as many notes as you'd hoped, but I want you to know that you at least have one avid fan (actually I can say two fans - my sister also loves seeing your posts).

2. Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Jenna, I am 23 (24 in a couple of weeks!). I have 3 brothers.. It's been a struggle haha. I was born in London, my parents and I moved to New Zealand when I was 6 months old. And just two months ago I moved back to London with my boyfriend. I've written a few fics, and have just finished my first multi chapter Ever Since New York. I am currently unemployed, but looking for Pharmacy work as that's what I did at home and would like to continue.

3. What do you never leave home without? 

My phone! And keys.

4. Are you an early bird or a night owl?

Night owl, 100000%. I suck at mornings.

5. If you could live in any fictional world which one would you choose and why?

Maaan, probably Middle Earth. Like I would kill to be an elf and shack up with Legolas. Or Thranduil, keep it in the family yunno. Or the Harry Potter universe because magic? Yes.

6. Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met.

I've 'met' a whole heap, like I've paid at cons and things to meet Aidan Turner, Dean O'Gorman, Andrew Scott, Karen Gillan. I went to the Age of Ultron prem when I was in London last time and got photos/signatures with Mark Ruffalo (ultimate fav), Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Aaron Taylor Johnson. I got Robert Downey Jrs autograph but no photo. But just by chance without planning too I met Jenna Coleman. We were visiting my family in Wales and just so happened to drive past during filming. Didn't quite get to meet Peter Capaldi though. And then I was in London last time, me and my best friend walked into Jamie Campbell Bower in the street. The story Is actually so cool but I feel like this answer is long enough hahah.

7. What are some of your favorite movies/TV?

Movies: Eternal Sunshine, Only Lovers Left Alive, Big Daddy (my go to movie when I'm sad, I love Adam Sandler). I always struggle to answer this because after I think of one I should have mentioned! Shutter Island. 

TV Shows: There are far too many but right now Riverdale, obviously. And I just smashed through Brooklyn 99. The OC, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, SOA, Friends, Being Human, the list goes on...

8. What are some of your favorite bands/musicians?

SO my first favourite and was Panic! At The Disco. Then My Chemical Romance took over my life. Now I'm into The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Bastille, Hozier, Tom Odell, James Bay, Ed Sheeran. Thanks to my Dad I love Alanis Morrissette and Radiohead. Thanks to my Mum I have a soft spot for Robbie Williams. My music taste is diverse so I listen to a lot of rap. I'll defend Kanye West to my dying breath, I really like Post Malone at the moment too. It chops and changes so so much. Also I've seen One Direction 4 times so judge as you will, ahaha.

9. Favorite Books?

Pretty generic, really. Harry Potter series, LOTR, The Mortal Instruments series and all that go with it. Fault In Our Stars, All The Bright Places, Lovely Bones.

10. Favorite Food?

I love Mexican food.

11. Biggest pet peeve?

Sidewalk Hoggers who walk SO SLOW.

12. What did you want to be when you were little? What do you want to be now?

I always wanted to sing or act, but seeing as I can do neither.. I always wanted to work in the entertainment industry and sometimes still do, like behind the scenes. Maybe in Media. But for now I love working in Pharmacy and want to train to become a Pharmacy Tech.

13. What are your biggest fears? Do you have any strange fears?

I don't have many fears, I have no issue with the dark or heights or anything like that. I HATE bugs, like any kind of insect or creepy crawly, just no. Sometimes even butterflies irk me.

And as far as strange fears, everyone always looks at me weird when I say this, I have a fear of whales.. Like I don't like the ocean or fish, sharks etc, but I can handle it. But whales? No. I get goosebumps and feel like my throat closes up when I look at them. I think it's to do with their sheer size and power. I don't even know why but I just, I can't.

14. When you are on your deathbed what would be the one you’d regret not doing? 

Seeing the world.

Okay... lets talk about your writing!

15. Which is your favorite of the fics you've written for the Bughead fandom?

Probably Who She Was, How She Loved. It was only a one shot, and it hurt like hell to write, but it seemed to get a reaction from everyone who read it and that's what we write for, right? I don't even know where I pulled that fic from, but I really love it. It feels real.

16. Which was the hardest to write, in terms of plot?

Ever Since New York, just to keep it going. I didn't want to drag it out too much, but it needed a fair amount of content. So I struggled at the end there.

17. How do you come up with the ideas for you fic(s)? Do you people watch? Listen to music? Get inspired by TV/movies?

A lot of it definitely comes from music. Like, if the lyrics to a song resonate with me I always think of a story to go with it. Always, even if I have no intention of writing it. I also pull inspiration from certain movies and things, but it is definitely music at the forefront.

18. Idea that you always wanted to write but could never make work?

I really love the idea of room mate fics, I haven't actually tried though. Maybe I could do it.

19. Least favorite plot point/chapter/moment you’ve written?

I only posted the last chapter of ESNY the other day, and the response has been good, but I'm still not happy with it. I couldn't even read it over. I don't really know what my problem is, I guess I just felt it was very anti-climatic.

20. Favorite plot point/chapter/moment you’ve written?

In my fic And Then? There's a scene where Betty & Jug are in the ocean yelling, and I really loved that moment.

21.Favorite character to write? 

Jughead. Always. He has layers...  

22. Favorite line or lines of dialogue that you've written?

Dark. Brown. Not round, more sleek. The complete opposite of the girl who's face was flashing through Jughead’s mind at this very moment. Which he knew, of course he did. That's why he had picked her. With her dark head of hair, and her dark eyes, he would never have to be reminded of the one he was missing.

Except for the fact that he saw Betty Cooper in everything. And everyone.

23. Best comment/review you’ve ever received?

Every comment someone goes out of their way to write about something I've spent time on is amazing. I think it always makes me smile though when they say they can see it all happening as they read. And you know, making them cry when they say fanfic never makes them cry.

24. How do you handle bad reviews or comments?

I think I would have included more characters in Ever Since New York, like Archie etc.

I've only ever written for the Bughead fandom, but my favourite is Who She Was purely for the emotions. I'm a sucker for emotions.

I have 51 bookmarks on AO3. So I am reading basically everything right now haha. But in terms of general fiction, I haven't read anything in a while and I need too.

28. Do you have an advice for writers that want to get into this fandom but might be scared? 

As typical as it sounds, just do it. I was so nervous, but this fandom is hands down the best. Everyone is so, so welcoming, and if there are so many people to reach out too if you’re ever feeling unsure about your own work or anything. Just take the dive guys, it's a fun ride.

But it’s simply to exhausting to even try to respond to the vitriol anymore. I tried a while ago but no one (except our little group of Serena fans) wants to hear it. (THAT IS WHY I AM SO HAPPY I HAVE THE FELLOW SERENA ANONS/FANS HERE.) 

They hate her, she’s 1000% evil--the MOST evil on THT, she is responsible for Gilead and everything bad that has ever happened, she deserves to be beaten by fred and lose a finger that’s not even good enough!!, the end. thus i’m straight up blocked immediately for questioning that. No discussion allowed. If you like her, for any reason, or try to understand her at all, you also must be a right-wing, religious, anti-feminist nut job who hates June. You don’t deserve to even be in a THT discussion if you attempt to understand Serena at all, and god forbid you attempt to explain or reason through her behaviour or psychology. I can’t imagine how it would be if I flat out woobiefied her or was a Serena apologist in those circles. I mean, it’s totes cool if you’re a Nick or Lawrence apologist, or apparently even a Fred apologist (yeah. I saw that once and died a little inside.). Even Aunt Lydia apologists aren’t completely beaten down but Serena? Well, excuse me, your soul must be rotten just like hers sorry bye.

why does nick-loving necessitate rabid serena-hate? like i have personal issues with nick, but afaik there are plenty of serena people who don’t hate nick? and there are other fans who don’t like either. but it seems like if you ship n**/june there is some rule that you must be so excessively anti-serena that you look plain ole crazy. i am sure there must be people who ship it and also think serena is an interesting character???? maybe? or maybe the sorts of people who delve into serena’s character are just too different and nick is just not interesting enough when you recognise what a 100000% more complex character she is. she spoils us, lol. i dunno what the answer is. i can’t say i’ve “met” any serious n/j shippers that are also big serena fans. i would assume they exist. tho maybe the two things aren’t compatible lmao. different strokes, i suppose. lol i just wish they’d allow people to have differing opinions without having a stroke every time serena is mentioned as something other than pure evil, or be able to take criticism of precious nick without throwing a tantrum and refusing to acknowledge the problematic nature of him and other characters. (god help you if you say you don’t like n/j hahaha.)

anyway i don’t like the combative nature of this fandom. like if you aren’t part of the hivemind, you’re not welcome. i honestly don’t understand why it has to be that way??

(it’s also not great that all the big, popular fansites/fanblogs are all n/j and basically refuse to put/reblog anything on them that is any other ship, or basically anything not anti-serena. like imo if you’re running a blog for THE SHOW IN GENERAL, you should welcome all submissions and reblogs no matter if you personally like the ship/character or not. but nope. not in THT fandom lol. i don’t even think skins fandom was this bad and that’s saying something, cos it was pretty polarized but it seemed like the big blogs were fair enough in representation.)

I regret not making any posts when everyone was fighting against Louis' image, and that's because I hate talking about BG, so I try to avoid the topic as much as I can. So right now I'm like "yeah maybe it's time to say mine", because I'm seeing so much hate towards Harry (not from people I follow nor mutuals, I make the mistake to wander around too much, like... There's a reason I don't follow certain blogs, right? haha), and it reminds me, on a different scale, the hate Louis received from this same fandom (the 1D one, not necessarely the Larry one). So I'm going to rant a bit about some topics that really can't stand, because like I said, I want to say mine, and not just reblog other people's post, because sometimes those posts aren't really what I think about, but just a % of my real thoughts.

Let's start with the more recent, the RS interview. I agree it was awful, but at the same time Harry's quotes were amazing, the one about teenage girls? It's making the rounds, almost as much as him talking about Taylor. I too whish they could just let that 3 weeks relationship go, but if it's just that, a reminder, I can swallow this fucking demon called Haylor ONCE AGAIN. The Hendall part was basically Cameron Crowe writing his opinion, and just like other bloggers have said, you don't go to an Oscar Winner and tell him "no, you can't add it", it's a suicide, especially if it's a RS interview. Not to mention that in an interview where topics like Haylor and what Ben "I'm a horrible person" Winston said, were allowed, a simple opinion by the journalist, and a changed pronoun (because I'm 99% sure he changed it the moment he explained his thoughts about the album, since the full phrase had they/them), are like... zero. Not that important. Also, interviews with Harry are 100000 times better when are not written, we know how he is, looool.

Also, I saw this in one blog "Also since when is evolved, woman respecting, Harry slut shaming women over the length of their skirts?? And a short skirt means you can’t bring her home to mother? What? The? Fuck?" (I'm not here to say what other bloggers should post on their blog, but I'm here, in my blog, and I want to talk about this part, because I'm seeing many people upset over it), I don't think Harry would ever slut shame someone, even thought the image 1DHQ created he's a lothario, he always showed his respect towards women. And I really REALLY doubt he'd ever write something to slut shame women. Why don't we just wait for the song to come out? Same goes with posts that say "if the album is full of she it means he raised the wall", Harry raised his wall long ago, he's showing the world Harry Styles the singer now, who is a character, it's not real, and since he's in the closet, he has to handle his image more. I'm sure he doesn't like this game, but he knows how to play it. I saw an ask yesterday about KStew, and she's still using her relationship with Robert, and we all know it was fake and she's pretty much out, but it's part of her image and she embraced it.

I feel like, especially these last months, this fandom has become so drugged on theories that sometimes it's hard for us to look at what happens and just wait. I made this mistakes soooo many times, I've been here since 2012, I know my shit lol. But that's also why, 5 years later, sometimes I feel like it's time to let things happen without 20394059 posts about the same old topics. We just can't wait, and this is 1DHQ's fault, because they've always been so shady and we always had to dig to find the truth. So now it's like automatic to do the digging for every thing.

Now, since I want to talk about Louis, I'm going to link Harry to him by saying that both are in the closet, both are doing their best with what they can do and can't do. No one is playing both sides, no one is "deciding" to stay in the closet, and I just wish some people would respect that.

So, Louis. The one deep in the shit since July 2015 (I still remember the texts on whatsapp, let's just say I stopped breathing for 10 minutes). I'm still trying to figure it out how and why, and with a situation like his it's really something almost impossible. Because ok, he has a kid, fine... But what about the shady stuff, that horrible family, the constant stunting with Danielle and now with Eldemort (and the 2304950 pap walks with the stroller and the exchanges in the parking lots.......), just like many people said since BG dropped, it doesn't make sense, and I know that even IF (IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFFFFFFFFFFFFF) it doesn't end (LMAO) I'll never believe it's real, you literally have to exchange my brain with an anti. I'd probably just shrug, and continue my "LARRY IS THE REALEST" campaign.

I don't know how some people can freely say "he wants to stay in the closet" when, like I said, this whole situation is a big HUGE ??????, there are so many celebs that decide to stay in, none of them have situations like this one. I mean, he's free to stay in the closet, but not free to make this believable? To have joint custudy of little Brett? How does that work @ anti @houie ??? he's a fucking millionare, he can have whatever he wants, he can call his lawyer and ask for the moon and he'd get the fucking moon.

Now, JHO promo. I hate how they managed the whole thing, and when I write they I mean Crusty and co. but at the same time I don't feel like it was all their fault, because their other clients are happy with them, so I'm sure they have some restrains with Louis (which, dear Crusty, those restrains don't give you the freedom to fucking show off on your locked ig, while you're "working"), I'm sure there's a reason why they always link him to J Arthur, and I can't wait to know why, because this situation it's a big giant mess, and none of our theories will ever come close to the real thing. But as I was saying, the promo in the US was amazing, thank you Steve, I wasn't ever really bothered by BG questions, I was fucking mad at the beginning, but then I was like ok, because like I said with Harry, when you're in a situation you can't control you have to play the game the best you can. And with some awkward moments I can say Louis did well, still shady and obvious and like "I don't want to be here", but the GP didn't really noticed it lol, so good. 

The promo in UK tho....... I mean, what the fuck was that? I'm not here to praise Jeff, or to say shit like "he's the best", but I wish for Louis a manager like that (because you can always do better LOL), that promo was inexistent , and thank god we're a fandom with the biggest balls in the industry, because I really don't know what they would have done without us. And it shouldn't be like this. Louis should have had that promo, he should have had the GNS, the BBC Radio 1, but there's something that it's stopping him and I can't wait for it to fucking disappear.

Now, this post has gotten so long, and I'm sure nobody is going to read this, but basically I'm saying to please believe in these two boys, to not let the PR images change what you think about them. And to read what it's written in articles before saying shit like "slut shame", and to watch their actions, instead of their words.
