your rarepair is not rarepairing unless it has zero fanfiction in the tag. i have found one playlist (i never listen to them, plus it's a language i do not interact with), one video (uses the same moment from the movie, doesn't add anything new), and that's it.
the movie came out 19 years ago. with a really good digging, i have found around 2-3 fics for the ship, but i, uh, not sure about its quality (and that language is kind of hard for me to read, i prefer English).
i guess i'll have to make gifs, so at least i have *something*.

rewatched day watch and man. i see all the book plotpoints they jumbled into a plot for this and like. it's okay. it's alright. i guess. alisa's storyline will never match her book one and kostya will never match igor (and movie!kostya will never match book!kostya). but it's fine. it works within the movie. as much as it can with this director.

An open letter Kinchev from "Alisa"
An open letter to the artistic Director and the author of songs of group «Alisa» Konstantin Kinchev
Hello, Kostya. I do want you healthy. They say that Russia needs to live a long time. In order to have time to understand everything. I think you have not long lived. I want you to live as long as possible, because you need something to rethink. Forgive me that I address to you on «you» and named «coast». It’s not disrespect, God forbid! It’s just the memory of those times when we were young. You were young, I was young, we were young. We played and listened to rock-n-roll and you were for us an idol, a model, a hero. And we were on «you», not even knowing each other personally, and you said yourself that «we are together». I remember in Leningrad high-rise buildings on the birthday of the classmate I first listened to your album «Energy». I listened almost breathlessly. I thought: this is my all about me, for me. I didn’t know then that your work is intended only for the racially pure of the Slavs. And today I was driving in the car on family matters and Autoradio again passed your famous song «Sky of Slavs». Before, I was silent all the time. But I tired silent. I’m 44 years living among racism, Nazism and xenophobia. And I tired to keep quiet and pretend that’s the way it should be, as the whole country pretends that it’s okay. It’s not normal. And I decided that now will never be silent. Let’s talk to you, Kostya, about your song. Don’t be shy. You can be honest with me. I don’t want to hurt you. Consider that I have a doctor. Doctor of your body. If you know what I mean. You sing: «We are sharpening the seed of the Horde». Here it is necessary to decide. What kind of Horde you sharpens seed, Kostya? The Great Horde? The Golden Horde? The White Horde? Or maybe Blue? Here accuracy is important, Kostya. When the Empire of Genghis Khan was divided into ulus or Horde, because each Horde had its own dynasty and history. And then the Horde was all over. Now no Horde no, Kostya, neither Big nor Gold, nor White. No Byzantium, no power Germanarich, the Commonwealth does not and also no Horde does not. Maybe you have phantom pain, Kostya? Or any current or recent descendant of the Horde you grind? Maybe the Mongols? Of The Mongolian People’s Republic? Maybe they are enemies? Do you know, Kostya, that the Mongols remember that we lived in the same state once, but for this reason I think Russia is not a historical enemy, as a historical friend and brother? But do you think the Mongols enemies, Kostya. They consider you a brother. Do you know, Kostia, that in the Great Patriotic War, after the Western countries is our second supplier of lend-lease was Mongolia? The Mongols gave us horses and coats. Have you seen Kostya in Soviet films as the red army in a beautiful warm coats, pomogaete General frost, smash the Nazis, hundreds in cloth chinesisch? It was a Mongolian coats, Peter. And do you think the Mongols enemies. Or maybe you’re not the Mongols, and the Russian Tatars considered the «seed of the Horde», which sharpens you? You probably somehow missed this historic moment, Kostya, the Russian Tatars have become, not «brothers» as with the Slavs-Ukrainians and Slavs-Belarusians, and just one people? You disturb the bones, the names Kara-Murza, Zarifullin, abuzyarov? These Russian writers, they are the seed of the Horde? They sharpen you, Kostya? Maybe Victor Tsoi you too sharpened? His last name was strange, not Russian. Not only with the Horde came to your bright Rus. You sing: «we yoke the yoke busurman». Busurmanov is Muslim, Kostya, I know. And I know everything. You yoke the yoke of the Muslims? What does this mean? Russia seized ISIS? You pay the jizya? Jizya, Kostya, this is a special tax on non-Muslims. In the Muslim Caliphate non-Muslims were required to pay the jizya. In the Middle ages it was quite democratic and progressive. It was a kind of «freedom of conscience» pay the jizya and you can practice any religion or not to profess any. At the same time, for the slightest deviation from the Canon, Christians have burned each other at the stake. So it was OK. But now it’s savagery. Now people are by default free from official dogmas of religions, whether Islam, Marxism or Christianity. A man is free to profess any faith or philosophy. And not obliged to anyone to give an account. We thought the coast that you and the other rock stars had in mind when he protested against the cultural and ideological uniformity in the USSR. But it turned out that you meant – everyone must be a Communist, and Orthodox Nazi. Is this what you had in mind Konstantin? Then I do not think the same as you. We aren’t together anymore, Peter. Then I’d rather stay Communist. And I think now, Kostya, that may be, the USSR was right when I kept you rockers, to turn. Because you one and all «addicts, homosexuals, Nazis, punks.» I’m sorry, Kostya, this is a quote from your song. It turns out that the KGB already knew that you are a Nazi? Then, maybe, correctly, that your shows a little bit forbidden? Of course, the bans isn’t the answer. But Nazism is not a panacea. Now all of a sudden it turned out that you yoke the yoke of the Muslims. Tell me, Kostya, some Azerbaijanis reketirov you overlaid a tribute? You want perekrashivaniya under their Slavic rapists? Well, not necessarily to sing about it. Generally, racketeering is against the law. It can be stopped by legal means. But if you mean taxes, right part of the taxes collected in Russia, goes to fight with ISIS in Syria. On the distant approaches. In a foreign land. No, Kostya, ISIS conquered Russia, you got it wrong. You sing: «from the shores of lake Peipsi to the ice of Kolyma, all this is our land.» All this Slavic land, you’re talking about. Your land. Where’s my land, Kostya? Where is she? Where land Sharifullina, Abuzyarova, Kara-Murza and Hayrapetyan? Where land is Russian writer and philologist astvatsaturov, grandson of academician Zhirmunsky, and the Zhirmunsky where the land is? Where the earth of entire peoples who have lived for centuries on the vast shores of lake Peipsi to the ice of Kolyma? You know, Kostya, that «Chud» these shores were called from the fact that she lived there «Chud» — Slavic tribe? Where the land of Karelians, Chuvash, Mari, Finnish, Ugric, Ural, Siberian, Turkic peoples? Or you decided to do this to all the peoples of Russia, as the Americans did to the Indians to kill and take their land? But aren’t we always proud of the fact that we are not? You say, Kostya, that it was all your land and what is above it – «sky of Slavs». And where is our land, Kostya? Where is our sky? And we’ve even shared God was Tengri. God Blue-Heaven, God the heavenly Horde. And you say that the sky belongs to the one the Slavs. The Goths, the Scandinavians, Alans, Scythians look at you, Kostya. Say: the sky has no boundaries, Kostya. The sky belongs to everyone. And you will find out. But it is better, if not soon. Because you still have a lot to understand on earth. You’re not ready. I recently found out, Kostya. You refused to go to Donbass and to support the «Russian world». You go, and Kobzon went. Remember when you sang about «and every soul in Sid of Vishez, but in fact Joseph Kobzon». It was assumed that Kobzon is a bad thing. Because it is «Soviet». And Kobzon took it and went to the Donbass. Probably because the Soviet. And you didn’t go. Because you’re racially pure Slav. I don’t think you chickened out. You kind of never was a coward. Rather, you feel that the Kiev junta is closer to you by blood. They have there also in the veins of «sky of the Slavs» and marks «the sun» on the sleeves of the battalion «Aydar». And this «Russian world» — it is a non-Slavic. Racial unclean to some. I heard that against you somewhere opened a case under article 282 for inciting ethnic hatred. I am opposed to you were attracted to 282 minutes. I do object to our cultural Nazis were tried under articles. This makes them «martyrs». And does not solve the problem prohibitions. And the courts. And just need that you, Kostya, I understand. And your audience. That it is disgusting: to divide people on nationalities. To say this is mine and my. It is indecent, pounding his heels into the chest, jingling medals purebred Slavs or cecosta, or tatarstva, or anything. It’s like in the theater loudly to spoil the air. All frustrating and embarrassing for you, Kostya. So, come on, Peter. Live. Breathe. My air, my sky, – I do not mind, I allow. And write more. Only write better. Kinder.

Part 2.

"Привет." "Привет," she smiles. "Я приехал за тобой." (...) "Костя, подожди, послушай, я тебе всё объясню. Он всё про меня знает, я ничего не могу сделать. Он меня чувствует, понимаешь, нет? (...) Я не могу его снять." "Я помогу." "Не надо. Он тебя убьёт." "Я не боюсь." "Я боюсь."
Dude, their romance. His body language. I fall into this pit every single time. Idk why but between the book romance for Alisa and Igor (?) and the movie romance for Alisa and Kostya, I definitely choose the latter. There's something so special about them to me.
And then Zavulon DOES kill Kostya. If only Alisa let Kostya leave when he tried to. No chalk needed, just let Kostya leave. :( I wonder if she could actually leave Zavulon alive. I feel like he's so cruel, he wouldn't let her, especially not for another man, ESPECIALLY not for a vampire, and not for such a weak one.
Then again, in the book he lets Alisa die, and her lover dies, too, so Kostya dying and Alisa losing her mind our of grief is kind of fitting here.
Also, Kostya mostly feels young when you dress him appropriately, but then in this scene, he does feel and look like a grown—mature, even—man that misses his woman and wants to fight for her.
I feel like if Alisa didn't try to take off the ring so furiously, Zavulon might have not checked on her. Kostya would leave and would have been alive later. Then again, Zavulon came to take her with him, he didn't want her to miss the start of the party. *deep sigh* Dude, the hets from my early teenage years got me again.

"Устал твой папа. Ты уж его прости."
The asshole drugged Anton and then acted like he knows nothing and it's all Anton's fault. He's horrible. I love him. Anton and Zavulon's relationship in the movie is very predatory, but then he also tried to kill Anton in the book, so. It, at the very least, is a start.

Can they pls kiss?

"Инквизицию вызывать?" "Не спеши. Ещё не все собрались."
Dude. The way he looks her up and down, with the raised eyebrows, with that little smile. Amused? But then also, she's his WIFE. Is he still attracted to her in a way?
How familiar she is with him, too.
Does the movie imply that they've been together for a long time? But as far as I remember, they weren't married in the first movie & there's not that much time passed after it.
The way he looks at her makes me think that they once made love. That she once was in love with him. Maybe he was in love with her, too. Or close to that, considering his history with his exes and that he's around 2000 years old.

"Давай выпьем." "Ну давай, коль не шутишь." "На брудершафт." "Доиграешься, Городецкий. дам тебя Инквизиции."
Also. It's a shame they didn't have that brüderschaft drink. I would have loved to see it & would have more content for the ship.

Kostya 🥺 Out of everyone casted in the movie, he's probably the one I imagine when I read the books. Make him a bit younger, around 19, like he's supposed to be in canon, and that's it. That's a good Kostya.

There's this little moment that looks ridiculous as stills, but Kostya mouths to Alisa to leave with him and Alisa catches it and shakes her head. She's scared. I'd like to gif this. I probably won't but I'd like to at least remember this.

The visual is kinda cool (after all, Kostya and Zavulon are a fun ship in the books) but Kostya deserved SO much better. Look at how scared he is, how significant the power imbalance is. He tried, he really tried to shake off Zavulon's grip, to push him away. Watching this, I'm now thinking Kostya could have left alive if he didn't attack Zavulon? :(
Either way, cheers to the actors for going all the way. Honestly, Zavulon with his tango? Holding Kostya so firm, with a hand on his neck so that Kostya can't free from his grip. And there IS some kind of passion/chemistry in this.
Ugh. I'm in my feelings about so many things in this movie.

They deserved BETTER. 😟😥

There's something about this angle. Zavulon is dragging around dying Kostya. Anton tries to stop Alisa and to get the chalk from her.

"Остановите её, дядя Завулон." "Её уже не остановить." "Тогда я сам." "Она сильнее тебя, Егор, подумай." "А если её убить?" "Мелодрама, Егор, не мой жанр." "А что же тогда делать?" "Думай, Егор, думай." "Вчера, в Сумраке, я воткнул в неё иглу. Теперь я могу её выпить."
First of all, I really like that Zavulon leaves the decision to Egor. He lets and ASKS him to think on his own. He teaches him. And when Egor thinks of the right decision, Zavulon raises his eyebrows, promoting Egor to act.
I also like that Egor wants Anton to become the dark one. I like that Zavulon sees that "Anton is getting darker." He should have been with Zavulon, not Geser. We were robbed. Lukyanenko was a coward for not going there.
#the day watch#natiswatching#дневной дозор#the night watch#ночной дозор#long post#anton x zavulon#kostya x zavulon#alisa x kostya#dude I always loved the second movie way more than the first one#and that teenage girl is still inside me when it comes to that#then I ship everyone 😅#I need you to know I had to watch the movie with subtitles#to be able to write the transcript 😅#should have done it in English I guess?#but it's even messier so i'll go with russian rn

I'm thinking about the English translation of "ты замужем?" as "mean something?" when Kostya touches Alisa's ring in the car when she came to talk to him.
Like. How horribly wrong and accurate that is. Especially considering Alisa's relationship with Zavulon.
Dude, they're eating my brain with a big spoon. Give me that long scrapped sex scene. I need it carnally.

part 1.

what was THAT. so he saw Kostya's window and the evidence of Kostya watching him and suddenly went into a vampiric mode? why? he's not drinking blood for quite a while at that point. or is it like, "he has a lot of darkness in him"? bc we know he has a dark side, too.
it's really interesting, BTW, that Geser tells Anton not to start a relationship with Svetlana in the movie. while in the books it's basically faith and they almost* have to get together, whether they like it or not?
*almost because he can still choose. it's one of the possible resolutions. he can push Svetlana away and start a relationship with someone else. Zavulon, for example. or you know, stay single.
upd:

this time after Zavulon messaged him. 👀
upd2:

I still kinda ship them. Anton looking up and down Olga's neck. Oooh, what if he was thinking about the blood and biting? All. things considering.

the way the played this. yeah, I can totally believe this so Olga. I only wish they followed the book more closely. in the book Olga dressed in jeans and sneakers. not heels and a skirt. she thought it out. in the movie they want the audience to believe that it's a sudden move. in the heat of the moment, so to say.
"А к Гесеру можно?" "Идите вы со своим Гесером." "Антон, вернись, тебя никто никуда не отпускал."
I'll take Anton being mad at Geser. <3 I'm yearning and longing for dark!Anton. He should have been the dark one. He should have worked with Zavulon.

Kick his ass. KICK HIS ASS, ANTON.

The body language and the way "Olga" acts COMPLETELY changed. Yeah, that was good acting. That arm on Semen's shoulder.

the mannerism. <3

this was supposed to be an orange cabriolet? how is this suddenly a daewoo matiz?

look at her. look how gorgeous she is. completely not the book Olga but damn. the actress is beautiful.

cowards. they should have let the women kiss and only THEN it would be Anton in his own body.
this movie does something weird to me. it has barely anything in common with the book, but then I can ship Olga with Svetlana. Alisa with Kostya, while in the book it's not a thing at ALL. this Zavulon is not the one in the book, but then the acting and some kind of charisma does work so that I see him as Zavulon.
but then I also ship Anton and Kostya. but then I want Anton to be with Zavulon because otp of all otps in this universe. 😫
I'm on the fence about all of this. I want it to be the book, but then it's not and it's better if I see it as its own thing, but then I want it to be the book and so on and so forth.

this is a VERY weird Alisa. while I can deal with the actor that plays Zavulon, the costume design department definitely ruined it all completely. Zavulon is supposed to wear suits, not sweatpants and tank tops. Alisa doesn't wear shit like this. and, as far as I remember, she has red hair in the book. dunno why they casted this woman to play Alisa.

women— how did I ever let myself believe I wasn't interested in women in a romantic way. women!!

sigh. I would still love to see the full scene. from my understanding of the interviews, they were fucking in the car. or at least there was some nudity.

the light one, mhm. dude, that is a very dark thing to do. there was no reason to give him the red eyes that he had when drinking blood to show through when he affects people to do what he wants. unless the intent was exactly this—to show the darkness within him.

oh, Kostya. what a drama queen.
"Завулон, мы его нашли! Дави его!" "Идиот! Он мне нужен живым. Погоняйте его пока, ребята."
Idk. From one hand, I can deal with this Zavulon. From another, it feels so OOC.

"uncle Zavulon" got presented with a chalk of faith.

"Ты не имеешь права его трогать." "А я и не трогаю."
And that's why he told Egor to give it to Alisa. Because he's smart enough to obey. To follow the contract. The funny thing is that when he's asked if he has the chalk and he denies it, he's not lying. HE doesn't have it. Egor does. I love Zavulon so much. He's a smartass but in a good way. He IS smart.
"Это мел судьбы. С его помощью можно исправить ошибки." "Ну и оставь его себе." "А как же вы?" "А мне он не нужен." "А вы что же, не совершаете ошибок?" "Просто я о них не жалею." "И что же мне с ним делать?" "Ну отдай его Алисе." "А она о чем жалеет?" "Ну о чем жалеют женщины?" "О любви."
I feel like he felt that she's in love with Kostya. While he needed someone to have the chalk, I feel like it was both his cruel game and his knowledge, or at least hope, that he'll get to kill him.

The way he looked at her when he told Egor to give the chalk to Alisa... Sometimes I feel like he doesn't love her, just wants to own her.

But then she says that she regrets about love and he immediately looks at her, does a double take. Wants to own her and so that she never ever belongs to anybody else? Never cheats?Keeps her head in the game, even though she doesn't really love him and wants to be with Kostya?
It's actually incredible the creators married Zavulon and Alisa in the movie. She's so much more younger in the books. And he's smarter than that. But then again, marriage is owning to him, "You're mine", all of that.
"И не трогай кольцо. Мне больно."
And yet, she still tries to divorce him through taking off the ring.
I have a lot of thoughts on the topic.

it's truly wild to me when people complain about their ship "having only 2k works" and calling it a rarepair. how long, realistically, do you think it would take you to read 2k works? considering the variety and that some fics are literally multichapters longer than existing published books.
"but it's a big fandom, it's a rarepair for my fandom!!" dude. I have 2 fics for my ship. t w o. some of my ships have zero fanfiction and I have to write it myself. some of the fandoms for my ships are completely dead.
you would have to read non-stop without eating, drinking, sleeping, and taking toilet breaks to be able to finish those 2k works any time soon. and you still have fics to choose from!
realistically, I'm not sure I'd even finish 2k works and it would still take me years.
some of you are just spoiled. 🙄
#rarepair#fiction#fandom#drakecest and sweetnessa and silverdyne#and kostya x alisa and anton x zavulon#and grace x daniel and maeva x solal#beth and townes!#sooo many of my ships

I guess not having any fanfiction for your otp does mean you have to build it from the ground. Oh well... (opens a new Google docs file)

one thing that drives me wild a bit is how in the Day Watch (2006), in one of the takes, when Kostya goes, in awe, "yeeeah, your car is unreal", Alisa goes, "want me to gift it to you?" (aka "you like it? take it. it's yours.")
and then she does gift it to Kostya, and he uses that car to drive to the hotel, telling her he's there for her and to take her away from that place (which she would gladly agree to if that was possible).
and they are deeply in love, such a clear romance.
now, fast forward to I don't remember which book but Zavulon *literally* gifts Anton his car. and THEN Lukyanenko, being the asshole that he is, decided that naahh, they're not a thing, Zavulon is just Anton's biological grandfather and is so rich, he can just gift a car because he got bored of it.
dude. dude, the trope is literally romance in your movie. it's just for a male and a female. for hets. DUDE.

That moment in the Day Watch (2006) when Alisa asks Kostya what he studies and replies to his answer with, "Wanna learn to live without human blood?" He was smiling but after he hears her answer, the smile completely disappears and he looks almost... scared? And devastated?
That moment where Kostya goes, "Human, dad? You can make me human again?"
That is SUCH a book Kostya. Kostya that just wanted to be a human again. To be equal, and that's why he took Fuaran.
Kostya deserved better. In both universes. But especially in the movie, he didn't do anything wrong. :( He studied, played football, wanted to be cured from vampirism, and fell in love with the wrong woman. :(
upd: on the bright side, since Anton reset and fixed the timeline, that means Kostya is still young, still alive, and have never met Alisa. damn, Alisa has probably not met Zavulon yet. so maybe not everything is lost for them?
I'll look for fanfiction, even though I doubt I'll find anything. it's a very, VERY unpopular ship.
