"nobody will pull him out of it, nobody is telling him how to make it stop"
What if someone did. What if a counselor noticed and pulled Aaron aside to talk to him. Maybe it ended in nothing and Aaron being more pissed than before--but what if it helped.
It probably wouldn't get him clean right off the bat, hell he probably be resistant to the idea, but someone noticed. It doesn't even have to be a counselor, just a teacher. Someone to provide a safe space. Make him feel a little less alone. Only then would we have seen a less bitter Adult Aaron--unless everything went wrong again, of course :)
thinking about teenage aaron minyard having to sit through all those anti smoking anti drugs talks and presentations that all centre around "drugs will ruin your life! drugs will hurt you permanently and take away your future!" and he knows, he knows all of it, he's heard it a thousand times, hell, he's seen it up close. he knows he's addicted. he knows how bad it is for him. but nobody will pull him out of it, nobody is telling him how to make it stop. thinking about how isolating aaron's whole childhood would've been, how angry he was as an adult looking back and realising that nobody tried to help him. that he was thirteen years old and everybody abandoned him.

Jughead//Soft Side
Request: Can I request a Reader/Jughead, sorta like the opposite of the whole "dark betty" thing, sort of reader has this hidden "nice side", like reader is pretty badass/strong but she wants to do something nice/kind for Jughead and he's really taken aback by how vunerable she's being
Y/n Y/l/n and Jughead Jones had been inseparable since the day they met. Well, almost.
The first day you met Jughead you pinned him against a locker because you thought he was pulling a knife on you when in fact it was a pen, but thats beside the point. He was new to Southside High and the only person being nice to him was Toni, so that was just suspicious.
But after everything had been explained, and you’d been pulled away from him by Toni, shortly followed by Sweet Pea, you figured that he wasn’t so bad.
So then you started to spend more and more time with him (i mean somebody needed to look out for him and everybody was scared of you) and slowly you started to become inseparable. Even more so when you started to dating.
Now you had been together for a few months and you still looked out for him, however he had become a bit better at defending himself (even though he didn’t really need to. Nobody came close to him after finding out you were dating).
In the months that you’d been dating, he’d been sweet and you’d been well, you. You didn’t do sweet, you were tough, a gang member, and a girl. Nobody would take you seriously if you were sweet and in a gang. So you needed to be tough and badass. And that was the only side of you that Jughead had ever seen. Until tonight. Jughead had been especially sweet to you over the past few weeks, patching you after the many fights you’d gotten into (usually over the Serpents and him) and you decided you were ready for him to see your more vulnerable side.
“Y/n?” Jughead’s voice was cautious as he walked into the dark trailer. “Are you here?”
“Hey.” You said softly, appearing from the corner of the living. “Close your eyes.” You told him and he looked at you concerned. “Babe, I’m being serious. Close your eyes.”
“Fine.” He reluctantly agreed before closing his eyes.
“Okay.” You held his hand softly and started to pull him forward. “Follow me.” The two of you walked into the living room slowly, Jughead narrowly avoided walking into a lamp which made you laugh while he flipped the sofa off instead of you. “Okay, stop.” You told him. “And sit down.” You pushed him softly.
“Please tell me there’s a seat behind me.”
“Of course.” You replied and he nodded before sitting down.
“Can I take this off yet?” He asked.
“Nah, I like you better like this.”
“Rude.” He mumbled.
“Not in that way.” You whispered in his ear and he smirked.
“What way then?” He teased.
“In the way that I can’t see you roll your eyes. I’m also thinking of getting one to put in your mouth so I don’t have to listen to you talk.”
“Ouch.”
“You know I lo-like you really.” You corrected yourself. “Take your blindfold off.” You said and he quickly did it.
“Holy shit.” He mumbled as he looked around. “There are fairy lights all over the trailer.
“Very observant.” You replied with a smile. Even though you were showing him your softer side, you couldn’t resist with the sarcasm. “What else can you see.”
“My favourite movie on the TV.”
“Yep.” You nodded.
“But Archie broke my copy of it.”
“I know, and you’ve been upset about it ever since. I went to every charity shop in Riverdale and Greendale before finding it.” You told him and he smiled softly at you.
“Also, I got the recipe for your favourite food from your grandmother. She didn’t seem very happy to give me it but when you turn up at an old lady’s house dressed in a leather jacket they kind of give you whatever you want. I wasn’t meaning to frighten her though, I sent her a letter saying sorry and she’s invited me for tea next Saturday.”
“...oh, okay?”
“And, I got all your favourite snacks, I set up a little blanket fort and I made you a little care package.” You told him before running off into the bedroom. A few seconds later you came back out carrying a box.
“Wow, a bow. I didn’t know you knew what they were. Well, apart from a weapon.”
“You can’t use a bow as a weapon.” You rolled your eyes and sat beside him.
“You could figure out a way, and maybe you should wear the blindfold. You roll your eyes way more than I do.”
“Shut up and take your damn present.”
“Thank God a bit of the old Y/n is in there.” He teased before taking the box from you. He looked at it for a second before tearing the wrapping off and you laughed at how childish he was. “Y/n.” He said slowly. “Why’d you do all this?” He asked. “Don’t get me wrong I appreciate the sudden niceness and the presents, especially the books. I’ve been looking for these for ages. But why are you doing i-”
“I love you.” You interrupted and he stared at you dumbfounded.
“I love you too?” He said confused and you laughed a little.
“I’m being serious Jughead. I really do love you.”
“Yeah, I got that. I’m just confused...” He trailed off, thinking for a moment.”Are you dying?”
“What?” You laughed. “No.”
“Then why are you doing all of this?”
“Because I love you and I want to show you just how much I appreciate you.”
“I know you appreciate m-.”
“I’m not done yet.”
“Okay.” He said quickly.
“I know I don’t show it very often, if ever, But I do love you. And I’ve never done anything like this. You kind of have to build a wall when your a girl in a gang. Nobody would take me serious if I was sweet and kind, and so you have to build up your reputation as being a badass, which is what I did. But with you I know I don’t have to do that because you love me. Plus I’d kick your ass if you thought of me any differently.” You shrugged, trying to play it off. You weren’t at all pouring your heart out.
“I’m well aware that you’d kick my ass.”
“Good.” You nodded before playing with your fingers. He hasn’t said anything nice, maybe you were wrong. Maybe you shouldn’t have told him this, and to think you spent an hour putting up fairy lights. You fell of a chair for this?
“But.” He hooked his finger under your chin and pulled softly so you’d look at him. “I’m so happy that you feel comfortable enough to be this vulnerable with me. I’m glad I make you feel that way, and of course I love you. I love your stone cold bitch side, and your sappy, soft side too.” He smiled softly at you before kissing you. “Maybe thats what the SSS stands for, its not Southside Serpent. Its sappy, soft side.”
“I will kick your ass.” You warned.
“No you wouldn’ttttt.” He teased. “You love meeeeee.”
“I’m starting to regret this.” You mumbled.
“No you aren’t.” He shook his head. “Now, let me cuddle you.” He said before grabbing you and pulling you on top of him. “I love all of you.” He mumbled into the crook of you neck and you smiled brightly at him. “Especially if you make my favourite food.” He added and you rolled your eyes.
“Shut up.”
“Make me.” He challenged and you raised an eyebrow.
“You want me to shut you up?” You asked, your lips ghosting over his.
“Yep.” He nodded quickly.
“Close your eyes then.” You whispered in his ear and he nodded slowly before shutting his eyes. You leaned over and grabbed the blindfold that was laying beside the two of you, before shoving it in his mouth.
“What the fuck.” He spluttered, his eyes widening.
“You asked me to shut you up.” You laughed loudly.
“You’re the worst.”
“We both know thats not true.” You replied before he grabbed you again making you squeal.
