#and the structure as a whole#i have very little experience w/ anime as a medium & no other experience w/ the magical girl genre within it#so I'm not sure. how usual is the unrelenting structure of the story? ykwim?#like the sequence before every dueling scene. could be cut yk? its been established. could be shortened at the least#but no. full length door handle ring utena climbing the staircase with song about apocalyptic destruction#anthy sword pull calling on the power of dios. every time..it rocks!#i seem to remember *something* similar with pokeman..... when i last watched it. like. a decade & a half ago#idk! idk. might look up more about the genre(s) bc its rly effective#but itd like to have awareness of whats genre convention#& also learn that way more about what genre elements it subverts#utena#rgu
