mega merc AU: Recon (aka Reconman, aka Reconstruction-man)

if Tavish rejects the unattainable expectations of the DeGroot clan, he will manifest superpowers of healing, rebuilding and teleportation. also a super cool glowy halo effect.

as Reconman, Tavish effortlessly heals nearby teammates (and hurts enemies) through his presence alone. Recon can also magically appear at the side of any ally on the battlefield, and his Inverted Grenades™ can restore damaged buildings to better-than-new condition.

Recon’s default appearance is fairly laid-back: casual clothes, no cap/hat, and no visible weapons.

do not mistake his empty-handedness for vulnerability! in close quarters, Recon can supplement his damage-dealing aura with Demoman melee items.

Recon’s aura heals nearby teammates at a mostly-standard rate, however Medics are healed 25% slower and Demomen 33% faster.

compared with Medic, Recon is significantly better at restoring health. Medics will often express jealousy* in the presence of friendly Reconmen.

Recon’s voice lines indicate a fond, big-brotherly attitude towards both team and enemy Demomen.

while the teleportation ability is useful (zoom around the map! no machinery needed!) it also has two significant drawbacks: 1) a long cooldown, and 2) Recon’s destination will become apparent to all players several seconds before he arrives.

strategic use of a Recon can neutralize an enemy Malware by locking both units into a constant 1v1 battle of creation-and-destruction.

additional appearance stuff: Recon is surrounded by a luminescent halo of either red or blue, corresponding with his team colors. his clothes are often overlaid with glowy designs and patterns.

Recon keeps Demo’s half finished “bottle o’Scrumpy” holstered to his belt or leg but never puts it to his mouth; lore is ambiguous about whether he drinks at all.

* jealous!Medic can be advantageous in the mega merc AU. if you can get ur Heavy to comfort him successfully, you are well on your way to a Beau fusion :)
