#the PLOTTING??? the SCHEMING???#actually I don’t mind that quite so much. all the wisest women had to do it this way etc etc#but it’s this borderline malice with which she plays with Roger and Osborne’s futures#how meanly she speaks about Roger and her fickleness in the face of his inheritance (or lack thereof)#it’s not the scheming it’s how she just doesn’t seem to CARE about anyone#the hypocrisy of how she interacts with Lady Harriet and swears she’s never even told a white lie in her life#and then turns around and twists all the facts and things for her convenience#it’s like !!! idk. she’s just making everyone miserable#am I going to be accused of “not being able to handle complicated female characters”? maybe. but there it is.#elly's posts#elly reads#wives and daughters
