don’t and will never understand how people draw an equivalence between “i don’t like kids” (as in. i have an absence of affection for them) and “i dislike kids” (as in. i actively hate them)
#to me. children are one of those things i don’t understand the appeal of#like mashed potatoes#i don’t think babies are cute but i’m not going to say that to a parent’s face#and i have no idea how to interact with them#i know my nieces and nephews think i’m unsettling but guess what so do my coworkers!!#i don’t magically know how to deal with people just because they’re smaller#and i know they will be expecting something different from me As A Grown Up and i don’t know. what that is or how to perform it#i feel most like an alien when kids are around#i don’t have to interact with them a lot tho so it’s not an issue#but it’s so weird when i see a poast (like today) where the notes are full of people. attacking folks who don’t like kids#there is a difference between not liking. and hating. we can understand this yes
