practicing making bustier type tops-- this one i modelled with a rose petal tiered skirt i made a while back! the lace isn't the same, but they still match well. I suppose i COULD make a version where the lace does match, though-- both of these items are available as MTO designs! the sample bustier may wind up available as a prototype in the shop later on. it's made of linen, but I could make it from other, similar materials. I could probably also do a version with elasticised straps instead of short sleeves as well. it's got about 150cm of total stretch for the bust/waist (could be made bigger or smaller), fully elastic shoulders (can be worn off shoulder as well), cotton lace, and cotton lining. it's even machine washable. The coffee shop is short staffed. Blaine’s favorite barista isn’t there. They are training someone new who can’t seem to get the hang of things, and one of the espresso machines is down.

Blaine can’t be late to class. He just can’t.

It’s not that his professors care if he’s late, truthfully- NYU is massive, and most don’t bother learning names, let alone take attendance- but, well, it’s still early in the semester, and Blaine wants to leave a good impression.

He’s a good student. He likes school. He likes going to class and he likes New York, even if last semester had some… relationship challenges.

It’s a new year.

It’s a fresh start.

Anything can happen.

And, things are looking up. Blaine’s name is called, and his coffee, his saving grace, is gingerly placed on the counter.

Eager, Blaine smiles, pushes through the disgruntled crowd of customers, slaps on the vent lid, and turns on his heel to leave.

If he’s quick, he can make it to his lecture on time.

Blaine maneuvers his way out of the shop. It’s the second week of January and the temperature is well below freezing. But it’s not too bad. He got mittens for Christmas and they buffer the chill. His coffee is also radiating heat through the wool- another benefit of his patience. Today, he’ll stay warm, and once the coffee is cold enough to drink, everything will be perfect. It should be cold enough by the time he gets on the subway.

Blaine struggles to keep his school bag on his shoulder and hold his cup when he closes the glass door on his exit.

As he turns the corner, lost in thought, planning the quickest way to get to campus, he walks right into someone.

Like- right into them.

On reflex, Blaine squeezes the coffee cup to prevent it from flying out of his hands.

His mittens limit his dexterity.

The lid pops off.

Scalding liquid rises,

breeching the lip of Blaine’s to-go cup,

and coffee splatters all over the man in front of him.

…

Shit.

“Shit!” The man’s light blue down jacket is stained with Blaine’s dark-roast, and, unfortunately, the puffer wasn’t fully zipped- his button down underneath is also soaked, completely ruined.

Blaine gapes at the cup in his hand. It’s entirely empty. His gloves are sopping wet and his hands are on fire.

“I’m sorry,” he tries, shaking his head and hating how whiny he sounds. Are these gloves machine-washable? He’s sticky, in pain, and,

and he’s going to be late.

Shit. No way he’s not going to be late. “I was-That’s my fault.”

Blaine takes a second to collect himself and then musters the courage to meet the guy’s eyes.

And, when he does,

He freezes.

discovered a little while ago that the entire time i've lived in this flat (about 2 years) the washing machine has only been 50% functional. it's supposed to be hooked up to the hot water supply but there was nowhere to attach it so whoever installed it just didn't bother and as a result it can only wash with cold water. i just never noticed bcos i only ever use the cool cycle.

anyway as an oblique consequence of my eye problems having got worse, my laundry bin went mouldy* which is the kind of thing you need a hot cycle to deal with** and im still waiting on a permanent fix for my washing machine. theoretically i could go over to my new flat and wash it there in the (presumably) fully functional washing machine but idk if I'll have time for that before the weekend and I think someone is coming to fix or replace mine on Saturday anyway. or maybe just coming to quote? unclear.

just now occurred to me that the cool cycle might not work properly either so my clothes might just not have been washed properly in like 2 years. when you wash your clothes at 40 degrees (celsius) are they supposed to feel warm after? it's been so long since I used a different machine i don't remember. ETA: ok i just googled this and yes it's supposed to come out cold but i don't actually know if it gets warm at any point unfortunately.

anyway i have put the skin off my laundry bin in a bucket with some bleach overnight to see if that helps. not hopeful i think when this has happened in the past i've ended up replacing it.

(*dry eyes -> lots of warm compresses w wet washclothes -> too lazy to hang washclothes out to dry before tossing them in the laundry -> wet stuff in the laundry bin -> mould)

I now have both pink and black Skelebat rugs!

These are machine-tufted and with rubber non-skid backings. The "bones" are a bit raised, adding dimension to the design.

They're fully machine-washable and line dry just as soft as when they were brand new! Full washing instructions are on the fabric tags on them.

This decently complex head took me about 6 months over the past 4 years to make. I've grown a bit of an attachment, but all good things must come to an end. It was a fun project to work on while it lasted, but I have to admit, I am a bit tired of looking at it now.

I used howl fabric furs and pure plush minky from joann on the nose and inner ear. It is fully hand sewn and machine washable (on gentle cycle only). I don't know what made me design this guy this way, but I think it came out cute and unique :] I think it's supposed to be very vaugely cross fox, but idk. I have a bunch of napkin sketches, so maybe just wanted to make it readable in b/w...?

Anyway, I really like how this guy came out, I think it's a cutie pie.

It's 5AM so I'm forcing myself to go to bed but

I think I'm gonna be going to the convention.

It's a temporary Sly head and cannot be put in the washing machine, but I'm finally getting somewhere.

I am "furring" it like you traditionally build a fursuit head (foam and glue) rather than trying to achieve the final result using just soft sculpture sewing work (how the official Sly II's head works)

I am immensely disappointed that this ultimately comes down to "Finsterhund can't fucking replicate the Sly heads) but at least it looks like I'm going to have an end result that I can at least be seen in. That looks decent. Looks like a Sly.

So there's that.

Eventually, I do want a fully machine washable Sly head, but I guess gluing the fabric down to a solid base works for now. I'm in a rush. Whatever.

My dream of "Sly head where you can open and close the mouth using the snaps like with Sly II" is unreachable for now. This head will be permanently open so it's more of a Sly hat or a Sly headdress. *Shrugs*

So there's these things that are mass produced

Now imagine there's a full neck and throat pouch so it actually looks like you are the creature than just wearing its head. And imagine you can close the mouth using snaps. And imagine it's Sly. And imagine that is Andy Finsterhund wearing it.

That's what I was attempting.

The idea may be to just get one of these costume hats and see how it's made and then reverse engineering it. But I don't have the time for that right now.

It's also going to be (a) Sly I think. Not an OC. Because fabric is bullshit and I hate this shitty ass not silk stuff I thought I could line the head with but turns out it's a fucking nightmare to work with.

I need gluesticks though. I thought I knew where my reserve supply of them was but my room has since become the site of some sort of tornado or crime scene so it's impossible to find anything that isn't my fabric collection right now.

So the base is half with the fabric skin glued down. Currently just the upper half of the skull.

It's been a while since I've completed a project, but this was a good small project to ease myself back into things. This is supposed to be a dog sweater, but I went up one size to make it a little better for this little princess.

The project was very straightforward, but this is the first time I've knit something that has a hood.

Her health and safety are my top priority, so I don't keep it on her for very long because I'm afraid of her fur getting tangled/matted beneath it. Plus if she starts grooming herself, I help her out of it so that she can do that comfortably - the hoodie doesn't limit her movement or anything, it just, y'know, is covering her. She does seem to generally like wearing it, based on her behavior, but I'm erring on the side of caution because I know most cats don't like clothes. It's just a once in a while thing, I'm not an enormous fan of cat clothes overall.

Still, she looks adorable in her little hoodie 😻
