You know…Call me boring, call me a prude, call me a killjoy, call me a traitor to my identity, whatever, I’ve already wondered if I’m any of those things. But I’m not a fan of how increasingly common it is for books to be marketed based on how “spicy” they are, rather than the merit of their writing or the story that’s trying to be told.
#same goes for books that hype up the queer romance#representation is valid but why do we have to sacrifice good writing for it?#always remember that you deserve good writing#if a person is writing you their best then that’s one thing#but it’s another if they’re giving bottom of the barrel quality and rep#books shouldn’t have to bank on your thirst levels to be important to you or hope you don’t notice how poorly-written the rep or worlds are#it’s my opinion tho#so if this marketing method is the one that strokes your boat that’s your prerogative
