Same camera that takes crappy fried scrunched up pictures of cats when zoomed in without messing with settings
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know that thing where you see a gorgeous view (left) and try to take a picture of it, but your phone camera is a joyless fucking nihilist who refuses to see the beauty in anything and only sees this (right)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
#for the first 4 i remember only messing with the iso value because that was the only thing i knew back then#my default phone camera sucks ASS. so i was Driven to become a master at messing with the settings#perks of having an awful phone camera. it's peak incentive for you to start finding ways for the pictures to be less. awful#the camera of the poco x3 “”“”“”pro“”“”“”“ is nothing to brag about.#for one moment of captured beauty there could be 5 minutes of fiddling around.#“”“”“anyone could be a photographer”“”“”“ do you have what it takes to get to the right settings#which also happens to be in a reasonable amount of time#phone cameras will never. ever. beat actual cameras#having ai or whatever algorithm doing all the work for you might get you some nice pictures#but it will never get you the Authentic Photography Experience#twiddling with phone settings is the ultimate phone activity (other than messing with the picture editor)#(and looking through the settings app!!!!!!!!)#now imagine playing with the settings on an actual camera. hm.#THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT MAKES CAMERAS AND PHOTOGRAPHY SO APPEALING TO THE PHOTOGRAPHERS#PLAYING WITH SETTINGS IS FUN. FINALLY FIGURING OUT THE BEST SET OF SETTINGS BRINGS JOY#then said set of settings proceeds to work awfully for another picture 5 seconds later so hou start all over again with something new#all part of the Authentic Photograhy Experience.#so yeah. i got into photography all because my phone camera was hella shit#even though it calls itself the 48mp ai “”“”“”“”“super camera”“”“”“”“”“#the ai behind this camera must be pretty awful at shooting pictures#and that is why i prefer to take over control manually#i think this is a good example of creativity by necessity because i was driven to be creative due to the shittiness of my phone camera.#this is what a shitty phone camera can do to you#photography#reblog

Dinner with Aunt Denise & Uncle Jeff A Tale of Science Fair Photography
Ever since my parents died my aunt and uncle have done their best to fill some of the hole left in my heart. It almost feels like they adopted me in a way. They check on me. They help me clean. They helped me sort through all of my parents' belongings. And from time to time they invite me over for dinner when I'm feeling up to it.
Last week I got a new invitation. I had been feeling pretty lonely as of late so I graciously accepted. Before I left I saw my camera sitting on the table and realized I had this fancy new lens which is especially suited for taking pictures of people.
I thought to myself...
"This lens has only taken pictures of bridges at sunset."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which is cool and everything, but I don't really want my only photos to be of bridges at sunset. I like taking pictures of other things.
I didn't have any lighting equipment handy—just a single external flash. And without a solid plan for how I was going to use it, I quickly packed said flash and headed westward. As I saw the sun lowering in the sky above the highway my big photography brain had an idea...
"I should take pictures of *people* at sunset."
I needed a reflector of some kind to bounce my flash against. I thought poster board would probably suffice so I stopped at Walmart and headed to the arts and crafts area. I found these tri-fold poster board thingies that grade school kids use to display their science fair experiments.
Tumblr media
I got 2 for $7!
What a deal!
After I arrived I asked if my aunt & uncle minded having their photo taken. My aunt said she was fine with it but warned me that no one had ever been able to take a decent photo of her.
I'm typically not one to be braggadocious, but I replied...
"Well, that's because you've never had your photo taken by ME."
I'm not sure I should have been so cocky considering my lighting equipment is typically used to display the life cycle of earthworms, baking soda volcanos, and... potato batteries—which was the delightful and totally real project I just found on Google.
Tumblr media
Science Fair Entry from Billy, Age 10
After a delicious feast of bratwurst, salad, and non-electrified potatoes, I convinced my aunt and uncle to sit for a sunset photoshoot. They even helped me set up my science fair project.
Tumblr media
Science Fair Entry from Froggie, Age 42
I decided to do a quick test indoors to make sure my plan would work. Jeff volunteered for my first experiment.
Without my contraption...
Tumblr media
With my contraption...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think my experiment was quite promising. But would my idea hold up outside during the sunset with constantly dimming conditions?
We moved everything to the backyard. The tri-fold poster board was a bit ornery regarding its uprightness and needed to be tamed. My Uncle Jeff used a large rock, some pillows, and a step ladder to keep the makeshift reflectors in place.
I started taking test photos without the flash to figure out the background exposure.
Tumblr media
Those pesky power lines were going to need to be zapped later in Photoshop, but I was really digging the scenery.
I dialed everything in, started taking photos, and even on the little rear camera screen I felt like they were turning out well. With the sun setting the sky looked like it was on fire. But then the batteries died in my flash and I was starting to lose that fiery sky as darkness began to creep into view.
Unfortunately, all of the potatoes were in our bellies so my aunt scrambled to find regular batteries in the house.
This photoshoot had become a complete team effort with everyone doing their part to make it a success.
Surprisingly it was my Uncle Jeff was giving me some bona fide model poses. He just naturally has some sort of... resting model face. Very masculine and authentic. And my Aunt Denise is just pure sunshine manifested as a person. So I had no problems getting nice expressions from her.
So... would you like to see the pictures?
Will I get a blue ribbon on my science fair project?
Am I building up the suspense too much?
Okay, here we go...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I suppose the only validation I really need is from the person who has never had a decent photo taken of them.
Let's see the verdict.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All of those hours and hours of photography training helped me learn the problem solving skills I needed to pull off a photoshoot with seven dollars in supplies.
Take a small light source, bounce it off something larger, and you get a big light source.
And big light sources make people look snazzy in photographs.
Easy!
Tumblr media
Are you kidding me?
I lost to the potato kid?
What kind of rigged nonsense...

Do you have autism headcanons for the Bats? Or any superhero really
Oh my god absolutely! But also I did misread this and started talking about all my superhero headcanons so now I have all these headcanons and nowhere to put them lmao
The gimme is Tim. Look me in the eye and tell me he doesn't have autistic swag, I dare you. That boy pulls BECAUSE of his autism. You just know the hyperfocus is strong with this one. He gets into a case and learns everything there is to know about it. He'll talk your ear off about photography and you won't even mind because it's the most animated you've seen him in a solid like six weeks. His sense of humor is also so fucking weird. If you're close friends with an autistic person you know exactly what I mean. We're the funniest people on earth but if you don't know the exact thing we're referencing it makes zero sense. That's okay, we know we're funny. The rest of the world is weird for always reacting strangely to our jokes is all. Also he gets migraines when he gets sensory overload
Bruce also has autistic swag, but his just makes him awkward. He's less likely to hyperfocus accidentally, but you betcha detective work IS his special interest. y'all seen elementary? He's like that version of Sherlock, he's just made it his business to know everything there is to know about Being Batman. His social skills are in the pits, but his masking game is strong - you think Tim's awkward around people, but if Bruce were to unmask he'd just become a shut in. The Brucie personality IS masking fight me
Damian is also autistic and the pickiest eater you'll ever meet. Do you know what's it like being a picky eater AND a vegetarian? Cause I do and it very simply means you never have anything to eat when you're not at home. His list of safe foods is short and consists mostly of middle eastern food. His social skills are as bad as his father but he simply never learned to mask and doesn't understand the point. He gets easily overwhelmed by Bad Textures, whether food or clothing, and (like me) the ensuing meltdown looks like extreme anger. Poor kid simply never learned to regulate his emotions :/
Also not what you asked but you'll pry bipolar!Jason and ADHD!Dick from my cold dead hands
As for other heroes it REALLY depends on how he's written but Peter Parker being autistic is absolutely a consideration. In every iteration ever he has GAD, but there are absolutely versions of him that Need To Be Squished Under A Weighted Blanket Right Now. He manages to channel his hyperfocus energy into experiments and his hyper empathy is exactly what would make him a great teacher and mentor to other heroes LET HIM SETTLE DOWN MARVEL STOP RUINING HIS HAPPINESS (@stackthedeck has SEVERAL rants on the subject and he's so right for that)
Reed Richards is currently being written as autistic by Ryan North, I don't even need to explain this one
Not technically a superhero but arguably superhero media, I hc Willow Rosenberg from Buffy as autistic. She's had multiple SpIns and hyperfixations in her life, but computers and magic are her longest standing ones. I honestly think a lot of Willow's insecurities about how people perceive her can easily be read as her learning to mask but being frustrated that she's not being her authentic self
Well that's it for now hit me up for Jewish hcs cause I literally was two paragraphs in before I realized that's not what you asked for

All Is Fair - jilliancares

It’s never made much sense that he was son of the Goddess of love, seeing as he didn’t even believe in it. Ethereal - sin-n-city
Summary: AU- Super powers. Dan’s not normal. In fact, he’s never met a single person exactly like him. No one else can move objects with their mind, just by a simple thought. Feel Good Inc. - melancholymango
Summary: Dan is your local sexually ambiguous religious boy. Phil is your local bad boy that sleeps with anyone that’ll have him and sins as if second nature. Then there’s also the poor original character that gets caught between them and their ridiculous amount of sexual tension. Threesomes, eh?
Fell In Love With You From The First Note - doomedhowell
Summary: Phil has always been entranced by the piano covers uploaded by howell music on YouTube, it was a daily routine of his to play covers of his favorite ghibli songs while getting ready in the morning. Imagine his shock when he finds the pianist sat in next to him in his English Class…
Flashes of Innocence - paradisobound
Summary: Phil Lester was an aspiring photographer, trying to fine tune his skills in a black and white photography class. Cue Daniel Howell, the attractive male that walks in one day and captures Phil’s eyes. But Dan has a small secret, he needs help. He runs a Tumblr blog and he needs someone to shoot his photos for him. But there’s a catch that Phil doesn’t know right away. Dan runs a NSFW porn blog and he’s asking Phil to help him recreate authentic photos.
Head Down Low - camisadan
Summary: (TW) Dan isn’t right. He’s not like most of the others, he’s not genetically pure. He has no destined path, he has nothing going for him in life. home is where the wifi connects automatically - oqua12

Jesus Christ, That’s a Pretty Face - botanistlester

Look in the Mirror - botanistlester
Summary: As soon as Dan saw the mirrored ceiling in the back lounge of the tour bus, he knew he was in trouble.
Photoshoot Frenzy - doomedhowell
Summary: Phil owns a popular modelling company and when he doesn’t have a model for his client for a shoot, his boyfriend Dan… who’s just a regular teenager studying law at University, offers to be the model. Of course Phil doesn’t say no to that. But when the fame and paparazzi get to much, Dan breaks down and luckily Phil is there to comfort him
Polaroids - velarisstars

Starstruck - paradisobound
Summary: Phil attends all of Dan Howell’s concerts. In fact, he makes it a rule to even record every one he goes to. You could say he was in love with Dan Howell and in fact, that wouldn’t be a lie because he’s actually Dan’s fiancé. Too bad Dan’s fans see him as the creepy guy at Dan’s concerts.
Talking to the Moon - adorablehowell
Summary: Dan hides away from the melancholy in his life by sitting on the balcony with the stars as his only source of happiness, but he encounters a man named Phil who likes to sing songs on his own balcony, and Dan finds the stars are not his only friends out there.

The Human Requirement to Breathe - philsdrill
Summary: It’s a difficult life for Dan. Being famous and recognisable isn’t easy when you’re walking through a crowd of people… especially when you’re claustrophobic. Phil runs a coffee shop and an unusual customer ends up meaning more to him than he ever expected.
Too Tense To Be Undone - auroraphilealis
Summary: Dan’s never had an orgasm before. Despite being in a relationship with his ex-girlfriend for three years, he’s just never been able to finish. The doctor’s don’t know what’s wrong with him, so Dan’s mostly put it out of his mind. Until his gap year, when he starts talking with AmazingPhil, and accidentally admits that he’s never come before. Phil’s happy to help with more than just convincing Dan to post YouTube videos, if Dan will just give him the chance.
Unintended - zeldainhiding
Summary: Foreston Academy was the very last resort for angry, lonely Dan Howell. He never could have imagined meeting anyone like Phil Lester, and Phil never could have known that befriending his new roommate would change his life entirely.
Is there such a thing as being too forgiving?
Unraveling - yuurisnice
Summary: Dan knew he was different from other children very early on. He never lost his ‘imaginary friends’, they only became a more integral part of his life. Living with his illness is never easy and with a secret as large as his, cracks are bound to appear. While he isn’t ashamed of his DID, he knows the consequences of telling the wrong people.
We Built This House on Memories - darling-phil
Summary: A look into Dan and Phil’s relationship over the years from the moment Dan bought his train tickets in 2009 to Phil stealing his cereal in 2016.
Weave Me into Your Skin - botanistlester
Summary: When Phil finds a pair of panties mixed in with his and Dan’s laundry, he’s not sure what to think, consider he’s certain neither of them has brought home a girl in the past few weeks. What’s even stranger is what he finds in Dan’s room when he goes to inquire about the offending garmen
When the Sun Comes Up - thatsmistertoyou
Summary: But between the good moments, when the quiet stretches a bit too long with words neither of them have the guts to say, when Dan aches to remember what it’s like to be madly in love with no other cares in the world, they’re fragile. And he’s terrified, more than anything else, that they’re going to slip away faster than the water running down the tiles - or Phil’s grip on the wall that one time they tried to fuck in the shower - if they acknowledge it. There’s still so much love between them, but Dan doesn’t know what to do with it anymore.
Where There’s A Will - camisadan
Summary: sex basically (bit of dirty talk on dan's part hhh)
Yellow - washedoutgay

Nature can be interpreted in any way that someone sees fit. Some may view nature solely as something that serves humans while others may see it as something to destroy. While I do not personally agree with this, everything is subjective and it is up to the interpreter. I view nature with wonder and beauty. Nature forms many patterns, with different materials, colours and backgrounds. There are unlimited combinations of plants and animals that will always create a different scene. This is the beauty of nature, you can take a picture of it anywhere and it will always look different.
Paintings are a great way that humans can express themselves through art in association with nature. Cave paintings that show humans, animals and landscapes together date back thousands of years. Although this has evolved into canvases with paint using brushes, it is much of the same thing. Painting nature allows someone to connect with it and realize its beauty without even being within it. When someone paints, they can add their own spin on nature and take it somewhere nature would not typically be found. We have been capable of seeing the beauty of nature for quite some time and have found many ways to portray it.
To me, the gift of beauty is subjective just like nature's interpretation is. I see the gift of beauty as having the want or need to connect with nature and that it provides some level of happiness. When I visited Hawaii this summer, I got to experience nature like I have never seen before. I saw volcanoes that were so tall they went above the cloud level. There were so many unique species of plants that looked so different than what I'm used to seeing in Ontario. I was in awe for much of my trip, just taking in all the beautiful scenery that surrounded me. This was me experiencing the gift of beauty. My trip had a rather large mishap that took place in the middle of it, but the things I saw put that experience in the shadows. Everyone will hopefully see beauty in some form of nature, but like I said before, there are many forms.
I love to capture the beauty of nature within a picture I take on my phone. When I got to pick a new phone I made sure to get the best camera on the market so I could capture nature as authentic as possible. Photography is another way that people can artistically connect with nature. You can take a photo from any angle that you prefer to create a beautiful mirage of landscape, flora and fauna. There are so many ways someone can edit a photo as well to have fun while still keeping nature as a template. Being able to see beauty in nature can help offset the negative things in someone's life and provide a deep meaningful connection to something that most people crave.

Different Styles of Cameras
Throughout my unprofessional career in photography I have used 3 different kinds of cameras and they all served different purposes when learning throughout the years. In this post I am going to be covering these 3 cameras, their uses, pros/cons, and who should be using them. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction when choosing a camera for yourself!
GOPRO
GOPRO’s have become a very popular choice of camera in recent years due to their size, durability, price, and surprisingly amazing quality. These cameras are so small that you can place them anywhere such as on drones, surfboards, and helmets while also having hands free shooting to get unique action angles. Another cool perk about the GOPRO is that they are all waterproof or come with waterproof housing so you can literally take this camera anywhere. The first camera I ever started shooting on was a GOPRO HERO 3, and for my 14-year-old self this was all I needed because I could bring it everywhere and was able to run it through the dirt. Although there are a lot of pros when it comes to this camera, there are also a handful of cons as well. The GOPRO’s small size makes it amazing for interesting versatile angles, but this also means that the view finder on the back is very small and many actually don’t even have one. This means that when you’re taking pictures you will not be able to fully see what you’re capturing until the picture/video is taken and reviewed on your laptop or phone. Another downside to this camera is that you do not have full control over exposure settings which can limit the user ability to customize a photo/video as they please. This camera is perfect for someone who already has existing cameras and wants to add cool angles into the mix, or for someone who is adventurous, not very particular about their shots, and more looking to document experiences.
Tumblr media
FILM CAMERAS
Although film is an old technology when it comes to photography, recently it has come back in style because it provides an authentic vintage look without any editing. With a film camera you will not be able to review your content until you take it into a camera shop and pay to get the film developed (which can take up to 2 weeks) but the beauty and artistic look it provides is unmatched. Another pro about film cameras is their price. Because film is an outdated technology, film cameras tend to be very cheap, but you will have to spend money on buying/developing film which averages out to around $1 per photo. This year I purchased a few film cameras and started shooting concerts and skateboarding with them and the photos have been phenomenal. The film adds a look to the pictures that you would never be able to achieve through just editing. If you’re looking for a cheap camera that can give you an artistic vintage look, you don’t care about getting the perfect shot, and you are fine with purchasing/developing film I would highly recommend trying out a film camera. In my personal experience shooting film has been one of the most fun and rewarding ways to shoot because I love the development process and the vintage imperfect look it provides.
Tumblr media
MIRRORLESS CAMERAS
Now to the bread and butter of cameras, the mirrorless camera. A mirrorless camera is pretty much a newer super compact DLSR without an internal mirror to reflect the image onto the sensor. *SIDENOTE* I was going to make this category mirrorless cameras and DLSR’s but in todays day you can get a mirrorless camera for just about as much as a DLSR so in my opinion DLSR’s are dying and not worth the buy. Mirrorless cameras are capable of creating incredible high-resolution photos while also able to film quality videos, some up to 4k 120FPS and higher. These cameras also have interchangeable lenses and you are able to customize every function on the camera so the possibilities of what you can create are endless. The downside to these cameras is their battery life and their price. Because these cameras use so much technology, they burn through the batteries pretty fast so if you are going for a photo shoot, you must be sure to bring backups. Mirrorless cameras are a decently new camera style and currently the highest performing model of camera on the market causing them to be a bit pricey. These cameras usually run between $600-$2500 for the camera body and then you must buy a lens on top of that. If you are willing to spend the money and are looking for a very high performing camera, I would 100% recommend getting a mirrorless camera. I promise you will not regret it and you will never go back to anything else.

Essential Tips for First-Time Visitors in Thailand
Tumblr media
Planning that first trip to any country can feel overwhelming, and this is Thailand. Between choosing destinations to visit, figuring out public transportation, and wondering about cultural norms, there are hundreds of things to consider.
But don't worry, we are here to break it all down for you.
Thai Culture
When visiting Thailand, the first thing that you need to do is embrace the local customs. The Thai greeting called Wai involves pressing your palms together at chest level with a slight bow.
Then you must remember to dress modestly, especially when visiting religious places. Your shoulders and knees should be covered, and yes, that also means those temple selfies require proper attire.
Thai people are also respectful of that monarchy, so always show respect when discussing or seeing images of the royal family. This also extends to handling Thai currency, which bears the image of the king.
The Bustling Streets
Now, let's talk about Bangkok where most journeys begin. The city can be overwhelming at first, but that's a part of its charm.
The Grand Palace is one of the must-visit landmarks, showcasing intricate architecture and religious significance. Please try to arrive early to beat both the heat and the crowds.
To get around Bangkok smoothly, take the BTS Skytrain and MRT subway systems. They are efficient, fast and air-conditioned.
And while taking a taxi, insist on using the meter, and keep small bills handy.
Food Adventures
One of the biggest joys of Thailand is experiencing the delightful street food. From pad thai to som tam, the flavours are incredible
Just look for busy stalls with high turnover. That is where the locals eat and that's where you will get the most authentic and safest food.
Beach Life
Thai islands have something to offer for every visitor. Whether you are looking to explore quiet beaches or vibrant nightlife, there is an island that matches your style.
The Andaman Sea also provides stunning scenery and exciting activities in Krabi, from rock climbing to island hopping.
You can visit during shoulder season, between main tourist peaks. During this time you can enjoy better rates and fewer crowds while still enjoying good weather.
 Temple Etiquettes
While entering Buddhist temples, please remove your shoes and never point your feet towards the Buddha images.
Women must avoid touching or handing items directly to monks, as this goes against their religious principles.
Speak softly and be mindful of photography rules when exploring the temples.
Transportation Tips
Domestic flights are affordable and at the same time, while overnight trains offer a unique experience and also help you save on accommodation costs.
For Island hopping, check out the ferry schedules.
Local buses also provide an authentic experience but require patience and flexibility.
Staying Safe
While Thailand is generally safe for travelers, common sense goes a long way. Keep your belongings secure, especially in crowded areas.
Don't forget to get travel insurance which covers both health issues and potential trip disruptions.
If you are looking to rent a scooter, always wear a helmet and ensure you have proper coverage.
Local Currency and Bargaining
The country has several ATMs in tourist areas, but please inform your bank about travel plans to avoid car issues.
When bargaining at markets, remember that this is a part of the culture, but try to keep it friendly and respectful. Walking away politely often leads to better prices than aggressive haggling.
Also keep some local bills handy for local purchases and transport. Larger currency might be difficult to break at smaller vendors or for tuk-tuk rides.
Weather Considerations
The tropical climate of Thailand means light, breathable clothing is essential. So, pack a light rain jacket or umbrella, regardless of season.
Oh, you don't need to overpack. The country has several affordable clothing and essential shops.
You need to consider the activities you are planning. For temple visits, wear modest clothing, while beach destinations call for sun protection and swimwear.
And finally a small first-aid kit and prescription medications are wise additions.
Local Connections
Learning a few basic Thai phrases shows respect and often leads to warmer interactions with locals. Even though English is majorly spoken in tourist areas, simple greetings and thank you in Thai will make a huge difference in your experience.
Most cafes and hotels offer free Wi-Fi, but our advice would be to get a local sim card for convenient navigation and communication. They are pretty cheap and easily available at airports and convenience stores.
Conclusion
Remember that flexibility and patience are your best friends when travelling to Thailand. Things might not always go according to plan, but these unexpected moments create the most unforgettable experiences.

Peter McKinnon did a video with a photographer named Garrett King. And he just went on a very long rant about lazy photographers who use Photoshop and "fixing it in post."
Tumblr media
He continues... "You can't do that in film. You can't just make a bad decision and say "Oh, I'll fix it in post." (Not true. There was plenty of editing in dark rooms in the past. And now you can scan a film photo and literally manipulate it like a digital photo.) Fix it in post drives me nuts. That statement is so played out. It drives me nuts that people say that. Cuz dude, I don't work that way."
He also says that choosing film is the "hard path" and keeps talking about how lazy photographers who photoshop are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love film photography. I have an old Minolta that my mom gave me that I hope to restore and use someday.
But film photographers drive *me* nuts sometimes.
IT'S NOT A COMPETITION!
BOTH THINGS ARE COOL!
This idea that their way of making art is more valid or authentic than my way of making art is just a continuation of an old school mentality that really needs to die. There are still some photographers who will bully people because they use autofocus or aperture priority mode.
I actually think learning to be really good at Photoshop is much more challenging than learning to be good at photography. Sure, there are fields like photographic microscopy and product photography that require years to master, but I've been learning Photoshop for 20 years and I feel like I have barely scratched the surface of what is possible.
I have seen people with near 0 experience take an amazing picture.
I have seen people who barely know how their camera works take consistently good photos. It's the "using only power chords" version of photography.
But I have never seen someone with 0 experience photoshop something artistically impressive.
When people say "that looks Photoshopped" as if that is an insult, it really breaks my heart. Photoshop was a huge reason for my success. My ability to lay in bed and make funny things was essential to building my blog.
Tumblr media
My post on Karl Taylor's Clinque photoshoot had so many comments saying his work "looked photoshopped" and it was a little frustrating.
Firstly because he actually sculpts with light and isn't actually very good at Photoshop. When he takes a picture, it pretty much looks like that from the start. The rest is just minor compositing work and blemish removal.
And secondly, because that kind of product photography predates Photoshop. Karl was doing this when Photoshop was just a baby.
In fact, still life photography was inspired by Dutch paintings of fruit and shit.
Tumblr media
They were all, "I cannot stand sitting with another yappy model for days on end. I'm sick of people. I'm just going to paint *stuff* but with really amazing lighting."
But it is also frustrating because there is this mentality that digital tools are lesser. As if digital artists just press a few buttons and cheat-code their way into good images.
It's the same mentality people have about CGI. CG artists are the modern day sculpturists. They do the same thing as Michaelangelo or Rodin, just with different tools and in a different medium. Oh, but they also animate their sculptures in thousands of frames in multiple dynamic lighting environments all while maintaining photorealism.
To me, Thanos is just as artistically impressive as the statue of David or The Thinker.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Blair Bunting is a very talented photographer who mixes incredible photographic technique and lighting with his amazing photo manipulation skills.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And while these photos may not be as "authentic" as that film photographer's picture of a dude sitting on a truck...
Tumblr media
I can assure you no laziness was involved in Blair's process.
Also, I really didn't want to bring up disability. But it is really difficult for me to do the physical process of photography. Sometimes I do not have the energy to get the perfect "in camera" exposure. Sometimes I won't even check my settings and I will snap a picture knowing that I can make it cool with editing. I just look at the histogram, make sure the data I need is there, and do the rest on my computer.
During my adventure to photograph a bridge in Alton, I was only able to take 6 photos. Usually I will take hundreds in a session. My fatigue got the better of me and I nearly had to go to the hospital after walking up a hill. (I was having a bad day. I'm better now.) I didn't get the photos I wanted to get. And on the way down that hill, as I was out of breath, I pulled out my phone and tried to snap a pic of something cool I saw in front of me. The phone had been set 2 stops underexposed from a previous shot and so the picture was pretty much all in shadow. And because I was walking super slow, I had just missed the sun over the horizon.
Tumblr media
But it's a RAW file. And I knew I could probably do something with it. I could "fix it in post." Not because I was being lazy. Mostly because I was trying not to hyperventilate. Apparently, my body can't handle slight inclines any longer.
And this is what I came up with.
Tumblr media
I'm not saying this is an amazing photo. And it would have been really cool if I hadn't missed the sun. But this is what my eyes saw as I came down the hill and I was able to recreate that with digital tools.
I think that is pretty cool.

Memories in the Making: Why You Should Hire a Photo Booth
Introduction
In the age of smartphones and social media, capturing memories has become an integral part of our lives. From weddings and birthday parties to corporate events and family gatherings, we cherish the moments we spend with loved ones and strive to preserve them in photographs. While professional photographers are often hired to document these special occasions, there's another option that adds an extra layer of fun and excitement: hiring a photo booth. In this comprehensive guide, we'll explore the many reasons why you should consider hiring a photo booth for your next event.
Tumblr media
The Power of Photography:
Photographs have a unique ability to transport us back in time and evoke emotions long after the moment has passed. Whether it's a candid snapshot of friends laughing together or a posed family portrait, photographs have the power to capture the essence of a moment and preserve it for eternity. In today's digital age, where every moment can be documented with the tap of a screen, the value of professional photography and photo booth rentals has never been higher.
Adding Fun and Excitement:
One of the main reasons to hire a photo booth for your event is the fun and excitement it brings to the occasion. Unlike traditional photography, which can sometimes feel staged or formal, photo booths encourage guests to let loose and express themselves freely. From silly faces and goofy poses to heartfelt moments and group shots, photo booths capture the spontaneous and authentic moments that make events memorable.
Encouraging Interaction and Engagement:
Photo booths act as a social catalyst, bringing people together and encouraging interaction and engagement. Whether it's old friends reconnecting over a shared laugh or strangers bonding over a funny photo, photo booths create opportunities for guests to connect and forge lasting memories. The interactive nature of photo booths, with their props, backdrops, and customizable prints, sparks creativity and encourages guests to get involved in the fun.
Creating Lasting Memories:
At the heart of it all, hiring a photo booth is about creating lasting memories that you and your guests will cherish for years to come. The prints from the photo booth serve as tangible mementos of the event, reminding guests of the laughter, joy, and camaraderie they shared. Whether displayed in a scrapbook, hung on a wall, or tucked away in a photo album, these prints serve as a tangible reminder of the special moments you shared with loved ones.
Personalization and Customization:
Another compelling reason to hire a photo booth is the opportunity for personalization and customization. Photo booths can be tailored to match the theme or style of your event, with customizable backdrops, props, and print designs. Whether you're planning a rustic wedding, a vintage-themed party, or a corporate event with a specific brand identity, photo booths can be customized to complement your vision and enhance the overall guest experience.
Practical Considerations:
In addition to the fun and excitement they bring, photo booths also offer practical benefits for event planners and hosts. For weddings and other formal events, photo booths provide an alternative form of entertainment for guests during downtime, such as cocktail hour or between courses. They also serve as a valuable keepsake for guests to take home at the end of the night, ensuring they leave with more than just memories.
Affordability and Accessibility:
Despite their many benefits, photo booths are surprisingly affordable and accessible for a wide range of events and budgets. With a variety of packages and rental options available, you can find a photo booth that fits your needs and budget without breaking the bank. Whether you're hosting an intimate gathering or a large-scale event, there's a photo booth package to suit your needs.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, hiring a photo booth for your next event is a decision you won't regret. From adding fun and excitement to encouraging interaction and engagement, photo booths enhance the guest experience and create lasting memories that you and your guests will cherish for years to come. With their personalization options, affordability, and accessibility, photo booths offer a unique and memorable addition to any event, whether it's a wedding, birthday party, corporate event, or family reunion. So why wait? Make memories in the making with a photo booth rental at your next event!

How can I get better at doing social media? Someone said you went viral before and I have always wanted to try but I feel embarrassed trying
omg idk how to “do social media” either but what i can say is that the videos/pics/posts that have ever gone viral for me have been a direct truth from my own experiences/personality & happened to go viral by accident. i never thought i’d go viral so many times! i also had sm fun creating them, have always loved digital art since i was a little girl, took so many videography/photography classes in college so rly i’m just having fun & most likely dying laughing before posting it!! be you, you’re a 1 of 1 out of 8 BILLION other human beings & cannot possibly be duplicated so be authentic, let your interests/passions drive you & if you’re embarrassed bc of what others might think…literally FUCK THEM bc odds are they wish they had the balls to do it themselves
