Regarding existence of humans before Elvhenan

After seeing the Manifestation memory/regret, I had been wondering whether the word "humans" used there was just a matter of "translation" from elven and therefore misleading, or did it's usage mean that humans already existed back there. Now I found out that if you play as human, Mythal confirms it was the latter:

It doesn't provide any hints as to what was the origin of humans, but at least now we know their existence is not one of side effects of the Veil (I suspect this will remain one of the unanswered mysteries of Thedas, though I would personally find it funny if the answer as to who made DA humans was evolution, considering the amount of thought I'd already put into theoretising about the more fantastical answers)
