Has anyone ever asked you what your favorite books are? I am always so curious what you read because I love what you write :)
okay a) tysm!!!!! and b) i dont know if ive been asked before but i can give a list of my favourites for you!!
my number 1 flips between the picture of dorian gray and stephen king's the stand. dorian gray shaped who i am as a human being and i 100% would not be who i am today had i not read that book as a teen, but the stand is objectively The Book of my life and i don't think anything will ever usurp it. it is the most perfect deep dive into humanity and the ways in which goodness can and will prevail over everything so long as we don't lose sight of what is important: OTHER HUMANS!!!! it is So incredibly moving and not really (imo) horror in the overtly gore-horror way.
other favourites (just based on my bookshelf to my side):
middlemarch, for obvious reasons. a little life (i am a little life defender tho i know it's a very controversial one!). john halifax, gentleman by dinah mulock craik (one of the best classics i have EVER read - imo a queer-coded book about lifelong friendship!!!!!). we are the ants (heavy and fucked me up for a while). private peaceful (incredible childrens/early teens book about ww1). the song of achilles (duh).
also other stephen king favourites (because he's a league of his own lol):
11/22/63 (a book we all should read), IT, the green mile, the long walk!!!!
#these violent delights is very much probably on this list as well but i need more time to process it#but it made me feel the way that dorian gray and middlemarch did so its definitely a favourite#i also have the secret history on my favourites shelf as well as TSITP so that really says all you need to know about my reading habits#ask
