idk if you've talked abt it already but i think my least favorite part of the new series, and honestly a gripe with g4 too, is how shit end of the stick earth ponies have it. i really think that giving earth ponies clearly defined magic to explore would have been so much cooler than just. these are earth ponies, which basically are the absence of cool powers. like come on

youve come to the right place about earth ponies my dude my pal earth ponies are my everything, in g4 it is heavily implied that earth ponies Do in fact have magic its just veeeery subtle and sort of. dormant i guess? the very best example of it is the applepear tree that sprouted from bright mac and pear butters wedding. its the physical manifestation of their love, pear trees are pear shaped, apple trees are apple shaped but the applepear tree twisted together into the shape of a heart and its just really symbolic of Them (and their children!!) bringing the two families together though love!! idk i personally really like how.. under the radar earth pony magic is? like it doesnt Seem like anything special but it can do some really incredible things given a little bit of patience, like not every display of magic has to be in your face big and bold like a unicorns everyday glittery shiny magic or a massive sonic rainboom. it can be closer to home, something a pony Works for, something more personal to the individual yknow?

and as for g5 i feel like earth pony magic might be something thats gonna be delved into a little more deeply when the series comes out, if you watch the end credits scene with the three foals, we see one of their sets hoofprints start to glow as they run, and its the earth pony foal's that do it! its not like concrete evidence that ep magic Will be explored in the show it just makes me kinda excited that it IS a possibility going forward i guess lol

i guess the appeal of earth ponies to me is like. even if no one Thinks theyre anything special, even themselves, they still ARE yknow they all still have a little spark in them that has Effects in the world around them, even if theyre not aware of it or around to see it :']
