the general north america public focusing on "saving the honeybees" and their deepest mainstream discourse being "but do we really need honey?" (which isn't the goddamn point of caring about pollinators anyway) despite honey bees being a non-native species to the continent and ignoring all the native and esp. the native specialist pollinators (that don't make honey but are like the goddamn glue of all life forms and societal pillars relying on flowering plants in any way) is like western/mainstream media going "kpop? oh u mean b*s? lame. [insert dismissive and/or racist comment here]"
#also insert the white vegans talking abt 'stealing honey from the bees'#girl. if u have like a personal or religious stance to not take any animal product then i get it#but in terms of ethics + sustainability + biodiversity (esp in Europe where honeybees are native but even in other continents too)#rearing honeybees is beneficial to both species and is NOT unethical#they naturally make surplus honey in case smth goes wrong in the wild i.e. idk a bear steals some#so if we provide 1. shelter 2. protection 3. monitoring 4. food supply.... they dont need that effin surplus#but anyway thats besides the point of the analogy of the post
