i think rly what it comes down to w/ bi lesbians is that its like. im sorry people have mangled ur label so much that u feel uncomfortable with it, but the solution is reclaimation, not... doubling down?
like this happened w lesbians too, a lot of lesbians struggle, moreso in the past, aligning themselves with a term thats been used to mean mean, ugly, predator. it wasn't easy. every lesbian you meet grappled with it. but we have all come out the other side full of love for what and who we are.
"i need people to know im attracted to women too" you do have that word. its bisexual. i KNOW other communities take it as straight girl trying to get attention, that's not the word's fault. it has always since the birth of the bisexual flag meant attraction to everyone, it has never decreed how much or how often, it has always been a home for you. you're really going to run away from it? you think bisexual, and the history behind it, and the centuries of proud bisexuals behind you aren't enough to stand beside you, are you really that ashamed, you need to pare and quantify and make up excuses as to why it's not enough?
lesbian is not an umbrella term. sapphic is an umbrella term. wlw is an umbrella term. if your argument is "straight people don't know those words," "i like women" works perfectly fine. if your main issue is the idea of monosexuals who claim non-attraction to groups of people, i hope you hold the same umbridge for gay men and heterosexuals as a whole. you likely don't. you should really ask yourself why a lesbian fills you with rage but a straight woman does not, in full sincerity. ask yourself that.
yes, we live in a cissexist, heteronormative society, people are assholes, and they erase you at every turn. the answer is not to start aggressively erasing others. the answer is digging in your heels and screaming at the top of your lungs. bisexual has always been enough. bisexual is beautiful. you should be proud of it.
