i have been putting this off but. pregnancy headcanons with maverick and zachary, because im a horrible person

when mav misses his first period, he doesnt really notice, given he has more things to think about like currently being in a traumatizing situation. i dont think he would even realize at all until the second month comes and hes like "wait a second i dont think i had my period last month"

however, zachary did notice since the first month, given he was the one who provided tampons for him, and got very very excited. he knew it could be due to stress though, considering maverick has been recently forbidden from leaving the house and needed "time to adjust".

mav was extremely distraught when he gave him a pregnancy test and said to use it. dude didnt even wanted to think about it and then he was slapped in the face with it.

he wanted to deny doing it, but his brain still worked a little and thought it wouldnt help anyone. so he did it and was not only slapped in the face, the reality threw rocks at him.

thought he was hallucinating when he saw the positive result. what he was seeing was real?

knew that it was real when zach let out a scream. a happy scream! meanwhile mav started to dissociate

dissociated the entire pregnancy basically. he couldnt assume he was pregnant and didnt recognized his body as his, specially when the pregnancy started to be obvious.

meanwhile zach was acting like they were a happy couple who had the best news of their life. he took pictures every month to see how the baby was growing, alongside kissing and touching his belly and being EVEN more affectionate.

mav was allowed for that period to leave the house, but only for controls and zach had to be there, and advised not to say "suspicious things" or either "he would do something he absolutely doesnt want to do". considering burning was zachary's favorite method of punishment, he was lucky maverick didnt had any marks on there.

and talking about punishments, they stopped for a while. zachary didnt wanted anything to happen to the baby. still verbally degraded him, though, although way softer

maverick got into labor when zachary wasnt in the house, and he freaked out. even worse he couldnt go to the hospital due to not having access to a phone or any form of communication. so when zach came home, he found a screaming mav trying his best to push "whatever was there".

considering doctors couldnt exactly go to "their" house, mav was forced to give birth with a panicked zach and without any help from an actual professional. thankfully the birthing didnt took THAT much and the baby was born without any complications. they took the baby to the doctor after it, though.

this is a bonus, but im not sure whether it would be worse for mav that the baby was more similar to him, to zach, or an obvious mix of both. i think he would prefer that they were more similar to zachary though, as he could just try to think thats only his baby, and doesnt have any relation to him. seeing a tiny human that is way too similar to him would break the dissociated barrier he tried to create as a way to protect himself. he already had top surgery at the time, so thats the perfect excuse not to breastfeed them. zach is kinda bummed by that, though, he wanted to share that moment.
