Tis I again! Idk if you got my last message, but I apologize for my rambling if you did. I hope Im not bothering you either!! How are you and Zombie-Nymph doing? Well I hope! I absolutely love your new fic!!! Poor Nikolaevich; first those kids n now Leonid. The personality of your characters is just *chefs kiss* I wish i could explain it; how they actually act lifelike and not some YA protaganist (not a bad thing, but w/ stories like that it makes it soooooooooo much better), how they are so distinct, and how their flaws and strengths work together.
And Zombie-Nymphs Antanov art!!! I can't get over her art in general, but drawing a gas mask well!?!? Especially the hose and how it moves; the depth and perspective is *mwah*. The little details on the hat, mouth piece and tube end. The way the simplicity of the eyes and mask compliment each other. And of course the colors and shading! They work so well together and the mask looks like I could just.. Grab it or touch it; and it would feel right, if that makes sense?
I wanted to send a msg sooner, but my brain is a bitch ;-;. Happy I can say hi again now lmao. Im glad to see you guys posting works again and Im hoping that life has been just as good as them!!! <3
I am so, so sorry, anon!!! slkdfjsl idk how it took me over a month to respond to this. But I am such an idiot. I feel really guilty about this and I hope I didn't make you feel like a bother. Once again, my overthinking came into play. I hope we can still talk over asks still. But if not, I totally understand with how long it took for me to respond. You are absolutely not bothering me at all! And you weren't rambling especially since I loved to get that ask from you! I just overthought stuff too much and with some stress going on in my life, it slipped from my mind.
Anyways, my anxious mind aside, me and Zombie-Nymph are doing well! Thank you for asking! I hope you are doing well too, anon!
Also, in regards to Zombie-Nymph's art, Ikr!!! Her art is so good!!! She actually drew another thing and I hope she posts it soon since it involves another Russian character I simp for XD. I tag @zombie-nymph in this so she can see as definite proof that her art is so great!!!
And awww thank you so much for sending this ask! I really appreciate it. And it means a lot to both me and zombie-nymph. Again, I am so sorry for taking so long to respond to this. I never meant to give you the impression that you were annoying me. I hope we can talk again sometime soon. But if not, I totally understand.
Also in regards to what you said about the new fic I wrote a little while ago...
thank you so much!!! I am so glad that you liked my new fic. I know it probably wasn't everyone's cup of tea with how Leonid and Maxim were close in that. I also really appreciate what you said about my OCs! I try to make the personality of my characters a bit different like how I had Maxim be an operator with anxiety and Leonid have a few quirks of his own XD. To be honest, I'm not experienced with making OCs so this means a lot to me. Anyways, thank you for letting me know you liked the new fic! I actually do plan on posting more Leonid & Maxim content since I'm going through a creative/writer's block and somehow my brain thinks of ideas for these two. I already have some AU ideas for these two involving a Private Military Company Modern AU that involves some cracky stuff along with an AU where Maxim actually is "Bell" and he goes through MK Ultra. But I wasn't sure if anyone wanted to read it so this was really nice to hear.

hello! these types of questions are great don’t worry! everyones different but yeah, let me tell you about my writing process :) (this is a long ass writing rant and hopefully it’s helpful)
so for headcanons tbh, i just write them. like. i sit down and write it all in one go and tbh not much thought goes into them there isnt really a plot it’s just notes practically so headcanons for me are not difficult at all. fics/oneshots are where things actually heat up.
so for my fics i do note form outlines. what this means is i have all the major things that have to happen already lined out. i put it on a word doc on half my screen and the fic on the other and there’s no plan on how to get to each note point but i know i have to get there somehow, but having basic goals makes it easier for me.
when it comes to fics there’s usually a brainstorming process. i have two wonderful amazing loves of my absolute life @hereforlukescruff and @glitterprincelu and usually it will start with me saying an idea and we all just kind of start shooting ideas and bouncing off of each other. this process can take hours. like. i remember when i came up with gang luke (penumbra) i was in class and we ended up chatting about it for 3 hours and coming up with shit. when the main brainstorm is done i plot it all out. i have a few ocd tendencies, one of which is linear stuff means a lot to me. like i can’t start a fic at the end. i need to start at the start. so i’ll plan as much as i can but sometimes i stop at the middle and i re-evaluate once i get there and have a better sense as to where the story is going.
for me, characters are huge. like. i have the plot points but characters drive everything else. so i’ll often have a sit down and reevaluate what has happened to them and how they’re feeling and see if it’s all making sense for them, but, because i brainstorm a lot, usually i don’t end up changing much. strong characters are key my dudes.
my biggest motivator to get to the end of the story is well, the characters. i love them so much and writing for them feels so comforting to me. LOVE YOUR CHARACTERS. but also. something ya’ll gotta understand about me is that i’ve been writing fan fiction for 8 years. i’ve probably spent an average of 2 hours a day (and that’s seriously low balling it) so thats 2x365=730x8=5840 hours that i’ve written and that’s probably too low to be accurate. so i’m a writer. i type fast as fuck and i’ve been doing this a while so writing comes very easy to me, ideas are constantly flowing. this is legit what im pursuing as a job so don’t be discouraged if you can’t write 10k in a day like I do because... well, i’ve had a fuck ton of practice. writing 10k in a day is pretty common for me i’d say, once i sit down with a oneshot i don’t want to leave until it’s done.
but. i also again, have a bit of an ocd thing and when it’s paired with anxiety, it makes it hard for me to stop. i need to get things done. to check stuff off my list. or i get bored. if i leave a fic for even a day or two, it’s likely i’m not gonna finish it. so for me, and i know this, its important to wait until i have a sufficient amount of time to bust something out and a plan makes it so easy because i don’t have to stop and ask myself “okay now what”
what more can i say about writing.... uh... characters. so important. dialogue. key.
like i’ll start a fic with a general idea about an OC but as the fic continues they grow and i really enjoy watching them grow. i think a good rule of thumb if you’re having troubles with this is immerse the story view point in the most solid character you have (i’ll give an example of this in a moment) and use their perspective and musings on a different character, like what they notice, to promote growth.
example of what i mean when i say this. i recently wrote prince cal and from the start, he was my strong character. Ostara was new, she’s ashton’s sister, she’s back for the first time in a while. the very first paragraph establishes that calum is taken aback by how much she’s changed. there’s still some similarities to how she was growing up and i weave that comfort of the known throughout the story (with things like chicken fights in the pool or musing about how they used to play hide and seek as kids) but from the start, Calum is knocked off his feet by how beautiful she’s gotten and that’s a very obvious symbol of change, not just outside but in. so as the fic continues calum notices things about ostara. for example. the second time i wrote she was wearing a print of some sort, calum and i both mutually realized, ‘huh. she likes prints i guess.’ because ostara is ostara, i dont control her, in my brain she’s her own person, she’s dictating whats happening and baby just likes prints. and calum notices which says something about him, but its also little details like that that bring these characters to life.
i mean. i don’t know how other people write characters. my characters are always alive to me. they have their own voice and knowing their reaction to things is second nature to me. but this can be attributed to the fact that i legit wrote fan fiction about actual characters (MCU, TVD, Teen Wolf, etc...) for 6 years and being able to step into those characters and do dialogue that seemed legit was the most important thing for me. so i have a FUCK TON of experience on characters. so once again, if its hard for you to step into your characters thats okay. maybe do those things where you have a fill in the blank sheet on whats their fav food, their fav colour, do they like summer or winter? etc....
i think there isnt one way to write. i think i’m blessed that i’ve ALWAYS been a writer. since i was like 4. you know in elementary when they made you write and they’d give you those little booklets and shit? other kids had like one or two at most but this whore was always on book number 6 or 7 like, im a writer. it’s what i am. it always has been what i am.
im also a multitasker. so most of my writing is done while watching shows. which means its a double whammy for me. like. im learning about characters and plot WHILE writing so... as you can see, i’m hard core as fuck about this shit.
my point is. my process is a process that i think is pretty particular to me. most people i know cant watch tv and write at the same time. most people don’t sit down and bust out 10k in one sitting. and thats fine. if you enjoy writing then do it. focus on what you can be doing better, this isnt a competition. at the end of the day, the only person you should be trying to be better than is the person you were yesterday, or last week, you know?
find people who are creatively inclined because holy shit it makes a huge difference. bouncing ideas off of supportive people is really important. without my friends, Birdie in Penumbra might be named Cherry, the Gang AU wouldn’t have an ending all planned out and ready to be written, and i would have missed out on so many hours of face time calls and back and fourth messages with two of the most important people in my life right now.
so lets break down what the fuck i’m even saying
-find supportive people (but it’s important you support them as well. if they’re gonna let you throw ideas at them and help you out and pump you up, reciprocate hoe)
-focus on yourself
-find what you’re good at. plots? characters? dialogue?
-find ways to strengthen the things you’re not so good at (character fill in sheets, plot planning, etc...)
-find what, at the end of the day, really works for you
-don’t put pressure on yourself. writing is for fun. it should be fun. and if it is fun, i think motivation will come easy? but i could be wrong, once again, i have an addictive personality and writing is a fix i need every day or i go insane.
yeah. if ya’ll have any more writing questions let me know. i love answering these because i think it’s so interesting to really look at the process :)

11/11/11 Tag Game: Lucky Round Number 13
Tagged by my friend @ren-c-leyn! Thanks! Let’s keep this question game going!
Throwin’ my answers under the cut because I tend to ramble.
Bilbo Taggins: @elisabethrosewrites, @waterfallwritings, @quilloftheclouds, @cawolters, @katekyo-bitch-reborn, @2krisp, @agrimmon, @adelasthornes, @the-midwrite-oil, @a-story-im-writing, @phoenix-the-write-thing
My Questions:
What is a character you want to write but haven’t yet? Why not?
What book would you recommend to someone who likes birds?
What’s your favorite bad line?
What’s the silliest ending you can think of for one of your WIPS?
What’s something you wrote just for fun?
How do you feel about extended metaphors?
What’s your favorite use of dramatic irony?
If you could, what would you change about your genre of choice?
Do you use color symbolism in your stories? How much or how little?
What’s the softest thing you’ve ever written?
How do you feel about dream sequences in stories?
1.What’s the nicest thing you have to say about your own writing?
That most of the time, it does what I need it to. Which is awesome. I’ve never been one to hate my writing, actually. I get frustrated sometimes, sure, but I never dunk on my work. Unless I do something really silly like accidentally write in the wrong tense for two pages because I had a really bad brain fart, or forget how to spell a four letter word. Other nice things I can say about my writing are: I love how I can be succinct without sacrificing story or detail, I finally figured out how to write openings that aren’t confusing and ungrounded (YAY), and that my character development skills have gotten way better in the past year, like damn.
I legit love my writing, so saying nice things about it is easy for me.
2. What’s usually your favorite kinds of scenes to write?
I live for the hard-hitting heavy emotional scenes. They’re my absolute jam. I also love creating the build up to those scenes, because once you hit the OH SHIT button and bring everything together with a solid whack to the heart, the whole story falls into place like a perfectly laid-out blanket.
3. Favorite novel you ever read that you didn’t think you’d like?
Hm. I had to read What Belongs to You by Garth Greenwell for my sexuality (in literature) class in college and I thought I’d hate it, but it turned out to be a really interesting novel. I do not recommend it for the faint of heart, people who don’t like reading lots of introspection, or people who are uncomfortable with STDs and cruising, though.
(Lemme look back through my college reading lists for a bit since the books I pick for myself always have at least one thing I know I’ll like. And I mostly read short stories, so I gotta think about actual books...)
First Light was pretty good. Didn’t think I’d enjoy that one since every other novel I had to read for that class was hot garbage except for the Duras (fun fact: did not finish reading any of them other than the one I had to present on, only started like 2 and got no more than 10 pages in, and managed to get an A because I am a first-class maker-upper - thanks, thesis semester).
Do plays count? Because I saw the title of The Other Death of Joan of Arc by Stefan Tsanev and was hesitant, but I loved it. If you can find it, I highly recommend giving it a read. It’s surprisingly funny and really insightful.
4. Favorite writer here on tumblr?
How dare you ask me to pick favorites. How dare. I do follow a couple of bigger-name authors on here, like Maggie Steifvater and Neil Gaiman, and they’re awesome.
I love everyone. But here are a few people I will mention:
@mvcreates, @quilloftheclouds, @caffeinewitchcraft, @cawolters, @aslanwrites, @pinespittinink, @pens-swords-stuff, @urbanteeth, @piratequeenofpixies
5. Do you like poetry or stories better?
Stories! I enjoy poetry, but it has to be the right kind of poetry. I am so tired of typical love poetry and breakup poetry. If you want me to read it, it’s gotta be different and creative with very few cliches or I’m out. My favorite poem is “I Sing the Body Electric” by Walt Whitman. And “Song of Myself.” Have you ever read it out loud? It is an experience. I did a huge analysis of Love, Death, and the Changing of the Seasons, too, and that was really fun. I recommend that collection, it does some cool stuff.
I also love poetry for helping me with my writing. I’m one of those people who thinks that poets should study prose, and prose writers should study poetry. It helps, I swear.
6. Favorite sense to use when describing a scene?
I tend not to prioritize sense descriptions unless the scene calls for it. If I had to name one, it’d be touch. It’s a bit underutilized, in my opinion, and I like messing with physical sensations like that.
7. Favorite original character?
Of mine? Hm... I really, really like Alexis, my sweet aro/ace astrophysicist who loves Star Trek, space, and her cat Neil. Probably because I put a lot of my own experiences in her story because it was funny at the time and I relate to her a lot. But she’s also crazy brave and confident in her own abilities in a way I wish I were.
Of my current stories, my favorite is Gemma. Her conflict is just so cool. Mel is great, too. Her backstory was really fun to think up.
8. What motivates you to keep writing?
Right now it’s personal challenges. I keep writing out of spite and for myself.
9. Do you daydream about your worlds a lot?
Almost not at all, actually. Ideas come to me when I’m doing other things. I’ll be washing the dishes and my brain will go “THE BOOK IS IN A LANGUAGE SHE CAN’T READ BUT THIS OTHER PERSON CAN AND IT’S THE SAME BOOK FROM THIS EVENT AND IT TIES EVERYTHING TOGETHER AND IS CRITICAL FOR THIS CLIMACTIC SCENE” and I’ll scramble to dry my hands off to write it down before it disappears into the void.
10. Would you be excited or fear for your life, to be stuck with some of your OC’s in a room for an hour?
Lucky me, none of my OCs are homicidal without reason! And none of them actively enjoy hurting people! So I’d be pretty chill with it. Most of my OCs are super nerdy, so we’d all get along great. Everyone else would enjoy a nice awkward silence until we were let out of the room.
11. Happy scenes or sad ones?
Writing, sad. Reading, happy. I’m a fluff fiend who writes some seriously angsty stuff sometimes. But you need the happy and the sad working in tandem. Without the happy, the sad mires the story in hopelessness. Without the sad, the happy loses its luster and spark.

{{ Writer asks! Backstory, time-lapse, notepad, parchment, and trope?
got BLESS u zira. i hope you enjoy my rambles lmao
Backstory: how did you come to love writing?
i read Too Much as a kid ofc & somewhere around 4th grade started getting into journaling. wasnt consistent w/ it and dropped it a lot. and then ofc middle school rolls around, a friend starts sharing her A:TLA fanfic and its all downhill from there when we started all swapping collab Friend Fiction ofc. (i’m finally past the Cringe Phase of looking back on it, and i gotta say. while it wasnt esp Creative/Original, it was FUN. and DAMN was it a GOOD distraction from boredom) i wrote a lot of fic and original stuff in between and i’d like to think ive been growing since then ofc. but it was definitely that friendfic phase that set everything in motion. esp with making my friends laugh at those Wacky Over-the-Top Hijinks i’d put our group thru
Time-lapse: how long have you been writing (as a hobby or for work)?
oh shit kinda answered that above haha. as a hobby since middle school so… like? 8? 9 years? maybe almost 10? I’m far from being a professional writer, but as far as starting to develop my OCs for an Original Work some day uhhh. probably only a couple years now
Notepad: (answered)
Parchment: how often do you or your personal life influence your writing?
*cries bc its literally all the damn time* the only reason i got to that recent carrierae ficlet was bc i stayed up too late & heard a train in the distance for the millionth time in my life. inspiration and influence come in the weirdest of ways with the smallest of things that i’ll just? inject into my writing. i’ll admit, it becomes small talk a lot. but there’s something really beautiful about small talk bc we take so much of it for granted. a way to fill silence, but i think so many people also forget that… theres a certain poetry that we all try to bring even with small talk sometimes? okay im gonna stop while im ahead bc im gonna start rambling abt like. Everything soon.
Trope: what’s a pet peeve you have about writing?
G O D WHEN IVE BEEN WRITING FOR LIKE. A GOOD SOLID BLOCK OF TIME AND I DEFINITELY HAVE LIKE 500+ WORDS GOING AND I GO TO SAVE LIKE A GOOD PERSON™ AND THEN THE COMP FREEZES UP ON ME AND DOESNT SAVE SHIT BC IM AN IDIOT no thats not rlly a Pet Peeve but still. ive straight up walked away from writing for like Days at a time when that happens tho. esp since i’ll INSTANTLY forget everything that i wrote bc im so ANGERY so moreso pet peeve myself for being a dumbass lmao

Okay so- It’s going to be a new year real soon. And I haven’t done anything for my pals during Christmas and I really, really wanted to do something to show how thankful I am towards my friends. So here’s a small ‘follow-forever’ thingie! ^^
I will put them under read more since it’s a long list hehe. This isn’t in any order, btw, I appreciate all of you and if I somehow, somehow, forgot to add you then- Im so sorry! ;;;
__
@diligencekit - We’ve been pals for a reaallly long time now, and I really enjoy your company, bro! I consider you a really close friend of mine and a broski. ^^ You’re possibly my first close pal on the net, and I’m glad that we’re still buddies! Your art has always been a huge inspo to me and it’s probably the main reason to why I got a drawing tablet. qwq;
@valskya - Another close net pal/broski! I’m happy that we’re close friends and we started talking again! You and Jen always seem to make me really happy, your art has also been an inspo to me and I’m always happy to see your art! You also got me into Juuni Taisen which honestly made me really happy, we had lots of fun watching the episodes and such! You’re also another really close friend of mine, and a broski as well! I’m just really happy we started to talk to each other again~
@zingospinning - I completely adore you. I really don’t know where to start with this- Okay, so when I first saw you in school, I instantly wanted to befriend you. But I was so god damn nervous because I wanted to impress you and such,  but then we became friends in an after-school club and that was both the best thing and the most nervous thing because I still really wanted to impress you. Looking back at it, I sort of find it amusing. I think when I befriended you, I started to become slightly more social with others and had a bit more friends? I only had one friend and if I haven’t met you, then holy shit where would I be now? You’re funny, a huge sweetheart to me, and I enjoy your company so much! I wish I can see you every day in school again but ey, I do hope you’re doing well and I love you! You also introduced me to many things, such as BNHA, Teen Titans, etc etc. Thank you so much for the great stuff in life, Zingo! <33
@hasikon - Where do I begin. Okay, fIRST OF ALL! Thank you for making sure I was doing well this month, and thank you for everything too. You have wonderful OC’s and a wonderful humor, and whenever we have a Skype call, it honestly makes me laugh and it’s so chill. Playing games with you is so fun, even though I may have ‘ruin’ the experience for ya. xp Btw we need to play TableTop Simulator sometime again hoho.
@nikolas-is-gay - BROTHER!! Nikolas is my sweet n satanic baby brother!! I love him so much and I’m so glad we started talking! Has a great humor, I adore his OC’s, and his creativity! We hurt each other on a daily basis by talking about angst about our OC’s and we love it. Honestly, I don’t know what I would do without him, he’s there to cheer me up whenever I’m feeling down and the things he says always seem to make me laugh and/or smile. It’s nice to have him around tbh~
@maginpui - Oh gosh- My sweet and adorable P.Wife! She’s so adorable and I honestly love, looove her humor! She never fails to make me laugh and I also really appreciate her kindness! I’m so sorry that I never really got the chance to properly talk to you in school though,,, But I do hope the gifts I got you are fine! And I love you so much, I hope you’re well, P.Wife! I also returned all of the gifts you gave me- I love them all so so much and I am extremely sentimental of em! Especially the Pusheen gifts!
@dettouo - East or West, Dett is the best! I really need to start talking to you again! You’re such a sweetheart and you’re adorable! I really enjoy talking to you and you seem really fun to talk to! I do hope you’re well too~ Honestly just talking to her makes me feel really happy.
@turtleofrage & @killualluka99  - AH YES, THE BUNDLE I GOT WHEN BEFRIENDING ZINGAY! Also a great birthday gift, considering I met them on my 16th birthday? These are my adopted children, I love them both so much! Seeing them whenever I visit Zingo makes me happy! I love their humor and I also enjoy their memes and company~
@dylanhack - Another old pal of mine, and an older brother! We haven’t been talking a lot lately but I really want to change that. You’re really fun to talk to and I was looking back at my old posts yesterday, and I honestly really miss you heh,, I do hope we can talk again! Because you’re a really fun buddy and I enjoy your company!
@philosopher-rachel-wolf - I’ve known Rachel since...I guess 2013? But we’ve properly started talking in early 2014 and ever since then, I wanted to improve myself because inspired me so much! You’re probably the main and only reason to why I write better now, and still roleplay in the RP community. Well I mean- I try to roleplay but writers' block,,,heh h-- But I’m not kidding when I say your writing has influenced me. I’m so happy that we became friends and I’m even more happier that we still are! You always have that jolly personality that really makes me smile ^^ And your art! Where do I begin- you always seem to be improving it , and I’m always so happy to see your improvement. It’s seriously makes me smile too- I love it! Keep up the wonderful work, Rachel! <33
@chibinel - Listen-- We got ‘banned’ in a Cuphead server for confessing out love for Beppi the clown, we have a role called “EXTRA BANNED” because of it. I’m proud of myself- Okay but jokes aside, I love Gaster! I love their art so much, it’s so adorable and it’s just- it’s really good! They’re nice to talk to and I’m glad we got along well! ^^
@valf-xx - Listen- Valf is a huge sweetheart when I first met her. I really love her Dangan Ronpa imagines blog ( @komaedas-trash cHECK IT OUT BLEASE-- ) and I love talking to her! I like screeching about Eraserhead with her and I also love her art~ She’s just- She makes me feel so calm, I really appreciate that !
@puddingskitty - Fun and adorable buddy! I enjoy seeing her art and seeing her on my dashboard in general. I love her Toy Bonnie’s design, and whenever I see a rabbit, I can’t help but get reminded of her~ Honestly I enjoy her company even though I was quiet for sometime- And you’re probably the first person who drew my OC, Zerum, as a small gift and I still really appreciate it! Thank you!
@kamukuraprojects - Another buddy I consider a brother!! Listen- his cosplaying is so?? It’s so beautiful?? I love it so so much! You’re a gorgeous boy and I simply adore your generosity, I do hope things are gonna be better for you since I heard you’re having a bit of a hard time I think? But I hope you’ll have a great and wonderful new year and hope that next year will be better for you! ^^
@imperial-dork - My spirit animal. Literally my spirit animal- his humor is honestly my favourite and I look up to this man even though a certain goat told me not to. Either way, I think Magnus is a cool dood, and I enjoy hearing about the wacky things he’s done~
@fluzeh - I love Lazy’s art so so soooooooo much! I want to draw just like her one day! She’s so sweet and I love to mess around with her~ I also enjoy watching stuff with her- we watched the MLP movie on rabbit and honestly it was a nice experience~ I love it! I hope we can do more things like that! She’s also the person who designed my main fursona, honestly I just- I adore my sona so much because it’s from you, and I will forever treasure it!Thank you so so much again for the design! <33
Okay I’m one tired idiot atm but I just want to say that for those I haven’t wrote a small description thingie for, please try not to get upset! I’m sorry in advance that I couldn’t say something for you, but I hope you all are alright with this!!
Here are some people that I enjoy talking to/admire and/or people I would love to talk to/get to know better!
@ciel-beehive, @pikabrightheart, @plantsarehardcore, @frizzbutt, @his-pall-mugman, @rottenmilkyarts, @tvvy, @darkshadowsnake, @garnetarmstrong,  @flareon, @raphadelialovesyou, @cheinsaw, @official-akamatsu, @crowstainedred, @ryoumahoshi, @ellsworld, @korekiyo--shinguuji, @btal, @infinitypixel, @askmoonburst, @ask-evil-rainbow-dash, @zyrdrake, @radhalla, @rubberhoseartist, @wolfex126, @miss-bribri, @ladykailolu, @rosealinathefox, @rexieh, @johntheslothblog, and @spacescarf
That being said, I hope all of you had a great year, and if it wasn’t a great year, then I hope next year will be better for all of you!
I love you all, thank you so much for everything, and have a happy new year!! <33

thank you !
Tumblr media
^^ dis gif isn't mine. but that's totally my face.
Here it is! This is my big dumb 'thank-you' post that I've been meaning to write. So if you weren't aware, I've actually closed this blog (aside from some random posts about Logan and a Batman Podcast - you should listen to it) due to some major, major problems with the DC fandom that I find toxic and quite frankly disgusting. But das stuff that sadly I can't change so I'm doing what's best for me and getting my ass outta here before my love for Batman is forever ruined by blind and immature fanboys.
i started writing bryce around about 2015. My first blog was called surgitisms but I changed it because someone made some burnbook callout about me copying someones url (I had no idea that blog existed rofl - surgit is latin for 'rise'). I then moved to rageinyourbones (shoutouts to joseph gordon levitt) where i spent most of my time, developing this character that wasn't even my idea - it was just a passing remark from a lovely actress by the name of Natalie Dormer. now as you're aware (and as i continually apologize for) i fucked up on that blog, and i've done my best to reach out and make amends with the people i offended (and they were super gracious and accepted my apology). but that negative bollocks aside, i grew up so much on that blog. i learned some amazing things about myself, i learned some bad things about myself, and most importantly i created a character that i personally believe is different to bruce wayne. i ended up headcannoning late at night, thinking about how she would act differently to bruce, about how she would interact with certain characters etc etc etc.
but what really made all the difference was the people i met.
you guys are fucking amazing. i mean lets be real - the tumblr rp community can be fucked sometimes. we've all seen it, but what i love is that we tend to (80% of the time) treat each other as real human beings and see that what we're really here for is just the love of these dumb fictional characters. they give us a break from the savagery of life and its endless woes. i am so, so so grateful and so so so blessed to have known the people i have on here. people whom i met on rageinyourbones and followed me across to here, and people whom i met here. holy bollocks im rambling - im just gonna tag some specific people who really really made my life on here so enjoyable. the rest i'll just lump into one big post because i'm lazy like that.
@fracturedportrait - harmony. i remember meeting you the first time. i remember it so clearly. you were so chill, so spunky (god i feel old using that word), and you had such a passion for your oc. i remember the first plot we had, the inspiration we shared... who knew that it was the beginning of my greatest friendship and my #1 OTP for bryce. you were the first person whom i ever actually spoke to off tumblr (remember when i called you?? and you heard my dumb aussie accent??). i remember legitimately getting teary over memes, i remember smiling so much during our threads, i remember (and still do) laugh about us talking about how our sin is like a lovely vintage of wine. your writing consistently, unimaginably, pushes and has pushed me to better mine. with every post you made, you helped improve my writing. you are such a blessing to me and i am not going to just let this stay as some dumb tumblr friendship. we'll face time, and i'll be sure to credit you when i'm on the red carpet with natalie dormer being like 'so what made you want to write this film about a female batman?'. i'll just be like 'yo there was this really cool chick who wrote a vampire and she told me to just write this film'.
@halysborn - SWAN. ho man. do you remember when i wrote that giant meta about how dick literally changed not just bryce's life, but bruce's? i firmly believe that dick is the most important character in bruce's life. and i mean i'm talking on the same level as alfred - even more. he's the TRUE son. the son whom saved him. like i just cry about how bruce says that line - 'sometimes i think i've never done any good in my life. then i look at dick and realize i'm wrong' or whatever that actual phrase is. i PHYSICALLY VOM WHEN PEOPLE SHIP THEM. but yo that's other stuff. what's important is that you have supported me selflessly and without strings. you've supported me here, you've supported me over on deshibcsara, you've just been a consistent rock, an unyielding foundation of encouragement. i still, and will NEVER delete that voice recording where you talk about me and my love for batman. it gives me such hope and reminds me that, yeah i fuck up, but i've at least affected someone else's life and how they see batman. my only regret is that i was so goddamn slow with replying to our stuff. and that was literally because i felt like you deserved nothing but my absolute best. you are incredible, and from one aussie to another, i love you brocookie!
@femmekill - could u pls stop spamming my facebook wall with memes?? SIKE I LIED. I FUCKING LOVE IT. my mum literally asked me the other night 'who is -insert your real name-?' and i was like 'oh thats my wife' and she was like '???' and i just said 'dont even BOTHER trying to understand'. you have been nothing but optimistic about me. you consistently, relentlessly see the good in me. i dont think there's ever been a time where like i've felt wronged by you? or at the very least felt like i was a burden to you? you never fail to spread positivity. even when you were feeling like shit and i tried to cheer you up, it's like you turned it on me and were like 'nah gus you're not cheering me up IM CHEERING YOU UP - thats how it works'. im so fucking whipped by you, because you're just such a blessing to my life. the day we shared FB's was like the day i realized 'WELP IM IN THIS MARRIAGE FOR LIFE NOW'. when it comes to your writing - i'm just breathless. the tumblr rp fandom does not deserve you. keep doing your thing man - don't ever let douchebag anons change that.
@marblebelow - I SINCERELY HOPE YOU STILL HAVE THE RECORDING OF ME SINGING 'THE CONFRONTATION'. especially with the 'DUN DUN DUN DUUUUUUN'. that shit is lit. yo but mikel really. the days of us writing together - writing fisk/bryce and then writing jim/bryce... i value it so much. you've taught me to pursue every little nuance in bryce's character. and i mean that - you ask me tiny little questions, and holy crap i end up going into a massive internal investigation. and worst of all (or best??) you jsut lavish me with genuine, kind words. i regret that we didnt get to write much more (both of us having major stress/overwhelmed issues), but dude, like, never stop being you - you have such overwhelming, unimaginable depths of creativity. even if you don't realize it, or feel like you don't, believe me - you do. it sounds like -- errr.... arrogant? but ive spent the last six years studying writing/fiction/film and just immersing myself in it so i feel like i have SOME credibility - you really really do have a gift.
@ivyworn - 'yes hello i'd like to report a murder? the victim is ME' aka this is what happens whenever we talk. so we never actually got to do much writing, but honestly? i literally feel like we did writing in the SPIRIT with all of our tumblr IMs and just the amount of shit talking we did. PUMA. LEST WE FORGET. PUMA. no but real talk, i was supposed to send you a birthday gift aka im still gonna get my ass onto paypal and do that SO DONT YOU LEAVE YOUR BLOG. AND YOU CANNOT SAY NO. i've never met anyone whom has such an in-depth love and understanding for ivy. i remember chatting about Cast Shadows with you and the level of complexitity between Batman and Ivy. i mentioned this but Batman/Ivy is literally my OTP for Bruce. i just think it is such an interesting avenue that no writer (post Cast Shadows) has explored. whenever we spoke, i had such a smile on my face, i cannot even begin to desribe it. i really really hope life goes well for you and treats you with the care and respect you DESERVE.
@psyclownsis @scarestress tags both blogs bc i have no idea where you are these days. so i already recorded that voice meme thing talking about you piri - but i literally just want to further express my admiration and gratitude for you. you've stuck by me, you've pulled me aside and been like 'oi gus you're being a douche stop it', and you've just supported me and taken such an interest in this dumb character i write that literally just blows me away. the fact that we barely write but i still feel so close to you and so valued by you is just a testament to the power of tumblr rp friendships. we don't NEED to write together to be friends and to respect and admire each other. AND LORD KNOWS i admire you. i admire your dedication, i admire your 'idgaf' attitude. and honestly i just admire your unrelenting loyalty to people.
because i've literally written an essay - the rest of these tags are people that i admire and love, even if we haven't had much chance to interact.

11/11/11 Tag Game: Round 12
This is a very popular tag game, it seems! Tagged by @ren-c-leyn! Thanks, friend! I am evidence that you can do this game thousands of times, as I have answered 12% of 1000 questions by now. 😋
🎶🎵Hit me baby one more time🎵🎶
My Questions (running out of creativity, must consume more media):
What baseball positions would your OCs be in if they all had to be on a baseball team? What’s the team name? What’s their mascot? What do the uniforms look like? (If you hate baseball or prefer a different sport, substitute said sport for baseball.)
How good are your OCs at bowling? How good are you at bowling?
Rewrite this in your style: “I picked up the book and read the back. He took it from me before I could protest. He never lets me have the cool stuff.”
What do you love about the last book you read?
What are three things you love about your writing?
What’s a word you love the sound of? What’s a word you really don’t like the sound of?
How do you like to begin your stories?
What other forms of writing have you tried other than the one you’re working with now? (i.e. playwriting, screenwriting, poetry, interactive, novels, short fiction. etc.) How do you feel about them?
What’s your favorite play/musical? Why? What’s your favorite part?
What kind of stories do you like to read? How different are they from what you write?
What’s your favorite bit of worldbuilding from a story someone else wrote?
Frodo Taggins:@cawolters, @mvcreates, @a-story-im-writing, @cvrmillas, @ink-flavored, @aslanwrites, @the-real-rg, @bookish-actor, @toboldlywrite, @pens-swords-stuff, @tangoswips and legit anyone else who wants to do this. Especially you.
Answers under the cut!
1. Why did you chose to write the genre you do? If you don’t write in any particular one, why do you bounce?
I grew up writing literary fiction, the undergrad program I studied in prioritized literary fiction, and I like it best. Sometimes I get fancy and branch into fantasy.
I do not write sci-fi because it’s too hard for me. I’ve tried, it didn’t turn out well. I also don’t usually do horror because it’s a lot of effort for me to make my brain go that kind of dark. And I tend to stay away from YA because the voice is tough for me to write in.
2. Favorite name?
Lydia!
3. Type of music/ambiance you listen to while writing?
I make playlists and loop them or put the same song on repeat for however long the writing session lasts. Usually a cello/violin piece. Sometimes I’ll hit flow state without anything playing and come out weirded out by the silence. That’s always fun.
4. Best feeling you’ve ever had while writing? (example: filling in that one plot hole and not making another one. Or dropped a tiny detail in and it connected all of the subplots Perfectly.)
I get one in just about every story. Each one has a line/section that I wrote, stopped, and looked at it while going “yisssss” in my head. Usually it’s my last lines. That’s when I love to bring everything together. For my war story, it was finding the perfect song to include that referenced both a character and his journey (”Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” for those wondering).
A few others: Finishing my last thesis story after having to rewrite it one day before my last draft was due to my committee because computer errors ugh (but it was way better the second time and I got some good bird imagery in there so it’s all good). Putting in a callback to a character’s old desk by using her new one. Getting the dream scene tense shift perfectly paced in the story I’m working on now. Hitting the perfect emotional beat and satisfying the whole dang emotional arc thread in my artist short story.
5. Is it easier for you to write comedic situations or serious ones?
Serious, by far. My funny doesn’t translate well to the written word. I mean, I can do both, but my serious emotionally heavy scenes are far easier for me to bust out than the funnies.
6. Do you tend to use symbolism a lot?
Unconsciously, all the time! I think it’s almost impossible for a writer to not use symbolism. On purpose, slightly less than all the time. I prefer rhyming actions than what a lot of people think of as symbolism. I don’t do the “x person is represented by the color red and it gets more washed out as the story goes on symbolizing their internal crisis of conscience.” I’m more of a “here’s a thing they both liked and an innocuous detail about it but now that one of them is gone the detail means something different and the weight of the symbol changes.”
I like extended metaphors a whole lot.
7. Think fast: Which book inspired your writing style the most?
Uhhhhh The Things They Carried? Or Wintergirls. Or Hooked on Phonics (heh). I’ve found that Anne Valente’s style is kinda similar to mine, too. Possibly Where the Red Fern Grows. I dunno. There are so many!
8. Last book you read?
I just finished Autoboyography, it was lovely. I recommend it for anyone who wants a coming out story that helps you learn about Mormonism and the LDS church. Also the main character is a wonderful disaster.
9. Book you’re currently working on?
So many. But I just started reading Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan. It’s an odd style that I’m super not used to reading in longer fiction (it reads like a short story, which is neat) but I’m trying to get into it.
[Edit: yeah, I gave up and swapped it for Once and Future, which is good.]
10. Do you ever regret deciding you wanted to be a writer?
I have. I do sometimes. But I never really “decided,” per say. It’s just been what I’ve always done and I keep doin’ it. 🚂 That’s why I’m gonna study and have a career outside of writing. It’s the thing I love to do and I’m good at it, but I know myself, and it’d be tough for me to become a career writer. Unless some miracles happen.
11. Something besides writing or reading that you like to do for fun?
I started getting into graphic design, which is a lot harder than I thought. I like going to art installations and ren faires. I love theatre, watching and participating (I’ve written, directed, and acted before!). I like going to local art events, festivals, faires, and supporting local businesses.
