( … ) "yeah, in the drawer," she speaks, voice hoarse nonetheless. there's a movement of her chin towards her desk. there's plethora of papers scattered around, broken makeup, scattered jewerly.  "you look like someone killed you last night and brought you back. or — like you saw a ghost. you —" asking the obvious, she knows; but the memory of the shadow creeps up behind her, just like that. "are you okay?"

in her head, everything is fine. bae sumi is a vibrant city girl living in a luxury apartment in the heart of seoul with her cool wine aunt. her mildly grating anomaly dictates that she’s got a spot of bad luck, which means she’s starting small fires whenever she bothers herself to cook or getting coughed on by the sickest, most contagious man in the room—nothing too dreadful, if you think about it—so she sticks the patch on the way one would take aspirin for a killer headache, and goes about her day.

in her head, everything is fine. and lies are easy to believe when they’re contrasted against the sinister truth. how sumi has a family—a mother, a father, siblings—who want nothing to do with her, and so she’s involuntarily shipped off to her estranged aunt who they say is just like her, despite her begging and crying and gripping deathly onto the hem of their trousers. how bad luck is code for demonic shadow that follows her around, that breaks bones and shatters glass and tears through wood, so sumi starts fires and burns things on purpose like it somehow drives the monsters away.

point being: sumi doesn’t intend to lie to hanbi. the girl’s an endearing fire starter who’s just a little politically misguided—in sumi’s opinion anyway, t4d supporter that she is—and sumi doesn’t doubt that hanbi knows better than to judge. but sumi doesn’t want hanbi to know in the way that she’s trying to deceive herself, and an added loose end in a tangle of already loose ends renders the whole lie increasingly hard to believe, fantastical as it is. so there’s this way in which she freezes in her frenzied search, fingers halting mid-air as she veers her head ever so slightly to the left, as if to catch hanbi’s expression through the corner of her eye. she stops herself, of course, tries to play it cool and brings her gaze slowly back to the contents in the drawer. “i’m fine,” short. stunted. there, a glimpse of biofirm’s logo. sumi pulls the box quickly out and peels the backing paper off the adhesive end of the patch, and replaces it on the back of her neck. a pause and she pivots, manages a contrastingly peppy, “oh my god, i’m totally fine!” paired with a smile. “i think we just had, like, the craziest night,” she diverts, brings hanbi’s thoughts towards the party and importantly, away from the moment in her bedroom, “do you remember that wild fight between gangcheori’s captain and sanghyun? or that conversation you had with wooseok? i didn’t even know you knew him like that, but i caught a few people looking so i dragged you away.”

“i mean— i love a cc gossip more than anyone, but isn’t he… t4d?” the implication of hanbi’s political stance hangs in the air. sumi pauses, glances at hanbi’s injured arm, and winces. sumi doesn’t intend to lie to hanbi, and more urgently, she knows that a good friend would check up on the injury that she’d inflicted. but more than that, sumi isn’t ready to accept the truth. so she leans her back against the closed drawer, crosses her arms, and manages a distracting, “god… what was in that punch?”

Ahhh your lmk comic is amazing!!! Pls let me ramble a little, sorry advanced for a lot of reading-

Everything in the comic is so wonderfully written and clever, details like Macaque still afraid that MK hadn’t forgiven him even when Wukong said the opposite, I love that it wasn’t just a quick conversation solved everything. Ofc nothing short of a kaiju transformation was going to change Macaque’s mind. And after all that I just know this conversation won’t be over, this was only the start XD

Another detail I really liked was Wukong trying to stop MK from following Macaque thinking it’s too dangerous, Wukong himself still too afraid to push Macaque too far since they’re not there yet in their relationship, afraid of getting rejected again even when they’re talking again and on good terms/ this has happened before and hadn’t ended well for either of them- while MK trusted with his whole heart and went after Macaque.

It even tied in with Macaque’s lesson that he didn’t have to summon the Kaiju form when angry! This is the second time MK has used this form and instead of using to attack it’s used for comfort. And the trust too of Macaque letting MK in when before it might’ve not been that way. Ofc he wouldn’t ever hurt the kid but there’s communication now!

Especially the drawn details!!!

Like when Macaque flinches when MK transforms we’re on the side with his scar(I see you-) and a hug is so unexpected for everyone!! There needs to be more hugs!! The use of physical touch for comfort in this comic is immaculate, MK returning it the hug when his dad’s have hugged him, leaned against him, and held his hands when he’s needed the comfort!! Heartbreaking too Macaque would just brace for a hit, expecting nothing but pain, he didn’t move to defend- he even put his arms down!!

And I adore that MK is still a baby in his kaiju form!! Still smaller than dad. Or he looks smaller to me, I might be wrong! But it’s still a detail I noticed of MK shifting to match Macaque’s level. I love too the shadow bandages wrap around MK, similar to his tails wrapping around Macaque to complete the hug.

(And the live Wukong reaction??? Omg)

It’s also a nice detail as well that Wukong hadn’t felt the need to step in, letting the both of them talk first.

Just everything about the comic is handled with such care, this long ramble might’ve been silly or some of the things I pointed out are obvious but it’s still things I noticed and really liked!!

I honestly come in to check if there’s a new update everyday now, thank you so much for drawing out such a wonderful idea!! :D

- However Ferid then snags Crowley and ig he's on the priority list of getting devoured. Probably bc he's the strongest vampire Ferid has eaten. Cannibalism as a metaphor for love and devotion or whatever, except it's very literal and I doubt there's any love beyond 'u and interesting critter dude' from both sides

- Ok here's my major nitpick with this chapter: KAGAMI STOP BREAKING AND BENDING YOUR OWN FUCKING WORLDBUILDING AND POWER SYTEMS. Until now it was established that a vampires strenght is dependant on 1. their rank (as in who's blood turned them) and 2. their age. But now appearantly Ferid can eat vampires and absorb their strenght? If this was some universal but very difficult thing for any vampire to do, then I wouldn't be this salty. Also one of my favourite things about Ferid as an antagonist was, that power-wise he was on the weaker side. Despite being 'weak' he was still a major threat. He made up for his lack in actual fighting power with smarts and immaculate planning. But now he's another uber-strong genius. C'mon we already had Shikama and Rigr for that department. Bleh.

- now for the Yuu / Rigr and co confrontation, it's fiiiiine. I guess. At least Shikama is still somewhat of a formidable threat. Not to the major characters obviously but yk, it's something.

What's childhood like for Aenar?

Ahhh! Thanks for the ask! There's many ways I could go with this- pls lmk if you meant something different/more specific!

I'm gonna go through a timeline with a 'normal' Aenar kid, hopefully that answers your questions!

More beneath the cut- and as always- canon informed, not a shred of cannon in here. All this stuff is locked inside my computer or my brain haha.

Ok so let's start with an ordinary Aenar child- how about the Aenar version of 'Jane Doe' aka Gemmil She'ya (in my conlang :3)

So she'd be born to a pair of parents, let's say she's their first child.

General: Lots of walks, games, sunlit parks, and camping trips are common for childhood experiences! Holidays full of food and school friends are super important as well. Normal kid things you'd think of for humans definitely apply here.

Birth: After birth, she'd be welcomed into the world with a big celebration...three days after she's born. (it's bad luck to welcome a baby too early- in case they pass away due to complications) As the first child, she'd be in for a huge party. Religious or not, the Aenar typically celebrate these types of ceremonies with 2 parties, one for close family and one for the community- like birthdays- but it's the actual 'birth' of the child.

Early life, 0-5: As the first child, it'd be pretty quiet. I based Aenar Parenting techniques on Inuit parenting styles-- what we'd call 'gentle' parenting here in the States. (feel free to look it up, it's pretty cool) As one article/quote says "When you start yelling, you become the child" (message me for the specific source haha ik it's in my computer I just gotta find it again)

Ages 5-8: Early School. Aenar schools are very small and very well-staffed. Parents are welcome if they want to volunteer as 'helpers', and the school aura is generally very relaxed. (standardized testing does not exist- Aenar don't have set 'milestones' for children as everyone learns in their own time) Another pivotal step in this stage is both communal and familial ascension- basically taking the first step into the community and into their own path. Usually a ceremony (religious) or a relaxed gathering (casual) or both. Teens do this again once they discover their purpose or path in life. (eg. Hemmer's is fixing things)

Ages 8-11: Pre-teen time is...interesting for many reasons. Most children start rebelling around this age, but this rebellion is relatively encouraged and supported- as Aenar believe that 'to question is natural'. Like the Abrahamic religions of Islam and Judaism- reading extensively, being learned, and questioning authority (sometimes, sometimes 0-0) is a good thing and is well supported.

Ages 11-17: Let's say Gemmil wants to be more involved in religion- as her purpose is to serve the community through leadership- or as Aenar make their purposes vague-- her purpose is 'to serve'. Aenar make their purposes broad so that they can 'grow with them'. If one makes an overly specific purpose...this could complicate things. (Eg. Hemmer never says space. Not once. His purpose is to fix things- but you can do that anywhere.) A final ceremony takes place within the community- you don't have to be an adult to be a member of the community, but you do have to have a purpose. The final ceremony for joining the community takes place at 19 and is more of a seal/closing thing than an actual ascension-- given that the person has a purpose.

Ages 17-19: 19= adulthood! Although most Aenar live at home until married or platonically in a relationship. 'Childhood' typically ends here.

Ceremonies: I can go into depth ofc, but most ceremonies are straightforward depending on the occasion. Religious ceremonies involve god, and legal/casual ones don't. So let's say the First Step (Ages 8-9ish) ceremony; the religious one has a prayer and is usually practiced in a holy place, followed by an oath that the child takes- a more casual, or non-religious ceremony would just remove the holy place and the prayers. Oaths are also optional, but also customizable, it really depends on the parents in this situation.

Again, the Aenar believe there are no set milestones for children, so the ceremonies that take place can be done early, late, or even not at all (depending on the child in question). However, internal familial roles are more flexible, but the communal role is not. (eg. coming of age ceremonies vs. finding purpose within the community) I hope that makes sense- pls lmk if I'm going out on a limb here.

shine forever theory(?)

ok so this is what im thinking so far, honestly this is still pretty incomplete because i know nothing about literature so if you guys know anything please help me expand on this!! also, lmk what u think bc this is still speculation

This is what we’re sure of: Minhyuk was driving with Kihyun in the car when they got into a car crash. Kihyun was obviously extremely injured.

There’s so many theories after that but this is mine:

Kihyun dies in the crash, and he and the rest of MX are in distraught and in denial about it. I’m going to explain it more under this but to get to the point, they revive Kihyun with the cost of his eyesight.

In Beautiful, Kihyun was seen in a room of swords, and more specifically, eight of them (minus the one on the anvil). 

and then Shine Forever, obviously he was covered with a blindfold.

there’s a Tarot card called The Eight of Swords and this is the description of it:

Eight swords… and a blindfold.

So my original theory from the teaser was that Kihyun died in a car crash and he has the blindfold on because he’s denying the fact that he’s dead and won’t accept it? And from the full MV, it seems like that as well. The interpretation of how he feels about the situation is pretty vague though.

Also in the description of the card, it describes ‘puddles of water’ (Shownu was laying in water in the MV), and ‘a castle on the hill’ (possibly the random building Changkyun was in), and ‘desolate landscape/dreary and cloudless gray sky’ (where Wonho was running through desperately; Changkyun and Jooheon were seen there as well).

OK SO NEXT: THE LIGHTS!!!

Near the end of the MV, they were seen setting up lights around a field, in the shape of an eye (the iris to be more exact). This is where Kihyun ‘opened his eyes’ in the middle of it. My theory is this:

As you can see it those blue flowers again… and… the lights. It looks like the lights they set up in Shine Forever… and if the field of lights are surrounded by these flowers (which revived Hyungwon) then possibly… they were reviving Kihyun. But it was at the cost of his eyesight, which is also why he’s blindfolded. The eyesight lost in exchange for his revival also makes sense because in the end of the MV, his eyes turn blue (like the flower and the light field). And the reason Hyungwon put the blindfold on him is because Hyungwon had been revived once before by the flower (in All In), so he relates to Kihyun and is his helper. 

Also, the beginning of the MV where Shownu is driving the rest of them and Kihyun is already blindfolded, that’s after what happened in the end. That’s when he’s alive again but his eyesight is lost (you can kind of tell he is blind right after the scene where Hyungwon blindfolds him and Kihyun is stumbing and feeling around the stove.) 

In the car they all seem down because even though Kihyun alive, he lost his sight….

Minhyuk kills Kihyun in the crash and he really regrets it, and the others are mad at him for it obviously. For his lost eyesight as well… but the part where Kihyun was comforting him, he was telling him its okay bro dont worry about it. He’s trying to make Minhyuk feel better but obviously he blames himself :(( And then they all gather around and shit to revive him or whatever with that annoying blue flower that caused so much confusion UGH but yeah i cant believe they showed the in the All In MV (if that part of the theory is even correct idk omg maybe im just fking tripping dhsakdajsk) BUT AHHH MONSTA X ARE REALLY OUT HERE DOING THIS TO US UGH but ok thank u again
