Winter falling over NRC was something you never expected.

It's as if you were in the Arctic, it was freezing. But the cold didn't seem stop anyone, including you.

Running around the snow-covered court yard with Grim while having snow ball fights with Ace and Deuce, baking winter-themed pastries with Trey, causing chaos with Ruggie, hanging at the Mostro Lounge with Jade and Floyd, having Christmas make-overs with Vil, and hanging around with Lilia and Malleus in their dorm.

It was wonderful. But you felt you were lacking something,, or rather someone..

But of course, that specific someone happened to be Idia, your significant other. The shut-in scoffed at those who played in the snow, muttering phrases like "Who would go out at this time..." Or "Playing in the snow? Seriously?" He didn't mean to be rude majority of the time, but his sarcastic attitude couldn't help it.

His little brother, Ortho had tried multiple times to bring his brother out to have fun. But the 'fire-head' always refused. Being the angel he was, Ortho respected his brother, and didn't force him.

However, part of him felt sad that his brother never really went out and had fun like the others, thus resulting in Ortho using his tablet to always be on a call with Idia and bring it everywhere. The perfect solution!

Idia sighed. He appreciated his brother's efforts, but he wondered what was so special about going out and having fun in this type of weather. The only thing that would make him go out was a new video game, and of course, Y/N.

Let's dive into Idia's interest in Y/N, shall we?

He never knew how or why he became awfully interested in the prefect. Whether it be because they were usually his player 2 (besides Ortho), or because they just understand each other, he loved them. Eventually it came to the point where he caught feelings and confessed through a text, being too shy to see them in person.

"Such a sneaky little shrimpy~" He mutters, ruffling your hair. You shrug your shoulders, giggling shortly after. "Learnt from the best, of course." Floyd's grin grows slightly wider. "Oh, and who does that happen to be?" He asks, acting as if he doesn't know the answer. You look up at the giant, crossing your arms all whilst smirking. "My, what an amazing question~" You mutter. He hums, making you scoff teasingly and softly drag him down to your height using the collar of his shirt. You quickly kiss the boy on his lips, his eyes widening and cheeks glowing a faint red. "It's you, Floyd." You reply. He chuckles, all while still being flustered. "No wonder why I fell this hard for you, M/C.." He mutters, you rolling your eyes playfully. 7. Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?

In reading this question ive come to learn that I literally always write in universe. I've written and posted I think 10 life series fics and there is one singular one that is not set in one of the three seasons HA. It's based off a poem so I'm not taking worldbuilding credit there either, but I will say I really liked the small details of Jimmy's backstory that I created for it. That's called ranch boys watch the apocalypse

I don't know if this technically counts as worldbuilding, but I will say that I am quickly becoming completely enamored with the way I've reworked the canary curse in the au I'm currently working on that I'm referring to as Sentinel Species. Which,,,I have not mentioned anything about here yet I also realize. It leans a lot more into the "harbinger of death" aspect of things and makes Jimmy someone who not only brings about the end but also has a finely-tuned sense of death or impending death as it applies to those around him.

(if anyone wanted to know anything more about that I will happily answer questions).

9. How do you find new fic to read?

uhhhh recently I've been finding fic through tumblr over ao3 which is very different for me. Historically I play around with tag fitlers and scroll through ao3 etc but a lot of what I've read recently has been written by or found through mutuals here, or I'll see fanart posted for a fic and find it based off that!

14. Are there any tropes you would only read if written by a trusted friend or writer?

I think we've talked before about how I'm not a fan of amnesia fics? I won't necessarily NOT read them I have read them before but the majority of the ones I read years ago weren't great and were too similar, so it made me think they were all the same.

Now I might be mixing up this next part with our convo about time loop fics, but I think you're a fan? or you've read some really good ones? Honestly doesn't matter point stands for both tropes amnesia and time loops, I would trust them more written by you or another friend. I wouldn't COMPLETELY avoid them otherwise though, I just usually need more of a reason to read them!

Hello! I wanted to ask about a disabled character I’m writing and if this is correct!

My character is around 15 and has chronic pain with his legs (since he was 6), usually it’s not that bad but his friends made up a scale based on how he comes to school. If he walks to school just fine, the pain feels like pins and needles but manageable with painkillers, if he uses a cane, he’s limping most likely and the pain is slightly unbearable, one of his friends will always offer to hold his backpack if he can’t. The worst pain is when he doesn’t come to school at all because his legs can’t move without him crying or they hurt so bad that he needs a wheelchair.

He also goes to physical therapy and it’s talked about pretty casually. Sometimes the character will tackle their friend and the convo kinda goes like this

“Huh?! Weren’t you in therapy?”

“I waaaass!! But we finished early!!”

Like it’s not something that’s hush hush. It’s just part of his life. Sometimes the character does ask for more painkillers than usual though, so his friends are conflicted since they don’t want him gaining an addiction:

Hello, and thanks for your question!

I'm going to address your ask in two parts, the first being the way the character's friends respond to his variance in pain levels.

I think your approach to handling this sounds pretty appropriate for this character. It's natural for our friends to interpret our visible pain signals and respond to them in different ways, especially when we're struggling with mobility. I think having his friends proactively offer to help him without him having to ask or thinking of this as a burden or a favour is a nice way to have them accommodate him, and I like that you're depicting natural variance in pain levels for someone with chronic pain without making people question whether your character is "actually disabled."

Casual reference to physiotherapy is also pretty realistic--it's just a normal part of life for plenty of disabled people and there's no need to make it into a big deal, especially if your character's friends have known him and been aware of his disability for a long time.

The second part I'd like to talk about is where I start to get uncomfortable. This will be a little long, but I'm hoping the clarity will be helpful not just to you but to others who may have considered similar elements in their own writing as well.

You mention that when your character requests more painkillers, his friends are concerned about him becoming addicted to them. Firstly, I have a few logistical questions about this. It's unclear to me from your description who exactly is dispensing his medication, since you mention he is specifically asking for a higher dose. Why are others dispensing his medication for him? What happens when he's alone and needs medication? If these are controlled substances, how do they have access to collect it for him? Or is he asking his doctor(s) for a higher prescription dosage, and his friends are uncomfortable with that?

The fear that he will become addicted to his painkillers is an element that I would strongly recommend scrapping entirely. There is immense stigma towards disabled people who rely on painkillers. Countless disabled people are denied medication by medical professionals who label us "drug-seeking" and think it's worse for us to take medication than to be in debilitating pain, or argue that we're seeking the painkillers in the first place "to fuel an addiction" rather than for their intended purpose... which is to manage pain. This attitude has had disastrous consequences for many disabled people who have been denied access to or forced off of their medication by doctors.

Reliance on painkillers to live a happy, functional life is really not as big a deal as most abled people make it out to be. It's hard enough just for us to get our painkiller prescriptions in the first place if we need anything stronger than your average over-the-counter medication. Remember that we take painkillers because the alternative is often physically and psychologically unbearable; judgment from our abled loves one on this front is neither helpful nor appropriate.

To be frank (and this not directed at you but rather at society as a whole), it really bothers me that many abled people worry more about addiction than us spending our lives in real, immediate and severe pain. It also further stigmatizes people with addictions by framing "becoming an addict" as the worst possible outcome for someone. They deserve empathy and support rather than being shamed and dehumanized, and I don't think they should be pitted against disabled people as though their needs are any less legitimate or important than ours.

Overall, I think you're on the right track with the way your character's friends respond to his needs in a practical way, but I'd suggest either removing their concern about his medication entirely, or reframing their concern to be about something else. For example, they might be concerned about the degree of pain that he's in and whether it means his disability is progressing, etc. I don't think his friends should be commenting on his medication use at all, and especially not actively denying him access to his medication.

Lumping these together because they're both about my salty-ish tags from last night, a time that was so much quieter than today, weeeee! Sorry it's a bit late, *gestures toward work mail*, but it pretty much always applies, sigh. Those tags stem from some "get a load of THIS horseshit" posts that my brethren and I occasionally trade with each other, usually because we cannot BELIEVE people have the balls to post some of the most malicious, bitter posts you've ever seen, followed by something about how sad it is that fandom is so toxic these days (gotta say, eternal faves). I love these side convos (groupchats, even!) with people who similarly hate the aggressive misogyny in the 1D fandom, and because I follow just a small handful of people in that fandom who don't actively hate women (or feel the need to casually bash them along the way to celebrating their fave rich white man), I'm sometimes out of the loop when the biggies who tend to also be the worst offenders get a little frisky with it, which is why I love it when people send me posts that are the equivalent of "get a load of THIS horseshit"--the lorde provided yesterday! I'll put my unpopular opinions under the cut because it might get rant-y, and I've got tons of aes mutuals who are ????? and patient but probably ???? and patient only to a certain point.

So one of the things I find fascinating about lady-haters in the D fandom is that the vast majority of them seem to be l*rries who also seem to really love spending a lot of time and effort screaming about Eleanor, Camille, Olivia et al. about how they should act and what they should wear and how they should dance or not dance and how obnoxious they are and on and on and on AND ON, while ALSO screaming about how much they support closeted people, hashtag fuck Olivia, man, she's the real villain here! (Paraphrasing, but the #holivia tag on tumblr will give you a pretty nasty snapshot.) And the irony is that by dating Olivia or Eleanor, both these dudes get to write all these songs about a surface relationship that give a good hint about the one right below the surface through that female proxy--you know, because they aren't actually out and can't/won't. And if you're a l*rrie, I'd think you would WANT to see Eleanor around (whew, they didn't break up, even though they were "too young"!), ditto Olivia (whew, I'm ready for a lot of domestic shit about a long-term relationship!), but no, that's a transitive property dot that can't be connected because it means you gotta unclench and let a woman live. To wit: I was sent a post yesterday from one of the biggest lady-haters, saying something something about how Harry's going to have this super domestic album and THEY are taking l*arry's love and putting Olivia in Louis’s place! Outrageous! (Plus a string of tags foaming at the mouth about how awful Olivia is, don't worry, the replies/tags are even bigger yikes.) And it's like, well, YEAH. You should actually find that pretty awesome, in fact, it probably means your faves are still together--I mean, Fine Line has loads of major break-up vibes (in amongst self-discovery and acceptance), and Harry very publicly had a breakup with Louis's proxy on that one. Rob Sheffield's article promoting Fine Line basically promotes that break-up and ends on a real fucking OUCH moment where Harry and Anne are watching Fleetwood Mac singing Landslide, and he's mc-fuckin' losin' it, Anne's there comforting him, and if you're thinking that that moment is about Camille Rowe, uh, you ain't me, babe. (Clapback too for Rob being the one to write the iconic Louis is Lindsey, Harry is Stevie piece). Again, just my own onion, I tend to be okay holding more than one string in my hand (these two CAN break up and get back together, don't even get me started on babygate brainrot talk).

But I think my biggest issue with all of it is that for a lot of l*rries, you gotta be gold star or you're out (literally true in so many groupchats and discords): they've each only fucked one person, they've never broken up, never had a major fight, it's never been messy, never been open, listen, you bitch, they fought against the odds, and they won! And I don't doubt that they did, but this isn't AO3, so I also don't doubt that they might've fucked other people, broken up and gotten back together again, had some real messy stuff, most likely around being in an open relationship for a spell and dealing with unspeakable personal tragedy, in amongst regular human growth and discovery. That doesn't make them bad people, it doesn't mean they aren't back together (and it doesn't even mean I'm right, I'm just a rando who has my own opinions about people I don't personally know, just like everyone else), but there's this fandom naivety about it, big-time fingers in ears la-la-la-la, where you're a bad person for even thinking it, so any cognitive dissonance just gets transferred to the woman involved, woman = bad (I'm simplifying, maybe it's bigger than that, but it's interesting to see how some blogs can't fucking shut about it, whereas others go about their biz--blogs in larr nation, I mean). And that's totally baby behavior, well, toddler behavior. I think a lot of babies can actually go with the flow, it's toddlers who melt down if someone moves their blankie.

Anyway, I'm wandering away from my point, which is that bearding isn't a fucking crime, especially if you claim to support your fave (or for that matter, anyone in the closet--it's what it's, as Louis's chest so wisely tells us). Your guy doesn't want to be or can't be out right now, and that's fine! Makes sense! Makes a lot of fucking sense, actually, these fans are invasive, bro! I just wish that if people were so worried about the state of the larry union, they'd maybe chill out a bit about the women involved. Maybe stop being an asshole. Maybe stop giving women asinine names because you think it's cute. Maybe stop complaining that someone's a narse because they're always "flaunting" [checks notes] that they're dating the person everyone says they're dating, or thirsting or chasing clout or whatever it is that Olivia does that is so god-awful to you on a personal level that you spend your day focused on it. (My fave: people who say she's forcing her latest ig story on them, when they're the ones following her, pausin' that little story, takin' that little screenshot, adding arrows and circles and text that manages to trash her for botox [but not Harry], trash her for dancing as if she isn't aware that everyone's watching [but not Harry], then reblogging all that garbage nonstop--it ain't rocket science, bb, she's not the one putting it anyone's face, you're literally the one following her and doing all this work! Unfollow, and set yourself free!)

Ahem. Anyway, yeah, so that's me, wondering why people spend so much time hating on people who are literally giving you the proof that you seem to need, but shirts work, too, I guess! Harder to hate a shirt, or project your self-hatred onto it, maybe? Makes u think.

MUN — AHHH thank you!!!! I say this so much but i'm legitimately so damn ecstatic that people, including you, care about and like how I portray susie!!! It's so sweet of you to directly dedicate an appreciation post to me;;

MUN — By characters, I'm assuming you mean the OCs under my toyhou.se! If so, shit I'm even more touched that you bothered to look through them!!! (this is all under the assumption that you're referring to them) I put a lot of heart into the backstories/current personalities of the OCs that I have the headspace to develop, I've always been a writer first and artist second so often their stories come to me easier. Depends though!

MUN — I try to diversify my OCs a lot, even my own interpretations of characters! I like making deeply flawed and troubled individuals, but I also enjoy making genuinely happy and compassionate characters! I like to branch out, cos it really represents how multifaceted humanity can be~

MUN — In the likely event that you're actually referring to how I characterize The Legion, The Entity, and a little bit of The Ghostface - however little I actually reveal about my versions of them - the previous sentiments still apply! I like developing their personal stories, and in the case of the Killers I really enjoy taking negative traits and amplifying it and developing it from there, wherever the creative process takes me. Just a few points or a full-on backstory and current story, never know till it happens with me.

MUN — A lot of my characterization of the Killers and any fictional horrid individual is in part inspired by real life people, although of course I do try to maintain a sense of likeability so that even I don't tire of their shitty behaviours...

MUN — Susie's so insufferable because most of the serial killer behaviours I've studied are, quite frankly, more than insufferable. I've seen some snivelling, some victim-blaming, some faux innocence to try their luck. Essentially, I wanted Susie to be a toned-down reflection of that sort of behaviour among people like that.

MUN — Obviously I don't condone this behaviour, but it is dbd we're talking about.

MUN — Honestly, I don't really know what any exact characterizations of Susie exist that are done by others. I follow like...2 other susie blogs? Don't interact with them much i'm shy and i prefer people approach me first or else i'll think i'm annoying them by starting convo + other things. Even then I only know like, 1 susie briefly who i don't even follow, because her creator doesn't have a blog for her. I only know fleeting generalizations from how people depict her in art, not any full-on character deep dives.

MUN — So honestly I can't say I know what exactly makes my Susie stand out. I'm under the assumption she tends to be portrayed as an innocent forced-into-this often, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that! I just like to break out of the mold and have fun by being unconventional about my own interpretations of pre-existing characters. My Susie's an asshole, she knows this, she's permitted to be(by herself and the group), and she constantly thinks she can get away with it.

MUN — Frankly I don't see that behaviour depicted often, and at times I was afraid it would be too much and I wouldn't garner much attention with how she is but... It's better than making her something I'm not interested in exploring. Even if authentic is making her a fucking shithead who shouldn't be coddled and who's a massive twat to everybody(including survivors) and an egotistical brat, it's still what I want to explore! And that's fine! And fun~

MUN — I tend to see the "Susie gets along with everybody in the legion! they're family!" sentiment a lot, very valid. Very good especially if I want something wholesome to break away from the grim monotony and hopelessness of DBD's realm. Though frankly, I only care for Susie. But...

MUN — With my Susie, I wanted her to be insufferable, and her friends just as. I wanted her to be this toxic individual who sabotages and self-victimizes, and while her behaviour isn't caused by The Legion, it's encouraged/permitted/spurred on by their nonchalance/acceptance/equal immaturity.

MUN — It's a dynamic I've never seen portrayed before, so I was extremely hesitant to start this blog. But it really seems like people don't mind, and do want to interact with my interpretation of her! It leaves me pleasantly surprised every time people come to me and tell me they actually like this blog, my Susie, and feel I do it justice.

MUN — The basic rundown of their dynamic is this; Susie despises Julie and Frank(to some degree), and is okay with Joey but feels he can't really get her. So they're not too close. I don't see this relationship depicted in the fandom either, understandably so. The opposite is popular, so predictably - as I've mentioned - I was scared of how she'd be received. But at least people can tell Mun from Muse!

MUN — Overall, I notice you and how involved you are in this blog! Thank you so much!! I really appreciate your effort and you taking the time out of your day to care about me as a person as well as Susie, it seriously means so much to me. <3 And no problem! I love developing Susie slowly and seeing the scenarios she has to react to and adapting her accordingly, it's such a fun deep dive and this blog just helps me develop her more! Winter falling over NRC was something you never expected.

It's as if you were in the Arctic, it was freezing. But the cold didn't seem stop anyone, including you.

It was wonderful. But you felt you were lacking something,, or rather someone..

His little brother, Ortho had tried multiple times to bring his brother out to have fun. But the 'fire-head' always refused. Being the angel he was, Ortho respected his brother, and didn't force him.

Let's dive into Idia's interest in Y/N, shall we?

And eventually, the relationship blossomed. It took a few complications here and there, but hey, it worked. And that's how you guys are until today.

He loved you, even with your insecurities or imperfections, weird habits, etc. Despite looking ignorant and such, he'd do anything if it meant it was for you.

"Idiaaa!!" Ortho exclaims, snapping him out of his thoughts. "Uh yeah?" He asks. "Are you alright? You seem to be zoning out, are you stressed? Or sick?!" His younger brother asks in worry, his eyes widening. "No, I'm fine. I'm just tired.." Idia replies, "I'll log off now Ortho, see you later." Ortho nods in relief, Idia standing up from his chair as he hangs up the call.

He looks down at the floor, rubbing his hands together in silence until he hears a knock at his door. He walks up to it slowly and opens it, thinking it was something that could annoy him. But his eyes widen as he sees his player 2 standing in front of him.

"U-uh hey Y/N.." He mutters from surprise. "Hey. I missed you, Idia. I haven't seen you all day." You reply, hugging the housewarden. He lets out a squeak in surprise but eventually melts into the hug, holding your form nervously. "Why don't you come outside?.." You ask, looking at his beautiful vibrant eyes. "Everyone's having fun, and you're missing out, babe." You remark.

"Going out at this time is clearly the worst." Idia replies. "I just wanna stay here and play my game.." You stare at the boy, wondering if you could change his stubborn mind.

Walking over to his chair, he sits down and looks at you. "You wanna play or something? Why are you staring at me like that..."

"I'm going out, gonna play in the snow with the rest!!" You exclaim with a grin. Idia's eyes widen, "B-But it says that the temperature is freezing! You'll freeze out there--"

"Then come with me..You'll keep me warm and we'll both have fun in the snow!" You reply. "I'm definitely not doing that, hard pass Y/N." He says, crossing his arms.

He hated rejecting you, but he wanted to stay inside.

"Idia, babe.. Please? For me?" You ask, mustering up all your courage to ask him. He sighs, "Baby it's cold outside.. I don't wanna freeze to death." You look down, upset.

Idia's eyes look over at your face, his heart throbbing when he sees your sad yet adorable expression.

He huffs before wrapping his arms around you, "But for you, I suppose I could.." You look up at him with wide eyes, smiling warmly before pecking his lips as his light complexion turns into a crimson red. Huh, if you think about it, it looks as red as Riddle's hair.

"Well then let's get dressed, player one!" You exclaim with a cheeky grin. Idia's blank frown forming into a slight smile.

Despite Idia not seeming to have a decent wardrobe, he did. And fortunately he had great clothing for the season, claiming that revealing clothing was too 'extrovert-looking' and he preferred clothes with long sleeves.

You, being overly excited dragged Idia along on the walk to the court-yard. He didn't hate it,, he was just surprised. So don't be clueless once you see his widened eyes after the walk.

Stepping out into the court-yard with your lover, you sigh in content as you look up, snowflakes falling from the sky.

"It's so pretty..." You muttered. Idia looked at you with a soft glance, "Just like you..." He whispered. "What was that babe?" You ask, his expression turning into shock as he stutters, "N-nothing!"

"Hey Y/N!!" Ace shouts from the other side of the court-yard, running to you a long with Deuce and Grim. Idia looks at the three, his eyes widening before hiding behind you.

"Geez where were you?! You owe me one can of tuna for scaring me!" Grim says, crossing his arms. "Where were you if you don't mind me asking, Y/N?" Deuce asks. "Sorry guys, didn't mean to scare you." You chuckle. Ace peers over your shoulder, getting a glance of Idia's hair and anxious face.

"H-hey is that.. The housewarden of Ignihyde?" He asks. "Oh, yeah. Idia's not used to talking to people so he's a bit anxious." You explain. They nod, "Seems like he's just shy to me." Grim replies. "T-that's different..!" Idia exclaims.

"Well, we gotta go Y/N. Riddle probably wants us to do some other task.." Ace sighs as Deuce nods in agreement. "We'll see you later, Y/N."

As they walk away, Grim looks at you grinning. "I'll go back to the dorm, time for me to get some rest!" The so-called mage prances off, leaving you and Idia alone.

"Idia it's okay, everyone's gone." You whisper, smiling. "Staying inside would've been better.." He mutters softly. "Awe c'mon, stop being such a kill-joy." You chuckle.

"Idia!!" Ortho exclaims, "You're here with Y/N too." He says while grinning.

"Ortho,, c'mere you little cutie!" You say while laughing, as Ortho runs through the layers of snow, "Catch me if you can onee-san!!"

Idia looks at the sight in front of him, sighing quietly before smiling. "Hey Player 1, come play with us." You tease, poking his cheek.

He nods softly before taking your hand in his. "Anything for you, Player 2."

Maybe it going out wasn't so bad afterall.
