Oh boy, Anon, it's a long story. Buckle up, here we go!

Kiran was born to astronaut parents on a space station that was orbiting Mercury. When he was born, a solar flare erupted right as a comet crashed into the space station, sending electromagnetic radiation through both the comet and Kiran. This altered his genetic makeup. His parents didn't survive the accident, but Kiran was rescued by astronauts returning to the space station from a scientific excursion. Eventually Kiran was brought back to Earth, where he was taken in by the organization that owned the space station. There they studied him day and night and pondered how a newborn could survive such an accident. Three months after his arrival on Earth, Kiran's powers started to shine through. His powers of flight, pyrogenesis, enhanced speed and super strength only became stronger as he grew older. When he was old enough, he joined the hero agency known as Apollo's Guild in the city of Lightbridge. He's been there ever since. His hero name, Solar Flare, was chosen because of how he got his powers.

TL;DR: A solar flare combined with a comet sent electromagnetic radiation into baby Kiran. Boom, baby gets powers.
