"As I was entering the world of Manderley (a cheer from the audience) before I fully went inside it, something helped me delve into this book. Inside this book, there were many chapters/places where I could imagine Rebecca. But what kind of voice would suit Danvers? What kind of colour/personality should represent my Danvers and how should I reflect my feelings towards my mistress? Many people imagine, when they watch this, ask, “Was Danvers just a mere maid to Rebecca?” Or maybe... they were lesbians? (she legit says lesbians).

When I first received this role, I discussed it with the music director, I said “I think these two were definitely in love. They loved each other in secret.” So, although their love could never be possible/come true, [Danvers] wanted to treasure the feelings the two of them shared. So, even after her mistress died, she wanted to keep this forbidden love. This is what I thought. Thinking back, I know I should have researched more on Elisabeth.

There was one artist that came to mind when I thought of Danvers, it was Patti Kim. The first time I sang “Eternal Life,” I thought of her. (Singing in her normal voice). Then I was like, “I wonder how Patti Kim would sing/express this?” I think the style suits her, and her voice very well. So, I was dreaming that one day I might hear her sing this, because I think it would suit her so well. So, I thought about how she would sing this song. (Singing darkly in her Danny voice) And so this expression manifested."
