Just before my seventh birthday my mum went to the book shop and asked for "the first book in that series everyone's really into at the moment about the kids who save the world by turning into animals."

And that's how i spent the next few years being super into Switchers while everyone else read Animorphs

Real funny how certain people in this fandom want to disavow racism so bad but then go on to not address the massive callout that was just released and they are tied to this person and instead make/reblog posts defending this person clearly made by the person in question or at least one of their very close friends.

By defending them, you acknowledge that you don’t actually care about racism, you are just obsessed with looking pure and right and are so power hungry because you want to be the authority on what people can write in this fandom. You want so bad for it to be about top/bottom discourse but it isn’t.

Yes, it is wrong to write Joe as sexually aggressive. It can indeed play into racist tropes. But him being on top is not inherently racist. Nicky can be on top and it can still be written in a racist manner. And before anybody decides to make any assumptions, I’m a switcher shipper who prefers Nicky on top a bit more. (And before you also make a comment about me thinking with my groin, I’m asexual and sex-repulsed. Fuck off).

But again, this isn’t about that discourse (no matter how much you want to make it out to be that, because you need to reignite the discourse so people can stop looking at you) which is stupid anyways and only was really born from these people disliking that a brown man was topping so they decided to make it a problem.

The issue here is that by defending this person or not wishing to address the issue, they are telling every POC out there that this behavior is acceptable. That they deserve to be harassed and chased from fandoms, that their voices and personal experiences when a character is Like Them deserve to go unheard. It tells them they are not welcome in fandom spaces because majority white assholes are gonna become the popular ones and make the rules and send their people after them. It tells POC they aren’t safe.

You would excuse xenophobia, anti-Semitism (even though a few of you are anti-Semitic as well so why am I surprised), ironically enough...racism (she called Marwan a sand-ni**er ffs), 9/11 truther bullshit, and genocide denying to name but a few things all so you can continue to try and look good. So you can continue to pretend you are the morally good ones and look down your nose at everybody else.

You people who are defending her or are ignoring this rather than addressing it and apologizing for being wrong but saying that you’ll try to do better...disgust me.

I’m ashamed of you people. You are the ones who have no place in this fandom. You ruined it. You chased good people away with your bullshit because sadly too many on social media blindly follow what others say.

I’m not interested in your excuses either. Nobody is because there are none.
