So I hope you don’t mind but I just needed to get this off my chest and wanted to share with somebody would I know would understand. I was reading a fanfic that was supposed to be Prongsfoot (or so the tags would have you believe) and it was loads of Jily until Lily cheated on James with SIRIUS! Repeatedly! This made me so irrationally upset. Sirius would never betray James that way! Ever! Sirius is heavily defined by his loyalty and his love for James. It felt like such a betrayal to his character I was aghast. I don’t get how people could ever see either of our boys hurting each other like that. 

oh god no, i would never mind. feel free to rant away in my inbox anytime. and if it’s about something very specific or u wanna take names, then u can always hit up the dms.

and man, i get where that’s coming from. obligatory disclaimer that i’ll never police what others write in their own space but i also reserve the right to bitch about it in my own. that’s very, very not j&s tbh. like,,,i can’t see either of them doing anything that would knowingly cause harm to the other. i read this lily/sirius fic once where he gets with her despite knowing how much james liked her and that it would really hurt him and it made things super awkward b/w j&s for a while and god,,,,the way it hurt my heart lol

i think what i’d be more mad about re that fic was (from what i’m getting here) how misleading the prongsfoot tag was. like man, if i went into it expecting james & sirius to get together and i came across this??? i’d be fuming mad. i saw something once tagged prongsfoot that was basically just jily and wolfstar and j&s fooling around w each other (and lowkey hurting their friendship) and the urge i felt to send a strongly worded ask was so strong i had to literally close the app and walk away lmao

i ranted about it for a long time after tho 💀💀 so yeah, all that to say i totally get where ur coming from, anon!! i would recommend reading tons of ur fav j/s fics whenever something like this happens to get rid of the icky feeling, works like a charm everytime.

may i humbly suggest dani’s wonderful, amazing, a+ getting together prongsfoot fic that she low-key wrote for me that i’m actually so fkn emotional over bc it’s the best gift ever

why do you like him? what are traits/qualities of his that make you like him as a character? i genuinely want to know

i've been trying to find arguments to kinda force myself to like him and not just hate on him for no reason because im sure he's an interesting character, but i just can't bring myself to like him. idk why. maybe someone who likes him might make me see beyond what i see.

Please note that I have not read the brick in a good.........Seven years ish? A long time, anyways. And also I am by no means an expert on analysing text/characters, genuinely when it comes to a lot of my favourite books/characters it’s just “I enjoyed myself and I like their vibe” lmao

that said, I’ve really tried here lolll pls no one bully me. 

I think the reason I’m personally such a fan is because he has a lot of character traits that I personally wish I had more of sometimes? The charisma, the self-assuredness, the idealism, the determination and decisiveness. All very good character traits. He’s compassionate, but he’s also a pretty ruthless person if it means going after something he wants. But it’s cool bc even when he’s at his most ‘terrible’ it’s in the service of  a better world for the people around him and the people who will come after. He genuinely think he’s doing the right thing, and he isn’t afraid to sacrifice himself or his morality if he thinks it’ll go towards achieving the goal of Les Amis. 

Also I love the fact that he just....Admires the people around him so much? His interactions with Combeferre at the barricade, the entire ‘Enjolras and his lieutenants’ chapter where he’s able to individually select the best person for each job based on their respective strengths (minus Grantaire, but hey that isn’t exactly his fault let’s be real), the way he talks about Feuilly at the barricades. He knows the people around him, the comrades he’s working with. Apart from when he let Marius be a leader of the barricade bestie wtf were you thinking (/j). And I think it’s really nice that we can take this and turn it into “Enjolras really loves and admires his friends” and/or “Enjolras respects his comrades and recognises their importance to the cause”- It’s def one of my favourite things about him. 

Also I live for the scene where he fights with Gavroche- He’s canonically a giant dork and I think that’s really sexy of him (and so does Victor Hugo and he will remind you every page with Enjolras on it)

He gets a lot of amazing, intense scenes and lines in general as well which I think just makes for a really fun character. The execution of Le Cabuc, “your friends have just shot you” to Javert after the National Guard execute Jehan, “The 19th century is great but the 20th century will be happy” (makes me go OOF every time), “Love, thine is the future”, his DEATH scene???? Honestly it’s kind of sad that most of his ‘big’ scenes didn’t really make it into the musical because they are missing some great action

also I just like his vibe

That said, I feel for you if you can’t get into him, since so much of the fandom content, especially for the Les Amis side, is centred around him (and since I haven’t done him much justice with my rambly mess of an answer lmao). It’s stange since he’s such a minor character in the book and even more so in the musical, but that’s the power of a shippable twink I guess.

I love so many things about this ask, SO MANY great fics fit in this category, so I tried to just focus on the “being used” part (though I appreciate the door you opened for desperate, needy, humiliation, definitely some of that in these ones, too). I’ll give you mostly HL, with a few faves in other pairings, too, but oh how I *wish* I had more dom louis/other pairings bookmarked, I feel like I’ve read and loved them, but that was before I had my half-assed system in place, sigh (I’m talkin’ less angst, preferably less Radio 1 DJs, but I’ll take those if people want to send me their faves)...I think one of my canon faves in that realm is Tonight is on your lips and I feel locked in by HazHas4Nips, which is a truly great “Louis’s gonna dom ot4” sensation. I feel like Blake has at least two (2) more that edge into this territory, but XFUK judge roleplay feels about right to me (and if not, who cares, go read it and everything else they’ve ever written, any pairing, anyway!!).

Paint My Body Gold, @littlelouishiccups, E, 5k, Harry/Louis. The author notes talk about three people wanting this fic, and I’m one of ‘em!!! Third installment in an OUTSTANDING series, and this one focuses on both collar AND pee kink, so I”m all about it [casts my mind over to the sideblog that got an anon this morning about what a sick fuck I am...I own it, friend!!]

Sweet Baby, jishler, E, 5.4k, Harry/Louis. The author’s notes say “baby’s first scene!” and yeah, true! Still, very sweet and tender exploration of some good old-fashioned kink discovery.

Only Angel, objectlesson/ @alienfuckeronmain, E, 6.5k, Harry/Louis. Phoenix is another one I’d say you need to read everything she’s ever written, any fandom, but for these two, she has a lot of other great fics in this category as well (see: Born to Make You Happy, Smoke Dreams from Smoke Rings, to name just two), but the amount of using here, LOVE TO SEE IT!

Fan Fic Ask Game

Between @teaismyqueen, @lilacmermaid25 and a couple of anon requests, they hit most all of the questions.  I just thought I’d answer them for anyone who cares to read. :)

A: How did you come up with the title to [insert fic]? Shock I absolutely suck at titles.  I can come up with all of these weird, elaborate scenarios in my head, but ask me to title a story and it’s like all creativity is gone. I chose Shock because I needed something completely non descript, and I knew the end of chapter one would be a shock. See? Totally lame.

B: Any of your stories inspired by personal experience? Some of them. I would say that even if the events are not from personal experience, a lot of the emotions are. I think that’s why a lot of my writing is angsty. I’m angsty all over the place, but there’s no outlet for it in my life.

C: What member do you identify with most? Elizabeth

D: Is there a song or a playlist to associate with [insert fic]? No.  I typically don’t listen to any music, although, I did at one point create a wedding playlist of songs for Henry and Elizabeth’s wedding reception for Evolution.

E: If you wrote a sequel to [insert fic], what would it be about?  I really don’t know.  Perhaps The First Time needed a sequel instead of the time jump at the end, but I’m not really sure.

F: Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.  Anything Phyllis said in Evolution.  For being a non-canon character, I loved her so much.

G: Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order? Start to finish, although sometimes I know there are things I want to include and I make notes at the end, but not whole scenes.

H: How would you describe your style?  I’m sure someone else could describe my style better than I could.  I’m an emotional writer, but I like the characters to show progression.

I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)? Give me a good hurt/comfort fic and I’m all over it.

J: Write or describe an alternative ending to [insert fic].  The obvious answer is Evolution because when I started, Henry wasn’t going to be a fallen away Catholic, but as I wrote it, I sort of came to the conclusion that he couldn’t be anything like he is in the show if he were still a Traditional Catholic. Not good or bad-it just would become to OOC for me.

K: What’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with? Due to accident or illness, one of the McCord children dies.

L: How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?  This has changed over time.  Now most of my writing goes to my betas after the first draft.  They offer ideas and then it sits for a while.  With multi-chapters, by the time they are posted, I’ve been through them 8-10 times.  Often, after the third draft, I don’t change much other than some wording or punctuation.

M: Got any premises on the back burner that you’d care to share? I’m currently writing a fic in which Henry and Elizabeth remodel her parents’ home together and I think my next one has to do with a self-defense class and a very arrogant Elizabeth.

N: Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?  Pool Party!  Gah!  I started to turn it into a multi-chapter and stalled.  Also I would like College and Coffee to go somewhere.

O: How do you begin a story–with the plot, or the characters?  The plot, always.

P: Are you what George R. R. Martin would call an “architect” or a “gardener”? (How much do you plan in advance, versus letting the story unfold as you go?)  I am a gardener.  Most of the time I start with an opening scene and I have no idea where the story will go.  An excellent example of this is the “Hiking” there is only one bed prompt.  How did that prompt end up the way it did?  Who even knows?

Q: How do you feel about collaborations?  I collaborate on ideas frequently with several writers.  I haven’t written with someone only because the opportunity hasn’t come up.

R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?  I think smut is incredibly difficult to write, so there are a lot of writers, particularly the veterans in the group that I go back and read.

S: Any fandom tropes you can’t resist?  Give me a slow burn romance with a fair amount of angst and I’m in my element.

T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand? I feel like I might offend people who have stories that may fall into these categories.  It has nothing to do with the writer, only the topic that I don’t care for..  Unrealistic smut and unbelievable pregnancy fics.  Additionally, I have a thing about Elizabeth’s name, so I’ve been known to stop reading a fic if I don’t like the way Elizabeth’s name is used. 

U: Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much. @pillar--of--salt‘s smut is hands down the best in my book. @laineyvb131 and I share a brain, so yeah, everything she writes resonates with me, and @fsulinz because she is the perfect example of someone who has outstanding ideas and the writing skills to pull them off, but was hesitant to put herself out there and after some peer pressure, she did it and she’s great! Oh, one more.  Nonadhesiveness needs a mention because her stories are woven together with an extreme amount of skill, and I’m jealous at hell!

V: If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose? Strongest Convictions-I really think a well written prequel to what happened to Elizabeth and Henry when they were in prison would be riveting.

W: Do you like more general prompts, or more specific ones? I like @lilacmermaid25‘s prompts, whatever those are.

X: A character you enjoy making suffer.  Dmitri and Craig Sterling although I don’t think I’ve written about either, but if I did, they would suffer.

Y: A character you want to protect.  I think Elizabeth in a certain way.  Shit always seems to happen to her, but she’ll always come out on the other side if I’m doing the writing.

Z: Major character death–do you ever write/read it? Is there a character whose death you can’t tolerate?  I’ve read it and I tolerate it all.  There’s just a lot of tears.

Some Shitty Foundation Short Stories

I managed to write 5 mini stories of the named anons “behind the scenes” so to speak, so it’s basically what goes on in the foundation when nobody is watching.

So basically, these fics are canon that I couldn’t show through asks. Unless something is seriously out of character. Sorry they’re kinda shit, I didn’t really put a whole lot of thought into them.

 “Poly…amorous…?” Sadao tilted his head, Dragonous had simply let the word slip as the two were talking about Mage. The Ultimate Hero gave a big nod and pushed her sunglasses up. “I…I don’t think I’ve ever heard that term before?”

 “Oh, it’s real simple. It just means that she might want to go out with more than one person. So instead of one partner, she could have two or three.” Dragonous explained. The hypnotist was silent, staring intently at the red-head.

 “But…that makes no sense.” Sadao frowned.

 “Of course it makes sense. It’s just how people differ from you, Irunami-chan! Nothing bad about-“

 “I know that.” Sadao cut her off. “That’s not what I mean though…like, Mage-chan is from America, right? They use cars a lot there, so, like…what happens with they’re all taking a car ride to the shops or something?” Dragonous just stared at him with confusion. “Like, say Mage-chan had two partners, right? What if all three of them went to the shops. Does that mean someone just gets but in the back seats by themselves? That doesn’t seem fair?  “Th…that’s what you’re confused about…?” Dragonous had to giggle. “Geez, Irunami-chan, you’re mind comes up with the weirdest questions.”

 “Then I’ll have to ask Mage-chan when she’s finished with the lunch rush!” Sadao smiled. “People are interesting, you know? I love learning about people!”

 “Yeah, same. I get to meet tons of cool people in my travels, you’d probably get along well with a lot of them.”

 “Introduce me sometime then!” Sadao beamed.

 “Heh, it’s a deal.” Dragonous smiled back.

 -7th Branch Days-

 “Hayashi-kun!” Junpei called out. “Did you get that paperwork that Gekkougahara-san sent to us…? It should have arrived by now.” Neku put a finger to his lips and thought for a few seconds.

 “I think Kamisaka left with Richard to get the paperwork. They said they had to take care of something anyways, they should be back soon.” Neku shrugged. “I guess you and I are just gonna have to play the waiting game until they decide to come back.”

 “I have a bad feeling about this though…” Junpei pinched the bridge of his nose. “Something about Richard-kun and Ka-chan being near each other for that amount of time makes me concerned for my mental wellbeing…”

 “Yo-chan~!” The familiar voice came from the doors of the 7th branch, Richard and Orochi walking back into the offices. “We’ve brought what you need.” The decipherer started to walk over to him. There was a worrying grin on his face as he got closer to Junpei. Oh boy.

 “What are you so happy ab…out…” Junpei’s voice slowed down as Orochi’s full figure came into view. Whilst he was still wearing his usual t-shirt and trench coat, the glaring difference in this outfit…were the denim short-shorts, completely exposing his legs. “…what the actual fuck are you wearing?”

 “Do you like them?” Orochi winked “Or maybe you need to see them from a better angle~” He leaned over Junpei, bringing his face to the same level as the blond. “They were Richard-kun’s idea. He said you were the type of guy that liked it when guys showed off more skin.”

 “Wh-what?!” Junpei’s face flushed. “Wh…wh-why would he think that?!”

 “Isn’t it obvious…?” Richard smiled. “You’re one of the easiest to read, silly!”

 “Well…?” Orochi leaned closer. “Is he right, or would you rather not answer that in front of everyone…?” Junpei’s face only went a deeper shade of red as Orochi inched closer.

 “I…” Junpei suddenly slapped Orochi and pushed him off. “Y-y-you seriously are an idiot! Idiot! Idiot!” Junpei cried out.

 “Ugh…we just had to get people like them, didn’t we…?” Neku sighed, resting his head on the desk. “Just my luck…”

 “Ah, now, now, dear Mr Hayashi. They aren’t bad children…I just wish to help Mr Yokozawa with his feelings, is all.” Richard glanced at the bickering pair. “Besides, having a little noise in this place isn’t a bad thing, is it…?”

 -Protagonist Curse-

 “…eh…?” Ryuu blinked. “What are you…?”

 “Giving you my underwear, obviously.” Kobo frowned, acting as if this gesture was completely normal for everyone to do. “We’re really close so we gotta prove it to each other, right? Then you gotta take my underwear. It’s, like, the rules of video games.”

 “Wh-what kind of video games have you played where underwear is a reward for getting close to people?!” Ryuu cried out, still trying to wrap the fact that Kobo was trying to shove the blue and grey boxerbriefs into his possession.

 “A really good one, I should lend it to you sometime. Besides, if I’m following the rules of the game, then you fit it perfectly.” Kobo smirked. “You got the protagonist curse.”

 “P…protagonist curse…?” Ryuu tilted his head, letting out a yelp as Kobo pulled playfully on the ahoge protruding from the top of his head.

 “That thing right there is the sign of a protagonist in the series. And obviously they’re the ones collecting everyone’s underwear. So these are for you because you’re pretty much the protagonist of our class, if we go by the game’s rules.”

 “Th…that’s…insane…” Ryuu sighed. “Okanaya-kun…why don’t you and I ever just have a normal conversation for once…? Just once…?”

 “Ha! You know that ain’t happening anytime soon, Nagata!” The tour guide chuckled, shoving the underwear into the shorter male’s hands. “I’ll see you around!” He turned to leave.

 Ryuu just looked at the fabric in his grasp and sighed once again. “I guess I can’t really do anything about it…for now, I’m just gonna have to get these to my room before anyone se-“ Ryuu turned to leave, only to find Maemi, Toson, Yuuki, and Sadao behind him. “U…u-uh…th-this isn’t what it looks like…!”

 “Drat.” Toson scoffed. “Looks like Okanaya-kun beat us to it.”

 “Eh?”

 “We were going to give you ours first, but I suppose Okanaya-kun was just too fast for us. Still won’t stop us though, that I can promise.” Yuuki tipped his cap.

 “E-eh?!”

 “Oh, by the way, Nagata-kun, who are you planning on giving your underwear to?” Maemi asked.

 -Old memories-

 “So you guys all were at Hope’s Peak at the same time, right…?” Rogue asked Kyoji and Ethos ad the three, along with Daisuke, all sat at one of the tables in the lunch hall. “Anything embarrassing happen with Takai-kun whilst I was gone? Come on, you guys need to let me know about anything I missed!”

 “Ah, Kimyona-san, that’s-“

 “Aw, come on, Takai-kun, you know you can tell me anything! I won’t judge! Me, you, and Yuichiro-chan were besties back in school, remember?” The artist grinned. “Now spill it, you two.”

 “Well, this wasn’t something about Takai-kun specifically, but I do remember Oroya-kun having trouble with trying to reach some books in the library because he was so short in his first year of school. He got so flustered when Takai-kun helped him that he said ‘s-senpai’ with one of those really touched voices.” Kyoji recalled.

 “Th-that’s not true!” Ethos quickly objected. “I wasn’t flustered about it! I mean…sure, I was caught off guard that much is true…”

 “Though you were very conscious of your short stature before you hit your growth spurt. Even Ando-san was taller than you, if I remember right.” Daisuke added on.

 “When did this discussion turn to me, anyways…?” Ethos laughed a little. “But Rogue, what did you do when you left anyways…? Anything weird happen to you, other than the obvious powers…?”

 “Uh…” Rogue looked away for a second. “I…guess you could say some weird stuff happened. Like the lakeside incident…” When the three pairs of eyes looked at her curiously, she could only frown as she recalled. “When I was first trying to control my powers, I was practising by a lakebed…I was just kind of going over everything I could do, when suddenly my electricity activated and hit the water. I killed all of the fish in the waters…I didn’t mean to though! Though I suppose the fishermen didn’t mind.”

 “That was you?” Kyoji’s eyes widened. “I heard about that incident a few years ago, but to think that it was you…”

 “Yeah, I’m much better with my powers now. Which is great, by the way, because it can be hell if something goes haywire.”

 “It’s good you were able to return to us though, Kimyona-san…” Daisuke smiled softly. “Even with Okumura-kun there with me…our second year and third year just weren’t the same without your voice always leading us around.

 “Aw, Takai-kun, that’s so sweet…” Rogue’s expression slowly dropped. “I…just hope we can find Yuichiro-chan soon. It would be great if all three of us were together again…”

 “Then we’ll work together to make it happen, alright…?” Daisuke looked at his friend.

 “R-right! Let’s bring him here safely!”

 Rina and Emi sat across from each other, almost as if ready to discuss some kind of important business meeting. The two had met in Emi’s room, the lights had been dimmed, and the tension between the two was unbelievable thick.

 “…Teruteru…” Emi said.

 “….Peko-chan…” Rina nodded back to her. The two paused before letting out small giggles. “I’m so glad we do this, Chouko-san. I’m just happy we have something in common.”

 “M-me too…y-y-you’re definitely the n-nicest i-in our class…I c-c-can’t stand K-Kamisaka, honestly.” Emi chewed on her nail lightly.

 “I think he’s just a little…eccentric…” Rina scratched her head. “Though Yokozawa-kun is nice, don’t you think? And even if she’s a little strict, Watanabe-san is nice as well. She’s just a little more…intense than the others.”

 “I h-h-have trouble with int-t-tense people…W-Watanabe w-was a nightmare t-t-to live with i-in that mansion…” Emi frowned. “Th-though I a-agree about J-Junpei-san…”

 “So…do you have a plan yet for Hanamura-kun…? You must have thought of something to get him…” Rina leaned forward, awaiting her answer.

 “I-i-it’s still a w-w-work in progress…w-what about y-y-you with Peko-san…?” The music critic twisted her headphone as she asked.

 “Akane’s been helping me out a lot with trying to impress her. I’ve never liked anyone before, so this is all really new to me. I’m just nervous that I’m gonna mess things up and she’ll never want to talk to me again, I mean…she did forget me at one point.” Rina’s mood seemed to drop.

 “Th-that was b-because of the de-despairs though, not be-because of y-y-you.” Emi reminded her. “I th-think you’ll d-d-do fine, honestly. Y-you’ve got a g-good personality, and you’re c-c-c-cute.”

 “You think so…?” Rina smiled weakly, walking over to give Emi a light hug. “You’re the best, Chouko-san.” She stood up straight. “Alright…I won’t give up until Peko tells me her feelings for me! It’s all or nothing, you know?!”

 “S-s-same with m-me and Teruteru…I’ve g-got to st-step my game up, y-y’know. I w-w-want a real answer t-t-to wh-when I a-asked him out…” Emi’s eyes were full of determination. “W-we have crushes o-on o-our old uppercl-classmen. B-but we’re gonna win. We h-have to.”

 The two looked at each other and nodded confidently.
