It's really great how the two biggest feuds in AEW, in terms of plot and/or presentation are:
Swerve Strickland and "Hangman" Adam Page. A literal blood feud between the demonstrably immoral and malicious face of the company, and a man focused on revenge to the point of obsessive madness.
"Timeless" Toni Storm and "The Glamour" Mariah May. Two bisexual women breaking up. This is also a blood feud. Both women are, in their own way, well into the depths of madness. This feels like heartbreak, and malice.
Both of these are great feuds.
Hangman and Swerve has the potential to be one of those "fight forever" rivalries. Swerve broke into Hangman's home, and threatened Hangman's child. Hangman has literally every reason to hate Swerve for as long as the both of them live (in kayfabe obviously). Beautiful shit. I could go on, but I gush about this all the time.
Toni and Mariah are amazing too. I don't know if it has (or should have) the staying power of Swerve/Hangman. But I love that it's 100% a breakup, without them outright saying "Mariah and Toni were dating." Toni outright said she loved Mariah this past Wednesday-- you could argue contextually what she meant, but come on, we all know. This isn't just a "Mariah turned heel" situation. Toni didn't throw herself through the window like Marty Jannetty. Toni *wept*, covered in blood. Mariah didn't just turn. She *betrayed* Toni. Seeing Mariah as this calm, calculated woman who did everything she could to earn Toni's trust and love and deliberately use that against her? I fucking love it. Seeing Toni become more "unstable", ready to kill Mariah? Beautiful.
Women should have more feuds where you're convinced one side is going to actually try to kill the other.
